Angela Oakley faced Porsha Williams on the May 4 episode of 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' after overhearing her spreading rumors about her husband Charles during their Nashville trip Charles Sykes/Bravo/Getty; Paras Griffin/Getty Paras Griffin/Getty; Charles Sykes/Bravo via Getty  Oakley Factory Team returns this season with a new footwear capsule that merges utilitarian design the Oakley design lab—helmed by the creative minds behind Brain Dead—unveils a compelling collaboration with Japanese label SOUTH2 WEST8 Known for its fishing-inspired aesthetics and rugged outdoorwear SOUTH2 WEST8 brings a fresh visual language to Oakley’s progressive footwear resulting in a tightly curated collection that feels at once grounded and unconventional The new capsule introduces collaborative and standalone iterations of the brand’s two standout silhouettes: the Flesh Sandal and the Chop Saw Boot Each piece taps into natural color palettes and textured materials reflecting the terrain-oriented ethos shared by both Oakley Factory Team and SOUTH2 WEST8 Launching May 6 exclusively in Japan at Oakley’s Shibuya location and online via the Oakley Japan web store, the collection captures the kind of creative risk that keeps the Oakley Factory Team’s experimental program at the forefront of hybrid footwear The clear highlight of the SS25 capsule is the SOUTH2 WEST8 edition of the Flesh Sandal It’s the only collaborative pair in the mix and it immediately sets itself apart with a distinctive camo mesh upper—a nod to the visual signatures commonly found in SOUTH2 WEST8’s apparel overlaid with black leather accents that add texture and depth A perforated finish gives the overlays a sense of breathability and motion while the Japanese brand’s iconic antler-inspired logo is printed on the heel tab in forest green SOUTH2 WEST8 is best known for its technical-meets-stylized take on outdoor gear, often influenced by Tenkara fishing culture and woodland exploration. That heritage translates seamlessly into this design, which feels more trail-tuned than lifestyle-first, despite its fashion-forward silhouette The pairing with Oakley Factory Team makes sense: both brands are rooted in nontraditional approaches to function and aesthetics and the results show in this piece’s layered construction and nature-coded tones the capsule includes two additional colorways of the Flesh Sandal One arrives in an all-black suede finish that leans into stealth mode with smooth tonal uniformity The use of monochrome textures helps highlight the sculptural sole and curved upper lines giving the shoe a futuristic utility feel that’s characteristic of Oakley Factory Team’s design language The second non-collab option introduces a muted olive and grey base the flash of color offers just enough energy to keep the design visually active without disrupting its tonal harmony It’s a thoughtful reminder that color blocking can still surprise—even when working within a minimalist framework The Flesh Sandal has been a recurring favorite in Oakley’s footwear experiments, praised for its unconventional build and comfort-driven design. Its molded sole unit, mesh uppers, and supportive overlays create a balance between slip-on ease and trail-readiness. These new versions push the silhouette further into lifestyle territory without abandoning its roots in performance aesthetics Oakley Factory Team’s other contribution to the SS25 capsule is the Chop Saw Boot now arriving in a new hairy suede treatment Covered entirely in a textured beige upper—complete with matching tongue and heel panels—the boot adds contrast through forest-inspired details A green pull tab and maroon laces offer subtle color play reminiscent of moss and bark in sunlit woods The Chop Saw Boot has always been one of Oakley Factory Team’s more aggressive models combining a high-ankle construction with rugged outsole traction jagged profile brings to mind early hiking boots and tactical footwear but filtered through a contemporary design lens This new iteration dials back some of the bold contrast of previous versions in favor of a more organic finish making it ideal for both city streets and outdoor terrain This balance between raw texture and refined detail aligns with Oakley Factory Team’s mission to rethink performance footwear in ways that challenge traditional categories The SS25 capsule will debut exclusively in Japan on May 6, with releases scheduled at Oakley’s Shibuya flagship and the official Oakley Japan web store While no global release has been announced yet past Oakley Factory Team collections have occasionally seen staggered or limited releases outside Japan—so fans across the world should keep tabs on updates from Brain Dead and Oakley channels Oakley continues to build a niche within the fashion-forward performance footwear space experimenting at the intersection of streetwear What makes this capsule stand out isn’t just the materials or the colorways—it’s the underlying philosophy Oakley Factory Team reinforces its commitment to creative collaborations that do more than co-brand a shoe and design intention that elevate them beyond seasonal hype As the line between technical and lifestyle footwear continues to blur capsules like this SS25 release show how collaborative design can explore that space without losing depth or originality and brand stories pushing the boundaries of form and function Input your search keywords and press Enter Businessman Steve Smith’s bid to develop the center of Oakley is coming back to the city’s planning commission after more than a year applied two years ago to redevelop much of the surrounding land from the diner to the post office According to city planner Stephanie Woolstenhulme Smith’s plans to purchase Dutch’s Service Station right in the middle of the proposed development And the rewritten proposal may also include two new parcels of land south of city hall That’s the city-owned land between the post office and Cattlemen’s Hall Oakley hasn’t sold any land to Smith or his development company, but officials were previously discussing a land swap. The amended development application hasn’t been made public yet. Smith’s attorney Matt Wirthlin said it will still include a mix of residential and commercial in the city’s core behind city hall. “As a brief preview, there will be some affordable housing, some apartments in that mixed-use center,” he told city planning commissioners in April. Before city council and planning commission meetings last month, the last public discussion about city center development was in September 2023. Some commissioners have expressed skepticism about a new Dutch’s Service Station and auto repair shop replacing residences across state Route 32. With Dutch’s remaining under current ownership, the city planner said the land across the road likely won’t become another auto repair shop. But, she said, Smith might still propose a gas station and convenience store. Oakley Mayor Zane Woolstenhulme said there was interest among councilmembers after former Heber Mayor Kelleen Potter, executive director of Utah Ranked Choice Voting, presented information on RCV in January. “Maybe not unanimous, but I think had the legislature acted to make that a permanent option for us, it very well may have passed in Oakley,” Woolstenhulme said. Ranked choice voting lets voters rank their preferred candidates, so that if nobody wins enough votes, there’s an automatic runoff. What that means is the lowest vote-getter is eliminated. All of those ballots are then redistributed to the candidates they ranked second. The process repeats until someone crosses the threshold needed to win. Counties and cities can decide the threshold, whether that’s 50% of votes, more or less. In 2018 Utah legislators passed a bill allowing cities to try ranked choice voting through a pilot program. A bill to extend the pilot failed during the 2025 General Session, so it’s set to expire after this November’s election. In Coalville, Mayor Mark Marsh said there was a lack of interest. Summit County Clerk Eve Furse presented information to the city council there back in February. “I've asked questions about it with a couple of people and just not sure if it's really anything that makes a huge difference,” Marsh said. “And people, I think, are good with tradition. I think they like the traditional way.” Marsh said he hasn’t decided if he’ll run for reelection yet; Woolstenhulme thinks he’ll run for reelection in Oakley. The filing period for city council and mayoral races opens up in the summer. Both men also told KPCW they had not been contacted by Utah County Clerk Aaron Davidson about ranked choice voting. Davidson has recently circulated information to some Wasatch Back cities encouraging them not to switch to RCV due to alleged problems with Utah's RCTab ballot tabulation software. The clerk, who has a history of questioning election integrity, has claimed the software produced erroneous results in one Alaska election. Rosemary Blizzard, executive director of the Ranked Choice Voting Resource Center has called Davidson’s claims “false.” She said the errors were tied to an inaccurate tabulation machine setting and said the center believes RCTab produces correct results. Furse agrees and said RCTab has been rigorously tested and approved at the state and federal level. Since Oakley and Coalville won’t use ranked choice voting this year, no town in the Wasatch Back is. Heber previously used it but voted not to this year. Park City initially decided to use RCV, but the council reversed its vote at a special meeting April 28, a few days before the deadline. He said that Phaedra Parks‘ return pumped life into the season So he is focused on seeing the reception from fans when those episodes are aired Well, Bravo has released the midseason trailer for Season 16 of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” In the video, Phaedra’s return is highlighted. She and Porsha are elated to have Frick and Frack back together. Meanwhile, Porsha and Shamea Morton‘s friendship is hanging on by a thread. In one scene Angela Oakley tells Porsha “Shamea might feel like this is a lopsided friendship.” “She showed me text messages between the two of you guys Do you think that’s what a best friend should be doing?” When Shamea and Porsha are later in the same room “I’ve never allowed anybody to talk down about my friendship and apparently that’s not reciprocated.” Brit and Kelli Ferrell‘s friendship also falls apart “You better talk to your pill-popping roommate!” Other notable moments include Porsha seemingly getting even with Drew Sidora by filming with Ralph Pittman. Meanwhile, Drew is allegedly locked out of the house by Ralph. Her lawyer alleges he is also trying to claim ownership of her LLC. The most interesting part of the trailer involves Angela. Phaedra tells Porsha, Brit, and Cynthia Bailey that she heard Charles Oakley is allegedly cheating on Angela. The video ends with Angela and Charles going off. It looks like Phaedra gave nothing (as usual) and Angela and Charles actually carried the rest of the season. So Brit cried and played victim when Kenya called her a wh-re just to give exactly that after Kenya is fired? Yeah throw the whole show away. I just don’t care anymore. Unfortunately, this is not Porsha’s first time speaking on Mr. Oakley. During episode four, “The Vault,” Porsha joked that she knew inside information about Charles, though she later clarified that she was only joking. It appears that episode nine is set to pick up where the group trip left off, with Angela recapping the drama to her husband. His reaction to Porsha making a pass at him will likely play out. But for now, fans are wondering why the entrepreneur has now made two spicy statements about the former basketball star. Will Angela be able to get past Porsha’s apparent hyperfixation on taking digs at her by challenging her marriage? That remains to be seen. Subscribe to get the latest posts sent to your email. I’m used to the aesthetic now and actually think that aspect of them looks quite cool, but in this case, the glasses sit further out from the nose, using the same pad as the Oakley Encoders one of my all-time favourite pairs of cycling glasses While the Kato lens used to touch the bridge of my nose I had no such issues here and it means there’s no fiddly system for adjusting the lens angle.  you have the same brow crease on the frameless lens to add stiffness as is the case with the Kato and the Encoder It works well in all three cases to maintain a degree of rigidity and help retention.  The very peripheries of the lens have a series of vents - four lozenge shaped slits followed by a corresponding set of fins where the arms attach I suspect these are as much an aesthetic touch as they are anything aero.  the arms are rubberised their entire length (Image credit: Will Jones)The nose pad is the same as on the Encoder (Image credit: Will Jones)PerformanceHaving used somewhere north of 50 pairs of cycling glasses at this point I can confidently say that from a pure performance standpoint the Oakley Velo Kato stands above the rest as the best on the market In much the same way as aero bikes are becoming so race-specific these really are a performance-oriented pair of cycling glasses meaning you get peerless peripheral vision You really have to strain your eyes to even get a glimpse of the frame such as it exists at the attachment point of the lens and combined with the height both above and below the nose means it’s as close as you can get to never really seeing the edge of the lens.  The height above the nose is about the same as the Encoders unlike most mega lens glasses the Velo Kato actually doesn’t foul on the brow of my helmets They are deeper below the nose than the encoders so somehow even better for more upright riding too The original Kato for me really struggled in the wind but here the extra size means you are utterly shrouded The only thing that will maybe perturb your vision is the nose pad and moreover while the Kato suffered a little with lens distortion around the continuous nose the larger nose pad here effectively shields the heavily curved portions of the lens meaning there’s zero distortion anywhere.  Comfort and retention are also up there with the best I wore them for a full 200km day and never once had to take them off or readjust which is about as good as you can ask for.  which is handy as you can’t swap the lens at all.  Not being able to fold the arms away is a real annoyance I travelled with them to Belgium for the Classics and they just sort of had to go in my bag loose Be prepared to just leave them in your helmet full time for storage but the lack of hinges means getting them into a helmet is also a little trickier they’re a pair that are best kept on your face.  Even with a helmet on they look quite radical (Image credit: Will Jones)The huge wrap means your peripheral vision is totally unimpeded (Image credit: Will Jones)The arms never played badly with my helmets either (Image credit: Will Jones)ValueWith an RRP of £271/€304/$328 the Oakley Velo Kato is a premium set of cycling glasses and are more expensive than even other top-end Oakley glasses You are getting better performance for the additional price but whether that’s worth it or not I’m not sure but they look quite daft for the generalist and are quite frustrating to live with.  and for events like longer triathlons in hot climates where you don’t want to use a helmet visor I can also see the benefit I’m not convinced the juice is worth the squeeze given how good the likes of the Oakley Encoder and Oakley Sutro already are.  The Oakley Velo Kato really is a set of cycling glasses for the performance focussed only (racers While they’re truly exemplary in terms of performance they’re quite annoying to live with for day-to-day use and they look too outlandish to be used as general sunglasses in the same way something like an Encoder or a Sutro can.  Combined with a high RRP they exist for those that need the best of the best on race day I’d probably say you’d be better off buying a more established model from the Oakley
