Paul man is in custody after running from authorities while being in possession of a BB gun on Saturday morning
troopers were dispatched to a crash in the area of I-35E south and Cayuga Street just before 9:25 a.m
authorities saw a man in the area with what appeared to be a “rifle-style” weapon
State Patrol said that troopers tried to make contact with the 40-year-old man
but he ran away and hid near the MnDOT building near I-35E and Maryland Avenue
Paul police used pepperball to get him out of hiding and eventually arrested him
Officials discovered that the man had a rifle-style BB gun in his possession
The man was booked into Ramsey County jail for carrying a BB gun in a public place and fleeing on foot

What is your gut reaction to the image below
The POF-USA Tombstone 9mm is an extreme example
but it’s what you might call the logical conclusion of a much larger trend
It’s hard to say whether there’s a renewed interest in lever guns or the interest never really faded in the first place
or otherwise modern models are new—and they appear to be here to stay
Many signal their embrace of modern enhancements by blacking out the lever gun’s traditional wood stock and steel barrel. The first of these that I recall was the Rossi R92 Triple Black
which I covered at SHOT Show five or six years ago
This kind of lever gun is so common today that it’s hard to remember how weirdly striking it was to see tactical enhancements on John Wayne’s sidekick
I’m sure there are examples that predate the Rossi
but that’s the first time it came across my radar
And this trend may not have reached its zenith. Marlin first introduced their Dark Series rifles in 2019
but when they were acquired by Ruger the following year
the company opted to reimagine the concept rather than abandon it
From the adjustable stock to the full-length M-LOK rail to the radial muzzle brake
these new Dark Series rifles recall the urban warfare of Fallujah more than the lonesome landscapes of the American West
But they weren’t done. Even more recently, Marlin partnered with Magpul to outfit the 1895 Trapper with a polymer forend and adjustable stock
Magpul made its name producing polymer parts for AR-platform rifles
so their logo on a lever gun seems both out of place and right at home in this Brave New World
How a traditional lever gun looks is a big reason I like to carry one around the woods
It doesn’t have any knobs or bolts sticking out from the sides
and the reds and browns of the wood stock contrast beautifully with the gray or black of the steel components
Tactical lever guns are cool in the same way that Mad Max is cool
but no one watches post-apocalyptic movies for the landscape sets
It’s easier to mount accessories like lights and bipods
Threaded barrels allow for muzzle brakes and suppressors
and adjustable cheek risers aid in comfort and accurate shooting
But many of these practical purposes can be better served by other rifle platforms
It offers tons of options for accessories and optics
and can be had in a wider variety of calibers
It also holds more ammunition (generally speaking)
Lever-action hunters might point out that the old cowboy guns are easier to carry and feel more natural to shoot
so they can be carried with one hand on the receiver
but adding a suppressor to the end kind of negates that benefit
I also wonder how much of this opinion is based on years of practice rather than anything inherent in the platform
I know more than a few three-gun competitors who are lightning fast with an AR
if you prefer a lever gun for when a snap shot or a shot on a running animal might be necessary
wouldn’t you rather have another round at the pull of a trigger
Lever-action rifles are faster than bolt guns
I don’t say any of this to knock the lever-action as an excellent hunting rifle
But it seems to me that the benefits of a tactical lever gun are more fully realized in other platforms
Don’t try to turn it into something it’s not
I have sympathy for those who live in areas where semi-auto rifles are restricted
a tactical-style lever-action might be the best option
I’m leaning towards “abomination” rather than “innovation.”
and if there’s one thing we’re good at
Running alongside the black-on-black-on-black aesthetic is another group of lever guns that walk a middle line between modern and tactical. The Smith & Wesson 1854 is a good example
I’m working on a review of this gun
But closer inspection reveals a host of modern features such as a threaded barrel
It looks more like a gun from the Old West
but still lets me mount a light if I want to take it hog hunting or use it for home defense
Henry’s new Lever Action Supreme Rifle is another example
It also features a free-floated barrel to promote accuracy (something traditional lever guns struggled with)
I’m also working on a review of this rifle
and I can confirm the rifle offers modern performance in a more traditional style
There are many other examples of this “middle way,” and it’s easy to see why
this is the best way to marry lever guns and modernity without risking a messy divorce
That’s not to say Winchester’s current models offer zero improvements over the original late-19th-century versions
They take advantage of modern manufacturing techniques that make the rifles more durable
and accurate (though some would say not that much more durable
Winchester is even coming out with new models. The company recently introduced the .22 LR “Ranger,” which runs a very reasonable $430 MSRP. It looks like a variant of all their other lever guns, but the new chambering offers something for kids and small-game hunters.
If you own and love a tactical lever gun, more power to you. That’s the great thing about firearms: there’s room enough for everyone to have their thing. In fact, rather than represent a rejection of the traditional, tactical lever actions may actually be a confirmation of the longevity of the design.
Adam would know. He grew up in deer-dog country, where lever- and pump-action rifles were preferred for quick shots on running game. Rather than hate on the current trend, he just sees it as confirming what we already know: lever guns are awesome, and they aren’t going anywhere.

all4hunters.com had the opportunity to be one of the first media representatives to report on the new Haenel Jaeger NXT
and the NXT straight-pull rifle family has continued to evolve – both in terms of model diversity and its popularity among hunters
Reason enough to take a closer look at all the variants currently available
At the end of the article you will also find an exciting announcement
which can also be seen in the accompanying video
A real fan community has now formed around the Haenel Jaeger NXT. The community is behind the concept, and apart from the recurring questions about further calibres, the renowned German gun manufacturer C.G. Haenel seems to have hit the bull's eye
But there is one question that comes up regularly and which we will address at the end of this article
But before we unravel the mystery surrounding this question
we would first like to introduce you to the current NXT model family
We won't give too much away at this point if we point out that we were able to shoot another video during our visit to C.G
This gave us the opportunity to take an exclusive look at barrel production at Haenel
so you can already look forward to an exciting insight into the manufacturing processes
which we will soon be presenting to you here on all4shooters.com
Speaking of barrels: did you know that Haenel also manufactures barrels for many other well-known brands
The standard version of the Jaeger NXT – a straight-pull rifle with genuine manual cocking - was launched in autumn 2021
The patented action impresses with its simple but extremely safe operation
The centrepiece is the innovative kickdown manual cocking device and chamber lock – a well thought-out solution that guarantees both safety and ease of use
The Jaeger NXT Standard stands for fast cocking
quick repeating and maximum reliability in everyday hunting
The model is currently available in .308 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield
calibres – and soon also in the popular 6.5 Creedmoor
The stock of the Jaeger NXT DS immediately catches the eye
which is characterised by a raised cheek piece and an overall shorter design compared to the standard version
The pistol grip has also been revised and optimised for this model
The aim was to develop a gun that is particularly aimed at shooters of smaller stature and especially female shooters
The calibre selection for this model is limited to .308 Winchester
although the 6.5 Creedmoor will also be available shortly
The overall length of the model is 103.5 cm with a weight of 3.2 kg
What all models in the NXT series have in common is that they are ergonomically fully customised to the needs of the shooter
moves the bolt body in a linear motion and simultaneously ensures that the rotating bolt head locks securely in the barrel and that the bolt is only cocked during locking
The composite construction makes this Haenel NXT Composite variant even more robust and durable
The height-adjustable cheek piece can be quickly and intuitively adjusted at the touch of a button – allowing for precise alignment of the sight line even when the rifle is in the aiming position
The system is complemented by interchangeable stock caps
which allow length of pull to be adjusted without the need for tools
thus enabling optimum customisation to the shooter's individual requirements. The composite construction gives the rifle an exceptionally good feel and ergonomic handling
This is complemented by non-slip soft-touch inserts
which ensure a secure grip even in adverse weather conditions
In the Haenel Jaeger NXT Adjustable variant
the manufacturer combines the laminated stock in a classically beautiful wooden look with modern functionality
The height-adjustable cheek piece can be adjusted at the touch of a button and enables fast
repeatable target acquisition when aiming using an optical sight
Even when using different optics or sights with different mounting heights – such as a red dot sight for driven hunting or a powerful riflescope with a large objective lens diameter for use from the high chair/platform – the cheek piece can be conveniently adjusted to the ideal height at all times
The well thought-out positioning of the button allows the head to be precisely aligned with the line of sight even when the rifle is in the aiming position for maximum control and precision in every situation
As the model name suggests, the Haenel Jaeger NXT in the tracker version was designed especially for the tracker
With a muzzle sling swivel and a sling swivel mount on the side of the buttstock
but also for driven hunts and especially for "walk through" shooting
when the hunter has to move through dense vegetation
These features make it the ideal choice for hunters and dog handlers who prioritise flexibility and rapid deployment
The crisp direct trigger with a pull weight of around 1,000 grams ensures an accurate and precise shot
Safety is always guaranteed thanks to the manual cocking design in conjunction with the chamber lock slide. The Jaeger NXT Tracker is only available in the 8x57 IS and .308 Winchester
The cold-hammer forged 47-cm short semi-lightweight barrel
like the barrels of other Jaeger NXT rifles
comes from the proven Haenel production line and delivers reliable ballistic performance and is suitable for a wide variety of hunting scenarios
as the rifle remains easy to handle even with the silencer screwed on
the NXT Composite Short model is only available in .308 Winchester and 8x57 IS
which is due to the design of the short 47-cm barrel
This model is also intended for active shooters on driven hunts and is of course also a good choice for dog handlers thanks to its short barrel
the gun also impresses with its pleasant feel and ergonomic handling
The height-adjustable cheek piece can be quickly and easily adjusted at the touch of a button even in the shooting position
This means that the sighting line can be precisely adjusted to the shooter at any time
Optional interchangeable stock caps are available for individual fine-tuning of the stock length
The Jaeger NXT is also equipped with non-slip soft-touch inserts that ensure a secure grip even in adverse weather conditions
The revised fore-end geometry also contributes to stable
announcements should always be taken with a pinch of salt
The fact that many left-handed shooters are already eagerly waiting for Haenel to bring a left-handed version of the Jaeger NXT onto the market for them is proven by the enquiries received from the hunting community
If the plans materialise and the Jaeger NXT is released in a left-handed version
this would be a real milestone for many fans
left-handers make up around 10 to 15 % of users
a significant proportion that should not be overlooked in product development
Let's hope that this time it doesn't just remain an announcement
it also remains to be seen whether the Haenel Jaeger NXT family – with the exception of the left-hand version(s) – is now really complete
or whether the Suhl-based gunmaker will come up with yet another variant
The fan community certainly still has one or two wishes up its sleeve

The operation led to the seizure of approximately 4 pounds of methamphetamine
The following individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with the investigation: Sindy Liliana Vazquez Martinez
Both Ramirez-Andrade and Benites have been repeatedly involved in the local criminal justice system
with consistent appearances at the Garfield County Courthouse tied to previous legal troubles
Charges in the case include conspiracy to possess
distribute or possess with intent to distribute controlled substances
Several suspects face charges of possession with intent to distribute more than 112 grams of methamphetamine
unlawful distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl
criminal possession of two or more blank financial transaction devices
and criminal possession of a financial device involving more than three items and two different accounts
The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office was unable to confirm whether any of the individuals arrested are in the country illegally
The investigation remains active and ongoing

Henry Lever Action Supreme Rifle (MSRP $1,299)
¡Viva La Lever Gun Revolución! Henry is one of the best-known names in lever-action rifles
with the Big Boy and Golden Boy models leading the way in pistol-caliber lever guns
most Henry rifles have a rather pointed problem firing modern centerfire-rifle ammunition
namely the pointed tip of the spitzer bullets at the front of the cartridges inside of the tubular magazines that are found in most lever-action rifles
those pointy bullets can strike the primer of the round in front of them
causing a chain reaction that can ruin your gun and your whole day
The Lever Supreme gets around this problem by using a box magazine to store its ammunition
which opens up a new realm of ammunition capacities and capabilities for this rifle
The Lever Supreme comes chambered in either .300BLK or .223 Rem./5.56 NATO
and it’s that second model that I’m shooting today
I would describe the action as “silky smooth,” but honestly
Motor oil on polished glass might be a better metaphor for this gun
The Lever Supreme has one of best actions I’ve encountered on a lever gun
and that by itself would be reason enough to love this rifle
The fact that it can shoot some of the most-popular calibers out there
using the most-popular magazines available today is just butter on top of the motor oil on top of the glass
a Picatinny rail on the receiver for adding optics and a threaded barrel
and you have a first-rate rifle that can serve a variety of different functions around your homestead
Bushnell AR Optics 1-8X Illuminated Scope (MSRP $369.95)
A “do it all” gun like the Lever Supreme should have a do-it-all optic like an LPVO, or Low Power Variable Optic. The model we’ve chosen today is a Bushnell AR Optics 1-8X with an illuminated BDC reticle
The “BDC” part is short for “bullet drop compensation.” This case
this means that the hashmarks inside of the scope are set up for use with common 5.56 NATO/.223 Rem
allowing you to get your hits with a minimum of math
There is also an illuminated circle and dot for fast shots at close range
Adjusting from 1X to 8X on this optic is easier than most LPVOs
as there is an integrated throw lever to help switch between magnification levels
and there is a rotating dial on the left side of the optic to change the illumination level
While it’s traditional to use traditional scope rings on a lever action rifle, we’re using a Warne cantilever mount with the Lever Supreme because it fits well with the “AR” part of this Bushnell optic
and works surprisingly well with the Lever Supreme
and the eye box was right where I needed it to be when shooting
Magpul kicked off the polymer AR-15 magazine revolution in 2007 with the first PMag
and new companies have entered the market with polymer magazines with transparent sides which can tell you at a glance how much ammo is remaining in your magazine
This put pressure on Magpul to come out with a transparent magazine of its own
but Magpul also has a number of large contracts with the military
so any new magazine made by the company had to pass some rather rigorous testing
Enter the new TMag (no points for guessing what the “T” in that product name stands for)
the TMag has an anti-tilt follower and is compatible with all PMag accessories
The sides of the magazine are slick so you can easily see how much ammo is left
but the edges have an aggressive texture for easier manipulation when changing magazines

As wildfire seasons grow longer and more intense across the West
Colorado River Fire Rescue’s Wildland Division is expanding efforts to reduce risk and protect homes throughout its 600-square-mile district spanning Rifle
Guided by the Garfield County Community Wildfire Protection Plan
the division has treated more than 159 acres of hazardous fuels over the past year
using a combination of mechanical thinning
“A big part of the process is just education,” said Zach Pigati
Wildland Division chief for Colorado River Fire Rescue
“People sometimes think mitigation means cutting everything down
you can actually see more wildlife and scenery when we’re done.”
The division focuses its fuel-reduction efforts in areas where homes meet forested land
identified in the county’s wildfire plan
are particularly vulnerable to fast-moving fire
Much of the mitigation work occurs between fall and late spring
Operations slow during the summer due to heightened wildfire risk and the potential for bark beetle infestations in freshly cut trees
the division turns its focus toward readiness and rapid response
CRFR operates several community-based support programs
Its Agricultural Burn Assistance Program helps local farmers conduct safe
controlled burns for land management while reducing wildfire risk
A new Chipping Program also allows residents to dispose of tree limbs and brush
reducing fuels that could ignite near homes
These expanding efforts have been made possible through grant funding totaling $253,544 from partners including the Bureau of Land Management
Garfield County’s emergency management office and others
A key asset in CRFR’s toolbox is its Type 2 Wildfire Module — a 10- to 12-person crew trained in prescribed fire
hazardous fuels work and wildfire suppression
The team is one of only three in the nation outside the federal system and can operate independently for extended periods on the fire line
“They’re a huge manpower boost,” Pigati said
“They can work locally or deploy nationally
and they’re self-sufficient — they don’t need water or food resupplied
They’re critical in both mitigation and suppression.”
The division also staffs two Type 3 engines and one Type 6 engine
each with at least three wildland firefighters
ready to deploy across the region or beyond when needed
CRFR crews responded to major wildfires such as the Los Angeles Wildfire in California
While CRFR assists in national wildfire efforts
Pigati emphasized the division’s commitment to local prevention work — something not all departments prioritize
“There are a lot of fire departments that focus solely on deployments
but we’ve built a separate division dedicated to wildland efforts here at home,” Pigati said
“Our goal is community risk reduction
We’re doing everything we can to prevent a major wildfire from devastating our neighborhoods.”
Pigati encourages residents to take their own mitigation steps — not just for safety
“We’re here to support that work,” he said
“If folks want help making their property safer
we’re ready to partner with them.”

The Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Marksmanship Unit (CCMU) walked away from the 2025 SIG SAUER Relentless Warrior Championship with another major win under their belt
Competing against 126 shooters from the U.S
service academies and international military colleges
the CCMU claimed its fifth championship title in just nine years
At the center of their success? Discipline, preparation, and in the hands of their top shooter, a 16” FoldAR Concealed Carry Rifle that proved itself on one of the most demanding stages in collegiate tactical shooting
This wasn’t a casual weekend match. The Relentless Warrior Championship
hosted by SIG SAUER at their Academy in New Hampshire
is one of the most demanding collegiate-level tactical shooting events
The Texas A&M CCMU rose above the rest
including every field course and the long-range rifle stage
with senior cadet Shiloh Lewis ’25 taking first overall—using a FoldAR CCR built to perform
When it came time to pick a rifle for the Relentless Warrior Championship, Shiloh Lewis had plenty of options. He chose a FoldAR—and the results speak for themselves
FoldAR’s platform is purpose-built for reliability and precision:
It’s a serious rifle built for serious work
who has spent over 40 years working with the M16/M4/AR platform as both a shooter and instructor
offered a powerful endorsement of the FoldAR system after two years of hard testing:
“There are only two things that ultimately matter…accuracy and reliability
Accuracy is of little use if the system isn’t working.”
“Designing in reliability is where most systems fail
Not just for a day at the range—but after thousands of rounds
in everything from 100-degree heat to below-freezing conditions
the only truly revolutionary modification of the AR platform in its history
I can honestly say this folding system is absolutely reliable—and just as accurate as any custom rifle in our armory.”
Coach Jimmerson didn’t just trust it casually
The FoldAR passed them all—with no loss of accuracy
And the FoldAR did what it always does—run like a sewing machine
FoldAR rifles are manufactured in Henderson
by a veteran-owned and operated company that approaches firearms engineering with a mission-driven approach
Often described as a skunkworks of the firearms industry
FoldAR has pioneered the first true concealed carry rifle platform
as well as the first true field-configurable weapon system (i.e
It shows you can still get accuracy and reliability without hauling around a standard fixed-barrel AR
or concealed carry in unconventional situations
the FoldAR Concealed Carry Rifle is engineered to meet the demand
Texas A&M’s win at the Relentless Warrior Championship wasn’t luck
and choosing equipment that wouldn’t let them down when it mattered most
FoldAR isn’t just a more compact rifle—it’s an evolution of the AR platform itself
offering capabilities that even custom builds struggle to match
This is why School Resource Officers across the nation are choosing the FoldAR
now protecting over 700,000 students.
and performs like a full-sized carbine—FoldAR is the answer
FoldAR invites all firearm manufacturers to explore options of integrating the folding barrel interface into their existing platforms

How does such a competition not require use of a std issue rifle
Not every competition is frozen in time for the purposes of technological innovation
we all know that the right way to run any competition is a requirement to run an M1 Garand
probably on its phone all day and possibly pro-trans with at least three facial piercings and five tattoos
who let them run Kryptek camo and non-matching boots!
they’ve got one green boot on one foot and one brown boot on the other foot
What’s puzzling is the choice of left right
All green boots should be on the right foot and all brown boots should be on the left foot

UAF rifle head coach Will Anti pictured with trophies won during his time with the program
The University of Alaska Fairbanks announced that rifle head coach Will Anti will retire at the end of his contract in June
concluding a five-year tenure leading the program
Anti took over in 2020 and led the Nanooks to a national championship in 2023 – their first since 2008 – and consistent national prominence during his tenure
“I cannot thank the university or the team enough for the opportunities I’ve been given and the relationships I’ve built during my time at UAF,” Anti said in the release
“There’s never a perfect time to step away
I’m proud of the culture we’ve built and am confident in the transition plan in place
which positions next year’s team to compete for a national title under outstanding leadership.”
UAF compiled a 52-7 record in head-to-head meets
captured two Patriot Rifle Conference titles and earned five straight NCAA Championship appearances
The Nanooks finished third nationally in each of the past two seasons
and their 2022-23 national title marked the program’s 11th overall
Anti was named the CRCA Head Coach of the Year in 2022 after leading the team to a perfect 12-0 season
the Nanooks posted a 14-1 overall record and went 8-1 in PRC competition
They claimed the conference championship and secured a third-place finish at the NCAA Rifle Championships
Alaska Nanooks Director of Athletics Brock Anundson spoke on the departure
“The Alaska Nanooks Athletic Department extends its deepest gratitude to Will for his outstanding contributions and unwavering dedication to the rifle program,” Anundson said
he has elevated the team to new heights and helped solidify its status as a perennial NCAA Championship contender
Will’s influence has extended to the broader UAF community and built a lasting foundation for future success
and we are incredibly thankful for all he has done for Nanooks Athletics.”
who has held the assistant coaching role with the program since the 2021–22 season
will serve as interim head coach going forward

The concept of what is colloquially known as a "ranch rifle" these days was embodied years ago in Ruger's Mini 14 and Mini 30. These are compact and relatively light weight semi-automatic carbines chambered in popular rifle calibers, including the 5.56 NATO/.223 Rem., 7.62x39 mm and .300 Blackout
Among the Mini's more notable features are its sporting rifle style stock and a distinctive lack of the so-called "military features" that have been targeted by anti-gun legislation for decades
This combination of combat rifle caliber utility and sporting gun features makes ranch rifles a great fit for homesteaders and hunters alike
the demand for AR-15 platforms configured as ranch rifles has continued to grow
This is due in no small part to the continued gun-ban saber rattling at the federal level and currently enforced restrictions against owning ARs with certain cosmetic features in various states
The prohibited features usually include adjustable shoulder stocks
it is legal to own and use in those regions
I was eager to see how the company went about building its Ranch series
The FM Products Ranch rifle is a direct-impingement-operated
semi-automatic carbine that employs an intermediate-length gas system and recoil assembly housed inside the upper receiver
This configuration is well suited to the ranch-gun concept because it's compatible with any stock style or shape since a buffer tube and assembly are not required
The monolithic upper receiver is milled from a billet of 7075-T6 aluminum and treated with a matte black Type-3 hardcoat anodized finish
On the right side is an ejection port fitted with a familiar AR-type ejection port cover and a removable polymer deflector block
bolt-carrier group (BCG) is fitted with a proprietary seven-lug rotating bolt machined from pre-hardened 4342 steel that is post-vacuum heat treated to harden it even more and then treated with a Melonite finish
The extractor and firing pin are machined from S7 tool steel
The BCG's relatively tall and wide modified gas key is supported by a recoil assembly that is housed in the hollow
usually occupied space by a mil-spec charging handle at the top of the upper receiver
just below the integral Picatinny optics rail
The singular guide rod is wrapped in a pair of nested round-wire recoil springs
At the rear of the optics rail is a ported aluminum block that slides down and out of the receiver in order to remove the recoil assembly and the BCG for routine cleaning
Due to the positioning of the recoil assembly
this rifle's non-reciprocating charging handle has been moved forward into the top of the 15" long
The handle is mounted to a spring-loaded rod
The polymer block handle itself can be removed and positioned to either side of the handguard with an upwards or
The gun arrives from the factory with the handle angled upwards on the left side
The 16" long match-grade barrel features a burnished .223 Wylde chamber
the barrel has been vacuum stress-relieved and treated with a durable matte black QPQ Melonite finish
multi-purpose twist suitable for most of the standard 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington bullet weights
The muzzle is threaded at 1/2x28 TPI and fitted with a six-sided
The proprietary FM Products lower receiver
is milled from 7075-T6 aluminum and given a hardcoat anodized finish
right-side magazine release and the left-side bolt catch are mil-spec in their configuration and placement
The magazine well is beveled along its interior edge to aid in quick reloads
The remainder of the lower's features have been selected to support its ranch rifle roles
The typical AR-15-pattern safety selector has been replaced with a reversible push-button crossbolt safety commonly found on repeating shotguns
Pressing it to the right of the receiver sets it into the "Safe" position while pressing it to the left exposes a red ring to indicate the safety is set to "Fire." The modified trigger guard is an integral part of the lower receiver
It is not hinged at the top like most AR-style triggers
the bottom tip of the trigger is secured into the trigger guard by a small roll pin
It’s the top of the trigger that swings back and forth when this rifle is fired
This seems like an odd choice until your shooting hand is positioned on the grip of the fixed Remington 870 shotgun shoulder stock
The rifle sent for this evaluation is outfitted with the handsome hand-finished American walnut Woox Gladiatore shoulder stock
Its features include an aluminum coupling for a secure fit; a laser textured grip; raised cheek rest; a left-side QD sling mount; and a soft rubber recoil pad
Four polymer spacers are provided to allow the stock's length-of-pull (LOP) to be adjusted between 13.75" to 14.75" by 0.25" increments
A set of three textured walnut Woox rail covers are also provided
and the lower receiver modifications made to accommodate it
position the shooting hand further back and higher up that it would be with a typical AR pistol grip
moves the trigger finger to the top of the trigger guard space
a top-hinged trigger would feel unnecessarily heavy since the tip of the finger would not be on the trigger's more central sweet spot
With the Ranch Rifle's reversed configuration
the trigger finger lands intuitively right in the sweet spot
which is now at the top of the trigger guard
I thought that this arrangement would take some getting used to
it felt natural and intuitive to work with
This proprietary fire-control group is made for the platform by Hiperfire
a company that has made a name for itself in the AR community with its high-quality triggers
Based on Hiperfire's HIPERTOUCH Reflex configuration
the Ranch Rifle's upside down trigger has a short 0.35" arch of travel with a hint of take-up before breaking crisply with 3 lbs.
of pull-weight according to a digital trigger gauge
the Ranch Rifle operated reliably with all of the ammunition and magazines tested
This particular carbine weighed in at 6 lbs.
The solid walnut stock places more weight back at the shoulder than a hollow polymer stock
gives the gun a handy and well-balanced feel
along with the modest recoil and the light trigger pull
made for an enjoyable shooting experience on and off of the shooting bench
In the course of spending time using the FM Products Ranch Rifle
it became clear that there is more to this gun than meeting some states' regulations
the fixed 870-style stock system addresses certain specified criteria in AR restrictive regions
But this company did not settle at just getting a compliant model out the door
they invested the time and energy to develop a lower receiver and trigger configuration that complement the sporting stock shape
this is a rifle that folks will enjoy using
regardless of their states having restrictions or not
Suggested retail pricing for factory complete rifles ranges from to $949 to $1,475, depending on the features selected. For more information, visit fm-products.com

officially titled “Galactic Battle,” is here with new POIs
With a Star Wars theme, Chapter 6 Season 3 introduces lightsabers and Force powers, among a whole bunch of other weapons that should’ve been in the game a long time ago (and come from a galaxy far, far away). You can also get a free First Order Stormtrooper outfit.
Here’s everything new in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3, including the map, weapons, and more.
See the Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 map above, alongside a list below of the new POIs:
Lightsabers are the big addition. When equipped, you’ll sprint faster, be immune to fall damage, and jump twice as high. And if you get a Sith Lightsaber — earned by defeating Darth Vader Samurai — you’ll be able to perform a Force saber throw.
Beyond the lightsaber, though, the following weapons have been added to the Chapter 6 Season 3 loot pool:
The following weapons have been unvaulted:
And a number of weapons will appear at various dates throughout Chapter 6 Season 3:
There are two new vehicles coming to Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3, and they’re some classics:
Force powers are the single biggest new mechanic in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3. By finding holograms of Star Wars characters, you’ll be able to “train” in these abilities — and will also receive a lightsaber. You’ll need to wield a lightsaber to use Force powers, but notably, merely finding a lightsaber (say, by looting it off an enemy) won’t do the trick. You’ll still need to train with holograms first.
A hologram of Rey will reward you with a blue lightsaber and the Force Push ability. A hologram of Palpatine will reward you with a red lightsaber and the Force Lightning ability. More powers and lightsabers will be added later in the season.
Chapter 6 Season 3 will also feature weekly events through the month of May. Here’s the schedule, alongside brief descriptions of what to expect.
The best of Polygon in your inbox, every Friday.

When you go to the range to test a rifle’s accuracy
If you said “sub-MOA or bust,” you’re not alone
Many hunters expect even bargain-bin rifles to shoot less-than-one-inch groups at 100 yards
and I’m as guilty as anyone of wishcasting that myth into existence
true sub-MOA guns are less common than you’ve been led to believe
I’ve accuracy-tested hundreds of rifles over the last decade from across the price-point spectrum
and while some rifles adhere to the myth (which is why it persists)
the big game hunting rifles we’ve reviewed over the last 12 months here at TheMeatEater.com
If you define a sub-MOA rifle as one that shoots less than one-inch groups at 100 yards with any high-quality ammo
The averages above incorporate the ammunition the rifles shot well along with the ammunition they didn’t
Most hunters find the bullet/ammo a gun likes and use that combo exclusively
But even if we take just the ammunition each rifle shot the best
they still land mostly in the 1-1.5-inch range
Every rifle shot at least one sub-MOA group
and most shot multiple such groups with different kinds of ammunition
But if you’ve spent much time printing groups at 100 yards
you know that even the jankiest rifles can post the occasional good group
To call a rifle “sub-MOA,” that group size needs to be the norm
While the Tikka and the Springfield barely slipped under the line
only the Wilson broke the sub-MOA barrier in a significant way
and that was with three-shot groups rather than five
that we didn’t test these rifles with every possible kind of ammunition
We used three to four bullet weights and styles for each review
One of them may have produced consistent 0.75-1-inch groups
in which case that rifle would indeed be “sub-MOA.”
It’s also true that inexpensive sub-MOA rifles aren’t a total myth
as some of you might have already gone down to the comments to elucidate
I have a Howa 1500 that can shoot consistent less-than-one-inch groups at 100 yards with pretty much every kind of match ammo you can buy
Many have had a similar experience with a factory rifle
but it’s less common than gun forums would have you believe
a fella who brags about how his budget rifle can shoot teeny
tiny groups really just means it shoots those groups occasionally
That’s still impressive for an inexpensive rifle
but that lack of context generates unreasonably high expectations for the rest of us
Plus, as I’ve argued previously
group size isn’t even the best metric for determining how well a hunting rig will perform in the field
Unless you’re having a pretty bad day
you’re not going to take more than two shots on an animal
you’ll only take a single shot on a cold bore
It’s that first cold-bore shot that really matters to a hunter
and shooting five or six groups isn’t a great real world test
We still conduct group-based accuracy testing on our review rifles because that’s how hunters are used to comparing accuracy across different firearms
Testing for group size also provides some sense of how well a rifle will make that first cold-bore shot
But whenever you’re doing accuracy testing to find a round your rifle likes
don’t forget to send a few rounds downrange on a cold bore
Don’t get bent out of shape if your rifle isn’t sub-MOA
Fretting about a rifle’s accuracy can sour a trip to the range and make you less confident in the field
even expensive rifles can struggle to hit that magic one-inch mark
As the last year of rifle reviews demonstrates
you shouldn’t be disappointed if your new hunting rifle shoots 1-1.5-inch groups
That’s plenty accurate for most hunts
and good enough that a miss is more about you than your shooting iron

– After a great regular season topped off by an incredible NCAA qualifying score last weekend inside the UK Rifle Range
the University of Kentucky rifle team has qualified for its 31st NCAA Rifle Championships and will compete in and host the 2025 NCAA Rifle National Championships on march 14-15 inside Historic Memorial Coliseum
Kentucky is one of the most decorated programs in NCAA rifle history
2021 and 2022 – six runner-up finishes and 23 top-five finishes
The 2025 championships will technically mark the second time UK has hosted the national event
The first was in 2020 when UK turned Memorial Coliseum into a first-class range before the NCAA canceled the championships after Thursday’s practice day due to the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic
1 in the nation and was having an undefeated season
“I am proud of the team for handling their business this season and making sure we were in a good position to qualify for the national championships,” UK head coach Harry Mullins said
“This will be an exciting two days in Historic Memorial Coliseum and I hope Big Blue Nation comes out and supports us
we are going to be working hard in training to get better and hopefully we can take another step forward this weekend at the GARC Championships.”
Last Saturday’s NCAA qualifying score was the last factor determining the field for the 2025 NCAA Rifle Championships
Each team’s three score aggregate average – the score based on each team’s highest three regular season scores fired at three different locations – was already recorded
last weekend’s qualifier score was then added to that average and the teams with the eight highest combined scores qualified for the NCAA Championships
UK’s three scores it counted as part of its NCAA qualifying score was its 4748 in Colorado
an impressive 4742 fired to start the 2025 schedule in Lexington and its 4740 at Ole Miss in the fall of 2024
the Wildcats total qualifying score is 9483.33
placing the Wildcats third overall entering the championships
Georgia Southern and Air Force complete the field
Several other individuals were selected as well from teams that did not make the team championships
