I never played the first so I'm not sure what it's about but kinda looks fun
Is the game base building and equipment upgrading or just equipment upgrading
First time I've ever seen a promo using a guy jacking off on the can
Why is fat Jesus wearing scuba gear if he can walk on water
and split-screen co-op to boot that's a great sequel to an underrated sci-fi platformer
the crude humour and corporate satire can be grating and the whole game feels like a collection of shallow busywork – though the design of the final few hours is exemplary
complex alien landscapes to explore at your leisure
The new third-person viewpoint suits the gameplay really well
Tries to be funny but is way more miss than hit
Frequent combat is a nuisance when you're busy
then Revenge of the Savage Planet is the game for you
you might struggle to enjoy this adventure
There's no getting away from this game's penchant for slime and childish humor
and since the game itself is an otherwise solid
expansive (if predictable) action adventure
it really does come down to these questions as to whether it's going to be for you
It’s unusual for a sequel to change perspective from the original
but the big news here is that Revenge of the Savage Planet is played in third-person
leaving some fans of the original’s first-person perspective pleading for a rethink in trailer comments
While the developers have heard the feedback and are looking into providing this as an option in a future patch
it's difficult to see how it would work in practice
you need to see your feet and where they’re landing
Developer: In-housePublisher: Raccoon Logic StudiosPlatform(s): PC
The change has given your silent protagonist a lot more personality
Click L3 to sprint and you run like some kind of space-faring Captain Jack Sparrow
slipping around on goo-coated surfaces like Bambi on ice
There are plenty of fun animations after respawning and planet-hopping
and falling too far results in some wince-inducing spine bends
It's been implemented very well and world traversal becomes increasingly enjoyable as the stabilizers come off after the first few hours and you're let loose to explore these impressively large
You’ve been cryogenically frozen in order to send you a few hundred lightyears from home
you learn that the plan has changed and you’ve been fired from the mega corporation funding your journey
You can still use all the tech that was sent with you
but it’s scattered across not only this planet but several others too
It’s down to you to retrieve all your gear
and learn about the bigger picture – as well as find out who the mysterious character is who contacts you out of the blue on the video screen in your home base
The platforming and shooting is coupled with documentation of the planets
with a Metroid Prime-style scanning module for your space suit allowing you to scan flora and fauna
learning about your surroundings with some quips and puns in the details for fun
while also revealing enemies’ weak spots
But rather than just attack these for massive damage
you’ll also need to capture creatures and send them back to the lab for testing
While the game implies some nasty vivisection
the critters are then put back together afterwards
but odd considering the game absolutely revels in icky
goopy death for pretty much everything you encounter
There are 'Alpha' versions of critters too
and capturing them can unlock new abilities
Dark Souls’ influence is still felt as you have to collect your dropped loot after you’ve died
the game always places it somewhere accessible rather than exactly where you died
so you don’t have to wade into lava to retrieve the thing you lost after dying in the hot red stuff
What’s also neat is the way every death leaves behind a little blue marker with a number on it
so you can see how many times you’ve kicked the gunk bucket
"Your smart-talking robot sidekick’s dialogue can be a bit much to handle at times."
The environmental sound effects are lovely
making you really feel like you’re in a jungle if you put on some decent headphones
which change depending on the surface you’re walking on
while the music is as polished as you’d expect from a modern production standpoint
the battle music really grates after a couple of hours
Thankfully it changes a little based on the planet you’re on
but when it’s triggered even by just one small bug attacking you
you’ll be hearing the same guitar line a lot
so be warned you might find yourself heading to the option menu to switch off the music
your smart-talking robot sidekick’s dialogue can be a bit much to handle at times
The menu lets you reduce the frequency of its speech
but if you do that you will miss some important story beats
At present there are two voices to choose from
though an incoming patch will add many more
the two voices appear to be manipulated versions of the same audio files
rather than entirely different voice actors
so the language and humor is unlikely to change much based on the incoming voice pack
and it's quite obnoxious in its commentary on what you're doing
In fact the start of the game pushes its wackiness and irreverence in your face far more than the second half… unless I just became desensitized to it
cartoony gore… it's not that it's written or performed badly; it just feels like noise detracting from what would otherwise be an enjoyable adventure
The production values of the in-game advertisement videos are impressive
but the satire simply isn’t as funny as it thinks it is
I have distinctly more fun as the game becomes more involved and incorporates strong environmental puzzles and traversal challenges into the good-looking game world(s)
The game is visually rich, especially in jungle scenes. At times it's a technical tour de force with massive draw distances that still display enemies, collectibles and even player-placed electricity-conducting goo even when they’re far, far away. Even on a now-aging Nvidia RTX 2070 graphics card
the game can run on ultra at 1080p with a smooth frame-rate
and only really having trouble rendering the wide-open plains and distant
Even then it’s still perfectly playable
though it’s not as smooth as the 2070 on default settings
even if your adventurous ambition lasts longer than the battery
These trees give off clouds of hallucinogenic spores
It's fun to walk in them the first few times as it doesn't harm you
but later you'll be fighting enemies while trying to avoid them
Some mushroom-like enemies also cause the same effect
A big bonus is the split-screen two-player co-op mode
The split screen runs impressively smoothly and games like this are always more fun with a second person
It also means parents can play with their children
helping them through the harder moments while still allowing them to enjoy the full experience
Revenge of the Savage Planet isn’t totally child-friendly
There are some middle finger swears in there
references to your mom sleeping with someone
and the game’s attitude towards the death of the various creatures is a little… disturbing
Feeding an entire family of big-eyed bugs to a tree doesn't sound so bad
but the game seems to revel in their deaths
It's mean-spirited and more sensitive children might get upset
There’s no way to complete some tasks without killing cute critters
often leaving their eyeballs rolling around in the mess
I found the creature capturing side-quest the most interesting and enjoyable element of the game
Most enemies have a weakness that can be exploited to get them in a dazed state
at which point you can use an energy lasso to reel them in
They're then zapped into a wormhole that opens up
Not only does this give you a nice zoo of attractively-animated critters that you can pet back at your home base
You can also unlock and buy new furniture for your base with in-game currency
and there are new outfits to find and wear too
The game comes alive the more skills you have
and locking them all away behind busywork is arguably to the game's detriment
but when you have the means to go anywhere and do anything
the element of exploration is so much more satisfying
The game engine is versatile enough to allow you to make a trail of conductive gloop and use it to power nodes from an electrical mushroom
and searching for the nodes is properly engrossing and rewarding
There are elements of Super Mario Sunshine’s FLUDD when you do this
just adding a neat little technical trick into the action
"Searching for the nodes is properly engrossing and rewarding."
As the credits roll and you listen to someone singing about the joys of getting paid for defecating during company time
you'll feel like you've been on a long and challenging journey
and while there’s plenty left to find and finish up after that
the challenge wanes as you can see where the remaining collectibles are and (eventually) grapple literally anywhere
so all that carefully-curated game design goes out the window – at least if you allow it to
But that is after the bulk of the game has been beaten properly
and there's certainly some great challenges making up the finale
designed for those who have mastered the core gameplay
If only the whole game was as robust as the last few hours
There’s no question Revenge of the Savage Planet comprises a lot of busywork dressed up in snot and large draw distances
There is enough variety to the gameplay to keep you entertained
though it always feels like you’re just skating on the slippery surface of what could have been a classic
The combat never feels particularly satisfying
except for when you capture a tough new critter
The planets are impressively grand in their scale and ambition
and the experience is impressively bug-free
from a technical point of view if not zoologically
and mean-spirited – resulting in a slightly uncomfortable and uneven gaming experience

Revenge of the Savage PlanetXbox Series X|S
You know, I'd sort of forgotten how much I enjoyed 2020's Journey to the Savage Planet
Typhoon Studios' debut was a fantastically unique and colourful one that challenged you to think at all times
as you made your way across what was - and still is - a great big planet-sized platform-puzzle populated by cute aliens to...well...blow to pieces and kick around the place
Where the first game ran into some undoubted issues - and it did launch to fairly mixed reviews
with a Metascore of 78 - was mostly with regards to its first-person perspective which
It felt as though the view on what you were doing needed to be pulled back for comfort's sake
Revenge of the Savage Planet switches things to a 3rd person perspective
and sees players return to the depths of space for more Glob-based goodness
utterly abandoned by an evil corporation and left to rot in the outer reaches
and so you'll need to start surviving ASAP
if you're gonna make it all the way back to your ba****d boss for some sweet revenge
This is as much of the narrative as you need to know
in order to get started (in either single-player or fully online/local co-op)
the shift to 3rd person reveals itself to be a huge upgrade for the platforming action that follows
abandoned on the first of four planets and left to start scanning and using your weak-ass blaster to fend off aliens
a floating droid who'll keep you right on where to go and what you'll need for your next upgrade
whilst threading a line of jokey chat that isn't as annoying as it could have been
The game does also allow you to choose between a male and female voice on your companion
as well as changing the frequency of their chatter
I've been quite enjoying EKO's gently potty humour
Now, if you've played the first game, or have been keeping up with progress on this one, you'll know that it's a mash-up of the likes of Banjo Kazooie or Yooka Laylee
that sort of intense 3D platforming collectathon deal of old
It's got some Metroid (this game is all about backtracking for new routes)
in how important putting back together your essential kitbag of tools is to the core gameplay
You'll spend the entire game chasing your next piece of tech in order to make fighting or traversing environs easier/better
This may sound a bit like more of the same sort of busywork as usual
but Revenge of the Savage Planet is such a very well made thing
fighting and surveying some amazing alien vistas all the more cohesive
this is a sequel that not only improves on its predecessor
it honestly feels more like a full-on reboot
how you use it to catch and collect specimens (who then get sent off to be experimented on
I also love how spraying water on certain enemies causes them to rupture and explode
chiefly because it is very reminiscent of playing Super Mario Sunshine
here you've got four wildly different ones to explore (with a fifth secret one for those who earn it)
with even bothersome flying insects (I hate shooting insects in the air
thanks) easy to take down without first resorting to pulling the rest of your hair out
I won't ruin much of any of the many branches of new gear and tools you'll get to dig into - discovering that stuff's at least 60% of the fun here - but gosh they've made a lot of cool ways to zoom around these planets (and under the water
You can almost immediately unlock the ability to zero fall damage as well
when pared with those big goofy Disney-esque strides that your avatar takes
It makes exploration wildly fun and exciting
and once you put another player in the mix
playing split-screen with my son on this one has been some of the best co-op fun we've had in quite some time
A quick press down on the D-pad and everything of note is highlighted as a grid sweeps out across the environment
and then you're free to make your way to nab anything you fancy
and constant collecting of loot/resources in order to 3D print all-manner of gear
you can also dig into spending your earnings on customising your base with lots of furniture and gadgets to make it more homely
I genuinely couldn't care less about doing this home improvement/base decorating side-gig
so I'm glad it feels like I can ignore it pretty much and still enjoy the rest of the game immensely
There are also loads of outfits to score in order to dress your avatar up
which is good because the outfits here look great
there's a pleasing amount of variety in the planets you'll visit
and judging from what I've seen of the rest
traversal options and enemies on each planet should help make for an adventure that keeps itself interesting right to the end
it's not really about the narrative so much
this is all about living in the fun of the moment
grabbing a pal and spending your time jumping and jet-packing
as you upgrade and explore to your heart's content
the enemies are well-designed and there's huge variety in how you deal with them
What's not to love about digging into that lot with a pal in tow
and Typhoon Studios has well and truly kept the streak alive with this one
unless it all goes to pot on the last few planets
I'll be back to add a score once I've seen the final credits roll

@PJOReilly thanks 👍 I think I started the first one but never finished it
Are you guys going to have a Metal Eden review
journey to the savage planet was a great little game
I told y’all that this was going to be sneaky good… or at least hoped it would be…
now just panicking at the May 15th games leaving before this all sinks in…
@MasterTanookiChief Not going to have a review for Metal Eden unfortunately
@FraserG I saw it on your guys list as coming out tonight but also see it got delayed on another site
@smellyplaymarky that’s genuinely insane when much more visually impressive games such as Clair Obscur have 60fps modes

Revenge of the Savage Planet is coming to Xbox and is Day One in Game Pass
that turned into a miracle production after the game’s developers were bought and then shut down by Google
and beautifully stupid action-platformer that should leave anyone delighted
Raccoon Logic was formed after Typhoon Studios was shut down by the Stadia division at Google
was a 1st-person action platformer that looked OK
Revenge of the Savage Planet is four times as good because it has four times as many planets to explore as the original
You can add another triple-better multiplier on there as the perspective has shifted from 1st to 3rd person
Now you can see your intrepid explorer as they’re rocketed off to a new series of planets to live
and repeat it all for a new corporate overlord
Revenge features seemingly hours of video full of insane characters
Wacky ads play on the enormous screen in your habitat
Every mission has rib-cracking voice-overs as you bounce from one enjoyable objective to another
so I’ll just say that the conclusion to each was satisfyingly dumb
Revenge of the Savage Planet is an exploration and combat game with progression heavily gated via upgrades
the initial tutorials earn you a plasma gun
You’ll need those resources to upgrade your health & stamina
aka a giant orange pod that your little explorer will scarf down
The resources for upgrades come in three varieties: carbon
There are several supply crates around each of the four main planets that contain different suit cosmetics
you’ll unlock a laser whip that deals damage to enemies and pops certain obstacle blobs
It gets an upgrade that turns it into a grapple that requires certain points to be used… at first (WINK)
but my main issue with the game (outside of quest bugs) was how upgrades were hidden behind arbitrary in-game tasks
I didn’t enjoy having to grind out a checklist of hard-to-do tasks to get all of the upgrades
There is only one gun that can shoot little pew pews or one big old PEW
You can even get a Gears-style active-reload upgrade for it
as Xbox code was not ready in time for the embargo
It felt and looked great on my beefy PC on both controller and mouse/keyboard
Revenge of the Savage Planet is an extremely goofy
As you click in the right stick and scan your environment for quests/completionism
it’s immediately apparent that the writers at Raccoon Logic know how to be funny in a video game
That is about as hard as writing can be for the medium
As I played through co-op for a bit with our own EIC Jon Clarke
Revenge is that perfect mix of fun gameplay
The move to a 3rd person perspective works well
Your character has slightly off proportions and moves around like a cartoon character. The running animation is hilarious
and falling from a great height sees you fold like an accordion
I am not sure how this game is going to look or run on an Xbox or PlayStation
so you’ll want to check that out before buying it on either platform
I have no idea what engine it’s one but performance at 4k ultra with balanced FSR was a solid 60 to 100 fps depending on the situation
Each planet has a unique look and series of mechanics that it focuses on
There is a fifth location tied to a story quest that isn’t explorable but has a nice aesthetic as well
It’s accompanied by music that rides the line between goofy and annoying
with one major issue being how often it starts and stops when combat is going on
It constantly starts and stops and starts and stops and it drove me mad after a while
Anyone that skips the videos and cutscenes in this one is doing a disservice to how well written and acted it all is
I had some annoying bugs when it came to quests and waypoints
One of the main quests needs you to find five things across the four planets
and boy howdy did that make it hard for me to find it all
was one questline completely breaking for hours until it randomly fixed itself and let me finally finish it off
It was one of the 3 main questlines as well
Revenge of the Savage Planet should take most 10 to 15 hours to complete
with the achievement hunters getting upwards of 20

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a third-person adventure full of dangers on alien planets, goop, and late-late-late-late-late stage capitalism developed by Raccoon Logic Studios. Now, I’ve seen some things about its prior entry, Journey to the Savage Planet
with some trailers before its release and seen it on sale in a few storefronts
It just seemed like another one of those first-person survival crafting games
I decided to check out its sequel when it came up
will the planets align to create a great game or will my admittedly shallow assumptions be proven correct
which bought out Kindred Aerospace so they can colonise the stars
and now you've been cryogenically frozen for 100 years and sent on a safe trip to a nice
uninhabited planet to turn into humanity's next home
it'll be time to explore the new star system
a little different: by "marginally better"
I mean "crash landed"; and by "uninhabited"
I guess it's time to ditch this rock and find a way back to Earth
with a drone companion to guide you every step of the way (though you can turn off their voice)
potentially another unemployed person (read: another player) to help you out
and there are a few parties who are interested in keeping you alive
Maybe surviving these savage planets might not be so bad… plus
a little revenge on Alta might be sweet too
Though it won’t wow you with the most interesting twists and turns
and it got me to at least chortle a few times
It’s full of slapstick and satire that will leave you hollering
especially when you kick your co-op buddy off a cliff into tar
which didn’t annoy me even when I had it on the “Lots” voice setting
ranging from plot important to nonsense commercials
It’s nice to relax between outings into the wilds to check out what’s being advertised
like a giant mansion on monster truck wheels
But I think there should be a special mention to the animations: they're cartoony
and oddly jovial despite the fact that you've been left for dead
Even the fall damage animations can be really fun to see
It all ties together with the looks of the game
where it’s often bright and colourful with cute designs for the deadly creatures you’ll encounter
Really glad it's in third-person instead of first-person
as you get to appreciate these planets a lot more
and crafting your way through the main campaign
exploring more than four planets filled with different dangers
and slowly but surely figuring out how to get back home in one piece
You can make your stay a little more tolerable by spending Alta coupons to customise your habitat in Nuflorida… like it isn’t already hell there in real life anyways
You should have a variety of tools at your disposal to help deal with these hostile worlds
such as a gun with charge shots and bouncing bullets
an electric whip/lasso to capture creatures as well as grind plasma rails
a jump pack to reach greater heights and dodge by dabbing (that is so outdated)
all that equipment is scattered throughout the star system
so you'll either have to find it or replace it
you go from a clueless idiot with enough copium to not hole up in your space trailer for the rest of your (likely very short) life to a genuine space hero with a jaunty walking animation
finding orange goo to increase your health and stamina
many quests that will reward you with stylish cosmetic items or more upgrades
doing an initial run of an area to grab a key item
then going back to planets you’ve completed to pick up all the orange goo and supplies you had to leave behind
I liked that the game is kind enough to tell you what’s impossible to get unless you have the right upgrade… at least
There is surprisingly a lot you can do with just a double jump
and your drone will actually act surprised that you managed to pull it off and congratulate you
while also hyping me up for the new abilities I’ll get
but it’s mostly unobtrusive here: you’ll only need to worry about four types of resources
three of which you’ll obtain naturally in large quantities
and you’ll probably have everything you need when you do need to craft something
but I actually had fun going out of my way to smash rocks
either in split screen or online with crossplay
with the caveat that you must have an Epic Games account to do so
That might be a dealbreaker for some if they want to play with friends across systems
While I personally didn’t test it out (due to a lack of people available to play with me)
but playing with a friend always makes it better
with only about 20 hours needed to see everything
It's a miracle that I have working oxygen..
I didn’t run into many issues while playing Revenge of the Savage Planet
I was running the game consistently at 60 FPS with rarely any frame drops and no glitches to ruin my fun
Maybe a few jarring animations and quick flashes of seeing my character not teleported
I wish the upgrades were explained a little clearer with the option to check out previous tutorials
customising your habitat is a little restrictive
combat isn’t too complex unless you’re going for challenges
and sometimes I wished for a faster method of travel
I do have one warning: when customising your character after the tutorial section
the profile picture you choose will be your voice
I highly recommend NOT using the anime girl when playing with family
Revenge of the Savage Planet is really good
and I think I should go back and play Journey to the Savage Planet
and some third thing I can’t think of right now
Revenge of the Savage Planet is coming out on the 9th of May on PlayStation 5
Revenge of the Savage Planet is an excellent
goo-filled adventure with plenty to do on your journey from being a hapless fool to a genuine space hero
An Australian-born guy whose trying to show everyone why games are awesome
When Journey to the Savage Planet launched back in early 2020
slapstick satire on corporate evil under the guise of an exploratory sci-fi action platformer
Crash-landed on an uncharted planet as an underequipped and 3D-printable worker
your overseers at Kindred Aerospace were exactly the kind of unfeeling executive types we’re all-too familiar with in the real world – more concerned with making lines go up on a graph than the welfare of expendable ranks or their effect on communities at large
comes at a time where the games industry is very much feeling the effects of the march of these megacorporations in some pretty big ways
Sweeping acquisitions that beget mass layoffs while companies chase trends and homogenise creative output
if you’re at all invested in the state of things in video games you’ll know that these are stories that permeate the conversation almost daily
So it makes sense that they’d also flow back into the art
in as much an act of catharsis as it is defiance from the folks at the ink end of those big
This is exactly how it happened to me…
Kindred Aerospace has been acquired by Alta InterGlobal
an even bigger corporation with an even shinier image
But despite the constant mantra of “Fuelled by Families,” these new bosses of yours are as calculated and cold as ever
On sending you out to scout yet another planet to potentially colonise
your ship carrying the future framework of an entire community is damaged out in space
And rather than pay the exorbitant cost of getting you back out
Alta does what big corporations do best and simply relieves you of your employment
swing and shoot your way through untamed areas in search of resources and upgrades that’ll let you push even further and
recover the craft you need to put this fate behind you and go home
This time around there are a handful of distinct planets to hop between on your mission
fauna and resulting ecosystem that informs traversal and puzzle-solving
This expansion mercifully doesn’t make for a more bloated experience
in fact it’s around the same 10-15 hour commitment as last time
I’ve seen this prompt before in my teenage years
the folks at Raccoon Logic have poured all efforts into improving game feel and refining the personality of this goofy sci-fi world
The switch to a third-person camera is transformative not just in how it all plays in the hand but for how much more character can be infused into your minimum-wage spacefarer
Walking and running animations are appropriately over-the-top and can vary wildly depending on whether you’re treading water or sliding on green goo
which looks great and also helps parse your traversal situation on the fly
That’s especially handy against this sequel’s emphasis on goo-based challenges
tasking you with handling numerous types of elemental sludge to affect enemies
solve environmental puzzles or just lay down a slick runway
Interactions with alien fauna are also a bit deeper than just kicking them around this time
though that’s definitely still an option
It’s now possible to lasso and capture creatures after catching them by surprise or figuring out their weak spots
which affords the ability to research them as well as keep them penned in mini-habitats back at home base
Their designs are even more wild than last time
so it’s nice to be able to visit and interact with tame versions and appreciate them in ways you can’t when they’re trying to kill you
the game’s middling and rudimentary shooting mechanics tend to grate
progress through Revenge’s quest is only lightly guided
encouraging exploration of every available inch of each planet
with plenty of opportunity to retread ground sporting new abilities to reach previously inaccessible points as you blaze your own trail and complete loosely-organised objectives toward your goals of leaving and/or taking down Alta
The elemental goo puzzles are a bit of a treat initially
but by the end you’ll find that the vast majority are the exact same variety of “draw a line of conductive splooge from this electric mushroom to this other one.”
It certainly helps that all of these alien worlds look a million space-bucks
Raccoon Logic has genuinely outdone itself on both the art and tech side with lush worlds full of immense detail and smart use of key UE5 effects that serve the vision
Some may balk at what I believe is a 30FPS target on consoles
but the action here is basic enough that I never felt cheated by a scarcity of frames
It’s all worth it for the spotless presentation
The studio has also outdone itself on the FMV video messages and parody adverts that charmed in the original game
Production values on these are shockingly significant
hilariously unnecessarily so in many cases
and it just drives home the sense that Raccoon Logic has a lot of fun crafting these games
The game’s humour wasn’t always to my taste – I could do without the millennial cringe core humour and fat suits
but then sometimes you’ll get an ad for a kids’ AI-powered companion that outwardly states it’s designed to reflect their own interest back at them
an increasingly-irate Alta CEO puts great effort and expense into erecting a taunting visual gag in your encampment
only to radio in and spell the metaphor out plainly before you’ve had a chance to appreciate it – now that’s AAA
Revenge of the Savage Planet already looked to end on a pitch-perfect note
rewarding the time and effort I’d put into erecting an entire outpost – inclusive of my own customised living quarters and several small zoos – with utter abandonment
But then it managed an even greater late-game twist

PokerStars recently released a new set of procedures to improve security and integrity throughout their tournaments.
The biggest procedure put forth is that all dealers will continue to slide cards instead of pitching
The reason for this is so that players with bad intentions cannot see the cards coming off the deck
not only with their eyes but with technology and cameras in their phones
This situation has actually recently happened at some casinos
I also understand the amount of effort it would take for the procedure to be changed worldwide
Not only have dealers been pitching cards for decades
but there are certain costs and training and retraining that would need to be done
In Europe, many dealers have been trained this way from the start
they mandate that dealers use shoes when they slide deal
I'd support this change because it is the best way to maintain integrity when dealing
But that doesn't mean that card room and casino management around the globe would be willing to pay for new felts
I will again bring this up at our upcoming TDA Summit and see what the attendees think about making the slide pitching standard a reality
I don't even know how sliding instead of pitching ergonomically affects dealers
Is it more difficult for them to do that than the standard pitch
including the recently-retired podcaster Matt Berkey
who repeatedly told me how easy it would be for every dealer to make this change
I challenge all of you to send me a video of yourself at home or your local casino slide dealing
I invite you to show me how easy it is.
What do you think about the dealer sliding cards instead of pitching
I ask all the fans and players to directly submit interesting situations and videos to me on my X account

The wait is nearly over—Revenge of the Savage Planet
the much-anticipated sequel to 2020’s cult-favorite Journey to the Savage Planet
irreverent formula of its predecessor while introducing major gameplay shifts
One of the biggest changes in Revenge of the Savage Planet is the shift from first-person to third-person gameplay
This adjustment gives players a more expansive view of the alien environments and better showcases the zany visual design that defines the series
It also improves spatial awareness for platforming and co-op traversal—something the developers at Raccoon Logic say was a top request from fans of the first game
Set once again in the strange universe of Kindred Aerospace—the “fourth best” interstellar exploration company—this sequel follows the return of disgraced CEO Martin Tweed
Expect a heavy dose of satirical corporate propaganda
is brimming with grotesquely cute wildlife
and tongue-in-cheek environmental storytelling
While the game retains its humor-forward tone
it expands the story’s depth and worldbuilding
Revenge of the Savage Planet supports both single-player and multiplayer options
Players can explore with a friend via online co-op or local split-screen
the game supports full cross-play across Xbox Series X|S
and PC—making it easier to jump into a session regardless of your platform
Early Access began May 5 through the Cosmic Hoarder Edition
This edition was designed to reward longtime fans and collectors with some tongue-in-cheek extras
calling it “an imaginative romp through a cartoon apocalypse of corporate nonsense.” Critics have highlighted the improved traversal mechanics
adding more verticality and momentum to exploration
Some reviewers note the humor may still be too polarizing for certain players
and a few gameplay loops—such as resource collection—can feel repetitive if you’re not invested in the world’s absurd charm
Revenge of the Savage Planet is shaping up to be one of 2025’s most unique sci-fi adventures
Whether you’re a returning fan or new to the series
the galaxy of SLAPPI awaits—with glowing goo
and snarky corporate commentary in abundance

The sci-fi setting maintains the bright color palette and quirky aesthetic that defined the first game
while expanding the universe with new locations to investigate and secrets to uncover
Players will navigate these alien worlds through jumping
and collecting – core activities that define the metroidvania experience
The exploration aspect is heavily emphasized
with players encouraged to explore “every nook and cranny” to progress through the game
The collection of dozens of upgrades forms a central progression system
New tools include a grapple and lasso function
expanding movement options beyond the original game
These upgrades will likely be crafted from resources gathered during exploration
Scanning the environment and alien life forms returns as a key mechanic
helping players gather information and potentially unlock new areas or abilities
Survival remains important as players navigate hostile alien environments filled with dangers
A major new addition to the sequel is enhanced character customization options
Players will be able to personalize their appearance with various options
allowing for greater player expression than in the original game
The customizable space trailer serves as the player’s base of operations
This mobile home can be modified and upgraded throughout the adventure
providing both functional benefits and cosmetic changes
These personalization options align with the game’s satirical themes
potentially offering comedic outfits or decorations that comment on corporate culture while maintaining the game’s irreverent tone
Revenge of the Savage Planet packs in numerous gameplay elements that build upon its predecessor while introducing fresh mechanics
and cooperation with a distinctive sci-fi humor that runs throughout the experience
Revenge of the Savage Planet significantly expands its multiplayer options compared to the original game. Players can now enjoy third-person online cooperative play with full cross-play support across platforms
This means friends can team up regardless of whether they’re playing on PC
For those who prefer gaming together in the same room

The May 8th release will be a day one title on Xbox Game Pass
making it immediately accessible to subscribers
These varied multiplayer options ensure players can experience the weird and wonderful alien environments together

breathing world that reacts to player presence and actions
Environmental hazards and secrets are scattered throughout each area
and mysterious structures await discovery in the game’s colorful and often dangerous landscapes
The vibrant art style gives each region a distinct visual identity while maintaining the franchise’s quirky aesthetic
Combat in Revenge of the Savage Planet balances accessibility with strategic depth
Players will face increasingly challenging alien creatures as they venture deeper into the planet’s mysteries
The iconic Goo Cannon returns alongside new weapons and tools for dealing with hostile entities
Combat encounters require players to identify enemy weaknesses and utilize environmental advantages rather than relying on brute force alone
Boss battles against larger alien creatures serve as major progression points
These encounters test players’ mastery of movement
The game maintains its predecessor’s approach of making combat one option among many for dealing with obstacles
Players can often choose between direct confrontation
or creative problem-solving when facing the planet’s more aggressive inhabitants
This flexibility allows for different playstyles while navigating the often deadly alien landscape
Progression in Revenge of the Savage Planet revolves around discovering new gear and upgrading existing equipment
Players will collect resources from the environment to craft improvements to their explorer’s capabilities
The upgrade system allows for customization based on preferred playstyle
or resource collection efficiency depending on their priorities
New areas become accessible as players acquire specific gear upgrades
This metroidvania-inspired approach encourages revisiting previous areas with new abilities to uncover previously inaccessible secrets
Players will also progress through narrative discoveries that reveal more about the mysterious planet and the corporations that seek to exploit it
These story elements are woven throughout the exploration experience rather than delivered through lengthy cutscenes
maintaining the game’s focus on active gameplay

Jordan Spieth had a front row seat to Scottie Scheffler's spectacular victory in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson
Scheffler won by tying the PGA Tour scoring record
but for what he has done for the last few seasons
Speaking from TPC Craig Ranch after finishing his fourth round
Spieth described his perspective on the results of fellow Dallas resident Scheffler
what he's been doing is inspiring given -- I mean
it wasn't that long ago I was definitely better than him
Spieth also added that he is still hungry for titles in professional golf
"I'm not jealous of him [Scheffler] winning this event over any other
The three-time major champion's perspective is not limited to what he sees on the Tour
Scheffler's leap in quality has been evident for him on other stages as well
"I play a lot of golf with him in town here," Spieth said

That's just the way it's been the last few years
Here's Jordan Spieth talking about Scottie Scheffler:"What he's doing is very inspiring, what he's been doing is inspiring given it wasn't that long ago I was definitely better than him, and now I'm definitely not right now and I hate admitting that about anybody." pic.twitter.com/vE0riyP1py
Jordan Spieth went from strength to strength at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson
then carded back-to-back 67s in the second and third rounds
to close firing a final-round 62 that saw him climb 19 places on the leaderboard to finish fourth
This is the third top 10 of the season for Spieth, who has shown signs of recovery after slumping the past two seasons and undergoing wrist surgery last summer
he adds three more top 20s and only one missed cut in 10 events played
Spieth will play the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in two weeks, seeking the one title he needs to complete the career Grand Slam, something Rory McIlroy achieved three weeks ago when he won the Masters Tournament
Scottie Scheffler won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson for the first time in six starts there
His score of 31-under 253 tied the PGA Tour aggregate record set by Justin Thomas at the 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii

Welcome to another "American Rifleman" Gun Of The Week video. Today, we’re hitting the range with a brand-new lever-action rifle from Savage Arms. The Revel is a rimfire lever gun that’s made in North America and loaded with features that belie its affordable price point. Watch our video above to see it in use on the range
Savage Arms
has a history with the lever-action concept
when he set out to establish his firearm company
did so with what became the vaunted Model 99 lever-action rifle
and the company ultimately made more than one million of these guns before production ceased in the late 1990s
Savage Arms is back in the lever-action business with a new option designed with affordability
shootability and ease of transport in mind
Made at the Savage Arms facility in Lakefield
lever-action rifle chambered for .22 Long Rifle
the gun we have on the range is the Revel Classic
with traditionally configured furniture made from Turkish walnut
the Revel DLX (Deluxe) features upgraded walnut furniture with a pistol-grip design
The straight stock on the Classic is mated to an aluminum trigger housing that is secured to the aluminum receiver body via two captured takedown pins
This configuration allows the rifle to be separated into two components for easy
Attached to the aluminum receiver body is an 18” carbon-steel barrel
underneath of which sits a tubular magazine
Savage also offers the Revel in .22 WMR and .17 HMR chamberings
each of which have a magazine capacity of nine rounds
simply twist the end of the magazine cap and withdraw the internal brass sleeve
Drop cartridges into the cutout on the underside of the magazine tube
then re-insert the brass sleeve and twist it back onto the tube until it locks
the Savage Revel Classic comes with an oversized lever loop that provides room for larger hands
and users can operate the rifle easily with gloves
and a crossbolt safety is located at the rear of the receiver
Sights consist of a drift-adjustable front post and an elevation-adjustable
The receiver is drilled and tapped for optic bases as well
the Savage Arms Revel was lightweight and comfortable to operate
It’s worth noting that Savage sets up the Revel with a 14.5” length of pull to fit most adults
and that stands out considering the many youth-sized rimfire rifles on the market
The trigger pull on our sample was crisp and clean
and operating the lever was smooth and easy
we were able to send plenty of .22 LR downrange
there’s nothing like a classic lever-action to do it with
and the Savage Revel fits the bill for a fun
range-ready rimfire rifle that won’t break the bank
Savage Arms Revel Classic SpecificationsImporter: Savage Arms Action Type: lever-action

the industry’s economic impact rose from $90.5 billion in 2023 to $91.7 billion in 2024
Kahr Arms has been most well-known for its single-stack line of concealed-carry pistols
the company is moving into the double-stack market with its new Premium X Series
Henry's Special Products Division has officially released its first line of unique offerings in its HUSH series of suppressor-ready lever-action rifles
Built primarily from thick 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum
is an incredibly robust and stable gun rest designed for use with pistols and long guns alike
This week on #SundayGunday we test-fire the Revel Classic, a new-for-2025 lever-action rimfire rifle available from Savage Arms
and models in .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire and .17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire will be available this summer
The first thing to note about this brand-new lever action is it’s a takedown
which makes the Revel easy to clean and a great gun to gift a beginning rifleman
What better way for a little pard to learn the responsibility of gun ownership
Only a couple of pins need to be punched to separate the upper and lower receiver to expose the bolt and breech and easily punch the bore from breech to muzzle
this points out what a great backpack gun this makes for a hiker or camper or trapper
Run your hand through the oversized loop and work the lever
Cycle and shoot a couple of rounds to see the reliable feeding
The trigger is crisp—beginning and experienced shooters can do some pretty precise plinking with this rifle
The tubular magazine holds 12 rounds in .22 Long Rifle and nine rounds in .22 Mag
you can load this 22 on Sunday and shoot it twice a day until Friday
you can move about surely by using the rifle’s crossbolt safety
The Revel Classic wears a satin finish Turkish walnut stock
In back you’ll find a black composite buttpad
The medium profile carbon steel barrel measures 18 inches long
and features a slightly recessed crown to protect the rifling
Sights include a buckhorn rear with an elevator to make adjustments for elevation and a front carbon steel blade so you can start shooting the gun right out of the box
But if you’d like to dial in the gun even tighter
the receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts
The Benelli Lupo HPR was designed to bridge the gap between extreme long-range shooting and hunting
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is the latest partner to join the Outdoor Stewards of Conservation Foundation’s (OSCF) “Fill A Bag While Filling Your Tag” program
ultra-tight-choked turkey guns can make bagging a bird more probable when the range is long—as long as you understand their drawbacks
Looking for ways to hit the road this fall
Check out these gear options for the travelling hunter
Hunters aged 6 to 15 checked 1,443 gobblers during the Arkansas youth turkey hunts April 12 and 13
an increase of 22 percent over last year’s total
enjoying their state’s special season to pursue gobblers the same weekend
beating the three-season average of 1,571 birds
The excuses started flying left and right for the Texas faithful on Saturday
Losing a hard-fought series on the road 2-1 in the meat-grinder that is SEC baseball is one thing
Getting blown away with a composite score of 28-9 in which you never really stood a chance in a single game is an entirely different thing altogether.
Still, the Longhorn mind is, if anything, a marvel in the art of self-rationalization. It proved that once again by conjuring a number of constructs to soothe itself in the wake of Arkansas’ utter demolition of No. 1 Texas in Fayetteville.
Some fans made themselves feel better by projecting ahead to the College World Series. “Arkansas is great in their tiny stadium,” member jessed50 wrote on the message board Orangebloods. “There’s a reason why they have struggled on the road
“Jessed50” may want to check the road records of the nation’s top seven teams according to WarrenNolan.com
there are four teams in that group doing worse on the road
something about which we can hope Longhorn Nation has legitimate knowledge
It is true that Friday night starter Jared Spencer
Then there’s All-American outfielder Max Belyeu
who’s been out for these last 22 games after undergoing thumb surgery
The problem with leaning on this as a crutch
is that this time of year every team deals with significant injuries
Just ask Arkansas baseball coach Dave Van Horn
who’s tweaked his lineup after losing the likes of Nolan Souza and Carson Wiggins
The key is having a team that is deep enough to sustain those inevitable blows.
If the Arkansas vs Texas series showed anything
it’s that Texas is not yet at the same level as the very best in the SEC in terms of overall talent
“This team has played over its head all season,” Baconbeard wrote on Orangebloods.com
“We are middle of the pack at best when it comes to talent in the conference.”
who goes by the simply-rolls-off-your-tongue name of “orange_oso_fu,” chimed in by praising Arkansas as the national title favorite: “Texas is a couple of years from matching up talent-wise and having [Ethan] Mendoza not in the field and Max out of the lineup doesn’t help
especially when you lose your Friday ace 3/4 of the way thru the season.”
in a blessed show of rationality: “Even with all of those three in the lineup we don’t compare
This kind of disparity is what Texas baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle has wrought.
He knows that it takes continuity across a number of years to build the foundation of a program that will eventually contend for a national championship
It took Tony Vitello seven years to bring home the bacon at Tennessee
Tim Corbin 11 years to snag his first national title at Vanderbilt and of course Dave Van Horn hasn’t yet won one in 22 years at Arkansas but he has had the team on the cusp multiple times.
Schlossnagle was building toward a similar arc at Texas A&M
He had his Aggies up 1-0 in the CWS finals before Texas A&M ended up letting its foot off the pedal and allowing the Vols to take it
The optics were even worse: Less than 24 hours before news broke of his departure, he snapped at a reporter as he tried to gaslight a reporter’s perfectly reasonable question about Texas coaching rumors.
This wasn’t even the first time Schlossnagle had left a program high and dry for a former SWC in-state rival. Three years before, he’d left TCU for College Station right after announcing that he had “no interest in any other job.”
Schlossnagle deserves credit for the outstanding season start but it will take much longer for him to get Texas to a place where it has the same top-to-bottom firepower as a program like Arkansas.
Some Texas fans liken the vibe coming out of this weekend to the feeling around the Texas football team getting ambushed in Fayetteville in September 2021.
then in his first season as Texas’ head coach
started that fall with a 20-point win over the No
23 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns before taking his No
15 Longhorns to face an unranked Hogs squad that was ready to make a big national statement.
What followed was one of the top two wins of the Sam Pittman era, a 40-21 manhandling by the Hogs which helped spark what remains Pittman’s best season.
Sarkisian found out the hard way that beating the Hogs on their home field would not be a “sure” thing like it had been at Alabama
where he’d worked for Nick Saban in the very definition of institutional consistency.
Few batted an eye when Sarkisian had left his Alabama offensive coordinator job for Texas in January 2021
but his jumping ship resulted in some tough times that first fall all the same.
The big difference between ‘21 Arkansas vs Texas in football and its ‘25 counterpart in baseball is that the ‘21 Longhorns were more talented top-to-bottom than those gridiron Hogs
They just ran into an absolute buzzsaw when it came to their opponents’ motivation
it didn’t take him too long to turn it around
By the time he returned to Fayetteville in 2024
the Longhorns were clearly the superior program.
That doesn’t appear like it will change any time soon.
Instead of dealing with a talent deficiency like it does in football
Arkansas has recently put out teams in those sports with more firepower than pretty much every other SEC program
Texas has a rich baseball history but let’s not kid ourselves about it being a baseball school
Overcoming Arkansas on the regular will be much harder for Schlossnagle’s Longhorns than it was for Sarkisian on the gridiron
It’s a challenge that Longhorn fans expect he can meet head-on and not run from
most hopes of Schlossnagle not running away are misplaced.
Arkansas always has a gaudy regular season record and then falters in the playoffs
They have a good hitting team but their pitchers aren’t as good as they showed this weekend
So this is a little taste of what it’s like to be an aggy
I hope tomorrow they can find their A$$ because it got completely bit off this weekend
We finally caught one of the teams from the top end of the conference when they’re firing on all cylinders and we aint
We don’t even look like we belong on the field with these guys
They just don’t make ’em like ol’ Augie Garrido* any more:

It’s true name is 🔶🟥🔵—impossible to say
Its peculiarly styled name is just the one of the ways in which Shapes
exists outside of the traditional cocktail bar box
Shapes is built entirely around Bauhaus principles and serves drinks that are as surprising as they are elegant
In line with the tenets of the revolutionary art school founded in 1919 in Germany
the team at Shapes created a bar where form follows function
with drinks based around functional minimalism
Savage was fiercely committed to upholding Bauhaus tenets as he began to build out Shapes
“We pride ourselves on being completely coherent with a particular artistic ambition,” he says
is to answer a question essential to the Bauhaus movement: “How can we manifest beauty at scale?” The answer is to create a bar in which every element is as functional as possible
That means flavor elements like fruits and herbs are made into distillates for more consistent application in cocktails
and that each drink is pre-batched and individually bottled for speed of service and perfect consistency
Each cocktail is rigorously evaluated on flavor elements
and appearance to most perfectly express the vision of the bartender who made it
The team makes its own ice so that each sphere is perfectly round
“Everything that takes a long time has already been made,” Savage says
“and all of this is done in the back of house in order to be able to effectively serve drinks that still are creative and very current modern drinks.”
Savage plans to open bars built around different modern art movements all around the world
he opened up Bar Nouveau in Paris and has ideas for an Art Deco bar in the US
“You can google 10 different art movements from the 20th century,” he says
“I will open bars based on all of them.” The beauty of Shapes
is that you don’t need to know anything about art history
or the delicate science of distillation to have a good time and a great cocktail
Here are three drinks at Shapes that help tell its story
This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from
just down the road—holds a square glass prism inside like some kind of tesseract
another reference to the frame-within-a-frame motif of Malevich’s painting
thanks to the lactic acid left over from the clarifying process
One of the bar’s original formulations, the Pastel was designed as an approachable Tom Collins–style cocktail
Savage became curious about how he might multiply the acidic elements
“What would it bring to add malic acid through the use of rhubarb?” he wondered
That was compounded with an ingenious invention he calls recomposed lime—lime juice distillate
It’s a liquid that smells and tastes exactly like lime juice
but it’s infinitely shelf-stable—a must for Shapes’ bottled cocktails
Swap out the Tom Collins’s traditional gin for vodka
“It’s the most sessionable drinker in the universe
The batā-wari is Shapes’s take on Mizuwari
translated as “cut with water,” in which one part whiskey is mixed with two parts water
The drink started with fat-washing whiskey in butter
but Savage found it lacking some of the sweetness he wanted
To add a bit of dynamism and cut through these big flavors
menthol notes of Palo Santo via an ultra-concentrated tea made with the aromatic wood itself
it was actually quite easy to balance the drink.” There are a few major flavors at play here
smoked flavors of the whiskey remain at the foundation of the golden

When the college hockey season began in October
I predicted Michigan State University hockey would win the 2025 national championship
National champion favorites in my eyes.
But my hopes for MSU hockey to win the national championship have slimmed down drastically
But there is something amiss from this team that could separate them from the best.
That something is senior forward Red Savage
Savage wasn’t just some average hockey player who skated around like everyone else
He was a senior captain who brought leadership and competitiveness to this team.
this glue-guy is no longer side by side with his team to finish the fight
"He finds ways to lift guys up," head coach Adam Nightingale said on Jan
28 after Savage was pronounced out for the season
Leadership doesn’t stop when you’re injured."
Leadership doesn’t stop when a captain is injured
The captain will continue to lead and coach their teammates from afar
One way Savage can accomplish this is by simply showing support whenever he can
or even in an informal setting with his teammates
His new goal should be keeping team morale high
The Spartans no longer have their top man on the ice to control the game
bringing an end to their authentic on-ice leadership
Let’s look back at Savage’s leadership to understand his impact
Savage was drafted in the fourth round to the Detroit Red Wings
There’s also the respect and high praise that he has continuously received since his arrival to East Lansing
Nightingale had high expectations for his leadership
"That’s one of the biggest reasons we wanted him," Nightingale said
"He definitely has those leadership qualities
and that will be important with a young group this year."
So we have reports of Savage being a leader
but what about tangible examples like this authentic on ice leadership
we must catch a glimpse of what Savage contributed to the Notre Dame series earlier in the year.
Struggling through a sluggish first period tied 1-1
as MSU would go on to squash Notre Dame 8-3
Savage played a key defensive role in the Spartans 4-3 victory.
Savage scored five goals with nine assists and accounted for seven blocks
Savage was the captain who ignited every MSU player with an inextinguishable fire
Tiernan Shoudy and Karsen Dorwart that can attempt to hold down the fort
It’s like when Detroit Lions star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson suffered a gruesome season-ending lower-body injury against the Dallas Cowboys
and what ensued was the crumble of what once was a top NFL defense
but this is evidence that even losing one can spell the end.
The same could happen for Savage and the Spartans
Some might argue a captain isn’t essential to winning in hockey
especially when a captain has been established to begin the season.
Let’s look at the Colorado Avalanche for example
the Avalanche were defending Stanley Cup champions and projected to win again
captain Gabriel Landeskog went down with a brutal knee injury that has kept him sidelined since
the Avalanche have been good — but not great — since
So when I first heard the news of Savage’s injury
I wanted to believe my prediction wasn’t faulty
I wanted to think that one man couldn’t change the trajectory of such an amazing and successful season
But deep down I knew this team might be in trouble
This realization came to me after MSU’s 2-1 loss to No
It was the moment my hope for a national championship was drained
and the moment where I texted my editor that a story like this needed to be done.
What I saw against the Wolverines in that 2-1 loss was something that I hadn’t seen in MSU all year
and at other times they seemed emotionally out of it
With this emotional seesaw also came clear inconsistencies on both sides of the puck
like a lackadaisical offense which accounted for 33 penalty minutes and a not so aggressive defense
These same features were also displayed in MSU’s loss to No
and I believe that key to be Savage.
both times that they suffered a loss they’ve been able to administer a dominant rebound
and if MSU continues these inconsistencies
then it might just be an early exit for the green and white.
the wheels on the wagon are beginning to fall off
and the Spartans have now lost three out of their last six. It’s simple: to beat the great
and I've watched enough of them to grasp the wonders they’ve instilled in the rink
Nightingale and the Spartans hoist the national championship trophy while my colleagues laugh at me for writing this column
But I fear that will not happen.
With the NCAA tournament only a month away
the Spartans still have time to figure out their inconsistencies without their leader
the final stretch of its season must be defined by grit
expect an unfortunate repeat of last year's tournament result.

Deep Silver’s fast-paced sci-fi shooter Metal Eden was originally planned for this week
It’s a pretty busy week for new releases regardless
with handful of tactical RPGs and RPG-inspired games due
Would you believe a big-name release is actually launching on a UK bank holiday
Revenge of the Savage Planet is out today (Monday)
Self-published by developer Raccoon Logic themselves
it switches the camera from first-person to third-person
you’ll be exploring colourful planets while battling wildlife
scanning your surroundings ala Metroid Prime
It sounds like it has a lot more to offer than 2020’s Journey to the Savage Planet
which sees a lone fox and their raven companion attempt to return home while lost in an ancient world
and new abilities are gained throughout the journey
Secret Mode’s far flung sci-fi adventure RPG Empyreal – with three different weapon archetypes
each offering a different play style – and The Midnight Walk
a dark and twisted stop motion style adventure from the minds behind Lost in Random
Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Little Kitty, Big City also come to PS5 this week. We weren’t too enthusiastic about Little Kitty
Big City when it made its Xbox debut exactly a year ago
finding it a little bit short and largely unsubstantial
This seafaring action adventure was originally due on Xbox 360
only to be delayed after it faced legal issues
its development can be traced all the way back to 2003 and the original Xbox
Being sceptical about how it’ll play in 2025 is perfectly understandable
We can also expect the character swapping pixel art platformer Wings of Endless
sparkly arcade-style avoid’em up Fireball 2
eastasiasoft’s auto-shooter Submarine Survivor
and a console release of the mobile point ‘n clicker The Abandoned Planet
Simulator fans can also get shaken and stirred in Bartender Hustle
Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (PS5)

Restauranteur Keith McNally made headlines in 2022 when he publicly lambasted the ‘Gavin & Stacey’ star over his alleged bad behaviour in his restaurants
I would like to be emailed about offers, events and updates from The Independent. Read our Privacy notice
In 2022, Corden was forced to publicly apologise on his US chat show after the notoriously blunt McNally – the man behind legendary New York restaurants including Balthazar and Pastis – lambasted his behaviour towards his staff
McNally claimed that Corden was “extremely nasty” to one manager
and on a second occasion screamed at a member of staff: “you can’t do your job
Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself!” McNally used the post to announce that Corden had been banned from the restaurant
Speaking to The Telegraph
McNally said that Corden “texted many times asking me to take [the post] down”
with McNally agreeing to remove it if Corden admitted to his behaviour
He added: “I enjoyed the power I had over him too much.”
While Corden did hold his hands up to being poorly behaved at Balthazar
McNally’s Instagram post is still online nearly three years later
In 2022, Corden initially dismissed McNally’s post
telling The New York Times that barely anyone was aware of the allegations about his behaviour
on any level … I feel so Zen about the whole thing
Corden opened an episode of his chat show by admitting that he’d made a mistake
I didn’t call anyone names or use derogatory language
I’ve been walking around thinking that I haven’t done anything wrong,” he said
it was ungracious to the server.” He also vowed to apologise in person to the staff affected
McNally said that no famous person had been rude to his staff since the Corden saga
and named Woody Allen as the most “consistently charming” person to dine at his restaurants
McNally also invokes Corden in his new memoir, I Regret Almost Everything, claiming that the musician Patti Smith “reduced a waitress to tears” in the Seventies when he ran the New York eatery One Fifth. McNally describes Smith in the book as “the James Corden of her day”.

Legendary All Blacks winger Jeff Wilson believes that the British and Irish Lions should always win a series while landing a savage takedown of Wales
Wilson expects the Lions to be ‘well and truly prepared’ in a few months and the Wallabies will be no match for the touring outfit
Andy Farrell is set to name his squad this weekend
which many predict will largely feature Ireland stars
On recent tours under the tutelage of Warren Gatland
the Lions squad has had a plethora of Welsh players
but that is unlikely to be the case this time around
considering the team’s results since the Rugby World Cup
Former referee Nigel Owens highlighted five players that he hopes will be selected, stating that he would be ‘shocked’ if Wales captain Jac Morgan wasn’t named in the touring squad
But Wilson states that the Welshmen included will be more back-up acts to the main players
“For starters, the Lions shouldn’t lose any series because they’re four international squads,” he said on the Breakdown show
Before delivering his brutal slam on Wales: “Well
three international squads and whatever Wales can offer in terms of back-up support crew
so they should come with a stacked team every single time they come on tour
“There’s no doubt about it that they will be a beast
a beast of an organisation who will be well and truly prepared and well coached.”

The former winger predicts that the Wallabies could steal a Test but he has little faith in them winning the series as they just don’t have the tight five to match the Lions
Wilson suggests that Australia should consider the 6-2 split on the bench to boost their chances but questions if they have the depth to do so
“They could find a way to win one but for them as a tight five
numbers one through five and then 16 through 20 will need to be significant
they might explore the 6-2 bench which I think they should
to give themselves as much depth up front but this will be a beast of a squad up front and you will have to be very
I’m not sure I’m finding what they need out of a front row to compete.”
The former double New Zealand international’s remarks came after Stephen Donald boldly predicted that the Australians would win the Test series
