The “I Think You Should Leave” star cements his status as a modern comedy genius with writer/director Andrew DeYoung
even existing fans of Robinson’s work aren’t prepared for what he’s done with the showstopper of a film
What begins with the duo bonding over a short period comes to an abrupt end when Austin says he doesn’t actually want to be friends with Craig after a weird night of drinking
singing Ghost Town DJ’s one-hit wonder “My Boo” and boxing in the garage with the boys
He’ll desperately try to recreate what he had with Austin and may just destroy both their lives in the process
While some of this has been described as an extended version of an “I Think You Should Leave” sketch
this does the film a disservice as what DeYoung and Robinson have created together is something all its own
Where that show was about more quick editing and often something closer to parody
“Friendship” takes its comedy very seriously with each bit breaking apart any expectations you may have for them
Spelling out any of these jokes would only take away from how witheringly funny they are
but everything from the off-kilter character interactions to a side-splitting punchline involving a certain fast food chain absolutely kills
he wanted it to be shot like “The Master.” While “Friendship” isn’t quite on that level
but embraces the humorous juxtapositions that come from Robinson’s unrelenting absurdity and the sinister dread of some of the visuals
with Rudd and Mara each proving excellent in how they play off of the strangeness
being trapped with Craig is like being stuck in a horror film
Whether you consider it a satire of the standard type of comedy about dopey dudes who are actually potentially destructive to themselves and those around them or a biting commentary about a distinctly modern crisis in masculinity
one thing is certain: “Friendship” is the funniest film of the year by a wide margin
Not only does it prove once again that Robinson is one of the most talented comedic voices of his generation
but it shows DeYoung is a filmmaker worth seeing with whatever he does next as well
You won’t want to become friends with Craig after this
but may neither of the maniacs bringing him to life ever change
Here’s hoping their collaboration is the beginning of a beautiful friendship
“Friendship” hits theaters on Friday
Exclusive: BBC presenter warns ‘shared space for national debate’ at risk from platforms that fail to challenge leaders
Fawning and partisan podcasts that give politicians hours of unchallenged airtime pose a danger to democracy, Nick Robinson has said
as he warned that Britain must guard against going down the same polarised route as US media
The BBC presenter said a “nostalgia brigade” pining after confrontational television interviews, in which Brian Walden grilled Margaret Thatcher and Jeremy Paxman took on Michael Howard
had lost sight of the real danger in how politicians now used the media
He pointed to partisan or obsequious media platforms that risked damaging “a shared space for a national debate”
chummy interviews on favoured networks or favoured platforms – the people who want to avoid scrutiny altogether and just broadcast a speech or an interview on YouTube or their social media channel,” he said
“Britain could easily go down the route of the United States in which people are shoved into partisan silos
It’s a danger not because it’s a threat to the BBC; it’s about democracy
Is there a shared space for a national debate
People might shout at the radio and television
asking: ‘Why didn’t you ask that?’ or: ‘You should have been harder,’ or: ‘Why are you so rude to my guy?’ But you see people who want control over your lives quizzed and questioned
who presents BBC Radio 4’s Today programme after years as its political editor
said long-form political interviews were not dead
he said they needed to adapt to a new media landscape in which politicians could simply ignore hard outings and choose from an array of media platforms
that’s the giveaway: somebody I had barely heard of – and I was a proper political journalist
The reason Jeremy had to rough up a junior Treasury minister is because other people wouldn’t come on
Robinson said his Political Thinking podcast
more conversational exchanges with politicians
The podcast is to be broadcast regularly on BBC Two at Friday lunchtimes
The move reflects a wider trend in which podcasts morph into television
with popular shows viewed via streaming services
Podcasts have become increasingly influential in US politics. Donald Trump’s three-hour appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast before the US presidential election has now amassed 58m views on YouTube
Robinson said he had asked himself whether his more conversational format risked giving politicians a way to avoid the BBC’s flagship interview – the Today programme’s 8.10am slot
he said there was no evidence so far that they were dodging it
the danger that we’ve all got to be alert to is that
you just choose your favoured partisan [outlet],” he said
Either you’ve got partisan people who literally just are your cheerleaders
or you’ve got creeps – they’re not necessarily your supporters
but they just want to be in with whoever’s in power
“I get abuse on Twitter: ‘You’re no – insert name of great interviewer.’ It’s not going to be the same again
The world has changed … What the BBC is trying to do
is to say we can learn from the fact that we’re in a competitive market in which politicians don’t have to appear – that they have stories to tell
Robinson also denied there had been a falling out with his fellow Today presenter Emma Barnett
after reports that the pair had barely appeared alongside each other this year
and we will all present with each other from now on,” he said

Atlanta Falcons rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr
pinpoints a CLUTCH fourth-down touchdown fastball to Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts with elite accuracy
After a hot start to his NFL career, Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts has cooled off the past three seasons
struggling to consistently contribute in the offense
But when asked this week by the Waterboyz Show podcast crew about Pitts' play
Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson said that he believes the time is right for the tight end to see significant growth in 2025
"I'm expecting Kyle to take a big jump," Robinson said
Year 2 of understanding what we're trying to do offensively
so expecting a lot of good things from Kyle
He knows what he needs to work on with the details
those are things we talk about with him and (tight ends coach Kevin) Koger talks about with him all the time is those finer details and that next level that he can take as a player
can't wait to get on the field with him and that's going to be a lot of fun to see his growth."
Taken at No. 4 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft
the highest a tight end has ever been drafted in NFL history
Pitts has had pressure to produce from the moment he joined the Falcons
He initially delivered in a big way, putting together a historic rookie season that featured 68 receptions for 1,026 yards and a touchdown, averaging 15.1 yards per catch and earning a Pro Bowl selection. He became just the second rookie tight end in NFL history to tally a 1,000-yard season
But Pitts has not been able to get close to that performance again, recording 1,625 yards in total in the past three seasons and never finishing with more than 667 yards. It certainly didn't help that his 2022 season was hampered by and then cut short by injury, notably a season-ending torn MCL
and that Atlanta has switched things up at offensive coordinator and multiple times at quarterback since that first year
Despite Pitts struggling to regain his rookie form, the Falcons still picked up his fifth-year option last offseason
trusting that their prized young weapon could regain his footing with consistency around him
And with Atlanta settling into the second year of Robinson's offensive scheme and hoping to start 2025 with more clarity at QB after Michael Penix Jr.'s late-season ascension
the OC believes that time is now for Pitts
Adding on motivation for the tight end is his status entering a contract year as he looks to secure that all-important second deal by showing out in 2025. Head coach Raheem Morris has already said this offseason that he wants to see the “best version” of Pitts this year
and that the team was working to figure out what was needed to get that out of him
With other young contributors Bijan Robinson and Drake London coming off of career years in 2024
adding a resurgent Pitts to the offensive equation could be just what the Falcons need to contend in the NFC South once again

Cornerback was viewed as one of Green Bay’s top long-term needs entering the draft, but the Packers waited until round seven to address the position for the third straight draft
taking Tulane’s Micah Robinson with their penultimate pick
The 23-year-old spent four years at Furman before transferring to Tulane for his final college season
Robinson was not even ranked on the consensus big board
he is not a traditional Packers cornerback
Robinson is the lightest cornerback Brian Gutekunst has drafted in his tenure
one pound lighter than Shemar Jean-Charles
whom he admitted after the draft was a significant outlier for them based on how they usually operate
Robinson scored a 6.77 Relative Athletic Score (RAS) out of a possible 10
He ran a blazing 4.38 40-yard dash at his pro day
He also earned a "good" explosion grade via the vert and broad jumps but had a "poor" grade for size and agility
including a short shuttle time which ranked in just the eighth percentile
Gutekunst spoke about why he made an exception for Robinson
telling the media: “He doesn’t have elite size but his speed and his ability as an athlete to stay with guys
the hips and the speed kind of overrode that and made us want to take a shot on him."
The jump in competition from Furman to Tulane was a great decision by Robinson, who enjoyed his best college season with the Green Wave in 2024
He had an 80.7 PFF coverage grade and a 90 run defense grade
Robinson displayed excellent ball skills in college
with seven interceptions in his final three seasons
Gutekunst said: “He took a step up from Furman to Tulane and played really
As he gets more reps against better competition I think he’s going to continue to improve."
It is easy to see the physical tools which attracted the Packers to Robinson on his tape
The 4.38 speed is real and allows him to easily run with receivers deep downfield
Robinson’s athleticism gets him out of compromised positions
makes up for him taking a false step or turning the wrong way and also allows him to take more risks; he can guess on a route and be ready to jump it
he can still turn and get back in position in time
He shows the ability to trust his speed and not open up too early anticipating a receiver running deep
Robinson has the benefit of letting the route play out for an extra tick before having to make his decision
Robinson has enough twitch to stop and start with receivers and can also fire downhill towards the ball on routes broken off underneath
He looks smooth and comfortable in his backpedal and turns or flips his hips easily enough when required
Robinson uses physicality to his advantage in coverage
putting his hands on receivers and not letting them get going
or squeezing them towards the sideline on go routes
Robinson has “great feet," and is able to mirror receivers off the line
as well as jam them effectively with a firm punch
plastering in tight areas like the red zone
often giving opponents a shove at the end of plays
He plays with focus and is clearly mentally engaged on every play
which helps him stay with corners late in the play on scramble drills or trail routes effectively even when he has to fight through traffic to get them picked up
ready to come down in run support and refusing to accept being blocked by receivers
He is a willing tackler but also comes to balance
especially in the open field when he knows missing the tackle could be catastrophic
Robinson has 226 box safety snaps on his college resume
showing how he was trusted in run defense and also some potential versatility at the next level
There are plenty of tools to work with in coverage
but Robinson is not consistent enough in using them at the moment
He needs to have more trust in his athleticism
as at times he looks jumpy or on edge when in coverage
He is too reactive to the eye candy receivers present
biting on head fakes or generally buying whatever they sell
Receivers in the NFL are smarter than the ones he faced
and it will be all too easy for them to manipulate him and get him to do whatever they want
Robinson turns the wrong way too often and ends up having to do a full 360 spin to get back in phase
His speed and athleticism have allowed him to make up for this so far
but whether that will be the case as a professional is a different question
Double moves can make him bite very hard and ultimately get beat deep
and he can also open up his hips too early
which he does not need to do with his speed
leaving him vulnerable to routes being broken off underneath
Robinson plays a bit too far off at times and allows easy short completions
While he is a reliable presence in the run game
and he lacks some stopping power in his tackling
The transfer to Tulane helped Robinson get exposure against better competition
but it is still not an especially high level
He also has essentially no slot experience
which is not ideal for an undersized corner
Robinson has consistently played well against every level of competition he has faced
still improved in 2024 while making a step up in class
He may hit a ceiling quickly at the NFL level
but equally is a worthwhile dart throw in round seven and could continue to increase his level of performance as he gets acclimated to the ultimate step up

Notre Dame’s search for additional receivers in the Class of 2026 is heavily focused on the state of Texas right now and this past Thursday, Irish receivers coach Mike Brown made the trip down to check in on 2026 Texas receiver Brayden Robinson
just talking about life,” Robinson said of himself and Brown
but just making sure everything is good personally.”
Robinson has been a high priority for the Irish for months and even with two commits in the fold at the position for the Irish now with Dylan Faison and Bubba Frazier
Notre Dame continues to make it known how valued Robinson is
“It feels great,” said Robinson
“It feels like I'm still a priority for them
The message from the Irish to the 5-foot-8
165-pound speedster has been a consistent one
“That they need speed and they feel like with my versatility
I can bring a lot to the table,” Robinson said of what he’s heard from Brown.
“He sees me as a true receiver despite me being a shorter guy and stuff like that.”
Robinson said he “most definitely” sees what Notre Dame is talking about regarding his on-field fit.
“I've seen how they used Tre Tucker when they were in Cincinnati,” he said
referring to the current Las Vegas Raiders receiver who was coached by Brown and Irish offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock in college
“That's somebody with a similar playing style as me in the same offense with Coach Denbrock
so I don't see why I couldn't.”
who has made two trips to South Bend this year
was at Miami for a recent unofficial visit.
“Obviously you're in a great city
but the people definitely made it more memorable
It definitely exceeded my expectations going into the visit.”
The Hurricanes definitely opened his eyes and joined the Irish at the top of his board.
“I feel like Miami and Notre Dame are 1A and 1B right now,” he said
Robinson will announce his college decision on his mother’s birthday
he’ll take official visits to Notre Dame
He’s looking to get a feel for more than football on his next trip to South Bend
“There's really nothing to see from the football aspect
I want to make sure I get the right feel for everything
That's what it's going to come down to; just seeing how I vibe around the coaching staff and the players.”

Four years after the Falcons took him with the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft
Kyle Pitts has not become the player Atlanta was hoping for

Before technology opened doors for Alana Ward Robinson
she will return to the place where her path first took shape—Grambling State University—to receive an honorary doctorate during the Spring 2025 Commencement
One of the few African American women in America to have served as a Chief Information Officer for multiple Fortune 500 companies
Robinson’s story is not just one of professional excellence—it’s a testament to purpose
in a household where education wasn’t just encouraged—it was expected
taught junior and senior English literature
they were prominent educators and leaders in their community
“They taught me that education was both a privilege and a calling—a tool not only for personal growth
“They instilled in me values that have remained my compass to this day: faith in God
and an unshakable belief in the power of being a life-long learner.”
I gravitated toward math and science classes because they offered a sense of order and discovery,” she recalls
Her curiosity found direction thanks to a high school math teacher who recognized her potential
“I had a high school math teacher who encouraged me to pursue more advanced studies and who saw in me a future that I hadn’t yet imagined
That teacher went on to nominate her for an Early Admissions program at the University of Southwest Louisiana during the summer of her junior year
“That was my 1st Computer programming course
I was instantly hooked—and that was the moment I realized technology could be my future!”
Robinson enrolled at Grambling State University the following year
as the institution introduced a dual degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science
“It wasn’t lost on me that I didn’t see many people who looked like me in those workspaces,” she says
Grambling became a place of personal transformation as well as academic growth
Robinson fondly recalls late nights in Adams Hall dorm
and the friendships that turned into lifelong family-by-choice relationships
She describes being initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority
and being elected Delta Iota Chapter President as a defining moment that taught her the power of sisterhood
Perhaps most meaningful of all was meeting her husband
The two graduated together in 1972 and married that same year
has navigated life’s challenges and opportunities with a steadfast commitment to grow and serve
Robinson also credits several influential faculty members with helping shape her academic direction and professional future
“I had professors who saw me—who pushed me to go beyond what was expected
Their belief in my potential was transformative,” she shares
“I continue to have profound gratitude to Dr
who expected me to better than the day before
They wholeheartedly made my exposure to IBM happen.”
“I also had classmates who were fiercely intelligent
and driven—we inspired each other to dream big
The sense of community and collective pride remains significant and continues to exist.”
Robinson rose through executive ranks at IBM
and RR Donnelley—frequently the only Black woman in the room
and often the one leading the conversation
She drove multimillion-dollar operational efficiencies
and built leadership teams that reflected her core values: excellence
“There are many proud moments over the course of my corporate and entrepreneurial career,” she says
“That’s the kind of legacy I’m proud of—one built not only on transformation and innovation
which leads national work in CIO consulting
and technology strategy across sectors from healthcare to higher education
“I am exceptionally proud of the company we have built
and the capacity we have created to drive focused impact.”
or redirect you—but your authenticity is your superpower
Returning to Grambling State this spring to receive its highest honor is
a moment that is both professional and deeply personal
“It’s a full circle blessing that I will treasure forever,” she says
“To be honored by Grambling—my alma mater—is deeply emotional
And to receive the first honorary doctorate bestowed by President Lemelle
a man I’ve watched grow into an impactful and visionary leader
Robinson now stands before a new generation preparing to take their next step
Her closing words to the graduating class speak to what she has always believed—about herself
and about those who follow her path:“You are ready
The degree you’ve earned is not just a credential—it’s a passport to possibility
and never forget the village that shaped you

DENVER – If Flyin’ Ryan Lee has been known as the team’s “Quarterback” for some time now
regularly involved in a majority of the team’s scoring conversions
then the man they call “C-ROB” in Connor Robinson has been associated with stinging corner from afar courtesy of his nasty cannon of a step-down launcher
when Colorado’s regular season slate concluded and things began to shift into offseason mode
96 had more assists than goals for the third-straight season
Which isn’t a knock on his goal-scoring totals by any means
as he technically outperformed his 18-goal effort and 55-point (18g
37a) performance from a down 2023-24 session
Concluding his 2024-25 campaign with 67 points (23g
he ranked third on the team in overall scoring
trailing a pair of shifty talents in Lee (95 points) and fellow lefty Will Malcom (81 points)
And if you know anything about that pair of producers
they tend to like to have the ball in their stick more time than not
Robinson trailed only Lee’s 59 helpers when it came to dishing out some help
now a new career-best feat for the New Westminster
Now above 35 assists in three-straight seasons
he’s been viewed (and respected) by opposing defenders as both a finisher and creative passer as he continues to improve his game in Colorado
Sharing turf time with the likes of Malcom and Eli McLaughlin for a majority of the season
who began the season with a rapid goal-scoring pace
alongside company including Zed Williams and Ryan Lee and it truly makes Robinson’s continued production shine that much more
Originally acquired by the Mammoth from the Saskatchewan Rush nearly five years ago now
he’s effectively put his slow start in Saskatoon in the rearview
stringing together four consecutive 55-plus-point campaigns
Mammoth fans can stay tuned to coloradomammoth.com and Colorado Mammoth social media throughout the offseason for the organization’s most recent news

For many people the most affordable route to home ownership is to buy a manufactured home
and planned communities of these dwellings appeal to retirees
If the property sells it can throw homeowners into a tailspin
living in a 55-plus manufactured home community is a life choice that provides both affordable housing and a supportive
tight-knit environment,” wrote Joanne DeMichele in an op ed
After the owner sold the property to out-of-state investors
and services declined.” With repeated rent increases
“wondering what will run out first – their life savings or their life” while others were forced out
more than 100 people living in such a community “suffered for six months without natural gas before the California land investor made the necessary repairs
They are now told to expect another significant rent increase.”
Mobile homes are the second most prevalent housing in New Mexico after single family homes in all but three counties
according to the Mortgage Finance Authority
We have 380 mobile home communities that make up 17% of the state’s housing inventory (the national average is 5.5%)
and 36,000 people live in manufactured housing
Now we’re seeing the same trend in land ownership turnover that has plagued other kinds of rental properties
residents may have to walk away from their homes because moving them is prohibitive
A manufactured home or mobile home is not a trailer; they can’t just be moved from place to place
“I have a senior park in my district with 700 residents
Then a private equity group bought the property
And property owners are scared that after the investors milk the property for a while they’ll sell it and not for use as a mobile home park
Homeowners could lose their entire investment.”
who has visited the homes to meet with constituents
notes that they’re nice places to live as well as being affordable
which would have required owners of mobile home parks to notify residents and the Mortgage Finance Authority if they planned to sell the park and give residents a chance to buy the property if they can match price and terms of the third-party offer
It passed the House 37-26 and died without being heard by the Senate Judiciary Committee
Two other housing bills died without being heard by Senate Judiciary: HB 253 would have expunged old eviction records
and HB 339 would have forbidden discrimination based on income source such as vouchers
Scores of housing bills also fell along the way
It was disheartening to housing advocates because the session opened with great promise for housing
Two bipartisan bills I liked took aim at housing supply
HB 571 would have incentivized municipalities to reform their zoning codes to encourage construction of affordable housing
the Governor’s Office on Housing supported it
would have made it easier to build multifamily housing in commercial districts and allowed casitas in residential districts
It passed the House but died in a Senate committee
The only housing bill to become law was SB 267
which requires landlords to disclose all fees up front and limits junk fees
Matthews plans to return next year with an improved mobile home park bill
but our cumbersome legislative system all but guarantees that a solution will take years

After a bright start followed by three disappointing seasons
Pitts now rolls into another training camp where yet again there are more questions than answers
Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson feels he's got some form of a solution
but only if Pitts can find his own sweet spot and master year two within the offensive system
The Falcons Podcast: Spotify | Apple Pods | iHeart
"I'm expecting Kyle to take a big jump," Robinson told reporters last week
Year 2 of understanding what we're trying to do offensively
“He knows what he needs to work on with the details
those are the things we talk about with him and (tight ends coach Kevin) Koger talks about with him all the time is those finer details and that next level that he can take as a player
can't wait to get out on the field with him and that's going to be a lot of fun to see his growth."
Pitts impressive 1,000 yard rookie season seems a distant speck in the rear view mirror these days
Yet to find Robinson still stressing the importance of Pitts embracing making his own improvements
especially when it comes to fundamentals and techniques
makes it all sound like it's more than a little past due
any player playing on his fifth-year option shouldn't need to be reminded that there needs to be far better levels of consistency to his play
The 24-year-old is in a contract year and has more to play for than ever
Reason being, after San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle once again reset the tight end market, it would probably mean a big payday looms for Pitts if he rediscovers his rookie form in 2025. OverTheCap projects the franchise tag for tight ends to jump to just over $16 million in 2026
The Falcons made history when they made Pitts the highest drafted tight end of all time with the No. 4 overall pick in 2021
There’s still time to see a positive return on general manager Terry Fontenot’s first draft pick
and Falcons fans are hoping the fifth year is the charm

The city of Syracuse is mourning the loss of former Common Council President Van Robinson.
Garland Funeral Home confirmed Robinson's death
saying he passed away after a long illness.
Robinson served the Syracuse Common Council for nearly two decades.
Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh released a statement following the news of his death saying Robinson played a critical factor in the decision to take down the Interstate 81 viaduct:
“A soft voice and patient way belied Van Robinson’s immense strength and steely determination," Walsh said in a statement
"He demonstrated those traits in his service to our nation in the U.S
and his tenure as a Common Councilor and Council President
His determined vision was a critical factor in the decision to take down the Interstate 81 viaduct
when his presence was needed at pivotal occasions for Syracuse
Syracuse is a better city because of Van’s service and sacrifice
the Robinson family and all those who loved Van.“
who invited Morrison to be his guest at last year's State of the Union address
“Van Robinson represented the very best of Central New York," Schumer said in part
He was a true trailblazer and history maker
a leader who dedicated his life to building a more equitable and just Syracuse for all
I would visit Van at the NY State Fair’s Pan-African Village that he helped create
and I would seek his advice; his teachings guided me when I was a young senator and continued to do so when I became leader of the Senate."
“My heartfelt condolences to Linda Brown Robinson and all the members of Van’s family," Onondaga County Controller Marty Masterpole said in a statement
I had the honor to work alongside him on the Syracuse Common Council and he has been a role model to every elected official in Syracuse. Van was a true gentleman
I always enjoyed his company and will miss him dearly."
"Van Robinson was a giant in Syracuse—more than a trailblazer
and a fierce advocate for justice," Legislator Charles E
"I’ll never forget him showing up at my door in a snowstorm
He believed in me before I believed in myself
His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched
My heart is with Linda Brown-Robinson and their family
Syracuse has lost one of its finest."

a former member of the Villanova University Men’s Basketball team
has been selected as the student speaker at Villanova’s 2025 Commencement ceremony on Friday
currently a member of the New Orleans Pelicans in the National Basketball Association (NBA)
completed his degree in General Studies online through the College of Professional Studies (CPS)
This marks the first time that a CPS student will deliver the student address at Villanova’s Commencement ceremony
Robinson-Earl joins Admiral Samuel Paparo ’87 CLAS
who will address the Class of 2025 as the University’s Commencement speaker and receive the degree of Doctor of Military Science
“I absolutely love the Villanova community and everything they've done for me,” Robinson-Earl said
“And I'm glad that I can be in this position to be in front of all of them and be able to give a speech that means a lot to me.”
“It is an exciting moment for the College of Professional Studies to have one of our students selected to speak at Commencement
especially a student like Jeremiah Robinson-Earl
who embodies the dedication and thoughtfulness of our CPS students,” said Christine Kelleher Palus
Dean of the College of Professional Studies
despite the demanding schedule of a professional athlete
but to also write and deliver a speech worthy of being chosen to be shared with the Class of 2025 shows a true love for his education and for the Villanova community.”
Robinson-Earl initially came to Villanova in the fall of 2019 as a first-year student
he made his mark on the Men’s Basketball program
Robinson-Earl was the 2019-2020 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and the 2020-2021 BIG EAST Player of the Year
he chose to enter the NBA Draft and was selected as the 32nd pick
he’s spent time with the Oklahoma City Thunder and New Orleans Pelicans
continuing his studies with CPS throughout his career
“We have a crazy traveling schedule and we're doing a lot: playing games
(there’s) a choice of whatever you want to do in your spare time
I was able to maximize the opportunity I had
Part of Robinson-Earl’s comfort in taking classes online came from experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic
He was a freshman in the spring of 2020 when his basketball season was abruptly canceled and student-athletes had to adjust to a new
He credits the Villanova community atmosphere for making that transition smooth
we were able to rearrange our plans and be able to accommodate for those circumstances
especially with something as drastic as COVID,” he said
“Nobody had ever been through anything like that.”
as an inspiration throughout his life and a major reason he continued his education
“In a single parent household with me as her only child
she's been there for the whole ride,” Robinson-Earl said
“She has been able to help me out along this journey
As a representative of the College of Professional Studies
Robinson-Earl will showcase the non-traditional pathways toward a degree
he feels a shared experience with anyone pursuing an education while managing different commitments in their lives
“I think everybody's journey is different,” he said
“As long as you realize the importance of (a degree)
when the timing matches up with the opportunity
you can maximize the full potential of that.”
Robinson-Earl’s time in the public eye would seem to prepare him for the spotlight
with experience delivering a commencement address at his high school
Yet he’s aware that his speech at Villanova's Commencement Weekend is a much taller task
something I do on any normal single day is playing basketball in front of a bunch of fans
and on TV there's a lot of people watching
but this is something completely different,” Robinson-Earl added
“I want to be able to step outside of my comfort zone and calm the nerves
knowing that this message that I've built is from the heart
instead of me trying to just read the speech I’ve written.”
“I want to make an impact on others graduating
who have been in the same circumstances that I went through as well.”
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl's speech, along with the entire Villanova University Commencement ceremony, will be available to be livestreamed on Friday
John Robinson `25 had no intentions of applying to Grinnell College when he was in the midst of his college search
was already attending Grinnell and Robinson preferred to do his own thing
“She kept pushing that I apply,” Robinson said
and I had already written all my applications and I could just submit it.”
So Robinson joined the ranks of other sibling duos at Grinnell — this duo
Robinson picked the sport up at eight years old
what drew Robinson to Grinnell was the opportunity to participate in its 3-2 engineering program
where students can earn both a Bachelor of Arts degree from Grinnell and an engineering degree from a university affiliated with Grinnell
Robinson was also interested in Grinnell’s open curriculum
“That’s really what I wanted out of the college experience,” he said
“Just to experience a bunch of different things and try out a lot.”
“It turned out to be kind of everything that I wanted here,” he added
Robinson said he was always more of a STEM person
always encouraged him to keep taking STEM classes for job opportunities
But when Robinson came to Grinnell and enrolled in his tutorial with Karla Erickson
professor and department chair of sociology
titled I/Robot: The Social Life of Machines (and Humans)
but he said it actually turned out to be rather sociology-centered
Robinson ended up taking Introduction to Sociology with Erickson after a little pushing
After taking Erickson’s introduction class
Robinson decided he would declare a sociology major along with his physics major
“That kind of really filled in the rest of my academic needs,” Robinson said of his sociology major
and sociology just gave me a really big canvas for thoughts that I had or any social issue — race
Robinson considered dropping the physics major
Enrolled in zero physics courses for spring 2023
Robinson said his semester that he did take off from the physics major was wonderful
he missed the problem sets and the rigor in STEM courses
convinced him to take at least one more physics course with her — Mechanics
“I took this class with her and she was like
“So I guess it was both of my advisors being like
After enrolling and completing Rodriguez’s course
Robinson was on board for completing the physics major again
He named Mechanics as one of his more influential classes he has taken here at Grinnell
Robinson has played on the men’s golf team for all four years
been involved with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
worked at the campus bookstore and led Men of Color Empowered and Engaged
Robinson also spends much of his time performing
He has taken percussion lessons with the same instructor
He also taught himself how to play guitar one summer
Robinson even started a rock band with fellow golf team player Kevin Carpenter `25 called The Back Nine
a reference to the final nine holes in an 18-hole golf course
and I’ve done a lot of music performances here,” Robinson said
“But I don’t think I knew exactly what a quarter note and a half note was fully
He said he was often writing in the letters of the music notes on his sheet music
but now he can read sheet music with more ease than when he first started
Robinson still plans to pursue mechanical engineering
though he did have to drop his plans to complete the 3-2 engineering program due to his semester off from physics courses
Robinson will attend graduate school for mechanical engineering
very likely at the University of Minnesota

Robinson was expected to continue impressing through the Gold Coast Pro competition
things didn't go as planned for the superstar
During his heat against fellow Australian surfers Morgan Cibilic and Julian Wilson, both of whom posted substantial numbers, Robinson quickly fell behind. Wilson landed a high score of 15.47
Robinson's score was anything but spectacular—he landed a 7.06
neither of which came close to his opponents' numbers
This loss comes just days after Robinson rose to No. 3 in the WSL Championship Tour rankings
After his unfortunate results at Gold Coast Pro
This wasn't the ideal outcome for Robinson
but not every competition is meant to have a positive result
"Heat 1 was all about the two former CT surfers making a case for their returns," the WSL wrote on social media
"Julian and Morgan escaped elimination and looked to be in fine form
taking out Jack and proving their surfing is still absolutely world class."
A post shared by World Surf League (@wsl)
This is the first time he has faced such circumstances since being full-time on tour
While this may be a blow to his confidence
it will provide him with time to refocus and start rebuilding
Despite the tough elimination
this is the nature of competition in the adventure sports world—expect the unexpected

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear daughter
following a courageous four-year battle with cancer
where she graduated with the class of 2005
She excelled in drama and was cast in various roles in numerous plays from the time she was a preschooler with the Cedar Youth Theater
As a middleschooler she landed the role of “Baby Louise” in the Southern Utah University production of “Gypsy,” and in high school she performed in “Bye
Birdie,” “Noises Off,” “The Music Man,” “Steel Magnolias" and “Kiss Me

Her love for music blossomed into a love of travel and languages when she first traveled with the Utah Ambassadors of Music on a concert tour through six European countries
and after taking an immersive French language course in Berkeley
she returned to Paris to study French and photography
where her lifelong learning of the Spanish language began and continued until just days before her death
Numerous other journeys took her to Russia
Katie’s rich experiences while growing up in Cedar City prepared her to move east to attend the University of Mary Washington in Virginia
where she double majored in theater and geography and performed in many more stage productions
she took a seasonal job as a river guide in Western North Carolina before eventually moving to Boston
The couple continued to work for Trader Joe’s in Boston and later in Portland

They acquired and have spent months fixing up a 50-year-old trawler/motor yacht
Anyone who crossed paths with Katie throughout her life will remember her as a beacon of enthusiasm and confidence
Even during her four-year-long course of cancer treatments
she maintained a positive and cheerful attitude
Her outlook gave us all such comfort and hope

Countdown star Rachel Riley has hit out at former host Anne Robinson after she criticised her on-set behaviour
Former Weakest Link host Robinson, 80, presented the Channel 4 game show for just one year
there were several reports that she was feuding with Riley
It was claimed that Riley, 39, considered “walking away” from the show due to rising tensions with Robinson, which allegedly created an “awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere” on set
While the pair were initially complimentary of each other, Riley soon admitted she hadn’t “done much bonding” with Robinson
Robinson called out Riley for “distracting” her by talking in the background while she was interviewing the show’s contestants
In a recent interview with The Telegraph
but said: “Rachel was a bit talkative when I was interviewing the contestants but once we shut her up it was fine.”
Riley has now addressed Robinson’s comments
saying at the Women’s Football Awards last week: “If Anne needs to mention me for publicity then good luck to her.”
The Sun reports Riley as saying: “I have the same opinion of her as most people do. I don’t pay any attention to what she says.”

Robinson became notorious for her scathing remarks directed at contestants when she presented BBC series The Weakest Link from 2000 to 2012.
Her signature presenting style was controversial, with some fans finding her jibes hilarious and others believing the “Queen of Mean” went too far with her comments.
In January, Robinson explained that she decided to take a more brutal approach after meeting “real quizzers” and learning they were “ruthlessly competitive” and ready to criticise one another.
Reflecting on her stint on the show in an interview with The Oldie last year, Robinson said that she would “never be able” to behave in the same way if she was presenting the show now.
“You’d never be able to say all that now,” she claimed. “Half of it would be stamped out. I always thought the contestants would feel short-changed if I were nice.”
