2014 at 12:49 am ET.css-79elbk{position:relative;}South Brunswick Police have arrested two people connected to a string of burglaries in the Brunswick Acres and Monmouth Junction areas
The suspects would break into homes off Route 27 in the majority of cases
but were also linked to a Monmouth Junction home burglary on Hillside Avenue on August 4
In all there have been nine burglaries in the impacted neighborhoods since April 1 that are believed to be connected to the suspects
Detectives arrested the two suspects - a 16-year-old Franklin teenager and 20-year-old Christopher Boston of Sayreville - over the past two weeks
The break in the case came when a South Brunswick Police evidence technician processed one of the Brunswick Acres crime scenes and recovered latent prints from a window
The prints were sent off to the New Jersey State Police Forensic Lab and a match was obtained
The investigation determined that the suspects randomly targeted homes based on opportunity
In one case the suspects observed the two residents pull out of the driveway and went around the rear of the home and broke in
The items stolen from the homes ranged from jewelry and silver flatware to an Xbox console
Boston was charged with burglary and is lodged on $50,000 bail at Somerset County Correction Center where is awaiting other charges
The juvenile was released to his parents pending his first court appearance
Chief Raymond Hayducka credited detailed crime scene processing and persistence by investigators with solving these crimes
“These arrests are the result of a team effort
from our crime scene processing officers to detailed interviews by detectives,” said Chief Hayducka
Police believe that additional suspects participated in the burglaries and are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Dennis Yuhas or Detective Roger Tuohy at (732) 329-4000 ext. 7496
