North Riverside Park Mall in the western Chicago suburb of North Riverside has completed a new project that included a slate of renovations to the 1.4 million-sq.-ft
shopping center. The Feil Organization
announced early this year that it was undertaking the capital improvement plan at North Riverside Park Mall
Designed by JP2 Architects and completed by AECom Hunt Construction Group
the renovations include modernized flooring
updated ceilings, common area lighting and furnishings
which allow the mall to “better reflect the needs of its retailers and shopping community.”

One highlight of the renovations is a 59-ft
mural by popular Chicago artist Emmy Star Brown
focused on the theme “Gather.” Work on the brightly colored abstract mural is underway to be completed by mid-November
The mall began its interior transformation in February and has completed the renovations in advance of the holiday shopping season
Additional renovation projects are slated for 2025 to be announced later
“The Village values the significant investment the Feil Organization is making in our community and the North Riverside Park Mall to ensure that it continues to be a regional destination for shopping
dining and entertainment,” said North Riverside Mayor Joseph Mengoni
“As we celebrate the completion of this project
I look forward to our on-going partnership with Mall leadership for future redevelopment opportunities that will continue to modernize the property.”

North Tama battles back from 11 down to go up 2-1 in the match
The Gazette offers audio versions of articles using Instaread
CORALVILLE — Even when things looked bleak
Oakland Riverside volleyball coach Brooke Flathers and her team remained steady
After dropping the first set of Tuesday night’s Class 1A quarterfinal to No
the Bulldogs rebounded to win the second set and were cruising in the third set
which could have easily been the beginning of the end for the Bulldogs
it is usually the top eight teams in your class,” Flathers said
“It is going to be a dogfight and everybody is trying to keep their season alive
they are one of four left standing in 1A after an 18-25
Next up for Riverside (39-3) is a semifinal battle with two-time defending state champion and top seed Ankeny Christian. The Eagles advanced with a three-set win over Don Bosco
North Tama (25-16) was dominant in taking the first set
the Bulldogs cranked up the offense to draw even
Riverside held a 16-5 lead before things changed
North Tama tied it up and 20 and then went on to take a 2-1 lead
Flathers said her team got back to basics after that point
“I think our passing kept us in the game and then our offense came around,” she said
we were trying to find our footing a little bit
but then in the last three games I thought we played our game just a little bit better.”
Riverside relied on a balanced attack to advance
Bentley Rone added 13 and Elly Henderson had 12
Ankeny Christian will be a heavy favorite in the semifinal
Flathers said nothing will change in her team’s preparation
“We approach every game the same,” she said
We won this match and we will celebrate a little and then get ready for the next match.”
