we got a glimpse into what the 49ers&#39; passing game could look like in 2025
In that game, Purdy threw 10 passes to Pearsall, 10 passes to Jauan Jennings and 8 passes to George Kittle. Those will be the 49ers&#39; top three receivers in 2025. And in that game, Jennings gained 67 yards, Kittle gained 112 and Pearsall gained 147.
Of those three receivers, Pearsall is the most explosive. At the Combine last year, he ran a 4.41 and recorded a 42-inch vertical leap. Those are extremely impressive numbers. So when he finally mastered the 49ers&#39; offense and Kyle Shanahan started calling plays for him, he produced.
And that&#39;s why Pearsall could lead the 49ers in receiving yards next season. Shanahan probably will try to evenly distribute targets between Pearsall, Kittle and Jennings, not to mention Christian McCaffrey. Plus Brandon Aiyuk should come back at some point this season.
But if Pearsall stays healthy -- which is a big if -- he should be considered the favorite to lead the 49ers in receiving yards. Because he&#39;s the deep threat and the YAC guy. He&#39;s the one who&#39;s going to create the explosive plays in the offense. He&#39;s the Deebo replacement and he&#39;s a big upgrade.

while past wildcatting for economic Pearsall oil pay was done with short laterals and the lower-intensity frac formulas of the time
Formentera’s focus is updip of where Pearsall wildcatting in the early 2010s met primarily with gas
An initial indicator of the Hurrikain’s success was that the operator filed the IP report as a W-2
which is for a gas well and more typical from the Indio Tanks-Pearsall Field
the Pearsall sits at about 3,000 ft deeper than the Eagle Ford
which is lightly drilled in the area in contrast to neighboring counties where operators make economic Eagle Ford pay
The Hurrikain lateral travels along Highway 1582 near its intersection with Highway 85 in southeastern Frio
surrounded by short-lateral Austin Chalk wells at about 6,500 ft that were drilled pre-2000 and have since been plugged
Its lateral path is southeasterly from the same pad as Formentera partner Britanco LLC’s northwesterly Darlene 1-STX #N731HP test of the Pearsall last summer
Formentera reported on Darlene in an incomplete W-2 last October as a shut-in producer
The report noted it was a pilot hole from Pearsall to Sligo
It was plugged back at Pearsall below Glen Rose
<a href="https://www.hartenergy.com/companies/eog-resources-inc" rel="noopener" target="_blank">EOG Resources</a> drilled a Pearsall wildcat last summer about 15 miles southwest of the Hurrikain pad
It filed an incomplete G-1 on March 24 for the well
The report showed Pearsall is at about 11,000 feet at the well’s location
Wildcatters IP’ed liquids from Pearsall horizontals in the early 2010s
resulting in the formation being dubbed a “heartbreak shale.”

But its 5,736-ft lateral was completed with 16 bbl/ft of fluid and 475 lb of proppant/ft in 20 stages
“If we go to 2,000 and 3,000 pounds per foot
you know that well is going to IP north of 400 bbl/d,” he expected at the time
Rob Turnham, who was president of longtime South Texas wildcatter <a href="https://www.hartenergy.com/companies/goodrich-petroleum-corp" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Goodrich Petroleum</a>
told Hart Energy after reviewing the completion report
“All of this looks like a very good well to me
That Formentera did the IP test on a 36/64 choke
which is typical for an Eagle Ford oil well in South Texas
rather than an IP report on a severe choke
The well already flowing for 14 days prior to the IP test also gives insight
“It’s not just one day at peak rate,” Turnham said
With making hole in South Texas’ many layers of pay over decades
it was inevitable the Pearsall would make a well this size
“It makes sense someone would come in and put a modern-day frac on it.”
That Formentera and EOG are wildcatting the formation is encouraging as well
“You have companies in here who know what they’re doing.”

The only short-term risk is the potential signing of <a href="https://www.fantasylife.com/nfl/players/302676/Aaron-Rodgers" target="_blank">Aaron Rodgers</a> or another veteran option
and is arguably in the best environment for a young QB to develop
<a href="https://www.fantasylife.com/nfl/players/311815/Ricky-Pearsall" target="_blank">Ricky Pearsall</a> was the sixth wideout taken in the first round (31st overall) of last year's draft and came in at No. 7 in our <a href="https://www.fantasylife.com/tools/nfl-rookie-wr-model" target="_blank">Rookie WR Model</a>
The 49ers offense was once again loaded with talent so Pearsall didn't really make his presence felt until the final two weeks of the season. However, for dynasty managers, it was a <a href="https://www.fantasylife.com/nfl/utilization-report/game-log" target="_blank">two-week stretch</a> worth waiting for
if someone is higher than consensus on Pearsall
feel free to try and move him for a late first or a pair of early seconds
I almost always prefer to hold players with a path to upside in solid situations rather than rerolling the dice on someone new

you sort of have to make a decision on how well you think Godwin will recover and what his production will look like moving forward
The new contract suggests both parties feel he's got plenty left in the tank and I'm inclined to agree
Godwin is free to decimate opposing defenses over the middle
I'm a fan of tiering down if I feel a player's value has gotten too high
I'm not there yet with Godwin so I have no problem holding
When it comes to RBs, availability is often the best ability, and <a href="https://www.fantasylife.com/nfl/players/305204/Najee-Harris" target="_blank">Najee Harris</a> has that in spades
Harris has the following benchmarks in each of his four seasons:
The games played metric might be the most impressive. Harris is slated to replace <a href="https://www.fantasylife.com/nfl/players/307702/J.K.-Dobbins" target="_blank">J.K. Dobbins</a> who is both a free agent and not someone who has been durable throughout his career
the Chargers appear willing and able to add depth to the position via the NFL Draft
With the incoming class stocked with talented ball carriers
it appears as though Harris' ceiling might be the RB2 range he's been in for most of his career

early-down grinder as an RB2 or Flex option

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Lying in a hospital bed in the 24 hours after he'd been <a href="/nfl/story?_slug_=49ers-ricky-pearsall-shot-robbery-attempt-suspect-arrested&id=41075430" target="_blank">shot through the chest</a> in an alleged armed robbery attempt, <a data-player-guid="87c807fb-79fe-e421-02d2-6536bbe0618f" href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4428209/ricky-pearsall">Ricky Pearsall</a> had two questions for anyone who entered his orbit: Am I going to live and
am I going to be able to play football again
The answer to the first question came quickly
with doctors assuring Pearsall that though his injury was significant
The answer to the second required multiple tests and a long
speaking publicly for the first time since the shooting
all the adversity I just went through these past months
it was really good to go out there with my guys again
At the end of the day when the incident first happened
the first thing I was thinking about was the guys and the coaches in this locker room
and they did a really good job of rallying around me
Pearsall's road back to the football field might have been shorter than anyone with the Niners expected initially
but it also wasn't wholly unexpected given how quickly his recovery had gone at every step of the process
On Aug. 31, Pearsall was shopping in the Union Square area of downtown San Francisco when, according to police reports, a 17-year-old high school student from nearby Tracy, California, <a href="/nfl/story?_slug_=teen-arraigned-ricky-pearsall-shooting-very-sorry&id=41125717" target="_blank">attempted to rob him</a>
An altercation ensued in which both Pearsall and the suspect were shot
Pearsall was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital
where he was considered in "serious but stable condition."
As Pearsall recounted his feelings from that day following Sunday's game against the Chiefs
he smiled at the mention of a visit he received from Niners general manager John Lynch
who was one of the first people to arrive at the hospital
"That's probably when I broke down in tears when I saw him," Pearsall said
"Just because it hit a little different knowing that I wasn't going to be able to play Week 1 ..
I was super excited and just the way it went down
While Pearsall realized he would likely miss some time
he and the Niners also recognized how lucky he was
The bullet that struck him was "through and through," meaning it entered in the right side of the front of his chest and exited out his back
which meant he would need to miss at least four games before he could return
But Pearsall was <a href="/nfl/story?_slug_=ricky-pearsall-already-back-taking-49ers-practice-days-shooting&id=41140404" target="_blank">back in the Niners' facility</a> less than 48 hours after he was shot and quickly began working his way back to the field
Pearsall said Sunday the biggest physical hurdle in his recovery was scar tissue in the area of the wound
under his armpit and could be found from his chest to his back
From there, it was about regaining full range of motion in his right arm and shoulder. When that happened a couple of weeks ago, the Niners and Pearsall finally felt comfortable <a href="/nfl/story?_slug_=niners-open-practice-window-pearsall-not-mccaffrey&id=41739876" target="_blank">opening his 21-day practice window</a>
That began last Monday, offering an immediate burst of energy to a Niners team coming off a Thursday night win in <a data-clubhouse-guid="3767a23c-a17d-294f-288a-9086ad1f0680" href="/nfl/team/_/name/sea/seattle-seahawks">Seattle</a>
"We kind of celebrated that almost all week with him," coach Kyle Shanahan said
We were great in practice and he was going to get eased in a little today ..
there figure to be plenty more chances for Pearsall to improve upon the three catches for 21 yards he had against the Chiefs

With 1:32 left in the first half, quarterback <a data-player-guid="d2e39a38-732d-5a24-f242-a4f9de87dabe" href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4361741/brock-purdy">Brock Purdy</a> found Pearsall over the middle for a 6-yard gain
It was a relatively nondescript first catch
but Kansas City used a timeout immediately after in an effort to get the ball back before halftime
That timeout allowed the 49ers fans in attendance to rise to their feet and offer a brief standing ovation for Pearsall
Pearsall said the weight of his journey began to hit as teammates congratulated him and let him know how proud they are of him
Pearsall made it clear that he appreciated the support but
was excited that he has a chance to do it all again next week
"I feel like I could play another game right now."

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The plan to ease rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall back into form as he worked his way back from being shot in the chest didn’t last long for the San Francisco 49ers.
“There are definitely a lot of opportunities for us,” Pearsall said Wednesday about him and fellow rookie receiver Jacob Cowing. “Obviously, it sucks seeing a guy like B.A. go down — one of our leaders on the team, big playmakers and one of my close buddies who I’ve known for a really long time. It hurt my heart to see him go down. ... Now we have a lot of rookies who need to step up like myself.”
“It was just a communication error,” Pearsall said. “Obviously, we haven’t had many reps at that together, me being out. I was just a few yards too deep. I can cut that a little shorter, and the ball would’ve been right on my chest.”
After getting most of his practice time at the “X” receiver spot that lines up on the line of scrimmage, Pearsall got opportunities to play out of the slot and off the line on Sunday because of all the injuries.
Coach Kyle Shanahan said he was pleased with how Pearsall performed in that role and hopes to build on it this week when San Francisco plays Dallas.
“I think he’s wired to run every route as a receiver,” Shanahan said. “Ricky is a plug-and-play with all routes. It’s not like he has a small route tree and only can do certain things, so he can run the whole tree.”
“I saw a lot of room for improvement.” he said. “Obviously being out of training camp and this period of time for the season, there’s a lot of opportunity for me to get better. I just have to go back and do that and grind and do what I normally do and work hard.”

meaning he will not see playing time for at least the first four weeks of the season
"We had to act quickly with that decision," Lynch recounted
but ultimately we felt the number one thing we had to be concerned with was Ricky's wellbeing physically
and ultimately decided that the best thing for Ricky was to have a little bit of time..
Ricky is going to be a fantastic player here
but understood that we put him on that list and what that entails."
Lynch described Pearsall injury as "through and through" and went on to share that the recovery will involve the physical healing of the wound and the trauma surrounding the incident
the 49ers first-round draft pick has made tremendous strides in a short amount of time
The general manager remained optimistic but left his response open-ended when asked about the potential of Pearsall's return during the 2024 season
They felt it was too much to ask (for him) to come back within the next four weeks
we made that decision to at least give him that time

SAN FRANCISCO — The 17-year-old charged with attempted murder, attempted second-degree robbery and assault with a semiautomatic weapon in the shooting of San Francisco 49ers receiver <a class="ath_autolink" data-id="UQKofs2HjJHwKrXX" href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/nfl/player/ricky-pearsall-UQKofs2HjJHwKrXX/">Ricky Pearsall</a> waived his right to a speedy trial in his second court appearance on Tuesday at the Juvenile Justice Center in San Francisco
The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for Sept
the prosecution will have made a decision with regard of whether or not to pursue this (case) as a juvenile
and of course we’re hoping that they’ll see my client for the teenager that he is and allow this to proceed in that fashion,” San Francisco public defender Robert Dunlap told reporters after the brief hearing
Dunlap said that his investigator unearthed new surveillance footage of the Aug
31 incident in downtown San Francisco which he hopes might help his client against the charge of attempted murder

He does kind of — I don’t know if you’ve ever wrestled or not — a nice hip toss and throws my client to the ground and ends up on top of him
“… I think (the video) supports that this is an attempted robbery and not an attempted murder.”
At Monday night’s season-opening win over the <a class="ath_autolink" data-id="52" href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/nfl/team/jets/">New York Jets</a>, the 49ers and <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5912341/2024/11/10/ricky-pearsall-49ers-player-shot-td/">Pearsall</a> honored SFPD Sergeant Joelle Harrell — the first responder — and surgeon Dr
who tended to the receiver at San Francisco General Hospital
Another bullet hit the defendant in the forearm
was a “through and through” — meaning that it passed through the body without inflicting any major structural damage
“(The defendant) crossed the street when he saw the police cruiser there,” Dunlap said
“He held up his arm to show that he was shot
Because he was fearful that he would bleed out and he might have had they not applied pressure and not applied a tourniquet.”
The defendant will remain in custody through at least the Sept
If the office of San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins decides to pursue charges in adult court
it would have to file a petition to set up a fitness hearing
Once this incident involving Pearsall is adjudicated
the defendant will be transferred to San Joaquin County
where he faces another pending legal matter
the details of which have not been divulged in court
Dunlap denied the accuracy of <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13829711/teen-ricky-pearsall-shooter-49ers-gun-high-school.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">a report</a> in the Daily Mail on Monday that alleged the defendant “brandished a gun at his high school just one week before” the attack on Pearsall
There is a police report filed by the Tracy Police Department which contains the basic details of the incident — but much of the report is redacted due to juvenile confidentiality
“The report in the Daily Mail was false,” Dunlap said
Dunlap then declined to discuss specifics of the defendant’s other pending legal matter in San Joaquin County

Pearsall was hit in the chest and hospitalized overnight after the shooting in central San Francisco on Saturday
He was released from the hospital Sunday and was already back at the team facility Monday
“Ultimately we decided that the best thing for Ricky was to have a little bit of time,” Lynch said Tuesday
He was disappointed but understood that we put him on that list and what that entails.”
Lynch said Pearsall was very fortunate not to have more serious injuries after the shooting
Pearsall was walking alone carrying shopping bags to his car shortly after 3:30 p.m
Saturday when a juvenile suspect attempted to rob him with a gun in the Union Square area
Officers in the area responded immediately and provided emergency medical aid and arrested the suspect
Pearsall was shown on video from a witness with a large chest wound as he was helped into an ambulance
who was the first on the scene and gave Pearsall immediate treatment
He also praised the doctors at San Francisco General Hospital
trainers and support staff for working together to help Pearsall in a dire time
“Multiple people down there said this is about as good an outcome as you could have in this situation,” he said
That good report was far from certain when Lynch first learned Pearsall had been shot Saturday after shopping for luggage following an autograph signing
“The earliest calls that I received were extremely scary: ‘We believe Ricky’s been shot in the chest,’” Lynch said
It was a tough ride down to San Francisco General
I’m just so grateful that everything worked out the way it did.”
The news hit his teammates hard with them calling it a sobering moment
not knowing immediately what happened to one of their teammates
“It wasn’t great at all,” receiver Jauan Jennings said
Just to keep hearing the good news made my day a lot better and made me happy and to just know that he’s all right and he’s here with us.”
Pearsall was able to FaceTime his teammates who were at a team party Saturday night and then see them in person when he returned to the facility Monday
“He’s in high spirits,” offensive lineman Aaron Banks said
“You can tell something like that will shake you up and you can tell he’s still working through it
But it was great to see him and for him to be around.” 
Pearsall was drafted in the first round in April by the 49ers with the 31st overall pick but has been slowed by injuries since joining the team
He missed time during training camp because of hamstring and shoulder issues before returning to practice last week with a noncontact blue jersey while his shoulder heals
Pearsall began his college career at Arizona State and transferred to Florida for his final two seasons
He had 65 catches for 965 yards and four touchdowns last season for the Gators and finished his college career with 159 catches for 2,420 yards and 14 TDs
He spent the early part of practice open to reporters walking around the field holding a football
just watching him,” coach Kyle Shanahan said
“For him to be able to walk around and stuff with that happening
To be able to see him the next day and just that he is able to walk
Shanahan said Pearsall plans to take a week or so before starting his rehab process to get back on the field
Pearsall was fortunate that the bullet went through his body without damaging any organs or nerves
“Where he got shot is like two inches below his tattoo with praying hands,” Shanahan said
Shanahan said the early moments after the shooting were scary when he didn’t know the extent of Pearsall’s injuries but was quickly reassured that Pearsall was OK
Pearsall then FaceTimed his coach and later did the same to his teammates who were gathered for a team party at Shanahan’s house on Saturday night
“Thank God he’s even alive with us today,” All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner said
and I’m so happy he’s back here around the building with us.”

This week, the 49ers opened a window for Pearsall to begin practicing while he remains on the non-football injury list. They have three weeks to decide when to activate him.
“To Ricky’s credit, after just a horrific situation, he responded extremely well physically and attacked the work to get himself back and just kept working,” Lynch said. “[He] did everything he could to the side to the point where it was time to kind of unleash him and open a window.”
Lynch added: “He had been waiting for that moment for a long time.”
After tiring quickly Monday and a scheduled off day Tuesday, Lynch said, Pearsall “stacked two really good practices” in a row.

Scott said there was "no indication" that the suspect had targeted Pearsall because he is a professional football player and added that there was one gun involved with multiple shots fired during the attempted robbery
Scott said that the suspect was acting alone "as far as we know" but said that the many surveillance cameras in the area would be checked as the investigation continues
Scott said Pearsall had been alert enough to speak to police about the shooting but there would be further dialogue as Pearsall recovers
District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said a charging decision on the suspect
our hard-working officers made a swift arrest in this case and we will do everything within our power to ensure justice is served," Scott said in a statement
Pearsall was drafted in the first round in April by the 49ers with the 31st pick but has been slowed by injuries since joining the team

Pearsall's energy was so evident in a lighter practice session Monday that when teammates and coaches made him break down the huddle
he was out of breath from the short two-minute drill they had done because he was so excited to be back

which helped officers quickly apprehend a 17-year-old suspect down the street as Harrell continued to treat Pearsall
Paramedics transported Pearsall to a nearby hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound that entered the right side of his chest and exited through his back

detailing their statuses as the team rests for the weekend and prepares for Week 7
Several players are currently day-to-day following the game:
"We're still waiting for his (Wright's) MRI to get back," Shanahan said

Shanahan confirmed that McCaffrey is making progress from the Achilles tendonitis that landed him on the Injured Reserve list
The All-Pro running back is dealing with "bilateral Achilles tendonitis," which means it is affecting both his legs

"He is continuing to improve," Shanahan said
Pearsall is set to have his practice window opened this week
which may allow for a possible return to action in the near future
Shanahan indicated that Pearsall would likely begin practicing as early as Monday

Shanahan stated: "I would think it'd be a longer ramp-up period
I really won't decide that stuff until we start watching him practice

On the defensive side, Shanahan highlighted DL <a class="nfl-o-cta--link nfl-o-cta--underline" style="word-break: break-word" href="/team/players-roster/nick-bosa/" title="Nick Bosa">Nick Bosa</a>'s impact despite the stat sheet showing only four tackles
"Stats sometimes can say a lot and sometimes they can totally not say anything at all," Shanahan said
"I think that's one of these cases because when I got on the plane and started watching the tape
I thought he had hell of a game and I thought the whole D-Line played really well as a group
With a brief three-day break for the team following the Thursday night game
the 49ers head coach is optimistic about the team's recovery process
"The payoff is you get three days off and your goal hopefully is to always have three happy days off," Shanahan said
