Marshal Raylan Givens in Justified (2010–15) and the miniseries Justified: City Primeval (2023)
Olyphant received largely positive reviews for the role
and Ben Brantley of The New York Times noted that he did a “wonderful job” imitating other characters
His credits from 1999 include a memorable turn as a drug dealer in the cult comedy Go
Olyphant then landed a starring role in The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy (2000)
about a group of gay friends living in West Hollywood
later returned for Deadwood: The Movie (2019)
Olyphant was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2011
but Olyphant returned as Givens in the eight-part miniseries Justified: City Primeval (2023)
in which he played the road manager of a fictional 1970s band

Nomination Period Open for 2025 Officer Station Design Awards
Olyphant will use nearly $200,000 in grant funding to expand and upgrade its police station
improving safety for both officers and those in custody
Borough council voted this month to approve the use of a $187,000 Local Share Account grant to renovate its police station at 604 E
council President Jimmy Baldan said Tuesday
The borough will now hire an architect and contractor to design and build the police station improvements
“It’s a project that is long overdue,” Baldan said
With 10 full-time and three part-time officers, Olyphant police are “squished in like sardines right now,” police Chief James DeVoe said
The police station was built in the late 1990s to early 2000s
but the plans had changed and shrunk,” DeVoe said
the Police Department will close in its existing carport in the rear of the station
and construct a section next to the carport that will house a holding cell
an area with workstations for officers and locker rooms for male and female officers
The department does not currently have a holding cell or a dedicated interview room
which means detained suspects have to be handcuffed to a bench
with that room doubling as the interview room
The lack of a holding cell makes it difficult for officers
recalling detainees destroying items inside the station
“It is very hard to keep somebody that is acting very unruly in a station that way,” DeVoe said
“It’s not secure for my officers.”
A dedicated holding cell is safer for both police and suspects
who would be locked in the cell without access to anything that they could use to harm themselves
“They can’t hurt themselves,” DeVoe said
Blueprint for Success: What to Expect at 2025 Station Design Conference
The addition means the department will meet standards for having juveniles at the station
explaining anyone under 18 is not supposed to be held within earshot of adult detainees
hollow walls and everything else,” he said
Police are also redesigning the station’s common area to improve security
The renovations will add a wall with tinted
bullet-proof glass where visitors would be called to the window and
“We don’t have to worry about unauthorized people any longer walking in,” he said
“There will be a double layer of security.”
the department plans to build a four-stall garage where officers can back their vehicles in
safely remove a detainee and bring them into the station with no chance of escape or injury
To accommodate the Police Department’s K-9 program
DeVoe said they will also be building five to six kennels off of the garage
Although Olyphant only has one K-9
the additional space will allow the department to help other local police K-9 handlers to take care of their animals
as well as giving the department a place to hold lost dogs
He lauded Olyphant Borough Council for its support of his department
including working with it on the renovation project
DeVoe hopes to start work by the late spring or early summer
estimating it will take one to two years across multiple phases of construction
“Everything that we’re doing is just going to make a safer working environment,” DeVoe said

Congressman Matt Cartwright has requested an investigation into an Olyphant industrial plant’s potential role in causing a suspected cancer cluster as one of his last acts as a member of Congress
In a letter to Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr
Cartwright requested an investigation into chemicals used in the former Specialty Records
The Pennsylvania Department of Health acknowledged Friday it has received the letter and is reviewing the request
Cartwright worked with former plant employees or family members of former plant employees to compile evidence that includes what Cartwright calls
“strikingly high rates of cancer and other illnesses and deaths
including a notable number of middle-age deaths.”
The CD and DVD production and packaging plant went through several ownership changes
Cartwright writes that his constituents reported to him that the chemicals used
often without any personal protective equipment (PPE) or measures were: trichloroethylene (TCE)
cyanide and benzene among other potentially hazardous substances
The constituents say the prolonged and unprotected exposure to the chemicals is the cause of the high number of cancer diagnoses among former employees
cancer and other illnesses resulted in death
They identified the following illnesses among those affected: mesothelioma
rectal cancer and melanoma among other cancers; myasthenia gravis
Cartwright requested that the Department of Health:
Since Cartwright will be leaving office at the start of 2025
he directed the Department of Health to the constituents his office worked with for the past few months
if additional information is needed before the Department can undertake a response as I’ve requested
the Department work with activists among this collective and advise them on what additional information is needed,” the letter states
“My office has been working with this group for a few months
and it is my belief that if anyone can turn up additional information

If you work with someone long enough, they're bound to get on your nerves. Some of the greatest creative partnerships out there — from John Lennon and Paul McCartney to Harold Ramis and Bill Murray — have had their fights
By virtue of the public nature of celebrity
these tiffs often become famous in their own right
but we also love to pretend our favorite TV families are
both remained fairly respectful of one another in the press
and it sounds like they cleared the air before the public even knew about their conflict
The world first heard rumblings of a Goggins-Olyphant discord in Peter Biskind's 2023 book "Pandora's Box: How Guts, Guile, and Greed Upended TV." When profiled by The Independent for his Emmy-nominated turn on "Fallout" the following year
Goggins was asked about a passage in Biskind's book that claimed he and Olyphant "weren't talking" by the time the show's initial run wrapped in 2015
"We had a tough time towards the end of 'Justified,'" Goggins admitted
"We were so deep into these people we were playing
and they were so polar opposite at this point in the story..
I think we were both obsessed with our own points of view
just carrying the weight of this conflict."
Their off-screen separation sounds like it ran parallel to the on-screen split between Deputy U.S
Marshall Raylan Givens and his old mining buddy turned criminal overlord
furthering the gap between the two characters
the actors are fine now that they've taken some time apart
noting emphatically that they care about one another
and I feel respected and loved by him greatly
We just needed to take a break in order to come back together."
It's easy to see where the two may have butted heads, especially when taking into consideration Olyphant's point of view. "Okay, here's my version," Olyphant told Vanity Fair in an interview published just weeks after Goggins' comments
They get really into their work." More specifically
Olyphant claimed that as the show unfolded
Goggins began growing more opinionated about writing choices concerning the Boyd Crowder character
and especially as the thing came to an end
where I would come from the writers' room," Olyphant recalled
'Here's what we need Walt to do in order to get to this finale we want.' Then Walt would say his character would never do that
'Goddamn it.'" This explanation makes more sense if you take a look at interviews and behind-the-scenes footage the two have done separately over the years
when he noted that he previously studied the Meisner acting technique
and feels that everything he needs to know about his character is inherent in the script
"I'm not even interested [in] what [my character] was like when he was seven years old or 15 years old or 18 years old," he explained
"You're just playing the scene; you're just literally playing what's in front of you."
pleaded with him to roll down his sleeves when the pair were in public
In short: Goggins seems to be an actor with a specific artistic process who feels his characters very deeply
while Olyphant seems happy to stand on his mark in the morning and take off the costume at the end of the day
During the last days of "Justified," Olyphant said
they would "get really frustrated with each other."
Olyphant also admitted that the frustrations could have had something to do with the impending end of the series
people have a hard time saying goodbye," Olyphant explained
but I'm not." He concluded that maybe one or both of them were "[making] it easier to walk away."
The "Justified" finale may have been a farewell for the cast and crew
but it wasn't goodbye forever for either the actors or the show itself
Raylan Givens returned in 2023 with "Justified: City Primeval," a fantastic next chapter that took a detour to Detroit before making its way back to Harlan County
Kentucky — and Goggins' Boyd Crowder — in the final moments of its finale
If the show returns for a second season someday
it seems likely that it'll see Olyphant and Goggins reunite on screen
In the meantime, a serendipitous meeting in Thailand last year led to a real-life reunion between the two. "Look at this beautiful Thailand surprise," Goggins wrote in an Instagram post featuring he and Olyphant (in full bleach-blonde SAG-AFTRA strike mode) posed beside a scenic beach
"Got to meet up with Raylan Givens for lunch today," the actor
who was filming season 3 of "The White Lotus" at the time
Olyphant told Vanity Fair that he "always adored" Goggins
he'll be more predisposed to listen to me." And if he doesn't
Olyphant says "there's a little bit of disappointment still there" because it "would have been a really good scene."

Olyphant appeared in just two Season 7 Office episodes
that Olyphant might not remember everything about the experience
But one thing he did remember was just how funny Steve Carell was in his portrayal of Michael Scott
Olyphant recalled repeatedly breaking character during a deleted scene in which Carell has blocked him from leaving in an effort to steal Corday for the Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch
I'm sure I screwed up what would have been a really good scene with Carell where I just couldn't stop laughing because it was so intense and funny," Olyphant said on the podcast
"And there's a little bit of disappointment still there that I could not keep a straight face."
even if the performance caused him to break character."He's incredible," Olyphant said
that I'm the one busting up more than he is."
Video evidence of the deleted scene would seem to agree
bust up when Carell delivers a line straight-faced
however — Michael Scott had a way of making everyone laugh

2025 10:12 AM ESTSteve Carell made it really difficult for Timothy Olyphant to nail one scene during his short stint on The Office
Olyphant guested in a minor role on the NBC comedy for two episodes in Season Seven
In an interview on the Office Ladies podcast

Olyphant recalled not being able to make it through filming part of season 7
