WATCH HERE: Mike Parry reacts to Oasis reunion
Oasis have decided to remove one of their most iconic songs from their upcoming reunion tour setlist due to its connection with convicted paedophile Gary Glitter.

Oasis’s front men brothers Noel, 57 and Liam, 52, Gallagher announced they would take to the stage together for the first time in years in August 2024.
Their Live '25 Tour is set to kick off in Cardiff on July 4, which will see the Britpop legends perform at venues across the UK, including Manchester's Heaton Park, London's Wembley Stadium and Edinburgh's Murrayfield.
Oasis will drop a classic song from their reunion tour
Following the UK dates, the band will head to America, South America and Asia in 2025, marking the end of the Gallagher brothers' 16-year feud.
The reunion comes after Oasis sensationally split in 2009 following a backstage bust-up that devastated their loyal fan base, seemingly marking the end of the brothers' 16-year feud.
Fans are expecting to hear renditions of the group's best hits performed live, the group have decided to drop Hello.
A source told The Sun: "The lyrics of the song would obviously have been a good fit for the reunion tour but the band have decided to leave it in the past."
In the outro of "Hello", Liam repeats the line "Hello, hello, it's good to be back, it's good to be back" while the melody of Glitter's original plays underneath.
Due to this, Glitter and his record producer, Mike Leander, received a writing credit on the Oasis album alongside Noel Gallagher.
"It would be inappropriate to play it given its connotations to Glitter and his convictions," the source added.
The song Hello references lyrics of disgraced pop star Garry Glitter
Glitter, 80, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was jailed for 16 years in 2015 for abusing three girls between 1975 and 1980.
His offending first came to light in 1997 when he was caught with 4,000 child sex abuse images.
He has also served time in Vietnam for abusing two girls.
Glitter was released in 2023 but returned to prison just weeks later after breaching his parole conditions.
The Parole Board blocked his release in February 2024, ruling that he remains a risk to the public.

Despite the excitement about Oasis reunion, reports suggest the brothers haven't fully buried the hatchet, with sources claiming they will be spending time separately after shows.
A source with a guest list ticket told The Sun: "You might be seeing Oasis on stage but you will not be seeing Liam and Noel together afterwards."
Nevertheless, spirits remain high as the tour approaches.
"The spirit is really high in the Oasis camp," a source said.
Both brothers have expressed positive sentiments about working together again, with Noel saying of Liam: "He's alright, he's on tip-top form."

Liam Gallagher has responded on social media after it was reported that the Oasis singer and his brother Noel are to have completely separate backstage green rooms and afterparties on their band’s forthcoming reunion tour
The once-warring siblings, who formed the storied rock band in 1991, recently performed together for the first time in 16 years at a London working men’s club.
While the brothers are clearly on better terms, The Sun reported that tour organizers have taken steps to keep them apart backstage
The publication quotes a source as saying: “You might be seeing Oasis on stage but you will not be seeing Liam and Noel together afterwards
Each of them had a VIP list where their friends and famous fans could buy their tickets
But depending on which brother you got your ticket off
it’s their green room and after-party you’re invited to

it’s going to be a case of trying to blag entry
It seems like they are totally separate events
It’s gutting for people who want to hang out with both of them but it seems they’re keeping it all at a distance.”
Liam responded to the reports on X/Twitter, writing: “After party’s are for w***ers I’m getting straight of after the gigs get my beauty sleep this level of sexiness doesn’t happen by staying up talking bollox to bellends.”

From humble beginnings in Manchester’s Boardwalk
the pioneering rock and roll outfit rose to become one of the biggest bands on Earth
typifying the Britpop age and crafting an extensive repertoire of universally beloved hits in the process
The songwriting genius of Noel Gallagher was at its peak during the band’s early period
inspiring some of the most iconic songs of the past three decades
which still resonate with vast audiences today
During the very beginning of Oasis, when the band were operating under the name The Rain and without the inclusion of Noel Gallagher, their sound was heavily influenced by Manchester’s extensive indie scene. The Stone Roses, in particular, were a notable influence on early demos like ‘Take Me’
but Noel Gallagher managed to imbue the band with his own unique songwriting sound when he joined the ranks of Oasis in late 1991
From there, Gallagher established his songwriting voice which, at least in the run-up to Definitely Maybe in 1994, was illustrated by a deep appreciation for the British invasion rock of the 1960s, in addition to a punk attitude. Anthems like ‘Bring It On Down’ captured Oasis’ rebellious persona during those early years
but that abrasion didn’t seem to resonate with widespread audiences in quite the same way as the more expansive follow-up
Featuring some of Gallagher’s all-time greatest songwriting
the band’s sophomore album was the one which established them as titans of rock in a global sense
the album firmly defined the inherent sound and attitude of the band better than any other album
It could certainly be argued that ‘Some Might Say’ is the stand-out track from that release
at least in terms of summarising the spirit of Oasis
he spoke about his frustration with cutting the track from the band’s live show
“I would like to be doing ‘Some Might Say’
but Liam just can’t sing it anymore,” he claimed
because that’s probably the best Oasis song that we’ve got that
“That probably says more about Oasis than any other song
‘Some Might Say’ perfectly encapsulates the self-affirming optimism that Oasis were so good at getting across
rejecting the banality of everyday life and finding the determination to march to the beat of your own drum
that the song is often hailed among Oasis’ defining works
or that it earned the band their first number-one single upon its initial release back in April 1995
the song has enjoyed such an enduring popularity that it has recently reached the top of the charts once again
A reissue of the original single now tops the vinyl singles chart in the UK
speaking both to the lasting legacy of that incredible anthem and the ever-increasing excitement over the band’s upcoming reunion
Despite Gallagher’s claims in 2000 that his brother
could no longer sing the chorus of the track
Liam Gallagher has been performing the track for years in a solo capacity
it only seems natural that the song will be included on the setlist for the band’s extensive world tour
particularly given the fact that it still defines Oasis better than any other track
Hongje Stream’s waterfall isn’t natural — but it's got enough vibe to pull in locals and tourists
As you stroll along Hongje Stream in western Seoul
the gentle sound of flowing water grows with each step
while the breeze carries the scent of grass and spring flowers
These are signs that you're approaching the city's hidden oasis
where time slows and your thoughts fade simply by watching the water move
It is the "Hongje Steam Artificial Waterfall" in Seodaemun-gu
60-meter-wide concrete structure built into the cliffs of Mount Ansan
the human-made waterfall poured water into a pool below
At parasol tables on the sandy ground in front of the waterfall
each enjoying a quiet reprieve from hectic city life
“I like just sitting here and zoning out while watching the waterfall,” said Kim Soo-rin
“It’s nice to have a place close to home where I can enjoy nature without having to travel far.”
The traffic noise from the ring roads above the stream was softened by the rush of water
turning the waterfall area into a quiet escape in the heart of the city
The Hongje Stream Waterfall was constructed as part of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's large-scale restoration project between 2006-2011 to revive the Hongje Stream
which ran dry in the mid-1990s as a result of rapid urban development
The city revived Hongje Stream by channeling water from beneath the Han River to the stream’s upper section
The artificial waterfall along the stream operates by pumping groundwater through pipes to the peak of the structure
The water is then collected below and recirculated
allowing the waterfall to run year-round without relying on external sources
Each season gives the waterfall a new look
while winter transforms it into a glassy ice sheet
A two-story cafe overlooking the artificial waterfall has also gained popularity among foreign visitors as an Instagrammable spot
Repurposed from an old parking lot and warehouse
Cafe Pokpo draws tourists with its outdoor terrace and large glass windows that offer panoramic views of the artificial waterfall
the cafe had attracted 1.4 million visitors as of October 2024
“I didn’t expect to find a waterfall in the middle of Seoul
It’s pretty incredible," said Marie Schafer
Next to the cafe is a small library called "Pokpo Chaekbang," which houses around 1,500 items
Visitors can enjoy reading with a full view of the waterfall through large glass windows
The space is open to the public at no cost
a short walk across stepping stones toward the artificial waterfall leads to a tree-lined trail
where visitors encounter a large wooden waterwheel that reflects the restoration project’s focus on sustainability and ecological renewal
As one of Seoul’s emerging urban landmarks
the waterfall often serves as a hub for cultural programs
Seodaemun-gu hosted various attractions around the waterfall
themed photo booths and a space-out competition
“This area brings together the vibrancy of the city and the serenity of nature,” the Seodaemun District Office said in a statement
“By organizing diverse cultural programs here throughout the year
we hope to make it a must-visit spot for both Seoulites and travelers from around the world.”

Noel and Liam believed to have filmed promo video at Mildmay Club in Newington Green ahead of summer’s sold-out Oasis tour
Liam and Noel Gallagher have performed together for the first time in 16 years in a members’ club in north London
The brothers were pictured arriving at the Mildmay Club in Newington Green, north London
on Thursday where they are believed to have filmed a promotional video for this summer’s sold-out Oasis reunion tour
According to the Sun
and made enough noise to provoke the ire of local people
and 30 years after the release of their bestselling second album
In a joint statement after the tour’s announcement
the band said: “The guns have fallen silent
The brothers are thought to be back in each other’s good graces
with Noel confirming to TalkSport earlier this week that rehearsals for the tour will begin in the next few weeks
The UK leg of the tour will include seven shows at Wembley Stadium in London
as well as five in the Gallaghers’ home town of Manchester
before ending in South America in November
The tour made headlines earlier this week when data from Lloyds Banking Group revealed that fans have collectively lost more than £2m to scams since tickets went on sale in August 2024.

with some fans ending up paying more than £350 for tickets worth £150
The band shrugged off any criticism of ticket pricing
saying in a statement last year: “Inevitably interest in this tour is so overwhelming that it’s impossible to schedule enough shows to fulfil public demand
“As for the well-reported complaints many buyers had over the operation of Ticketmaster’s dynamic ticketing: it needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management
and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used.”

NOEL and Liam Gallagher rocked a working men’s club as they performed together for the first time in 16 years
The brothers — who have made up after years of rows — arrived separately for a top-secret set to be shown in a promotional film for their upcoming reunion tour.
Neighbours complained about the racket as the Oasis brothers filmed in North London on Thursday
Frontman Liam, 52, was beaming as he rocked up while unsmiling Noel, 57, arrived soon after wearing shades outside the Mildmay working men’s club in Stoke Newington, North London
One local was complaining about the racket from the club even before they turned up — and things became even louder when the rock ’n’ roll star siblings got to work
A source said: “Noel and Liam are still Shakermakers and they drove one of the neighbours mad with the noise
a resident next door came out and said they needed to turn the bass down
“But it’s Oasis - they’re only going to turn it up - and they did when Noel and Liam started up.”
The building had been locked down, with staff sworn to secrecy about the Mancunian brothers getting back together again for Thursday’s hush-hush performance.
Last week The Sun On Sunday revealed the look for the ads was based on Noel and Liam’s love of the brand — and that their 1994 hit Live Forever was one of the songs chosen for the campaign
A source added: “Adidas have pumped a serious amount of money for Noel and Liam to promote their clothes as part of the tour
“The shoot at the Mildmay was basically an Adidas advert which will be used to highlight their shows — as well as the clobber
“The end result will be part of a huge campaign this summer and the video and pictures will be used at the concerts too
"Noel and Liam are massive fans of the brand and the promo video will show old shots of them in Adidas clobber
as well as wearing new clothes from the brand.”
Liam was seen arriving at around 1.45am on Thursday
His older brother Noel turned up 30 minutes later with just his driver and was on brand in a bright blue Adidas top
Insiders said they stayed for just over an hour before leaving separately just before 2pm
An onlooker added: “Members of the public were doing double takes when Liam arrived followed by Noel
“With the music blaring out of the club too
people were desperate to work out what was going on
It comes ahead of their hugely anticipated gigs — with the first one in Cardiff on July 4
Noel appeared on talkSport yesterday and confirmed he had spent the previous day with Liam ahead of rehearsals for the tour
We’re just getting ready for rehearsals to start now in about three weeks and then we’ll see what happens
Noel went on: “We’re just getting ready for rehearsals to start now in about three weeks and then we’ll see what happens.”
Oasis shot to fame with their 1994 debut album Definitely Maybe
They sold more than 70 million records worldwide and clocked up eight UK No1 singles and just as many UK No1 albums
But the brothers’ relationship became increasingly fraught and they split up before they were due to play a gig in Paris in August 2009
Noel said in a statement: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight
but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”
The brothers then traded insults for years - with Liam comparing Noel to a “potato” and branding his new ban High Flying Birds the “high flying turds”
Noel called his younger brother “a fat man in an anorak”
However rumours of a reunion started in early 2024 — and The Sun revealed last August that Oasis were getting back together again — to the joy of millions of fans
They will play 19 shows in the UK and Ireland this summer, all of which sold out in minutes, before touring the US, Australia and South America across September
The band haven’t all played together in a long time but when it comes to performing Oasis tracks
Everyone involved in the comeback had to sign non-disclosure agreements — with Noel and Liam meeting in secret to have a photograph taken announcing the Live ’25 tour,
Last month The Sun revealed that bandmates Andy Bell, Gem Archer, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and new drummer Joey Waronker would be joining them on stage
A source said of rehearsals: “The sessions are looking to start around mid-May
"The band haven’t all played together in a long time but when it comes to performing Oasis tracks
“These sessions won’t always include Noel and Liam
“It’s just a question of making sure that everyone is up to speed and that they have the set-list tracks nailed down.”
Richard Ashcroft and Cast have been confirmed as the support acts
The reunion is also being made into a film — with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight at the helm
Insiders said that it will feature footage of Noel and Liam on stage

Oasis have dropped a song quoting lyrics written by Gary Glitter from their upcoming reunion tour this summer
as it references Glitter’s 1973 song Hello
Its ending notes sees Liam sing the line “Hello
it’s good to be back” while the melody of the original song plays faintly underneath
As a result, Glitter and his writing partner Mike Leander share a writing credit, The Sun on Sunday reports
Hello famously served as the opening track of Oasis’s 1995 album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?
A source told the newspaper: “The lyrics of the song would obviously have been a good fit for the reunion tour but the band have decided to leave it in the past
“It would be inappropriate to play it given its connotations to Glitter and his convictions.”
became notorious in 1997 when police uncovered he had 4,000 child sex abuse images
He later served jail time in Vietnam for abusing two girls
he was handed a 16-year prison term for abusing three girls between 1975 and 1980
which owns the rights to Glitter's back catalogue
stated he would receive no royalties when his track Rock and Roll Part 2 was used in The Joker film in 2019

It follows reports that the brothers would have "totally separate" after parties following the highly-awaited gigs
Liam Gallagher has responded to claims that he’ll be kept apart from Noel during the upcoming Oasis reunion tour
Reports emerged earlier this week that organisers for the world tour had taken measures to keep the formerly estranged brothers separated while backstage
The Sun claimed that Liam and Noel each had a separate VIP list for friends and “famous fans” to buy tickets
but “depending on which brother you got your ticket off
it’s their green room and after-party you’re invited to.”
The publication went on to allege that they would be “keeping it all at a distance” and holding “totally separate events” following the gigs each night
it seems that Liam has dismissed the claims in a post on X/Twitter yesterday (May 3)
“After party’s are for wankers,” he wrote
“I’m getting straight of after the gigs get my beauty sleep this level of sexiness doesn’t happen by staying up talking bollox to bellends.”

After a long-running feud, the Gallagher brothers came together for some filming in a London pub last week – reportedly to shoot footage for a promotional film for the forthcoming tour
It followed the brothers being snapped arriving at the working men’s Mildmay club in London’s Newington Green on Thursday (April 24) in what was reportedly a filming session for an upcoming Adidas campaign
Recently, sources close to Oasis revealed to NME that the band’s line-up on the tour will include Noel, Liam, bassist Andy Bell
guitarists Gem Archer and Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and drummer Joey Waronker
Original drummer Tony McCarroll is not involved in the comeback tour
and recently shared a message with the band and their fans
writing: “The circle has started again lads

BALTIMORE — Baltimore welcomes Artscape with a new project called "Urban Oasis."
The project features over 30 artists designing and painting murals on the 43 pillars holding up the Jones Falls Expressway
Each pillar is visible to the drivers riding up and down the expressway
Murals will be nature-inspired and include elements of the city environment
also known as "ArtByJLaw," wanted to create a "balance between city life and nature," on his pillar
It depicts an Oriole bird sitting on a balcony looking into the city with Ravens flying above it
Shouldn't be too hard to figure out why he included those specific birds
The project is special because each artist had their own take on that Urban Oasis theme
It's whatever Urban Oasis means to each artist
artist Megan Lewis focused on something a little different
She wants her work to be a symbol to other Black women
"I hope a Black woman sees this and sees themselves and just enjoys it," Lewis explained
Her pillar shows a Black woman gazing into the sky
"Hopefully people get uplifted on their route to wherever they're going," Lewis added
44 of the columns will have murals when the artists are finished
while some are being painted for the first time
I want people to get that energy when they see it
It just brings a lot of energy to that space so to put a smile on their face and for them to pinpoint and see the Oriole..
you know what it represents and that's what I want my artwork to really show the people," Lawson said
So for us to be able to activate a space that's not traditional
I think it just adds to the versatility that the city has for years to come," Lawson said when asked about the impact this will have on Baltimore
The murals are scheduled to be completed ahead of Artscape
but will remain after the festival is over
An urban oasis is brewing under the Jones Fall Expressway

OASIS have axed a song from their reunion tour this summer — as it quotes lyrics written by disgraced pop star Gary Glitter
Brothers Noel, 57, and Liam Gallagher, 52, will not play “Hello” as it references the paedo’s 1973 hit “Hello
The song was the opening track on Oasis’s 1995 album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?
it’s good to be back” while the melody of the original also plays underneath

Shebara’s guest villas form a dazzling silver-bead necklace that winds over water and land as if gently dropped there by the sea
“Dropped there” is the apposite phrase: The shiny orbs were entirely prefabricated and outfitted in the United Arab Emirates
then shipped to the site and lowered onto concrete foundations with steel pile caps embedded in the seabed and the beachfront
This strategy not only ensured that each structure is as carefully built and meticulously detailed as a superyacht but also minimized construction impact on the island’s delicate ecosystem
powered by a massive solar array and supported by a reverse-osmosis desalination plant
and all-electric land and marine transportation
the whole eco-resort operates at net-zero levels of energy
Shebara defers to the natural environment in other ways

making them appear to dematerialize into the landscape
The overwater villas’ cantilevered support system gives the impression they’re floating weightlessly above the surface
If Killa successfully resolved the problem of integrating such distinctive architecture into an unspoiled setting, it fell to a couple of other firms to formulate equally arresting interiors that nonetheless blended seamlessly with the striking exteriors. Studio Paolo Ferrari—already engaged on another Red Sea Project property

“The need for connection made it important to bring polished steel into the interior,” he says
“That led us to look at the material in a fresh light
handled almost as if it were liquid—poured into sculptural forms that include side tables
and headboards with integrated nightstands that curl around each bed
Most spectacular is the wall-mounted bar: a gleaming silver cabinet resembling a giant chrysalis that
opens gently like a blossom to reveal an interior lined in rich crimson leather
“There’s something intentionally perplexing about it because
you have no idea what it is,” Ferrari notes
“But it also has a joyful quality of surprise and discovery.”
the centerpiece cabinet is intriguingly mysterious rather than disconcertingly alien—sleek technology imbued with natural warmth and human craftsmanship

Its biomorphic pattern is echoed in the bespoke oak-parquet flooring

It floats above the crudo bar—a semicircle of chiseled natural stone with the heft of an Attic monolith
This echo of the ancient past in a contemporary setting helps give guests the experience Zuger hopes for: “They should feel as though they’ve stepped into another world.”

Oasis have cut 'Hello' from their reunion tour setlist due to its connection to convicted sex offender Gary Glitter
Oasis have made a quiet but significant change to their setlist ahead of their long-awaited ‘Live ’25’ reunion tour — axing the track “Hello” due to its ties to disgraced glam rocker Gary Glitter

Britpop spawned some of this country's best-known and most successful artists and put music at the forefront of the British lifestyle
But what was the spark that led to the genre's domination of the charts in the mid 90s
The story goes like this: in the early 1990s
British bands were so bored and alienated by the sudden surge in popularity of American acts like Nirvana and Pearl Jam that they kicked against grunge and began to carve out a niche of their own
The movement paid tribute to the classic rock acts of previous decades - The Kinks
The Beatles - while adding a hefty helping of indie swagger to the mix
pinpoint the exact moment where the genre blossomed into life
the Gallaghers were relatively late to the scene
When they played their first live show in August 1991
they were doing covers of house tunes and didn't meet their mentor Alan McGee until May 1993
the same month that Blur issued their influential album Modern Life Is Rubbish
So which artist took the first step into the world of Britpop
Suede's debut can lay claim to being the first Britpop single - certainly in terms of sound
presentation and its general intention of clearing out the old guard
With the spectacular combination of singer Brett Anderson and guitarist Bernard Butler
paying tribute to artists of old like David Bowie and Marc Bolan
It sounded like nothing else in the charts and the cover artwork
which features a woman made up tin body paint to look like a male gangster
brilliantly summed up the band's attitude
When the band appeared on Top Of The Pops in September 1992 with their second single Metal Mickey
unsuspecting viewers were confronted with the fabulously androgynous
It seems that Britpop as we know it began here
In his book The Last Party: Britpop, Blair And The Demise Of English Rock, writer John Harris claims that the movement began in the Spring of 1992 with Suede's first release (see above) and this standalone single by Blur
The band had enjoyed success the previous year with hits like There's No Other Way and Bang
which tapped into the "baggy" beat that was clogging up indie club dancefloors at the time
didn't sit easily with the group and they wanted to try and forge some identity of their own
the track was a departure from the baggy shuffle of their debut album Leisure
But listening back to Popscene, while some of the elements of Blur's future direction are there - the brass-band style keyboards, the snotty attitude - it's a very heavy, guitar-led record. And check out the video, which is an embryonic version of the classic clip for Song 2. Graham Coxon's love for American guitar bands would take Blur through the post-Britpop era.
a trip around the UK on a bill that also featured My Bloody Valentine
The Jesus And Mary Chain and US grunge heroes Dinosaur Jr
so they were very much lumped in with the waning "shoegaze" trend
they would head to America for a string of shows that would make them feel even more out of place
leading Damon Albarn to start exploring more English themes in his lyrics
With the arrival of the album Modern Life Is Rubbish a year later
complete with a press shot that bore the slogan "British Image 1"
Manic Street Preachers - You Love Us (Heavenly Version)
Their outsider status always makes them stand apart from the genre
but Everything Must Go was a key album of the Bripop era
But take a listen to their second single to the indie label Heavenly
The band had the looks: Richey Edwards and Nicky Wire toyed with gender stereotypes in their clothes and make-up
while the song itself is a self-aggrandising retro tribute to The Clash
the New York Dolls and - in the original Heavenly version only - Iggy Pop
courtesy of an ending that deliberately rips off the classic riff from Lust For Life
But the Manics weren't really part of the Camden scene (mind you
neither were Oasis) and therefore this feels like just an early signpost towards Britpop
This Liverpool band have been name-checked by Noel Gallagher for their help in the early days of the Oasis story; Gallagher met bassist Tony Griffiths who helped the Manchester lads make their famous demo tape
Griffiths and his brother Chris helped Oasis create arrange their early material
which was a key part of the success of the debut album Definitely Maybe
Window Pane was issued as a teaser for the band's debut album for CBS Records and while it still has that ever-present baggy shuffle
there's a nod to classic 60s songwriting that has a direct link through to Oasis
The Real People probably lean a little too far to the Oasis arm of Britpop - there aren't many Bowie influences here
Is this classic single the source? Like The Real People, The La's were Scousers, and this simple acoustic song sounded incredibly out of place in the indie landscape of 1988, which saw many bands trying to fill the void that The Smiths had left
There was something perhaps too naive and basic about the song to fit the cynical 80s
which is why it struggled to Number 59 in the UK charts on its initial release
When the track was reissued in line with the long-awaited arrival of The La's self-titled debut album
Frontman Lee Mavers struggled to deliver a follow-up album and The La's floundered
His comrade John Power left the band at the end of 1991 and re-emerged with Cast
who found an audience ready and waiting for them

As Ukraine continues to resist Russia’s full-scale invasion
the port city of Odesa presents a paradox: while under frequent aerial assault
many aspects of life appear remarkably normal
This report explores how organized crime has not only survived but thrived in one of the country’s most strategically significant cities
and reopened ports have created an oasis for criminal economies

as long as they do not interfere with others
This ‘free city’ model has allowed Odesa to emerge as a hub for scam call centres
synthetic drug production and tax evasion surrounding lucrative grain exports
The study delves into a troubling overlap between legitimate business and criminal enterprise
the booming grain trade – critical for Ukraine’s economy – is plagued by fraud
shell companies and collusion with sanctioned actors
At the heart of this is the use of cash to conduct large transactions
depriving the Ukrainian state of an estimated $3 billion between May 2022 and May 2024
Odesa’s role in conscript smuggling has grown as draft evasion surges
Call centres have become one of the city’s most profitable illicit ventures

John Niven’s debut play explores rivalry between the two British bands who vied for the No 1 spot in the charts in 1995
It was the great Britpop showdown in the summer of 1995
billed as a contest between cheeky chaps and lairy lads
a new play is to revisit the fierce rivalry between Blur and Oasis when both British bands put out a new single in the same week and competed to grab the No 1 spot in the charts
but for a few days it was a decision that defined you: whether to spend £2.99 on Oasis’s Roll With It or Blur’s Country House
The Battle is the debut stage play of novelist and screenwriter John Niven who said of the era: “Music was so central to the culture that two pop groups could dominate the entire summer
the evening news and the front page of every newspaper in the country
music has “splintered into a billion different TikTok feeds”
now based on streams and downloads as well as CDs and vinyl
does not bring the nation together as its Sunday afternoon radio broadcasts once did
hilarious and revealing comedy about two of the best bands of all time”
and I remember her falling out with friends over which band they loved more
this story has been in the back of my mind
and I was delighted that John Niven agreed to write it because there is no more qualified or hilarious chronicler of this world
we have a fearless team recreating the sweaty mid-90s carnage of the Battle of Britpop”
Casting for The Battle has not yet been announced. The play opens at Birmingham Rep in February
said: “Our audiences are going to have the time of their lives being taken back to the rivalries
the chaos and the big personalities that made it all so unforgettable.”
After it finishes in Birmingham the play will go on tour and have a West End run

This is the Carolina Gaming Arena
The gaming space was made possible by the expert

The arena was designed for students of all skill levels to come together to play games
Games available for free range from Fortnite to League of Legends — and if someone doesn’t know how to play
the friendly student staff is there to help
along with the ResNET team and Matthew Belskie of the Office of Arts and Sciences Information Services
Hyde said resident advisers and staff members noticed there was a large gaming community with no dedicated home on campus
Many students were using the lounges in Sitterson Hall
but the infrastructure wasn’t there to support so many people playing games simultaneously
“We had already done a Carolina Makerspace in Carmichael Hall and an art studio in Morrison
so this is the next space where we felt we could serve a niche and a void that students were requesting but also provide a clear asset to our residential program,” Hyde said
In addition to all of the Carolina team’s hard work
the arena would not be possible without the generous contributions of Lenovo
which has its operational headquarters in Morrisville
as well as all the accessories to accompany them
Carolina is the first school in the ACC to have a gaming arena
head of communications and public relations for Lenovo
Lenovo has an existing relationship with Carolina but specifically chose the University to build its gaming arena because of how the University differs from other schools
and the perfect place is the University,” Ferrell said
Other schools were focused on launching stellar varsity teams
Carolina was focused on engaging students from all walks of life
“One of the reasons that it’s so important to us is thinking about the spirit of inclusivity,” Ferrell said
You have the opportunity as a student — whether you’re a gamer or not
Bryson Loflin is a first-year Carolina student and a residential computing consultant who works shifts at the arena
He said the arena is an important resource for students
many of whom couldn’t bring their PCs with them to campus
to take a break from schoolwork and have some fun
“They come to college in this new environment
and they’re leaving that part of themselves at home
or they just can’t access it,” Loflin said
“I think it’s one of the best ways to have fun and express yourself because people really have an outlet through games.”
Another goal behind creating the arena is to gradually integrate esports into Carolina’s curriculum
While the fundamentals are already being taught
many professors aren’t gamers and don’t know how to connect their lessons back to what students want to learn
“What we’re seeing from a trend is that students are already engaged,” Palumbo said
“Professors and teachers and faculty are actually saying
students are coming to us to learn certain things.’”
Lenovo is working with the University to give instructors the resources they need to be able to teach students what they need to know for a future career in esports
Palumbo said that many students who had never tried gaming would flock to esports were they exposed to it as an option
There are currently professors from several departments working with the arena to incorporate esports into their curriculum
including the ergonomic design of gaming chairs
business management around gaming brands in esports
eye-tracking devices to improve game play and gamification and design
One professor hopes to have the class present its senior design project in the arena
one goal of the arena is to introduce all students to the world of gaming
which can be not only a fun break from coursework but also a career
Another goal is to tackle some of the issues that exist within the gaming community
By providing free access to high-end PCs and a staff trained to be informative and inclusive
the arena is working to close those gaps in the Carolina community
“That way we can connect students who have never gamed before and who are very intimidated by it with players who are incredibly competitive and maybe don’t have as much awareness of how they come off to the rest of the community,” Hyde said
“We’re trying to bring everyone towards the middle.”
the arena hosts gaming tournaments and other nights
“There’s no reason to be anxious about coming here if you’re not a gamer,” Loflin said

Oasis have reportedly axed a song from their setlist this summer because it includes lyrics written by Gary Glitter
Noel and Liam Gallagher have put aside their 15-year feud and last year announced plans to reunite for a tour this summer
For those lucky enough to bag tickets, the first of the band's 19 UK concerts will take place in Cardiff on 4 July
With the shows just weeks away now, the boys have been busy preparing and putting together setlists
The Sun has now reported that the pair will not be singing 'Hello' as it contains lyrics referencing disgraced Glitter's track
which is included in the 1995 album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?
While it would be a pretty fitting song after all this time
Liam and Noel are not including it in the tour this summer
“The lyrics of the song would obviously have been a good fit for the reunion tour but the band have decided to leave it in the past," said a source
LADbible has reached out to the band for comment
the brothers were spotted in public together for the first time in yonks
as they were snapped arriving at a working men's club in Newington Green in London
They were filming promo for their new tour
despite the fact that all the tickets in the UK and Ireland sold out almost immediately
A source close to Noel told The Mirror: "Noel is often in and out of the studio working on things
he is a singer songwriter so it's only natural
"But Liam is a singer and he has a long list of dates ahead of him with Oasis this year so he will not be overdoing rehearsals
"After a big solo Definitely Maybe tour your last year
the main thing his voice needs at the moment is rest."
Following that meet-up, Noel appeared briefly on talkSPORT
speaking to Alan Brazil of all people when he was asked how Liam is doing
Oasis will play at Manchester's Heaton Park
and Dublin's Croke Park before moving on to the America
Despite being one of the last members to join the group
Noel knew they needed a certain ex-factor to set them apart from the other British rock bands of the time
Everyone was still trying as hard as they could to be ironic to keep up with the alternative crowd half a world away
but you could tell that the Manchester legends meant every word they sang about when Definitely Maybe finally came out
no one should ever attempt to keep that hot streak forever
and while What’s the Story Morning Glory was a massive success and has been heralded as a classic
there has been no greater division amongst a fanbase when it came to Be Here Now
Despite having some of their biggest hits from the time
the band were clearly not taking care of themselves
to the point where every song feels like the result of too much cocaine flying around the studio
The band were at the top of the world and was treated in the same way that legendary acts like U2 were
but when someone spends that much time at the top
Standing on the Shoulder of Giants was always going to be a comedown
Noel had already lost half his band when making the record
but he knew he couldn’t spend the rest of his days chasing the same Britpop sound he had already done
That kind of Beatles pastiche had become a lot more passe by the 2000s, and for Noel, the only way for him to carry on would be to completely restructure what the band were about, saying
“I wrote the first three Oasis albums all before I had a record deal
So I never had to sit down and reinvent the band until 2000’s Standing on the Shoulder of Giants
it’s not like the band released their version of Kid A or anything
A lot of the album fits in line with Oasis’s sound with a bit more of a psychedelic layer to it
but looking at the next few records they put out
Noel seemed to correct himself a bit too much
Heathen Chemistry was ended up leaning too hard into the stadium rock angle
and while Don’t Believe the Truth is the closest they ever came to their 1990s glory years
there were moments when they seemed to be trying a bit too hard to sound like their old selves
including a few shameless Beatles pastiches
So while Oasis did find their feet throughout the 2000s up until their breakup
it would have been far more interesting had they continued down the road that Standing on the Shoulder of Giants started
They might not have become as psychedelic as someone like Animal Collective or Tame Impala
but their music would have definitely been considered ahead of the curve had they continued down that road for a few more albums

Marsh cares for and maintains the specimens throughout the greenhouse
handling tasks from watering and pruning to monitoring plant health and pest control
Her work reinforced her studies in plant sciences and horticulture
enhancing her education through hands-on experience
“Professors can use the greenhouse for classes on an ‘as needed’ basis if something connects to their class
or if they just want to do something other than be in a classroom,” explains Marsh
She has seen courses ranging from typical plant science classes all the way to writing and art classes utilize the greenhouse as an educational setting
Marsh leads tours of the greenhouse for Penn State students
faculty and anyone in the community who stops by from 9 a.m
A typical tour includes visits to four rooms showcasing most of the greenhouse’s collection
Other areas are reserved for plant biology research and are not open to visitors
Guests often are surprised by the greenhouse’s lush and warm environment
One highlight is the Lloyd Driver Orchid Collection
carnivorous species and several amborella shrubs — a plant that is significant both because it is considered to be the world’s oldest flowering species and because of Penn State’s leadership of the Amborella Genome Mapping Project in the 2010s
The greenhouse also hosts an array of rare and exotic plants
or “cabbage on a stick,” which is native to Hawaii
and the greenhouse has successfully propagated it from seeds
the greenhouse’s most densely populated room
houses plants that date back over 100 years
Some plants have rooted directly into the ground
which have been left behind as a visual marker of growth
Victorian-style greenhouse over [the conservatory]
but it was torn down when the space expanded,” Marsh shares
snails and a toad named Toadifer — adds to the room’s charm and transforms it into a full ecosystem
Another popular spot is the greenhouse’s flower room
this section features vibrant plants under bright lights
Visitors can admire fragrant citrus trees and colorful blooms
all while learning about the plants’ biology
Perhaps the most surprising aspect of the greenhouse is its dedication to parasitic plants
which Marsh notes is somewhat of a specialty
In addition to housing parasitic plants for research by Penn State’s Center for Parasitic and Carnivorous Plants
the greenhouse has a few on display — including mistletoe and cassytha
Marsh often challenges visitors to search for these plants on tours of the flower room
Students and visitors are encouraged to interact with the plants in more than just a visual sense
Tours of the greenhouse are designed to engage multiple senses
smell unique scents and learn about the biology behind each specimen
A favorite among visitors is the “popcorn plant,” whose leaves smell like buttered popcorn when rubbed
“There’s a small percentage of people on the tours who have a certain genetic makeup
and the plant doesn’t smell like buttered popcorn,” laughs Marsh

Between the intriguing welwitschia (which continually grows two leaves throughout its lifetime)
the sarracenia (carnivorous plants native to Pennsylvania and found in Black Moshannon State Park) or even delicate cacao flowers (which will eventually become chocolate)
Buckhout Greenhouse has something to interest anyone who steps inside
and beautiful plant combine to create a sense of connection to the past and present of plant biology and horticulture at Penn State
Whether you are visiting as part of a class
the greenhouse can engage your mind and your senses

NOEL and Liam Gallagher put their differences aside for the Oasis reunion and last week filmed an lucrative advert together with Adidas
But it seems the brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher aren’t totally onside with one another
I’m told that the pair have chosen to have completely separate green rooms and after-parties for their UK tour dates
with friends of both brothers having to pick between them
One of my mates, who was lucky enough to get a guest list ticket for one of the shows in Heaton Park, told me: “You might be seeing Oasis on stage but you will not be seeing Liam and Noel together afterwards
"Each of them had a VIP list where their friends and famous fans could buy their tickets
“But depending on which brother you got your ticket off
“It’s gutting for people who want to hang out with both of them but it seems they’re keeping it all at a distance.”
Given that their final explosive bust-up happened backstage at a gig in France in 2009, I think separate after-parties and green rooms could help prevent an unwelcome repeat.
They’re certainly getting on at the minute, with Liam telling his fans he’s loved working with Noel again.
The brothers will start rehearsals for the shows in less than a fortnight, with their former bandmates Andy Bell
Bonehead and new drummer Joey Waronker joining them to brush up on the classics
My band mole told me back in March that the brothers would start their rehearsals in the middle of this month
“The band haven’t all played together in a long time but when it comes to performing Oasis tracks
I hope the wheels won’t be coming off anytime soon

Admiring the pink petals of cherry blossom trees is a treat in itself, but now you can take that spring splendor to the next level with pink macarons and cherry blossom lattes at Ladurée in Soho
The patio of the French bakery and cafe on West Broadway is packed with cherry blossom trees
To get in on the pretty pink experience, book a table in the cafe's outdoor garden
Fair warning that reservations tend to go quickly
though there are still a few available in the coming days
set a calendar alert for next April now.
RECOMMENDED: The best places to see cherry blossoms in NYC
What's magical about the garden is that you can't see it from the street
Even if you've walked through Soho hundreds of times
you'll enter the pistachio green doors of Ladurée
then head past the patisserie counter and through the dining area to the hidden back garden.
you'll find a collection of marble-topped cafe tables with cushioned green chairs
Look up to gaze at the pink blooms above—if you're really lucky
a gust of wind might even blow some pink petals into your hair
so you might just want to wear a pink outfit to match the trees
the menu is packed with French favorites
vol-au-vent and the pain perdu french toast. The teatime menu includes pastry
ordering macarons is a must—especially a pink one or two
The sweet cherry blossom latte is a perfectly pink accompaniment.
Whether at Ladurée's garden or across the city
the fleeting nature of cherry blossoms is part of what makes this season so special
It's hard to predict exactly when they'll bloom and exactly when they'll be done for the season
go find some and snap some photos to remember on those blustery cold NYC days that will come back once again

"After nearly 20 gratifying years split between the National Capital Region and Mojave Desert I&M networks
I will be pursuing hobbies like wildlife photography
and adding to my life list of national parks visited."
"Over the past five years of working for the Mojave Desert Inventory and Monitoring Network within the park service
I have significantly grown my skills and abilities in natural resource science
I have had the pleasure of assisting and leading many vegetation monitoring efforts in many different national parks
Expanding my skills by assisting other crews with hydrology and bat monitoring has been invaluable for my future endeavors
I feel fortunate to have been able to explore the beautiful nooks and crannies of the desert through my career at MOJN
I will forever value my time in this position; it is the most important work experience I’ve had in my career thus far
working at MOJN has been the best workplace experience I have had
and I am happy to have made some lifelong friends along the way."

They result from interactions between soil particles and communities of cyanobacteria
lichen and bryophytes (mosses and liverworts)
Biocrusts are one of the oldest terrestrial communities and have long been paving the way for other plants to grow in desert ecosystems
A number of important ecological functions depend on them
including stabilizing soil to protect it from wind and water erosion
and providing sites for seedling establishment
This microscopic community of organisms is vital for soil health in the desert and is well worth protecting
and foot traffic are all major threats to biocrusts
Damaged crusts can take centuries to recover
The Mojave Desert Network (MOJN) performs detailed monitoring of biocrust communities
“Biocrust is at the forefront of ecological monitoring in the West,” says MOJN’s Vegetation Ecologist
measuring plant cover provides useful information but the change is much slower than what we see in biological soil crust,” he adds
Jeff explains that the overall diversity and frequency of biological soil crust is indicative of landscape health; widespread and diverse biocrust cover generally indicates a healthy and resilient vegetation community
This year the MOJN veg crew will implement biocrust monitoring at the new Integrated Upland plots in Death Valley
Our excitement over the intriguing topography of the soil surface has grown as we’ve become acquainted with the strange and delicate world rising up in a few millimeters of soil
The bat monitoring crew kicked off the summer capture season in March
we use mist nets to trap bats so we can screen them for the fungus that causes white-nose syndrome
We spent our first week of white-nose syndrome screening mist-netting throughout Lake Mead National Recreation Area and Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument
That was followed by a week spent capturing bats in Death Valley National Park
the team headed to Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument
The first few weeks of bat monitoring has been full of awesome volunteers

Noel and Liam Gallagher have been reported to have their guards up
As their highly-anticipated Oasis reunion tour nears its launch
the Gallagher brothers are trying to stay as cautious as they can to avoid any conflict
A report from The Sun reveals that the two brothers will have their separate after-party spaces as well as green rooms
“Each of [the brothers] had a VIP list where their friends and famous fans could buy their tickets
it’s their green room and after-party you’re invited to,” a source reported to the outlet
It seems like they are totally separate events.”
tensions of a potential rift between Noel and Liam concerns everyone as the band split back in 2009 due to a backstage argument after which Noel refused to go on stage and soon exited the band
“It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight
but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer
He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”
the brothers seem to be in good spirits currently as an interviewer for TALKSport asked Noel whether Liam was “behaving himself.” Noel answered
