Posted by | Mar 12, 2025 7:52 am | RANCHO CORDOVA – The Rancho Cordova Police Department will hold a driving under the influence (DUI) and driver’s license checkpoint on Friday The checkpoint will take place at an undisclosed location within city limits Checkpoint locations are selected based on data identifying areas with a higher incidence of impaired driving-related crashes The primary goal is to enhance public safety by identifying and removing impaired drivers from the road officers will screen drivers for signs of alcohol and drug impairment and ensure all motorists have valid driver’s licenses Authorities say efforts will be made to keep any delays to a minimum Police emphasize that impairment is not limited to alcohol; certain prescription and over-the-counter medications can also impair driving ability While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal in California driving under the influence of marijuana remains against the law A first-time DUI conviction can carry significant consequences including an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties and a suspended driver’s license The DUI enforcement program is funded through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety with support from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Law enforcement and firefighters responded early Saturday morning to a reported break-in that became a two-alarm fire at a church in Rancho Cordova Deputies and fire crews received reports of a break-in happening in the 10000 block of Folsom Boulevard at the Casa Fuego de Dios Church and responded around 2:45 a.m. The Rancho Cordova Police Department Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District found smoke coming from the building and determined it to be a two-alarm fire According to the church’s Facebook page the church was destroyed and arson was suspected No information about the cause of the fire was immediately available from Metro Fire or law enforcement The name of the church loosely translates from Spanish to “House of Fire of God.” Metro Fire said it encountered heavy fire through the roof and defensive measures were taken to protect nearby buildings This work, Rancho Cordova Native Continues Family Legacy in Navy Reserve, by PO2 Iain Page, identified by DVIDS, must comply with the restrictions shown on https://www.dvidshub.net/about/copyright Posted by | Feb 8, 2025 11:55 am | , RANCHO CORDOVA – Rancho Cordova church was destroyed in a fire early Saturday morning prompting a two-alarm response from firefighters the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Casa Fuego de Dios church after receiving reports of a potential burglary where they saw smoking coming out of the building Crews from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District were then dispatched at 2:54 a.m to the building located in the 10000 block of Folsom Boulevard firefighters were faced with a fast moving blaze and the roof was already fully engulfed in flames It was at that time fire personnel upgraded the response to a second alarm incident crews remained on scene as the smoldering remains of the building continued to burn The cause of the fire is under investigation Church leaders reported that prior to the fire they had been alerted to a break-in through the facility’s alarm and security camera system.  The cameras captured video of a many breaking in and uttering a series of curse words It is unclear if the break-in is connected to the fire but authorities are actively investigating the cause and the break in captured by surveilance The church has reportedly experienced multiple incidents of vandalism “Today we witnessed to see how evil really exists and how the devil hates a church passionate about the prescience of God “ reads a statement from the church on their social media pages “Our building burned down by a man filled with hate for our ministry But we know that our worship does not turn off because at all times we praise the King of kings and Lord of lords.” An online fundraising page for the church has been set up HERE we raised funds and invested in building a place where people could have an encounter with God and be transformed and more,” reads a statement in the page from church pastors William and Merlin Resuleo we ask for your support to help us rebuild our church The church building was demolished once the fire was fully extinguished Saturday due to structural safety issues the fire out of concerns for safety The church was already planning to move its Sunday services to an alternate  location off Cordova Lane
