For Morrisville, senior running back Raymond Holman the school's all-time leading rusher and holder of every school rushing mark needed 107 yards against the Warriors to reach 2,000 for the season While they won't be facing the Bulldogs on Thursday the Warriors are making the most of an unfortunate situation as they'll be holding an intrasquad scrimmage on Wednesday beginning at 1 p.m "We're going to hold a scrimmage with game officials and we'll have our senior recognition with the whole student body on hand to watch," Ciotti said "It will be a nice event to reward our student-athletes and we'll also have our team/cheerleader dinner later that day." The idea came about thanks to the school administration along with Ciotti brainstorming after finding out about the cancellation "We wanted our seniors to have a good experience and we came up with the Red and White game," Bristol principal Nick Nastasi said and this will help make Thanksgiving dinner taste a little better." Hard times before and especially after the pandemic led the Morrisville beer maker to stop brewing entertainment space and guest beers in the taproom to stay alive co-founder Allen Van Anda ran a batch of beer through Lost Nation’s brewing system He had been so busy running the business side of the brewery and doing what he could to salvage its future that he hadn’t done any actual brewing himself for nine years What it's like to be back brewing“It was a great opportunity to troubleshoot kind of go through and relearn and just have something come out of it,” said Van Anda who before co-founding Lost Nation had brewed beer at von Trapp Brewing in Stowe “It’s been two years pretty much since the (Lost Nation) beer left the market.” The brewery that once employed 47 people dropped to a staff in the single digits “It’s a small group of people here that are fighting like hell to keep something going,” according to Van Anda That we are (here) now and shipping beer out is just amazing.” That first batch of beer in April – Lost Nation’s signature Mosaic IPA – led in July to a Kolsch that Van Anda dubbed Rise Up in honor of the phoenix-like recovery of his brewery Van Anda points to many factors that caused the slowdown in the craft-beer market Hard-seltzer drinks and the rise of cannabis products have cut into the market share that beer dominated through the 2010s He also thinks the craft-brewing industry squeezed too much out of its golden goose – the hazy bitter New England India pale ale that dominated the market the past 15 years “I think that the beer industry as a whole has done itself a disservice by hyper-focusing on one-dimensional IPAs,” Van Anda said adding that customers at Lost Nation have thanked him for selling a variety of more-balanced beers and that’s on the breweries’ side and the wholesalers’ side I think by offering a wider swath we’re catering to people’s tastes in beers.” Lost Nation’s signature Mosaic IPA had grown “juicier” over the years “We had a lot of inconsistencies through the years This is now the opportunity for me to wrap my personal arms around it and feel really good about the product,” Van Anda said His hope for the future of the craft-beer industry – and more specifically Lost Nation Brewing – is in finding that balance and we certainly are not out of the woods yet,” according to Van Anda “we are making strides toward a full rebound.” Contact Brent Hallenbeck at bhallenbeck@freepressmedia.com 2025 at 1:00 pm ET.css-79elbk{position:relative;}The Morrisville Municipal Authority has released its Residents are advised to refrain from using water for drinking home dialysis or clothes washing while the flushing is in progress resulting in more than 300 citations through February Residents asked for relief and the ban was implemented Neighbors complained for years about noise “The incessant truck traffic that has really disrupted the lives of the residents who live along that stretch of traffic on their street Council President Helen Hlahol said FedEx trucks continue to violate the ban “No matter how many citations we write,” she said Chief Ciampa said drivers give many reasons “One Walgreens building in Morrisville Salvation Farms is among the 37 nonprofits, schools, health centers and municipalities — plus the Passamaquoddy Tribe — awarded $24 million in federal funds by the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) last month The NBRC secured those dollars through the Congressional delegations of Maine “What’s consistent about all the projects receiving funds from the Commission’s fall competition is that they will create economic opportunity and improve day-to-day life for the people who call this region home,” said Chris Saunders, federal co-chair of the NBRC Salvation Farms currently works with 40 or so farms in Lamoille County and the Northeast Kingdom to redistribute their surplus potatoes and beets zucchini and carrots — whatever they have available The gleaning program harvests the produce for charitable food sites And the Vermont Commodity Program pays farmers for already-harvested produce that it then processes and sells to schools and prisons at a lower-than-market price “Our focus is on those institutions that traditionally haven't been able to afford local food,” said Salvation Farms’ executive director Kelly Dolan She said the new processing hub in Morrisville should multiply that sort and pack 150,000 pounds of produce during the first full year of operation on top of the 70,000 pounds they glean annually Construction on the food processing hub is expected to start in the spring and Dolan said she hopes the project will launch by late summer Salvation Farms plans to partner with local workforce development organizations for staffing “We would have three production staff and then also somebody that would be supervising the program,” Dolan said She added that the larger goal is to contribute to the vision outlined in the Vermont Food Security: Roadmap to 2035 which she helped work on in a previous role at Vermont Farm to Plate “Really what the hope is is that by the year 2035 all that live within the state of Vermont are able to access the food that they want their personal preferences and their nutritional needs,” Dolan said Salvation Farms’ food processing hub is budgeted to cost just over $1 million and has received funding from the state Agency of Agriculture in addition to the award by the NBRC Dolan said on Tuesday that Salvation Farms hasn’t heard anything about this award being impacted by the Trump administration’s efforts to temporarily freeze all federal funding. (That freeze is currently held up in court.) but we're kind of just taking the information as it comes and remaining optimistic,” Dolan said The NBRC said on its website last week that it is “currently reviewing the guidance from the Office of Management and Budget” and postponing the training for its most recent grantees “Once this review is complete NBRC will reschedule sessions that have been postponed,” the website reads Have questions, comments or tips? Send us a message Enter your email to sign up for The Frequency See more newsletters Have questions, comments or tips? Send us a message Welcome, Mickeymickey@disney.comManage MyDisney AccountLog OutWoman charged with trespassing after getting hit by Morrisville Amtrak trainMonday 2025The crash happened near the intersection of Chapel Hill Road and Morrisville Carpenter Road.MORRISVILLE (WTVD) -- An investigation is underway after a woman was hit by a train in Morrisville Saturday near Chapel Hill Road and Morrisville Carpenter Road Police said the 31-year-old had been walking by the tracks when she was hit by an Amtrak train The woman is being charged with trespassing by the Norfolk Southern Railroad Police Department This is an ongoing investigation and no further details are available at this time A woman was hit by a train Saturday afternoon in Morrisville According to the Morrisville Police Department about 75 yards from the intersection of Chapel Hill and Morrisville Carpenter Road Police said a 31-year-old woman was trespassing on the railroad tracks and struck by a train The woman is charged with trespassing on railroad right of way 2025The Ramakrishna Vedanta Society of North Carolina hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Sunday for its new temple at 3109 Globe Road in Morrisville.MORRISVILLE (WTVD) -- The Ramakrishna Vedanta Society of North Carolina hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Sunday for its new temple at 3109 Globe Road in Morrisville Several prominent figures attended the event and representatives from major Hindu temples across the Triangle with blessings and prayers offered for the success of the temple's construction and its future role in the community "The new temple will not only serve as a spiritual center but will also work to promote the essential teachings of Swami Vivekananda and contribute to the service of humanity," said Dr President of the Ramakrishna Vedanta Society of NC Organizers also said that the new temple will be a Universal Temple meaning people of all faiths are welcome to attend all events and services "This universal nature is vital in these times and understanding across different belief systems embracing the spirit of unity that transcends religious boundaries Our Temple's open and inclusive philosophy is both unique and essential for fostering a more harmonious and compassionate world," the Society said in a release A man has critical injuries after a woman stabbed him in the parking lot of a Morrisville Walmart over a parking spot officers with the Morrisville Police Department received a 911 call for a stabbing in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter at 1001 Shiloh Glenn Drive Witnesses reported a dispute occurred in the parking lot saying a woman stabbed a man at least twice Police said the fight was over a parking space First responder radio traffic on Broadcastify reveals the few details paramedics and police were given while they responded was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury was transported to a hospital in critical condition Also making the switch are the Interstate 80 bridge at Delaware Water Gap Interstate 78 and Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22) bridges More than 80% of drivers already use E-ZPass or Toll By Plate on each of those bridges The same change was made at the New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Portland-Columbia (Routes 611/46/94) and Milford-Montague (Route 206) bridges in June The Scudder Falls (I-295) bridge in Yardley has been cashless since its move from a free bridge to toll span in 2019 Upper Bucks detour: Two Upper Bucks roads to close for emergency pipe replacement. Those first halves, which have both turned out to be wins over Montour Columbia Vo-Tech and New Hope-Solebury Morrisville's Holman on record-setting rushing paceWith just 28 carries Holman has already piled up 406 rushing yards with six of his runs going for touchdowns Some quick math puts his average at 14.5 yards per carry "When I first saw him last year, you think this kid is skinny and tall, but when he runs, he runs extremely hard and can break tackles," said Morrisville assistant coach D'Andre Pollard, a 2015 Neshaminy grad and that school's all-time leading rusher with 4,658 yards "Raymond rarely goes down on first contact and he can fight off tacklers And his football IQ has gotten so much better from last year to this year We try to get him in space and then let him go to work from there." Despite being used sparingly in the backfield as a sophomore Holman already has career-rushing numbers that will be hard to top "One of my goals is to rush for 2,000 yards," said the 6-foot "But we'd really like to win another district championship like last year "We've had a good start to the season and just need to keep it going." And Penn State just reached out to check on his transcripts and they're showing interest Raymond is a good student and good football player and he'll bring a lot to wherever he goes While Holman has yet to make any official visits, he's been to the four colleges Cohen mentioned along with Rutgers Top Bucks County running backs ranked: Heading into 2024 high school football season I never thought this would happen where colleges would be interested in me," said Holman my dad said that the colleges would start looking at me I'm just going to keep trying to play as well as I can." Holman could be a running back or a wide receiver "It will depend what the school is looking for," Cohen said that school is going to be really glad to have him as both a person and a football player "He's a home-run hitter on the football field with 4.41 speed (in the 40-yard dash) I've been coaching high school football for 18 years and he's the fastest kid I've ever coached And he's an even better kid off the field."
