A threat that prompted a code red lockdown Thursday at Rolesville High School was unfounded
but it forced students to spend two hours waiting for the "all clear."
The school went under lockdown after 7:30 a.m
after police received a report of a person holding what appeared to be a gun near the school's wood line on East Young Street
Rolesville police say they didn’t find anyone
The lockdown was lifted just before 10 a.m
Students were already on campus when the lockdown was initiated
The school said all students were safe and asked parents not to come to campus and to monitor email for updates
there was a line of cars parked along the road leading to the school
and the line to pick up students was still long around noon
and students sent parents photos of kids sitting together on the floor
Rolesville student Mariah Vincent said the school went into code red at the beginning of first period
and no one is allowed to enter or exit the building
Lee can relate to the fear of a school threat
said a substitute teacher was leading his class
so we used a belt to close the panic door," Phung said
"That just shows how far things have gotten in today's time
The fact that students have to worry about their own safety."
WRAL News talked to other parents who waited outside the school despite the lockdown
Rolesville High was previously placed on code red lockdowns in February 2023, October 2022 and October 2021.

Aw said returning to the Final Four is “a testimony to all the hard work we've been doing
This wouldn't have been possible if the girls weren't buying in to what we are selling.”
