Three firefighters of a Dauphin County fire company
were charged this week after police said they fraudulently reported hours on their staffing calendar
Police in Lower Paxton Township opened an investigation into the three Paxtonia Fire Company staffers in January after receiving information the men were reporting hours while not on duty
On Wednesday police arrested 32-year-old Ryan Murphy
30-year-old Nicholas Kimmel and 25-year-old Kody Rodkey
and charged them with unlawful use of a computer
theft by deception and tampering with public records
The falsified hours took place within the fire company’s system between Nov
According to the Paxtonia Fire Company’s website
Kimmel acts as the company’s president and works as a captain
Murphy works as a chief and Rodkey works as a firefighter
A Lower Paxton Township release said Murphy has worked with the Paxtonia Fire Company since 2010 and previously served as a lieutenant
Charging documents said he has worked with the fire company from 2010 to 2015 and again from 2020 to the present day
Kimmel has worked with the Paxtonia Fire Company since 2013
Kimmel and Murphy are accused of falsifying hours on 12 occasions
Murphy was fraudulently paid $1,650 while Rodkey and Kimmel falsified records to receive $800 each
Police said Rodkey fraudulently reported hours 10 times
Police detailed Murphy’s fraudulent hours in an affidavit
saying he put staff on the calendar who were not ready to respond to calls on nine dates
put himself on the calendar while not ready to respond to calls on three dates and was paid for six dates while not on duty
police said Murphy and other staffers qualified for payments because of five fraudulent dates on the calendar
Murphy and Kimmel had their unsecured bail set at $10,000 each
all three men have been released from the Dauphin County Prison after being bonded out

(WHP) — A Lower Paxton resident received a pleasant surprise after her local fire department arrived at her door
Paxtonia 34 firefighters initially responded to a home owner's residence in Lower Paxton on reports of a strange order in her home
Crews did not find any sources of the odor
but they did come across the owner's dog named Max
Max's owner is homebound and doesn't have the facilities to give the dog a daily walk
Crews were able to spend some extra time getting the resident's dog outdoors for a walk in the neighborhood
"Sometimes it's as simple as going the extra mile to create a better day for anyone that resides within our response area," Paxtonia 34 Fire Company said

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Three firefighters are facing fraud and tampering charges for allegedly stealing hundreds of dollars after falsely reporting work hours, according to police documents from Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police.
Ryan Murphy, 36; Kody Rodkey, 25; and Nicholas Kimmel, 30, are facing charges of unlawful use of a computer, theft by deception and tampering with public records.
Charging documents state that between Nov. 1, 2024, and Jan. 2, 2025, Assistant Fire Chief Ryan Murphy allegedly altered the stipend calendar for Paxtonia Fire Company and fraudulently reported that staff members were working when they were not.
The false reports led to those staffers, including Murphy, getting paid for hours they did not work.
Police said Murphy submitted fraudulent reports over 20 times, resulting in $1,650 in deceptive payments.
The suspected staffers were reportedly not at the station to respond to calls or act in any working capacity.
Kimmel, captain and president of Paxtonia Fire Company, faces the same charges after police documents state he made the same fraudulent alterations, giving him more than $800 in deceptive payments.
Rodkey, a volunteer firefighter, allegedly received $800 in fraudulent payments.
All three men await a preliminary hearing set for April 7.

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — A new program in a Pennsylvania township offers volunteer firefighters up to $14,000 a year, PennLive reports
The program was started in response to the declining number of volunteer firefighters in Pennsylvania
which went from 300,000 in the 1970s to now 30,000
Lower Paxton Township is offering money for volunteers to spend more time working shifts at its firehouses
the program has been well-received among fire companies
with 10 out of 48 Lower Paxton firefighters increasing their participation
Deputy Fire Chief Brett Graham told PennLive
The township now aims to use these incentives to attract more firefighters
“The 30,000 were really feeling that pain,” Graham told PennLive
“We are hoping these staffing changes help reduce our response time.”
Paxtonia and Linglestown fire companies can register for 4
Firefighters can pick and choose shifts as long as the total amount they earn comes in at less than $14,392 in accordance with federal wage requirements
Graham said the money comes from the township’s fire tax and was already budgeted for 2023
“Our goal is to bolster our ranks with skilled volunteers
ensuring our community’s safety is never compromised,” Robin Lindsey
“By extending this opportunity beyond our borders
we aim to enrich our pool of dedicated volunteers.’’

Chart Communications Inc.5255 Yonge Street
the developer aims to make the building more effective to construct while providing more housing through the massing adjustments
designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects for Trinity Point Development
The site encompasses two adjacent parcels at 2801 Keele Street and 6 Paxtonia Boulevard
collectively spanning approximately 3,433m²
the site houses a two-storey commercial building and a vacant lot
This location is positioned in a diverse urban area
bordered to the north by Downsview Elementary School past Tilbury Drive
and to the south by the Toronto Public Library’s Downsview Branch
Since an initial application submission in March, 2023 proposed a building with multiple step-backs on its east side
the City has dropped the guidelines that have created ziggurat-like mid-rise buildings along Avenues across the city
While the step-back guidelines were in place to transition the new buildings down to the height of adjacent lower buildings
the depth of the housing crisis we now face has taken precedence
and the suites that were lost to the step-backs no longer will be
Not having to reconfigure a building multiple times on its way up also drops construction costs
savings which should be reflected in the price of the units
Following these planning policy changes plus consultations the community
refinements were made to the Official Plan
The building proposal remains at 11 storeys
while the dropped "wedding cake" tiered massing has now changed to a C-shaped configuration
which is fully setback from the rear lot line
Previous "wedding cake" tiered design by Graziani + Corazza Architects for Trinity Point Development
These changes allow an increase in residential units from 156 to 186 while the Gross Floor Area (GFA) expands from 13,700m² in the initial proposal to 14,926m² in the revised plan
bringing a higher Floor Space Index (FSI) of 4.36
with ground-floor Retail GFA increased from 389m² to 615m²
Indoor and outdoor amenities have been increased to 516m² and 475m² respectively
there would be a ratio of one elevator for every 93 units
A two-level underground garage would house 156 resident parking spaces
with 11 visitor and two commercial spots at grade
an uptick from the initial 157 spaces total
Cyclists would be accommodated with 132 long-term and 16 short-term spots
an increase from the previously proposed 118 spaces
Noteworthy too is the ground floor reorganization; the developer has removed residential units from this level
instead creating a more prominent and accessible lobby
This adjustment aims to enhance the entry experience and provides a direct connection to both Keele Street and the rear of the site
Further modifications include significant increases in setbacks
This alteration is complemented by the removal of secondary vehicular access on Paxtonia Boulevard
which has also made space for a new 324m² POPS (Privately Owned Publicly-accessible Space) at the southeast corner of the site
TTC bus routes with stops along Keele Street and nearby Wilson Avenue provide a network of local and express buses linking the area to higher-order transit routes
including multiple stations along University Line 1
plus the Barrie GO Train Line at Downsview Park station

2009Kindergarten registration in Central Dauphin School District for children who will be 5 before Sept
1 will be held at elementary schools from 8:30 a.m
2801 Keele Street and 6 Paxtonia Boulevard
the site is found at the northeast corner of those two roads
The former parcel is occupied by a two-storey commercial building
They come together to make up an area of about 3,433m²
with Downsview Elementary School to the north past Tilbury Drive
and the Toronto Public Library’s Downsview Branch immediately to the south
Looking southeast across Keele Street to the site
Trinity Point Development’s submission aims for intensification to bring more residents to that community
Their proposal entails an 11-storey mixed-use condominium building standing 40.50m tall
that would result in one elevator for every 78 units
giving residents ease of access to the building’s amenities and surrounding area
Graziani + Corazza Architects have designed a mixed-use development with 693m² of amenity space
with two retail units situated on the ground floor along Keele Street
The 332m² of outdoor amenities call for a wide variety of uses
including a communal fireplace and kids play area
Looking north from Paxtonia Boulevard to the subject site
The mid-rise building would incorporate setbacks at the base from Keele Street and Paxtonia Boulevard
The frontage on Keele Street would take steps back on the sixth and seventh floors
with the eastern side taking steps back on the even floors starting with the fourth
The design places the vehicular entrance at the south end via a driveway off Paxtonia Boulevard
The two levels of underground parking are designed to have 157 parking spaces
including 16 for visitors and two pick-up/drop-off spaces
The submission notes that commercial visitor spots would be provided through a shared parking arrangement
Residents would also have 107 long-term and 11 short-term bicycle spaces
An axonometric view of the Block Context Plan with the proposal shaded gold
image from submission to the City of Toronto
The proposal includes a Block Context Plan with a Study Area that encompasses the library
Residents in the area have access to multiple subway stations thanks to several TTC bus routes
in addition to the Downsview Park GO station and a potential future GO station east of the subject site on Wilson Avenue
The Block Context Plan produced on behalf of the developer concludes that the proposal is in line with the future development of the area with the objective of a complete community
