a police department corporal tried to stop a speeding vehicle
later identified as 22-year-old Eric Schilling of Wofford Heights
refused to yield and led officers on a pursuit
Police said Schilling allegedly ran stop signs
and crashed into a block wall before tearing through gates and driving into desert terrain east of the city into San Bernardino County
Schilling was arrested and later booked into the Kern County Jail Lerdo
evading peace officer with disregard for safety
The passenger sustained injuries after being tossed around inside the vehicle and was later taken to the hospital for treatment

(KBAK/KBFX) — An attempted murder suspect out of San Bernardino County was arrested on Friday
according to the Ridgecrest Police Department
The department said it received an alert through the Flock Safety license plate reader system
indicating that a vehicle connected to a suspect wanted for attempted murder out of San Bernardino County had entered the Ridgecrest area
Officer Rinaldi located the vehicle parked at AltaOne Federal Credit Union
and Corporal Arnold monitored the area until the suspect returned
officers quickly took him into custody without incident
The suspect was then transported to San Bernardino County
where he will face charges related to the attempted murder investigation

nearly struck the marked patrol car and another vehicle shortly thereafter
but the driver continued for several blocks before stopping

and the student whose phone was used to make the call was safe and with school officials
An investigation revealed that three juveniles were involved in the incident

while another expressed fear before hanging up

(KBAK/KBFX) — A driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in Ridgecrest was identified and found after police used license plate reading cameras to track him down
The Ridgecrest Police Department said on December 14
officers were called to the 200 block of West Upjohn Avenue regarding a crash
they found that a vehicle crashed into a parked 5th-wheel travel trailer
Police said the vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the crash and drove away before officers arrived
Officers found debris on-scene that identified the vehicle as a Toyota Tundra
detectives began conducting follow-up on the investigation
They were able to utilize the FLOCK Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) system to identify the vehicle involved
Police said the owner of the vehicle was talked to and acknowledged that he was driving at the time of the crash
The driver provided his insurance information and the two individuals are currently trying to handle the situation civilly
Police said through the use of the FLOCK ALPR system
officers were able to solve this hit-and-run crash
“Although not charges are currently being sought
without FLOCK the victim in this case would have incurred a significant financial loss,” said in a release.
