In June of the same year, the Lord led Dave and Peggy to First Baptist Church in Reidsville, North Carolina, where he began his ministry. He showed his love for the church by the various roles in which he served. In later years, he filled interim pastoral positions at several churches, including Calvary Baptist Church and Baptist Temple Church. Reidsville truly became home to Dave and Peggy. Their affection for it was evident in his active involvement in the community, which included Lions Club, YMCA, Hospice and Habitat for Humanity, among others. Dave is survived by his wife, Peggy, and his children: Robin Ferguson (Chuck), Tamee Schofield (Chris), and Shaun Huggins (Lois). Survivors also include his six grandchildren: Zach Ferguson (Maegan), Whitney Barefoot (Jason), Heidi Schofield, Hannah Rodríguez (Jaime), Haley Bowman (Brian) and Hilary Schultz (Joey) and 15 great-grandchildren.
