Copyright © 2024 BrownsZone.com ,Chronicle-Telegram, The Gazette The Steelers QB was supporting kids competing in the Pittsburgh Marathon It’s incredible to see the complete 180 that a large majority of Pittsburgh Steelers fans have taken with quarterback Mason Rudolph Rudolph was the ugly stepchild of the Steelers’ quarterback room in the eyes of many fans he was the second signal-caller to enter the game which came with a chorus of boos because he wasn’t Kenny Pickett Fast forward to the end of 2023, those same fans couldn’t wait to see Rudolph start in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals during Christmas weekend due to the struggles of Pickett and Mitch Trubisky Rudolph then put on three terrific performances in a row that helped the Steelers get into the playoffs and became a forever cult-hero in Pittsburgh After a year hiatus in Tennessee with the Titans Rudolph re-signed with the Steelers this offseason and is already doing all he can to give back he was in attendance for the Pittsburgh Kids Marathon to support the participants “Being back in the city of Pittsburgh - it’s a sports town like no other,” Rudolph told WTAE Should he be the one under center at any point this coming season he will have the unwavering support of a fan base that rejected him for a long time though it's ratcheted up to a new level during their ongoing pursuit of Aaron Rodgers in free agency former NFL head coach Jon Gruden voiced his concerns regarding the Steelers' approach to the position during an appearance on the "Pardon My Take" podcast "They got one quarterback on the roster," Gruden said "I don't know what they're doing like he's going to solve all your problems I think he had his hands on the ball inside the two-minute drill five times with a chance to win and didn't get it done." Gruden made his remarks before Pittsburgh selected Ohio State's Will Howard, who he's a noted fan of so perhaps his stance on the matter has shifted in the aftermath of that move it would come as somewhat of a surprise if Howard were to factor heavily into the Steelers' plans in 2025 and though he has yet to officially join the team there's signs pointing towards that partnership likely becoming official in the near future The four-time MVP endured a tumultuous 2024 campaign with the New York Jets as they finished 5-11 and dealt with some off-field drama Pittsburgh also brought back Mason Rudolph on a two-year deal after he spent last season with the Tennessee Titans securing a high-floor veteran who is familiar with the organization and can start games if absolutely necessary Gruden was surprised the Steelers did not pick a signal caller in the first round of the draft "I don't know what Pittsburgh's doing at quarterback," Gruden said "I was kinda shocked they didn't take a quarterback at No Nobody foresaw Shedeur Sanders dropping into the fifth round so perhaps Gruden would've changed his tone if he knew that would happen but his general feelings on the Steelers' direction at the position still shone through There's definitely reasons to be optimistic about how Pittsburgh has conducted itself as it now has a developmental prospect in Howard and an experienced backup in Rudolph while it awaits word from Rodgers but that may not be enough to sway Gruden's opinion on the matter Make sure to bookmark Steelers On SI to get all your daily Pittsburgh Steelers news, interviews, breakdowns and more! The harassment charge was listed as a summary offense kicked or otherwise subjected the other person to physical contact followed the other person in or about a public place or places or engaged in a course of conduct of repeatedly committed acts which served no legitimate purpose." A Browns spokesperson said the team was "aware" of the situation and "gathering more information." Bush would also be subject to NFL punishment through the Personal Code of Conduct process The NFL has not responded to a request for comment The incident involved Bush and his girlfriend contacted the police and "stated that her boyfriend assaulted her and took her car keys" to a black two-door Hyundai The complaint states that the two were involved in an argument Sunday morning and that Bush "became more aggressive." Victim 1 "began to video record the argument on her cell phone." "began to chase her through the house trying to get the phone." He finally got to her in the home's office where "Victim 1 stated that she clutched her phone to her chest while she was pinned against a massage table in the office" and that "Bush was aggressively trying to get her phone off of her for an extended period of time." Victim 1 said "Bush was finally able to retrieve the phone from her and smashed it so that she could not call for help." He also sought her iPad for the same reason Victim 1 was able to escape with her daughter to the neighbor's residence which is where she was located when police arrived The police officer "could observe an abrasion/cut on the inside of the right wrist" of the victim as well as an "abrasion on the outside of her right foot near her pinky toe," which she claimed "occurred from the struggle with Bush trying to take her phone." The arresting officer spoke with Bush at the residence and he "did admit to smashing the cell phone but denied getting physical with Victim 1." The officer "observed smashed pieces of the cell phone near the front door and inside the front office." was re-signed by the Browns this offseason after having played in 16 games with 10 starts a year ago He was originally a 2019 first-round draft pick (No 10 overall) of the Pittsburgh Steelers out of the University of Michigan Chris Easterling can be reached at ceasterling@thebeaconjournal.com Read more about the Browns at www.beaconjournal.com/sports/browns Sushi i (pronounced sushi eye) opened Monday serving an all-you-can-eat fresh sushi concept in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh’s growing restaurant scene Nick Weryha of the South Side noticed the restaurant’s prominent orange fish-themed sushi sign and decided to check out Sushi i for lunch Weryha was one of the first diners on Monday at the new spot in the former Harris Grill at 245 Fourth Ave “I’m a sucker for new spots and it’s right near Market Square I’m excited to try it out,” said Weryha The first floor features a small bar and seating for about 20 patrons The main dining area and bar are located on the second floor Manager Mia Zhuang assisted servers during the first lunch crowd on Monday All-you-can-eat sushi prices are $18.99 for lunch and $29.99 for dinner and includes sushi Crews were busy cleaning and prepping the rooftop area for an expected opening in about a week “This is our niche — this rooftop area and there’s not a lot of that in Pittsburgh,” Zhuang said Pittsburgh restaurateur Jason Hu aims to offer a relaxed and social dining concept with a modern vibe describing a trip to Sushi i as “a dining adventure.” chef’s signature specials and deep-fried favorites Weryha said after the pandemic shutdown and collapse of numerous restaurants Downtown he’s happy to see another new business “It’s coming back and it’s exciting to see more places opening up and having more dining options,” Weryha said choosing a location in Pittsburgh’s Golden Triangle made sense “We chose Downtown Pittsburgh for Sushi i because of its vibrant energy and proximity to iconic spots like Market Square and PPG Plaza,” Hu said Hu is the latest of six business owners to take advantage of a Downtown Rent Abatement Program (DRAP) sponsored by the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership “The PDP’s Downtown Rent Abatement was a game-changer making it feasible for us to bring our vision to life in the heart of the city,” Hu said The program is designed to provide a subsidy of up to 50% of the monthly rent A multi-year lease is required within Downtown Pittsburgh An estimated 23,000 runners showed up Sunday morning to run the 2025 Pittsburgh Marathon and Half Marathon The 26.2-mile and 13.1-mile races wound up Thousands of spectators lined the streets to cheer on the runners JoAnne Klimovich Harrop is a TribLive reporter covering the region's diverse culinary scene and unique homes.
