She continued her education in nursing and graduated in 1946 from St Joseph’s School of Nursing in Wichita
and they made their home on the Midgley Ranch where Merl Jr was employed
The couple later moved to their current home on Canteen Road
She was a member of the Sweet Water Club and Altar Society of Newkirk
She was known for her sugar cookies and homemade ice cream and making Christmas candy to share with others
She enjoyed doing embroidery and going to garage sales
Reese Wood; and her great great granddaughter
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents

He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma
and serving as a surgical tech in Oklahoma City
his favorite profession was teaching middle school science
serving many years at The Catholic School of Saint Eugene in Oklahoma City
having attended the University of Oklahoma
he was “Sooner born and Sooner bred” and never missed an OU football game
either attending games in Norman or opponents’ fields
or watching with unbridled enthusiasm their television broadcasts
Allan was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings football team and the Chicago Cubs baseball team
Allan followed the Vikings and Cubs avidly and made many trips to watch their games in person
He was in his happy place in Vikings stadium or watching the Cubs from the famous bleachers of Wrigley field
Allan was proud to be a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity at OU and kept in touch with many of his Phi Delta Theta brothers over the years
His presence will be missed by all he touched
the family has requested donations to the University of Oklahoma general scholarship fund or planting a tree in his honor
A memorial service will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Funeral home at 6600 Broadway Extension
Gene graduated from Ponca City High School in 1967 and soon after answered the call to serve his country
Gene served honorably in the United States Air Force
he pursued a career in banking and finance
Gene remained active in civic life and contributed to several organizations
Among these was the Ponca City Noon AMBUCS
where Gene found meaningful ways to give back to the community
Gene is lovingly remembered by his wife Connie; daughters Christy Flattery of Walsenburg
Colorado and Carrie Phillips (Kenny Walters) of Elkhorn; and grandson Hayden Flattery of Omaha
Gene is also remembered by brother Gary Evans of Norman
Oklahoma; sister Cathy Hulsey (Dean) of Lake Havasu
Arizona; brother Roger (Lori) Evans of Twin Falls
Idaho; and sister Tammy Evans of Buena Vista
Gene’s extended family includes sister-in-laws Rebecca Diebold (Eddie) and Jeanelle (Jerry) Wirtz of Ponca City
Oklahoma as well as numerous nieces and nephews
Gene was preceded in death by father Robert L
Although no service will be held at this time
Gene will be laid to rest at a later date at the Omaha National Cemetery
