The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is inviting the public to chime in on an environmental assessment offering two options regarding a major solar project planned to generate power in Chickasaw County
TVA has entered into a power purchase agreement with NextEra Energy Resources (NEER) to purchase the power generated by the proposed Okolona solar project
The project is expected to produce up to 145 megawatts in capacity and would be constructed
and operated by the Florida-based renewable energy company
The environmental assessment draft includes two alternatives

which must be received or postmarked no later than May 28
will become part of the administrative record and be available for public inspection

(WAVE) -A man has been arrested in connection to the deadly stabbing of a woman in the Okolona neighborhood
of South Carolina is charged with murder (domestic violence) for a stabbing that happened on January 4
Louisville police officers responded to a home in the 8000 block of Red Cedar Way on a report of a stabbing
they found a woman who had been stabbed several times
She died from her injuries before she could be taken to the hospital
The Jefferson County Coroner later identified the woman as 43-year-old Evelyn Belton
Police said Jamie Belton was previously married to Evelyn Belton
An arrest citation said Jamie Belton and Evelyn Belton got into an argument that escalated
The citation said the witness tried to call but stopped when they realized Jamie Belton went into the kitchen and grabbed a knife
Evelyn Belton was able to get the knife away from Jamie Belton and tried to fight him off
but the citation said he pushed her onto a couch and stabbed her
The witness ran to a neighbor’s house to call for help
Belton ran from the scene before officers arrived
LMPD said Belton was found by Kentucky State Police Troopers at a rest stop on I-64 in Midway
(WCBI) – Okolona Police make an arrest in a shooting on Christmas Eve
30-year-old William Johnson was charged with domestic violence aggravated assault and felon in possession of a weapon
Investigators say the victim and Johnson were not currently dating but had before
She was shot at least three times and is in critical condition
Police say there was an argument before the gunfire started at a home on McDonnell Street
Johnson was given a bond for a previous charge but it has since been revoked and he remains in jail

Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green tells WCBI that 37-year-old Juan Perry of Okolona died as a result of the shooting
The incident occurred at the Busy Bee Convenience store on Romie Hill Avenue on Saturday
Shannon Police Chief Anthony Rogers says they received a call around 9:18 a.m
Rogers says when they arrived on the scene
several gunshots were found on the vehicle

(WAVE) - A woman is dead after a shooting in the Okolona neighborhood Saturday
Louisville police said officers were called to the 1200 block of Lipps Lane just before 10 a.m
She was taken to UofL Hospital where she died shortly after arriving
