The Steelers QB was supporting kids competing in the Pittsburgh Marathon
It’s incredible to see the complete 180 that a large majority of Pittsburgh Steelers fans have taken with quarterback Mason Rudolph
Rudolph was the ugly stepchild of the Steelers’ quarterback room in the eyes of many fans
he was the second signal-caller to enter the game
which came with a chorus of boos because he wasn’t Kenny Pickett
Fast forward to the end of 2023, those same fans couldn’t wait to see Rudolph start in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals during Christmas weekend due to the struggles of Pickett and Mitch Trubisky
Rudolph then put on three terrific performances in a row that helped the Steelers get into the playoffs and became a forever cult-hero in Pittsburgh
After a year hiatus in Tennessee with the Titans
Rudolph re-signed with the Steelers this offseason
and is already doing all he can to give back
he was in attendance for the Pittsburgh Kids Marathon to support the participants
“Being back in the city of Pittsburgh - it’s a sports town like no other,” Rudolph told WTAE
Should he be the one under center at any point this coming season
he will have the unwavering support of a fan base that rejected him for a long time
though it's ratcheted up to a new level during their ongoing pursuit of Aaron Rodgers in free agency
former NFL head coach Jon Gruden voiced his concerns regarding the Steelers' approach to the position during an appearance on the "Pardon My Take" podcast
"They got one quarterback on the roster," Gruden said
"I don't know what they're doing
like he's going to solve all your problems
I think he had his hands on the ball inside the two-minute drill five times with a chance to win and didn't get it done."
Gruden made his remarks before Pittsburgh selected Ohio State's Will Howard, who he's a noted fan of
so perhaps his stance on the matter has shifted in the aftermath of that move
it would come as somewhat of a surprise if Howard were to factor heavily into the Steelers' plans in 2025
and though he has yet to officially join the team
there's signs pointing towards that partnership likely becoming official in the near future
The four-time MVP endured a tumultuous 2024 campaign with the New York Jets as they finished 5-11 and dealt with some off-field drama
Pittsburgh also brought back Mason Rudolph on a two-year deal after he spent last season with the Tennessee Titans
securing a high-floor veteran who is familiar with the organization and can start games if absolutely necessary
Gruden was surprised the Steelers did not pick a signal caller in the first round of the draft
"I don't know what Pittsburgh's doing at quarterback," Gruden said
"I was kinda shocked they didn't take a quarterback at No
Nobody foresaw Shedeur Sanders dropping into the fifth round
so perhaps Gruden would've changed his tone if he knew that would happen
but his general feelings on the Steelers' direction at the position still shone through
There's definitely reasons to be optimistic about how Pittsburgh has conducted itself
as it now has a developmental prospect in Howard and an experienced backup in Rudolph while it awaits word from Rodgers
but that may not be enough to sway Gruden's opinion on the matter

The Pittsburgh Pirates fan who plunged 21 feet onto the warning track in right field at PNC Park last week is recovering
according to a statement on Saturday that accompanied his GoFundMe page
Kavan Markwood, a 20-year-old who was at Wednesday night's game between the Pirates and visiting Chicago Cubs and was sitting in the front row
put both hands on the rail in front of him and inexplicably went over it
Markwood lay motionless while the medical teams from both the Pirates and the Cubs attended to him
and he was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in critical condition
who organized the fundraising website for Markwood
"After everything he's been through since the accident on Wednesday night
this progress feels nothing short of miraculous," Phillips added
but today brought a moment of hope that we've all been holding onto," Phillips said
Please continue to keep him in your thoughts as he begins the next phase of recovery."
There was no immediate update to Markwood's condition or the reason for his fall, but Pittsburgh Public Safety is treating the incident as accidental

the Pittonkatonk May Day Community Celebration music festival has been a mainstay on Pittsburgh’s arts calendar
Though it’s added food trucks and expanded the types of music it presents
one thing’s remained constant: Pittonkatonk has always been a free
a full day on the lawn of Schenley Park’s Veterans Pavilion
That changes this year as Pittonkatonk expands to two days
with a Friday-night concert augmenting Saturday’s lineup
The celebration draws up to 10,000 fans each year to hear acts from across the country and around the globe
and founder Pete Spynda said the new Friday concert grew out of a long-running fundraising dinner held the night before the main event
three bands were available for the free show following that ticketed dinner
‘Why not have two days of programming?’” he said
The annual ćevapi dinner — named for an Eastern European sausage dish — nods to Pittonkatonk’s roots presenting Balkan-style brass bands
the festival has incorporated a more diverse set of musical voices
from Latin American cumbia to hip-hop and beyond
as an international music festival,” Spynda said
The line-up includes three acts: Kaleta and Super Yamba Band
fronted by the West African-born Afrobeat and Juju singer and guitarist who played with music legends King Sunny Ade and Fela Kuti; Pittsburgh's Ames Harding & The Mirage; and the nine horn players and one drummer of Toronto-based world-fusion jam band Rambunctious
includes Pittonkatonk favorites like the Providence
R.I.-based Undertow Brass Band (formerly the What Cheer
the Detroit Party Marching Band and Pittsburgh’s own Timbeleza alongside newcomers like Canadian Afro-Cuban jazz duo Okan and
comprised of the rhythm section of world-touring Nigerian guitar-rock band Mdou Moctar
A stage is erected outside the pavilion for the event
though brass bands typically perform on the lawn
Food trucks will vend international cuisine from African and Trinidadian to Mexican Street Feed

Browns linebacker Devin Bush Jr. was arrested May 4 in suburban Pittsburgh after being involved in an alleged domestic dispute with his girlfriend
According to the Magisterial District Court of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania records, Bush was arrested in Bell Acres Borough
a community about 20 miles northwest of Pittsburgh on simple assault and harassment charges
The court records indicate he's been arraigned and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m
May 20 in the Allegheny County Magisterial District Court
KDKA's Collin Dunlap was the first to report the arrest
The simple assault was listed as a second-degree misdemeanor
knowingly or recklessly caused bodily injury to Victim 1."
The harassment charge was listed as a summary offense
kicked or otherwise subjected the other person to physical contact
followed the other person in or about a public place or places
or engaged in a course of conduct of repeatedly committed acts which served no legitimate purpose."
A Browns spokesperson said the team was "aware" of the situation and "gathering more information."
Bush would also be subject to NFL punishment through the Personal Code of Conduct process
The NFL has not responded to a request for comment
The incident involved Bush and his girlfriend
contacted the police and "stated that her boyfriend assaulted her and took her car keys" to a black two-door Hyundai
The complaint states that the two were involved in an argument Sunday morning
and that Bush "became more aggressive." Victim 1 "began to video record the argument on her cell phone."
"began to chase her through the house trying to get the phone." He finally got to her in the home's office
where "Victim 1 stated that she clutched her phone to her chest while she was pinned against a massage table in the office" and that "Bush was aggressively trying to get her phone off of her for an extended period of time."

which is where she was located when police arrived
The police officer "could observe an abrasion/cut on the inside of the right wrist" of the victim
as well as an "abrasion on the outside of her right foot near her pinky toe," which she claimed "occurred from the struggle with Bush trying to take her phone."

Nick Weryha of the South Side noticed the restaurant’s prominent orange fish-themed sushi sign and decided to check out Sushi i for lunch
Weryha was one of the first diners on Monday at the new spot in the former Harris Grill at 245 Fourth Ave

and there’s not a lot of that in Pittsburgh,” Zhuang said
Pittsburgh restaurateur Jason Hu aims to offer a relaxed and social dining concept with a modern vibe
describing a trip to Sushi i as “a dining adventure.”
chef’s signature specials and deep-fried favorites
Weryha said after the pandemic shutdown and collapse of numerous restaurants Downtown
he’s happy to see another new business
“It’s coming back and it’s exciting to see more places opening up and having more dining options,” Weryha said
choosing a location in Pittsburgh’s Golden Triangle made sense

With that comes significant prediction from media for each team about how the season is set to go
the outlook has been overall pessimistic due to their lack of quarterback and only significant move for them coming in the trading and signing of wideout DK Metcalf
One such predictor is ESPN's Mike Clay
who predicts the possible outcomes for each NFL team statistically
His outlook on the team overall has the Steelers signing Rodgers before the season starts
with him being the starting quarterback and Mason Rudolph the backup
That being said, the most pessimistic outlook he has is with second-year wide receiver Roman Wilson
who played seldomly in his rookie due to injury
Clay projects that Wilson will take the field for 14of a possible 17 games for the team
Clay predicts that Wilson will account for just 5 targets next season
catching three for a total of 36 yards across the entire season
especially with the fall-off in depth at the wide receiver position for the Steelers
It is important to factor in the addition of Rodgers at quarterback when looking at these statisics
as a season with either Rudolph or Will Howard at the helm could alter the possible projections

Pittsburgh’s marathon route has been cleared of downed wires and debris from this week’s storms
and runners this weekend can look forward to “optimal” conditions and a massive public safety presence
The Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend
which is expecting record-breaking attendance
will draw tens of thousands of participants and spectators
Though many communities in Southwestern Pennsylvania are still removing felled trees
repairing damaged roofs and awaiting power to return
the streets along the 26.2-mile route are free of hazards
Pittsburgh police Commander Lance Hoyson told reporters after a news conference at the David L
Lawrence Convention Center in Downtown Pittsburgh
More than 46,000 people have registered to participate in marathon-related activities this weekend
making it the largest marathon weekend the city has ever seen
That includes more than 10,000 children participating in a kid’s race Saturday
a record 6,000 5K participants and 23,000 people running the marathon and half marathon
Runners represent all 50 states and 24 countries
Over 300 police officers will be stationed throughout the marathon footprint
Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office personnel
Pennsylvania State Police and officers from neighboring municipalities
It’s “very difficult” to police the sprawling marathon route
and the city’s police force has long partnered with other agencies to staff the event
“It makes it easier with a lot more people
but it’s very manpower intensive,” Hoyson said
The marathon will not impact the bureau’s operations elsewhere in the city
and officials have not had to cancel days off for Pittsburgh police officers
Hoyson urged people to be aware of parking restrictions and detours
Thirty-five ambulances will be stationed throughout the race courses
said Acting Assistant Emergency Medical Services Chief Jennifer McDermott-Grubb
Pittsburgh EMS will be relying on help from outside agencies to man the event
Additional medics will be on bicycles and motorcycles
to ensure they can quickly get to people no matter where they are during the event
who serves as the event’s medical director
said a medical team of more than 300 volunteers sports medicine
emergency medicine and other workers will be on hand
They’ll staff 17 aid areas along the marathon route
a field hospital at the finish line and a treatment and cooling center in Point State Park
the medical team treats about 200-300 people during the marathon
with the majority of the injuries strains and sprains
They also see cardiac and respiratory events and weather-related issues
“We’re expecting pretty optimal conditions for running this weekend,” Weiss said
shows temperatures in the 50s or 60s with clouds and light rain coming in and out

It's unknown what occured before Bush was arrested
or why the former Michigan star and Steelers' starter was back in the city of Pittsburgh
Former Steeler Devin Bush was arrested today by Bell Acres Police. pic.twitter.com/rw4gNrWXzG
Bush was the Steelers' first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft
starting 48 games and recording 286 tackles
He tore his ACL in 2020 and was never able to regroup and reach the heights he was once headed for
where he signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks
recording 45 tackles as a defender and special teams piece
He re-signed with the team this offseason to remain in Cleveland
Steelers On SI will continue to provide more information as details become available
as the San Antonio Brahmas announced his signing on Thursday
Buggs was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft
Buggs is returning to football after a year long hiatus due to legal trouble
Buggs was accused of animal cruelty charges
and was arrested in June of 2024 due to charges of second-degree domestic violence and burglary
Buggs had the charges against him dismissed
spending his first three with the Steelers and then joining the Detroit Lions for the 2022 and 2023 NFL seasons
He would then sign a future/reserve contract with the Kansas City Chiefs and spent time on their practice squad until his release due to his off-field issues
In Pittsburgh, Buggs played in 29 games
He would finish his three year tenure with the team with 31 tackles and one pass deflection
2 pass defelections and a forced fumble during the campaign
Buggs was part of the 2017 Alabama team that won the CFP National Championship
where Buggs landed five tackles in the Championship game in a 26-23 win over Georgia
Buggs will now join a San Antonio Brahmas team that also features former Steelers running back Anthony McFarland Jr., who joined the team for their 2024 season. It is possible Buggs could eye a return to the NFL
but his off-field issues present a massive roadblock to that
