On Sunday, the Yale Bulldogs (14–3, 5–2 Ivy) dominated the Princeton Tigers (14–3, 6–1 Ivy) 17–6 in the Ivy League women’s lacrosse championship game, securing the title for the second year in a row.  The Ivy hardware ensured the Bulldogs a place in the NCAA Tournament. Yale was seeded in the No. 7 slot and will take on an unranked University of Albany squad in the first round on May 9. Before they were able to lace up the cleats against Princeton, the Bulldogs faced the No. 3 seed  University of Pennsylvania Quakers in their first game of the tournament. Senior midfielder Taylor Lane ’25 scored her fourth goal of the game – and 30th of the season – in overtime to secure an 11–10 victory for the Elis.  Two days later, Lane and the rest of the Bulldogs carried that winning momentum as they squared off against the top seeded Tigers. The two teams faced off in New Jersey to secure the Ivy Championship.  “We love being the underdogs and having people doubt us – that’s when we perform best,” Caitlin Brown ’25 wrote to the News on Sunday evening.  In the first quarter, the Bulldogs started out strong, putting up three points while the Tigers only tacked on two. This season, Yale often struggled to get ahead early and consistently found themselves trying to make up ground in the second half. However, this Sunday was a different story, as the Bulldogs dominated from the very first whistle. Not even rainy conditions could slow down Yale’s offensive firepower as they put up five straight goals in the second quarter. The Bulldogs stretched their lead to 8–2 before the Tigers answered with only one point in the last 12 seconds of the quarter. Going into the second half 8–3, the Bulldogs knew they still needed to keep their feet on the gas pedal. After the Tigers put up one goal in the tenth minute, the Bulldogs answered with four straight points to end the third quarter up 12–4.  In the final quarter, the Bulldogs relentlessly put up five more to end the game with a 17–6 win, never trailing from the moment they stepped on the field.  In their last Ivy Tournament Championship, the Yale senior class stepped up big time. Sky Carrasquillo ’25 scored six, Fallon Vaughn ’25 put up five and Lane finished with three herself. “Our defense is the best in the country and we proved that this game,” Brown told the News. “The attack, led by Jenna Collignon, Fallon Vaughn, Taylor Lane and Sky Carrasquillo, have been performing all year and their chemistry is the reason we’re able to be victorious in big games like this.” Lane earned all-tournament honors as the most outstanding player and Jenna Collignon ’25, Carrasquillo, Vaughn and Emmy Pascal ’26 were also chosen for the all-tournament team. “I think we’re just hitting our stride, and I’m so excited to continue this into the postseason and see all the pieces of the puzzle fall into place,” Brown concluded.   The women’s lacrosse teams from Princeton and Penn also qualified for the NCAA Tournament.  in the second and third periods to turn a one-goal game into a 12-4 Yale lead through three quarters en route to a 17-6 Bulldogs win while Jenna Collignon had five goals and eight draw controls to lead Yale the Bulldogs had a 17-8 edge on the draw circle to flip the possession count in their favor McKenzie Blake had two goals for the Tigers Thanks for visiting ! This marks the third matchup in four years between the two teams in the tournament final The Bulldogs advanced with a remarkable 11-10 win over Penn in the semifinals thanks to a last-second goal from Taylor Lane With an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament on the line this game holds significant stakes for both teams The NCAA Tournament selections will be announced shortly after the championship game on Sunday night A win for Yale would secure their spot in the tournament significantly impacting their postseason path Future matchups and potential tournament hosting will depend on the team’s performance and seeding This championship game against Princeton not only encapsulates a storied rivalry but is crucial for Yale's ambitions in the NCAA Tournament A win would solidify their status as repeat champions and highlight the strength of their senior class setting the stage for continued success in the tournament The Crimson Tide will host the Bulldogs in inside Coleman Coliseum on a date yet to be announced winning the Ivy League Tournament before losing to Texas A&M in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Alabama basketball will host Yale at Coleman Coliseum as a part of its 2025-26 non-conference schedule, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported on Saturday morning. The game’s date and tipoff time are still TBA. Yale is a strong mid-major program that has been one of the most consistent players in the Ivy League for a long time. The Bulldogs have made the NCAA Tournament the past two seasons and four of the last six, including upsetting 4-seed Auburn in the first round in 2024. As usual, Nate Oats is loading up on quality competition on the Crimson Tide’s non-conference slate next season. Alabama currently has marquee games locked in against Purdue at home, Arizona in Birmingham and Illinois in Chicago. The Tide will also have three games in the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas, and a TBD opponent in the annual SEC/ACC Challenge.
