A late-night apartment fire sent firefighters rushing to a two-story building
where pets were rescued and residents escaped unharmed
The fire broke out inside Clocktower Close Condominiums
a converted factory building at 25 Grand St
where two first-floor apartments suffered fire and smoke damage
The call came in for help just before 11 p.m
for a fire that had started in the bathroom ceiling of one of the first-floor units
they found flames burning inside the walls of neighboring first-floor units and spreading between the ceiling and the second floor
Norwalk crews rescued several pets from inside the building
All residents — and their animals — escaped without injury
One firefighter sustained minor wounds in the blaze
Firefighters had the fire under control in 35 minutes
The residents of the historic building went back inside after the blaze
with only two condos sustaining damage in the fire
The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating what caused the blaze

Norwalk launches affordable Studio 1902 collection
Norwalk unveiled its new Studio 1902 brand at High Point Market
but “nothing has been taken out of the product,” Newlin said as he walked an editor through the new brand’s vignettes on the showroom floor
The edited, curated assortment includes five sofa groups, two accent chairs
you can basically show the whole thing,” Newlin noted
The line can be produced in 35 days and is priced roughly 20% lower than Norwalk’s regular assortment
Newlin, who joined the company one year ago from Flexsteel
believes the line will appeal to younger consumers as well as longstanding Norwalk customers seeking a simplified product assortment
For larger retailers with faster-turning floors
it is an easier concept for retail sales associates to embrace and sell
All body pieces fall into an “A” price point while accessories are in the “B” price point
“A lot of our retailers felt they needed another brand for this price point” but appreciated the ability to buy from one resource
“I knew we were missing this consumer and needed an entry
It held an open house for retailers in its factory about a month and a half ago and even though the pieces were not finished
we have something that’s going to work,’” Newlin said
also has somewhat of an advantage over furniture peers facing steep taxes on imports
“It couldn’t come at a better time for this launch,” Newlin said

Say arrivederci to Neapolitan pizzas in Norwalk
Pyra Pizzeria owners Steve and Deb Taylor plan to close the restaurant after six years in business
Fans of the puffy crusted pizzas baked in an 800-degree oven from Italy for up to two minutes have until April 27 to order one final pie
“After 6-plus years, Deb and Steve have decided it’s time “hang up the aprons” and make retirement a reality. We will miss all of the friends we have made along the way, and we will especially miss all of our servers, pizza makers and ‘keepers of the kitchen.’ You are the best!” the couple wrote on Facebook
The Taylors hinted that a new owner already “purchased the building and plans to open a new restaurant within just a few weeks of our closing
so keep a look-out for that announcement.”
