NORTHGLENN, Colo. — Coloradans living in Northglenn can't have more than four dogs, cats or a combination of the two, starting this summer. Northglenn City Council passed the new ordinance
restricting the total number of pets per household to four
because of excessive pet waste and noise in some neighborhoods
Anyone who already has more than the limit has to let the city know before the new rule goes into effect
If the city is not notified by the deadline and doesn't grant an exemption
pet owners could be subject to a potential court order and their pets removed
To qualify for the "previously owned pet exception," submit a form found here listing each pet's name
"Pets bring joy and companionship to our lives
but they also come with responsibilities," the City of Northglenn said
we aim to ensure that everyone living in Northglenn
Surrounding cities have had pet limits in place for a while now
and Northglenn was the only municipality in Adams County without one
Anyone with questions can call the Northglenn Police Department at 303-450-8892 or e-mail police@northglenn.org

One Colorado city will soon limit the number of pets that residents within the limits can have in their homes
The recently passed ordinance by the city council will start on August 1
I love animals. If I am being honest, I would probably have as many pets as I could realistically take care of in my home. With that being said, the current number is one and only one at this point in time. However, some Coloradans love their pets so much
they choose to have numerous dogs and cats
One Colorado city says that residents will have to limit their love of pets to four
According to Denver 7, residents of this Denver Metro Area city requested the change to the ordinance due to excessive pet waste and noise in some Northglenn neighborhoods
who already have four or more dogs or cats
need to take proper steps with the city before the ordinance is in place
These residents who have more than the allowed limit of dogs or cats would need to fill out an exemption form before August 1
This exemption form must list each pet's name
The City of Northglenn had this to say about the soon-to-be-enacted pet ordinance:
Pets bring joy and companionship to our lives
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we implement this new ordinance

— Neighbors in Northglenn are expressing concerns after a terrifying crash into a home left them on edge earlier this week
Back in October, Denver7 spoke with concerned families who live near Irma and Truda Drives
who said the issue of speeding drivers and crashes in their neighborhood was steadily getting worse
Some of those same neighbors contacted Denver7 again this week after a driver went crashing into a garage in the area
this time near Malley and Irma Drives on Tuesday night
one of the homeowners of that house on Friday
He said he and his family are now left picking up the pieces after the crash caused extensive damage to his daughter's house
There could have been somebody in there," Kruger said
Kruger told Denver7 he doesn't live in the home but has co-owned it with his daughter for about 10 years
He said his daughter was not home at the time but said her roommate called to let them know something had happened
"She thought the house was on fire and that there was some kind of explosion," he said
Something could have happened," Kruger said
The massive crash also reached neighbor Stanley Brown's house
Brown's garage and yard suffered damages from the crash
Tuesday's chaotic scene is one neighbors said has become all too common
Speeding drivers and crashes are an issue they said they've dealt with for decades
"I've had three cars on my lawn," Brown said
adding that he has lived in his home since 2005
said the city was looking at three solutions
The first was adding more signage before stop signs
The second was a public service announcement that was put together by Northglenn police officers to remind drivers about the rules of the road
Wilson said they also planned to increase police patrols in the intersection
Denver7 followed up with Northglenn city officials and police department to see if there was follow-through on those promises
A spokesperson with the city said they've added thermoplastic stop bars and additional signage near stop signs to make them more visible
They also released the PSA video back in October
Northglenn PD said Irma Drive is one of four Safety Sensitive Zones.
pedestrian and bicycle traffic where speeding is an issue
where fines for speeding tickets will be doubled
Northglenn PD told Denver7 they have increased patrols in these four areas throughout the day and night
neighbors believe more can be done to prevent an even bigger tragedy from occurring next
I personally think that they could raise the fines considerably," Kruger said
"There's a lot of children in the neighborhood
Maybe put some more devices here to get people to slow down
whatever other things that they could put on the road to make sure people are aware that they need to stop here."
grand-daughter and their roommate are displaced for the time being
Northglenn PD said the driver who crashed into the home was detained on the scene and later released
Officials said they are still investigating what factors led to the crash and if any charges will be filed
2025 — The three people with gunshot wounds are all expected to survive
— Three people were wounded in a shooting at a house party Saturday night in Northglenn
Officers were called to the area of Loren Lane and Leroy Drive around 10:48 p.m
for reports of a person injured by gunfire
I was parked out here in front of my house
and a couple of cars drove up kind of quickly and wild
and there was some young people yelling at each other
it's time for me to leave and get out of here,'" said Glenn Gleschwind
Police said three people were shot during an argument at the party
"We came back here about 1 o'clock with my wife
and we couldn't get back in the house," Gleschwind said
there were about 20 police cars on the street
We were locked out of our house all night."
they said there is no threat to the public at this time
Denver7 crews saw detectives go into two separate homes
They brought evidence bags and some sort of gun out of one of the homes
A car with bullet holes was towed away from the second residence
Anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to contact Detective Damon Hoodak at 303-450-8855 or dhoodak@northglenn.org

Pet owners in a Colorado city could have their pets removed after the city council passed a law limiting the number of dogs and cats per household
Northglenn residents cannot have more than four dogs
Anyone who currently owns more pets than the new limit allows can apply for a "previously owned pet exception" before the ordinance takes effect
The city said that failing to report extra pets by the deadline could result in "enforcement action
including a potential court order requiring pet removal."
There is no statewide law limiting the number of pets per household in Colorado
but various towns in the state have set their own limits
Northglenn said it was the only town in Adams County without a limit
Other states also leave it up to municipalities to set limits on the number of pets per household
but towns such as Hawthorne and Rahway have placed limits on ownership
The city said the ordinance was introduced after residents raised concerns about excessive noise and waste caused by a high number of pets in some neighborhoods
The city said it did "extensive research and discussion" before passing the law
Northglenn said it wants to ensure a "compassionate transition." Anyone who has more pets than allowed under the new limit can complete a form listing each pet's name
"Our goal is to work with residents to ensure compliance through education and outreach before any enforcement action is taken," the city said on its website
Northglenn has a population of around 38,000 and is located about 35 minutes from Denver
on its website: "Pets bring joy and companionship to our lives

which allows brewers to produce up to 120,000 barrels of beer per year
is bringing ancient German beer-making techniques to Northglenn—but there’s nothing ancient about its equipment
At the company’s new 60,000 square-foot headquarters
the production plant blends traditional German processes with some of the most advanced brewing technology in the state
“The design intent [of the brewing system] was to keep one eye on the past
but also continue to push the envelope of what we think authentic
modern German beer is,” says Christopher O’Connor
In January, Prost opened the Biergarten portion of its Northglenn headquarters
which offers its full line of award-winning brews and a curated menu of German bites
The brewhouse did not officially start production until March
and only the brewers have been inside the facility—until now
5280 toured the new brewhouse (and tried some of Prost’s latest concoctions)
Here are five cool things we learned about the local beermaker and
At the heart of Prost’s Northglenn headquarters is its custom
Prost’s fully automated system includes a number of nifty features for creating tasty German suds
its open fermenters utilize unsealed vessels to collect CO2 and allow brewers to monitor yeast health and remove unwanted materials from the surface—a centuries old German fermentation method
It also uses horizontal lagering tanks that allow sediment to settle for clearer beer and natural carbonation
Prost is one of the few breweries in the world with an automatic mill that separates the husk (skin) from the kernel of barley
This allows for a process called endosperm mashing
which minimizes bitterness and enhances the beer’s pure malt flavor
Other features include time-release hoppers
which are programmed to distribute hops into the beer mixture at specific times for optimal flavor
and an energy-optimized boiling system that preserves delicate aromas
“We’re not trying to be a German brewery that existed 500 years ago
we’re trying to compete with German breweries of today
It’s state of the art technology,” says David Deline
The Northglenn facility is currently operating at about 50,000 to 60,000 barrels per year— around 80 percent of which is contract work for other brands—and is expected to reach 75,000 by this time next year
Northglenn has the capacity to produce as many as 120,000 barrels annually
Colorado’s 468 craft breweries collectively produced approximately 790,000 barrels in 2023
Prost’s 120,000 barrels would account for about one-sixth of the state’s total craft beer production
“We designed this with a huge overcapacity so we could reserve volume for contracts,” Deline explains
“The success of this facility has been off to the races so far
We’re producing about 50,000 barrels annually in a short amount of time
and we’re already about to exceed that.”
In addition to its new Northglenn location
and Fort Collins—all of which have pilot systems for research and development of new products
The brewery also distributes its products in nine states
“All of our Biergartens have pilot systems which we use for recipe development and test batches
You can find our R&D (research and development) recipes on tap at their specific Biergartens,” Deline says
The company also has plans to open additional biergartens in the coming years
including one in Wheat Ridge’s new Clear Creek development slated to open in summer 2025
The 6,800-square-foot location will overlook the Coor’s pond and have 40 taps and a full kitchen
“From a design standpoint for the biergartens
We wanted to try and match up the position of the beer with the biergartens
the economic model has turned out to be quite good,” says Boyd Hoback
