More than a thousand people rallied in Flagstaff on Thursday as part of nationwide May Day protests against the Trump administration and in support of labor
Pam Bettis drove from her home in Prescott to attend
She says she’s furious to see the administration deport legal residents and
anyone can come and grab you in your home and they don't have to give a reason
And that seems to be what's happening," Bettis says
Bettis says she will continue protesting no matter the location
Other protesters held aloft a large puppet of the Statue of Liberty
Flagstaff resident Marcus Ford helped build the puppet
"I think there’s been a tendency to let the political right have the flag and the eagle and the Statue of Liberty and everything that represents America
These symbols belong to all of us," Ford says
"We think the Statue of Liberty stands for justice for all and due process of law
so that's the perfect symbol for this kind of demonstration."
organizers say nearly 450 people marched along State Route 89A Thursday morning
More than two dozen demonstrations were held across Arizona and nearly a thousand nationwide on what is known globally as International Workers Day
TCU center Sedona Prince reacts on the bench during the second half against Texas in the Elite Eight of the NCAA college basketball tournament
College basketball player Sedona Prince leaves federal court during a hearing for a landmark $2.8 billion settlement impacting NCAA college athletics on Monday
Sedona Prince has gotten a lot of attention for her social media posts
drawing attention to gender equity questions at the NCAA Tournament in 2021
and her status as a lead plaintiff in a landmark antitrust lawsuit standing up for college athletes
As a potential draft pick during the draft by analysts
She first hit the spotlight with her viral video back in the NCAA Tournament bubble in 2021
The 24-year-old Prince denied all of the allegations made against her through her attorney and said that she has never “abused anyone in her life
The 6-foot-7 center earned honorable mention AP All-America honors
But Prince was not among the 16 prospects invited to attend Monday night’s draft at The Shed
The question now is does she get invited by a WNBA team for a tryout or is playing overseas her best option
averaged 17.2 points a game this season and started all 58 games played at TCU
She started 86 of 108 games played over five seasons
and the seventh-year senior sits in a chair and reflects on the challenges she's overcome
It's unreal how much strength God has given me and what I've been able to overcome."
She doesn't mention the most immediate threat to her basketball career: At least four women have publicly accused Prince of sexual assault or intimate partner violence over the past several months
Prince unequivocally denied all the allegations in a social-media post in August
"Sedona has not been charged with a crime or found guilty of any wrongdoing," he wrote in a statement to ESPN
"Rather she has been convicted on social media by people who have attempted to use their relationship with Sedona to attract followers and to build their influencer careers and settle grudges
To the extent she has made any mistakes different from other young people in their early dating life it was solely the decision to be on TikTok."
general managers are facing an unprecedented conundrum when it comes to Prince
Never before has a draft prospect come knocking on the WNBA's door with such a complicated set of circumstances
taller than all but six players in the WNBA
she's a deterrent to any opposing player who ventures into the lane
• Prince crashed out in her final college game
scoring four points before fouling out with 6:32 left and her team trailing Texas by 10
• Prince played four years of high-level Division I basketball
9.4 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in her final season and was an All-Big 12 center
• Prince turns 25 four days before the 2025 season tips off. She would be the oldest player drafted into the WNBA since 2023, when Okako Adika (New York Liberty) was chosen at age 26
• Prince is an outspoken and impactful advocate for gender equity
• Prince faced backlash from fans -- including a petition for her dismissal from TCU -- after the accusations of sexual assault and intimate partner violence were made public
• Prince has never been charged with a crime
The clock is ticking on the WNBA GMs who have to figure out how to balance the good with the bad
"I am unclear on why this is even a question," one GM said
Said another: "I'd say the chips are stacked against her."
Prince starred at Liberty Hill in Texas and became one of the most sought-after recruits in the country. AP Photo/Eric GayTHE FIRST SIGNS of the talent that tempts WNBA GMs today had already emerged by the time Prince got to high school
She excelled at basketball and played with a number of the same players from elementary school through high school
"We spent so much time with each other all those years," one former teammate said
"We practiced every day after school together."
Prince committed to the University of Texas prior to her freshman year at Faith Academy
she transferred to Liberty Hill High School
Three of her Liberty Hill teammates said they feared retribution and agreed to speak to ESPN on the condition of anonymity
All three said they haven't stayed in touch with Prince
and they remember her as a difficult person
"It should have been the best time of our lives," a former Liberty Hill player said
"But it was just constantly walking on eggshells and stressful
somebody was going to get something in retaliation."
Prince has said she was bullied by classmates and teammates everywhere she went
"I was with these people that I felt like hated me," she said to The Daily Texan in 2018
"They made me feel horrible about myself."
LEAVING HIGH SCHOOL didn't exactly provide a fresh start for Prince
She suffered a horrific injury shortly after graduation that almost prevented a single GM from ever considering her draft value
In an early-round game in Mexico with the U18 U.S
Her foot came down awkwardly on an opponent's shoe
Louisville coach Jeff Walz led that USA Basketball team and ran to Prince
Prince returned to the United States and had surgery at St
David's South Austin Medical Center on Aug
She previously spoke to ESPN about the series of events that she said occurred and had her ultimately leave the Longhorns
She said the Texas training staff rushed her back to weight-bearing exercises earlier than was recommended
She said she experienced pain and swelling as she was pushed to do more
She was diagnosed with a hypertrophic nonunion in early 2019
and needed a second surgery to repair the bones that hadn't healed properly
she said it was discovered that she had an infection
The antibiotics prescribed negatively affected her kidneys, she said. Two weeks after the surgery, she said she felt ill. The basketball team was out of town playing against Baylor
where medical professionals said the toxicity levels in her kidneys were high
She was admitted and stayed in the hospital for a few days to recover
Prince's family ended up shouldering thousands of dollars of out-of-pocket medical expenses
the University of Texas cited patient and student privacy laws and declined to comment
The Princes consulted with attorneys about filing a lawsuit but opted not to pursue one
very difficult year for me as a young woman
as a young player to be thinking I was a part of a family and to be treated in the way that I was," Prince said before facing Texas in the 2025 Elite Eight
"So I held a lot in my heart and my soul that I didn't know I was carrying around for a long time."
Prince was preparing to make her first NCAA tournament appearance after sitting out the previous two seasons
the NCAA was hosting the women's tournament in San Antonio and the men's tournament in Indianapolis
Prince posted a video of her view to TikTok
pointing the camera at a small dumbbell tree in a large and mostly empty San Antonio room
"Let me show y'all the men's weight room," she said
showing footage of weight racks as far as the eye could see in an Indianapolis facility
The video exposed the differences in amenities and opportunities and launched an open discussion about the inequities between men's and women's basketball
The video has been viewed over 12.4 million times on TikTok alone
the NCAA commissioned the law firm Kaplan Hecker & Fink to review gender equity within the NCAA championships
Kaplan's report documented for the public the litany of ways women's basketball was held back by the very entity that organized the championships
the women's tournament might still not be called March Madness
It might still not have expanded to 68 teams
conferences received money for advancing in the women's tournament
just as has been the case for the men's tournament for decades
The popularity of the weight room video launched Prince into a new arena
"She had a lot on her plate," Oregon coach Kelly Graves told ESPN on March 5
"And so I'm not sure that Oregon basketball was No
She just got pulled in a million directions
Prince spent two seasons at Oregon before resuming her NCAA career at TCU. Chris Pietsch/The Register-Guard/ImagnPrince played in 19 games during her first season in Oregon in 2020-21, including the Ducks' Sweet 16 matchup against future teammate Hailey Van Lith and Louisville
Prince had begun advocating for better conditions for college athletes even before posting the weight room video
she joined one of the antitrust lawsuits against the NCAA as a named plaintiff
The settlement for those cases grants current and former NCAA Division I athletes (back to 2016) $2.8 billion in damages over 10 years as well as the establishment of a revenue-sharing agreement that allows schools to share up to $20.5 million with their athletes
Although she was playing well and advocating for change she knew was important
she announced that she needed surgery on her dislocated right elbow and that her NCAA career was over
She moved to San Diego planning to prepare for the 2023 WNBA draft
who coached Prince as an assistant at Oregon
accepted the head coaching position at TCU
Prince withdrew from the draft and moved to Fort Worth to play for Campbell at TCU
hadn't touched a basketball," she told ESPN last month
I had no idea what I was going to do with my life
Coming here was this second chance to revive my career
provide my mental health with purpose again and revamp my childhood dreams."
Prince averaged 19.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.9 blocks in her first season at TCU. She broke her finger playing against Baylor in January and was out for two months following surgery. The Horned Frogs, who were so decimated by injuries that they held open tryouts so they could field a team
When TCU lost to Oklahoma in the Big 12 tournament
Prince was prepared to accept the end of her NCAA career
But the NCAA granted her a hardship waiver
she announced that she would return to TCU for one more season
"It was an immediate knowing in my chest and my soul and every cell of my being," she said in March
"This has been God guiding me along this crazy journey."
multiple women have made allegations of intimate partner violence or sexual assault
none of which has resulted in charges and all of which Prince has denied
online content creator Olivia Stabile posted a 10-part video series on TikTok alleging that Prince had pushed her off an ATV and hit her while the couple was on a trip to Tulum
she and Prince went to Mexico last May to celebrate Prince's birthday
drove the ATV off the main road into the unlit wilderness surrounding Tulum
Stabile said she asked Prince multiple times to turn around
and throws me on the gravel," Stabile told ESPN
Prince punched her in the chest and pushed her to the ground
call the police,' to every worker that I see
Stabile said she later returned to her room with security
Stabile said she never filed a police report and she flew home the next day
denied that the ATV incident occurred as described by Stabile
stating that the couple was in two separate accidents in which both were injured
He also denied that Prince ever abused Stabile physically
"At no time did Sedona grab Liv and throw her to the ground," Almanza said in his written statement to ESPN
Text messages provided by Prince's attorney and reviewed by ESPN showed continued romantic interactions between Prince and Stabile for weeks after the trip to Tulum
described Prince as "manipulative" to ESPN a few weeks before Stabile's interview
LeGlue said she started dating Prince shortly before Prince posted her historic weight room video in March 2021
LeGlue said Prince "would degrade and belittle the absolute life" out of her
and that Prince's verbal attacks turned physical one time
Prince grabbed her tightly by the wrists and threw her onto the bed
she never hit me or anything," LeGlue said
LeGlue said she never reported the incident to police
"I would describe myself as being sunshine in human form
And I wish I could go back in time to before she stole all that from me."
she was in a very public relationship with Rylee
they occasionally fought verbally but no more than a lot of young people do in new relationships." Almanza said in a written statement
"At no time did Sedona abuse Rylee emotionally or mentally
As Stabile and LeGlue began speaking publicly about their relationships with Prince
Jimmie said she went on a date to paint in a park with Prince that summer
Jimmie told ESPN she had decided that she wasn't interested in moving forward romantically with Prince
But when she tried to leave the car after saying goodbye
"I didn't take you out for nothing," before pushing Jimmie into the back seat
Prince forced her fingers into Jimmie's pants and inside of her without Jimmie's consent
"Aylssa was a consensual partner in every aspect of their date and Sedona did not sexually assault Aylssa," Almanza wrote in a statement
Jimmie told ESPN she did not file a police report: "I just didn't have a lot of faith in the system that it would be worth all of that for me," Jimmie said
"I was also not as mentally strong as I am now."
As first reported by The Washington Post
a lawsuit was filed against Prince in September 2024 by a Jane Doe in a district court in Travis County
was withdrawn by the plaintiff a few months later
Prince grabbed Doe and forcibly kissed her
took her hand and inserted it into Prince's pants
"Plaintiff was compelled to penetrate Defendant's vagina," the lawsuit states
Almanza said the accusations in the lawsuit are "demonstrably false." Multiple calls by ESPN to the plaintiff's attorney were not returned
"If the lawsuit is refiled Sedona will aggressively defend the lawsuit
as the claims are frivolous and nothing more than an attempt to capitalize on Sedona's success and future," Almanza wrote
Sedona Prince and coach Mark Campbell went a combined 55-16 together in two seasons at TCU. Carmen Mandato/Getty ImagesIN AUGUST, A PETITION was posted on Change.org seeking Prince's dismissal from the TCU basketball team
Prince denied the allegations against her in a video posted on TikTok
That's not who I am." Prince also said her family had received death threats
she scored 29 points in the first game of her second season at TCU
separately filed reports with police alleging intimate partner violence
Prince and the other woman described a physical altercation to Fort Worth Detective Kyle Harris
each alleging the other was the primary aggressor
"The only evidence consistent with both accounts is that there was a physical altercation
and both parties sustained minimal injury." He also documented that "both parties were insistent that they did not wish to pursue criminal charges against the other." No charges were filed
"The university is aware of the allegations involving one of our student-athletes and is looking into the matter," TCU said in a statement in February
the university does not comment on student conduct matters."
In a game at Kansas State in February
Prince was booed whenever she touched the ball
She was a unanimous All-Big 12 first-team selection
It was unequivocally her best season on the court
"Sedona has grown a lot," TCU guard Madison Conner said to ESPN in March
"I've seen her mature a lot on and off the court
just handling her business in the way that she needs to and not caring about what other people have to say
I think that's why she's succeeding so much this year."
But the season ended with that poor performance against Texas just two weeks prior to the WNBA draft
When Prince walked off the court in Birmingham
patrons at an Austin women's sports bar whooped and cheered
It was a Texas-friendly crowd (it is Austin)
so any TCU player fouling out would have garnered some cheers
but this celebration seemed different to the woman who posted a video on X
"It was an interesting moment to me to see the crowd react all in the same way and turn from support of the Texas team to disdain for her," said Megan
who requested that only her first name be used for this story
"I think it's disappointing that she's been allowed to play."
calling her a "superstar" and complimenting her growth as a player
saying "it's as much as any person I've ever been around in the college game."
40-second phone interview with ESPN on April 3
he abruptly ended the call when he was asked about Prince's coachability and how she arrived at TCU
"I would rather be off the record right now
He declined a request for a follow-up interview five days later
played against her former team for the first -- and only -- time in the 2025 Elite Eight. Sara Diggins/American-Statesman/USA TODAYWILL PRINCE BE drafted Monday
ESPN spoke with representatives from seven WNBA franchises
and several expressed confidence that she will go at some point
Prince will not attend the draft in New York
how many 6-7 players are there?" one GM said
"How many 6-5-plus players are there that can shoot in the midrange
Prince sometimes plays smaller than her frame
She often avoids contact rather than finishing through it
Prince draws plenty of fouls and makes her free throws
but she is not a top-tier offensive prospect in a physical league that often stretches the floor with bigs who can shoot from deep
"I think there's a big difference between the players she can
"When you go up against real size and athleticism
she's not going to be able to get to her spots
A third GM also noted that Prince was much older and had more experience than most of her NCAA opponents
"She's like a 24-year-old playing against what
or are you just dominating people that are
Prince struggled to stay on the floor all through college; that's partly why she's been in school for seven years
The charges stemmed from a domestic violence incident
Williams was later indefinitely suspended by the Aces in July 2023 after being arrested for domestic violence
The WNBA and WNBPA have a domestic violence and intimate partner violence policy that has investigative authority over WNBA players
the CBA has a clause stating a contract can be terminated if a player "at any time fails
refuses or neglects to conform her personal conduct to standards of good citizenship
and good sportsmanship." But a potential draft pick coming into the WNBA with public allegations is new territory
Prince teamed up with Hailey Van Lith during the 2024-25 season
and now both are hoping to be part of the 2025 WNBA draft class. Sarah Stier/Getty Images"She is one of the top 38 players who have made themselves available for this draft
If the [concern] is because of the allegations
'Has that ever kept a men's player from being eligible to be drafted into a sport?'" a GM said
"There are countless instances of allegations against male athletes
and their ability to be employed is largely unaffected."
"You want to be fair about it and don't want to necessarily hold it against her," another said
you also have to be cautious and do your due diligence."
Winston and Mixon continue to play in the NFL
"I can just speak for [my team]," another WNBA GM said when asked about the possibility of drafting Prince
but I think that everybody's at a different spot
there's a risk associated and that's not a risk on someone's character that we'd take."
The conundrum isn't a conundrum at all for another GM
Prince left college as a major player in a lawsuit that reached a $2.8 billion settlement for NCAA Division I athletes. AP Photo/Noah BergerBACK IN THE Birmingham locker room
Prince has finally freed her leg of its tape
Still wearing her purple TCU uniform and purple tights
she leans back in her chair and considers a reporter's question about what she would change in her college career
She reflects on the bullying as a kid and the medical care she received at Texas
She recalls how those things made her feel undeserving of support and attention
She says she wishes she hadn't believed the people who made her feel that way
She wishes she had prioritized healing her injuries and taking better care of herself
"The one thing I would change is to talk to my younger self and be like

Set in Arizona’s desert wilderness yet thriving with arts and culture
Sedona continuously draws travelers thanks to its majestic red rocks
plentiful outdoor activities and mild climate
As Forbes Vetted’s senior travel editor—and an avid traveller
myself—I selected the best hotels in Sedona that reflect the area’s outstanding natural beauty
Pool at Enchantment Resort in Sedona, Arizona.
Vista Cottage bahroom at L'Auberge de Sedona.
Guest room at Ambiente Hotel in Sedona, Arizona.
Spa Lounge at Mii Amo in Sedona, Arizona.
Wilde Haven Spa at The Wilde Resort and Spa in Sedona, Arizona.
Pool area at Hilton Sedona Resort At Bell Rock.
Saltrock Southwest Kitchen at Amara Resort and Spa in Sedona, Arizona.
Terrace with infinity pool at Sundance
the property has earned a 4.99 rating on the platform along with the distinction of being a guest favorite—and it’s not hard to see why
Set on two private acres of land that feels quiet and serene
three-and-a-half-bath home sleeps up to six people and is tailor-made for spending time soaking up the sun with friends or loved ones
An outdoor terrace offers a retractable awning
heat lamps and a fireplace—not to mention a jetted hot tub and a resort-style infinity pool
The property is also near trails and shopping
and conveniently features its own infrared sauna
the perfect spot to relax sore muscles after a challenging hike
Sedona is filled with exhilarating activities that can be enjoyed solo
Here are a few standout experiences you can book to make the most out of your time in the area
The Forbes Vetted travel team has researched, written and published dozens of hotel guides featuring cities worldwide
My name is Astrid Taran and I’m the senior travel editor at Forbes Vetted
I have covered travel for almost a full decade as both a writer and editor
Along with extensively writing about hotels and airlines
I have also written multiple destination guides as well as long-form features on luxury travel
Sedona is one of my favorite destinations in the country
and I have visited multiple times over the years for hikes
rock climbing and delicious Southwestern cuisine
I selected the top contenders based on personal stays as well as extensive research
Springtime is the best time of year to go to Sedona; the months of March
April and May offer comfortable temperatures and blooming wildflowers
It’s a great time to enjoy outdoor excursions
from scenic hikes to horseback riding to ATV tours
but keep in mind that this season is also the busiest
make sure to book your accommodations in advance
This area is Sedona’s central hub and lined with shops
It’s walkable and there are shuttle buses available as well
which is slightly north of Uptown and a bit quieter
Many of the hotels on our list accommodate pets
and the area offers hundreds of miles of trails that allow on-leash dogs
Just make sure to keep plenty of water on hand
Be one of the first to try our new activity feed
Even after living in northern Arizona for 15 years
Here’s my advice on when to visit to avoid the crowds
I first laid eyes on Sedona after surviving a sleepless night of food poisoning in nearby Flagstaff
Thank goodness I’d never driven the Oak Creek Canyon before
No one who hurls their guts up the previous night would knowingly agree to ride in a 12-passenger van hugging the cliffside of this narrow two-lane road
navigating hairpin turns on switchbacks that drop more than 2,500 feet into Red Rock Country
visiting the area for an adult running camp and eager to check out this famous adventure mecca
the hour-long journey on Route 89A between the alpine forest of Flagstaff and the sandstone desert of Sedona is iconic
Now, after 15 years living in Flagstaff, that commute is one I savor. Until I relocated to Arizona, I had been a life-long East Coaster
But after visiting this slice of high desert (and subsequently moving here)
my appreciation and fondness for the Southwest’s geological diversity
and that of Sedona’s upper Sonoran Desert region has only deepened

Sedona is a playground for all kinds of people
with interests as wide-ranging as fortune telling
billed as “a sanctuary where each being can nurture their authenticity.”
But most often Sedona is my wintertime weekend trail running refuge—when the snow dumps in Flagstaff, I’m guaranteed a clear path, warmer temperatures (averaging around 60 degrees), and sunshine in the red rock valley below. I love a good “wintertime double”: a morning run, hike, or ride in Sedona wearing shorts and a t-shirt, followed by afternoon powder turns at Arizona Snowbowl back home
Few places in the world hold such a mix of outdoor activities available in one day during the doldrums of February
More than a third of Sedona’s homes have become short-term rentals, and the city government and other local agencies have become consumed with how to manage the influx of visitors—and how to infuse education on respectful public land use
originally inhabited by the Sinagua people who came here around 900 A.D
I applaud how the people who manage the city and the public land are helping its diversity of users enjoy the area in myriad ways
there are a few things every visitor should know to maximize their Sedona experience
you have to choose your time and activities carefully
I’m saying avoid spring break (most of March) at all costs
and plan your outdoor pursuits for early mornings (arrive at trailheads by 7 A.M
at the latest) year-round to dodge flocks of people
you can get started even earlier for cooler temperatures during the summer swelter
and crowded trails on the most popular routes quickly become a turnoff if you’re desperately seeking solitude in nature
Most locals won’t divulge those lesser-known destinations
In discussing places that my friends and I like to go in Sedona for a beer or a quick bite to eat or a trail run
most of them either decided against sharing at all
or their suggestions came with the caveat: “don’t tell anybody I said this
I headed to my friends’ house in Sedona for a day hike—and along the way it appeared that the rest of America had the same idea
The fight for parking at the nearby trailheads was bananas—crowds rivaling Disney World during winter break
and doing your own research to head farther afield is best
which asks visitors to agree to nine ways to help preserve Red Rock Country’s natural beauty
like not forging your own trails and packing out your trash
4 is my personal favorite: “I won’t risk life or limb (human or sapling) for more likes
It’s understandable that all of us who call tourist destinations home would want to keep a few spots to ourselves
I also recognize that none of us own these places
here are a few of my hot spots for those who are new to Sedona
Camping in Sedona takes a lot of planning ahead
mostly because I live so close by and my visits tend to be on the spontaneous side
Free dispersed camping is available in the western part of town
as do the campgrounds that require reservations
which are mostly located along Oak Creek on 89A
The options around Oak Creek are cooler during the summer
offer some of the best views of the red rocks and canyons you can find
The best way to find a spot is to visit Recreation.gov and you can also try Hipcamp
Book Sites on Hipcamp
pick one of these three options for a taste of the town’s best trails
don’t miss these three spots with stunning panoramic views
we live at a time where the deluge of information available to us all can make us jaded
When it seems like “everybody” is going to Sedona and posting every detail of their adventures
our natural instinct is to declare that this special place is overrated
a strenuous-rated hike that requires some rock scrambling and the ability to power up nearly 2,000 feet of elevation in a short 2.5 miles to earn an exhilarating view of fantastical red rock formations
The only thing that would’ve made my day more complete? A dip in the Oak Creek to cool off. A chance to swim in a natural body of water is a true treat for most Arizonans—especially me. I have plenty of fond memories of post-run cannonballs at Grasshopper Point
10 or 12 years ago when it was less visited
Nature’s ice bath is usually worth it in my book
Sedona has been dubbed the “most mystical place” in America by travel experts and spiritual visitors alike. And it might be. What I do know is that it offers one of the most valuable opportunities for renewed astonishment at the world around me. It may not be a hidden gem (spoiler alert: it never really was)
but it’s a place that offers outdoor access that’s unrivaled by most other places on the planet
Here’s my takeaway: It took 350 million years to form those red rocks

TCU’s Sedona Prince did not earn an invite to the pro league on Monday night
The move came after the 6-foot-7 center helped lead the Horned Frogs to the 2024/25 NCAA tournament's Elite Eight round
Her run spanned multiple injury-induced redshirt seasons caused by a broken leg
During Monday's ESPN broadcast, commentators noted that her age and injury record may have impacted Prince's WNBA prospects. They also directly brought up Prince's history of intimate partner violence and abuse allegations
As reported both via social media and by The Washington Post
several women have accused Prince of abuse or sexual assault
Prince's complicated collegiate campaign also includes a viral 2021 social media post calling out gender inequities within the NCAA tournament
The post ultimately ignited top-line changes across college sports
Prince could still receive an invite to any of the 13 teams' training camps
Though the decision to offer her a preseason try-out remains complicated for WNBA front offices
"You want to be fair about it and don't want to necessarily hold [the allegations] against her," one unnamed WNBA GM told ESPN’s Katie Barnes in a recent article detailing Prince’s draft prospects
Everybody has different information," another GM said

Four-time Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone maintained her 400-meter crown this weekend, completing her second straight 400-meter events sweep at the Grand Slam Track series' Miami meet on Sunday
One month after completing the sweep at the first Grand Slam meet in Kingston
the 25-year-old US track star won Saturday's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.07 seconds before also taking Sunday's 400-meter flat event in 49.69 seconds — a race that earned McLaughlin-Levrone a $100,000 winner's check
McLaughlin-Levrone has a veritable stranglehold on the 400-meter hurdles
dominating that race since her last loss at the 2019 World Championships
she blasted through six world records across 12 straight victories — lowering the women's 400-meter hurdles world standard from 52.16 seconds to a blistering 50.37-second pace
With two more Grand Slam meets in Philadelphia and LA in the coming weeks
McLaughlin-Levrone is considering a literal change of pace
temporarily switching to run the 100-meter events — a distance she hasn't competed in since 2018
and other track stars will next compete in the third Grand Slam Track meet in Philadelphia from May 30th through June 1st
before closing out the series in LA between June 27th and June 29th

English soccer club London City earned both a trophy and promotion from the UK's second-tier Women's Championship league this weekend
lifting the Michele Kang-owned Lionesses into the top-flight Women's Super League (WSL) next season
With a 2-2 draw against second-place Birmingham City in Sunday's 2024/25 season finale
London City sealed the single point they needed to claim the second-flight league title and secure their ticket to the 2025/26 WSL campaign
London City's rise is major success story for owner Michele Kang and her multi-team organization Kynisca — which also owns the NWSL's Washington Spirit and French club Lyon — as the Lionesses reach the UK's top-flight just two seasons after Kang's 2023 purchase of the club
London City will take the WSL spot of last season's promoted team
who were relegated from the top-tier league last month and currently hold a dismal 2-15-4 record
Crystal Palace's struggles to compete after leveling up are nothing new
with many promoted clubs often stumbling into relegation after a single season
with the women's sports mogul planning to see the Lionesses rise up the WSL and
"We have been building a team to be at a minimum, on day one, mid-tier WSL," Kang told the BBC
"When I first came here a lot of people were concerned for me," Kang explained
"How can an independent women's team survive if you don't have the male team that can provide the brand and resources
The 2025 PWHL playoffs are officially set, with the Ottawa Charge and Minnesota Frost punching their postseason tickets in Saturday's final regular-season games to join the first-place Montréal Victoire and second-place Toronto Sceptres in the second-year league's playoff bracket
Needing two wins in addition to two losses from either the Charge or the Boston Fleet for a chance to defend their 2024 title
Minnesota found another gear in the season's final week
The Frost first defeated Ottawa 3-0 last Wednesday before handing a crumbling Fleet side an 8-1 Saturday thrashing
leapfrogging Boston to narrowly advance to the playoffs following an up-and-down regular season
Minnesota's massive momentum grab directly affected this week's 2025 PWHL semifinals pairings
As first-place finishers, the Victoire had the opportunity to choose their first-round opponent between the third- and fourth-place finishers — with Montréal opting out of facing the Frost to instead open the playoffs against the Charge.

"This group is hungry, and we're excited for the playoffs," said Victoire captain and the 2024/25 PWHL season's top goal scorer Marie-Philip Poulin
"We're pretty excited to start the playoffs at home
Also snagging home-ice advantage is second-place Toronto
who must now overcome Minnesota in their best-of-five semifinal series to earn a spot in the 2025 Walter Cup championship series
The puck drops on the 2025 PWHL Playoffs on Wednesday
4-seed Minnesota will meet on the ice at 7 PM ET
Top-seeded Montréal's semifinal series against No
3-seed Ottawa will begin at 7 PM ET on Thursday
All games will stream live on the PWHL YouTube channel
The WNBA tipped off its preseason slate this weekend, as early contenders stole the spotlight behind massive wins
signaling potential success in the 2025 regular-season
"I haven't played in, like, 200 days, so I was a little nervous going in," Fever star and Iowa alum Caitlin Clark said after Sunday's game. "The competitive spirit in me — you just want to play really good for these fans."

LSU grad Angel Reese and former Tigers transfer Hailey Van Lith also shined on the collegiate court
returning to Baton Rouge to help the Chicago Sky defeat Brazil 89-62 on Friday
"I'm just happy to be back to see all the fans
because I know how much was put into this program."
Reese didn't skip a beat in her return from last year's season-ending wrist injury
10-rebound double-double in Friday's clash
rookie Van Lith scored her first professional points in the game
and three rebounds in her 13 minutes off the bench
"It's super surreal in terms of the turnaround from where I was two weeks ago to where I am today
but [I'm] just soaking it up and enjoying every moment," Bueckers told reporters after the game

While the results don't count, the weekend exhibition allowed coaches and viewers to evaluate fresh talent and new roster combinations ahead of the significant roster cuts that teams must make prior to the 2025 season tip-off on May 16th
The season's first big-name roster cut came from Golden State on Saturday, when the Valkyries waived guard Shyanne Sellers after taking the standout Maryland alum No
The preseason action continues this week with a trio of exhibitions on deck on Tuesday
the Minnesota Lynx will visit the Chicago Sky at 7 PM ET before the LA Sparks square off against new California rival Golden State while the Phoenix Mercury takes on Las Vegas at 10 PM ET

Mar 10, 2025Sedona riders are stoked about the opening of the area’s newest trail, Hardline. As Nate Hills tells the story in his video description, the double-black line was first envisioned by Lars Romig some 9 years ago
and in 2019 he took Hills and friends to check out the slickrock bowl that’s basically a 60-foot drop broken up by three rollers
The run has zero margin for error unless you want to meet Sedona’s first responders
Hills says he watched in shock as Romig sent the line that day, barely holding it together on the runout and changing mountain biking in Sedona in the process
Romig went on to walk the line with local Forest Service personnel
permission was granted to develop the route into an official trail
volunteers worked to improve the trail that now connects Easy Breeze and Hiline trails
and videos of Sedona’s steepest–and arguably most dangerous–trail are hitting YouTube
Red Rock MTB just dropped their 3-minute POV of Hardline as well:
Sedona is well-known for its stellar red-rock riding
but the (somewhat insane) expert crowd has long lamented its lack of truly challenging
mess-up-and-die trails beyond the Triple H (Hiline
Hills says in his video that Hardline is now the most technical trail in Sedona
and that a bench was carved into the rock to traverse across the original line that Romig rode to make it safer for the “average” expert rider
bypassing that 60-foot section if riders choose
“The original line is still there and fully rideable,” Hills says
“Please approach with the respect it deserves
The irony in all of this is that Lars works for the Sedona fire department
and Lars will be first on scene if you need rescue
"Maybe it paints it as little reckless but people always want the gnar and we delivered!" Romig told BikeMag.com. "That said it is not near as death-defying as it seems compared to the OG line."
follows his dad down the first top-to-bottom lap
“This is an amazing example of what can be accomplished when the local Mountain Bike community develops and fosters lasting relationships with land management,” Hills says
“This is the new benchmark and everyone involved has helped move the needle of what is possible in our sport
and all of the volunteers that put an amazing amount of work and passion into creating this legacy trail
and the village in Sedona has created something very special
Hills asks for anyone who enjoys Sedona’s impressive trail system to donate to the Sedona Red Rock Trail Fund
playTCU's Sedona Prince fouls out with just 4 points (0:25)Sedona Prince fouls out of the game in the fourth quarter with only four points for TCU in its Elite Eight matchup vs
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- TCU center Sedona Prince was a nonfactor on offense in the Horned Frogs' 58-47 loss to Texas in the Elite Eight on Monday
When asked about her performance after the game
Prince referred to it as a "full-circle moment" she was not expecting
Prince began her career at Texas under then-coach Karen Aston as a freshman in 2018 after breaking her leg while competing for the USA U18 national team in Mexico City
She never played for Texas after undergoing multiple surgeries and setbacks caused by infections
blaming the Texas medical staff for pushing her too quickly in her rehab
Prince eventually transferred to Oregon for four seasons before moving on to TCU in 2023
Though current Longhorns coach Vic Shaefer was not at Texas when Prince was there, playing against the Longhorns brought back memories. Monday was the first time she had played against Texas since her transfer from what she once called her "dream school." After crediting her primary defender, Taylor Jones
I think today was a very full-circle moment for me in a way that I wasn't expecting," Prince said through tears
"Just looking at the people that did so much damage to me at a young age was a lot and it was hard
and I thought that we had to win to prove it to them that they couldn't beat me
"But being a part of this program and being here and succeeding and coming back and being able to play and after being told I would never walk again
Jones made sure Prince would not beat the Longhorns
Prince made only one of her four field goal attempts before fouling out with 6:32 left
The other two points came from free throws
"I haven't got to decompress with Sedona and talk through that
but I'm sure there were a lot of emotions that were going through her head before the game and probably during," TCU coach Mark Campbell said
"I know more than anything she wanted to win not because we were playing Texas but she wanted to win because she doesn't want the journey to end with this group."
winning the Big 12 tournament and making its first trips to the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight
But Texas challenged TCU in ways the Horned Frogs could not overcome
The Longhorns held TCU to 12 field goals in the game
Hailey Van Lith
who has keyed TCU's run to the Elite Eight
was ineffective as well -- scoring 17 points on 3-of-15 shooting
Prince and her teammates cried on the podium as they talked about the season ending after accomplishing so much together
and we gave it our all and we fought together

Brooklyn Bedding has everything you need for your spring refresh, including luxury mattresses. If you've been shopping online for mattresses, you've probably come across Brooklyn Bedding. It's one of the most popular online mattress companies
and it's among my favorite bedding brands
One of the biggest factors behind that is how its beds
like the Brooklyn Bedding Signature mattress
manage to offer high-quality materials at reasonable prices
I tested the company's premium offering
The Sedona Elite stands as the brand's most premium mattress
with a notably different construction compared with its Signature and Aurora Luxe models
It's especially well-suited for those seeking something high-end with a feel that sets it apart from typical pillow-top mattresses
Read my full review below to see whether this luxury bed is worth the higher price
After initially unboxing the Sedona Elite mattress
myself and the rest of the team were immediately impressed with the look of the bed
Mattress aesthetics is not something we talk about much because how a mattress looks is much less important than how it feels and its firmness profile
and most people only see what their mattress looks like when changing their sheets -- but the Sedona Elite just looks luxurious.
Jon Gomez/CNETWhen we first started testing the mattress in earnest
the feel threw us for a bit of a loop because it was quite a bit different than other Brooklyn Bedding mattresses we had previously tested
and once I learned more about the construction elements of the Sedona Elite that made a lot more sense
My overall first impression of the Sedona Elite was very positive
but I also thought that many sleepers still might prefer the Aurora Luxe for a lower price
I think the Sedona Elite is an excellent choice.
It scores well in performance with edge support
motion isolation and temperature regulation thanks to its reinforced perimeter coils
cooling cover and the inclusion of microcoils in its construction
Microcoils are not a common mattress construction material and they have some unique characteristics we'll go through at length in this review.
along with the Sedona Elite's accommodating firmness profile
makes the mattress an excellent option for couples and singles.
Jon Gomez/CNETThe price point is higher than most beds from Brooklyn Bedding but I would describe the Sedona Elite as the most noticeably luxurious of its lineup.
The feel of the Sedona Elite is not the typical pillow top feel I usually observe from beds with a similar design like the Winkbed
the Saatva Classic and the Nolah Evolution.
More classic pillow top beds don't have a memory foam quality
but the Sedona Elite does while also being highly responsive
Traditional memory foam beds like Tempur-Pedic have low responsiveness
which means the foam will take a significant amount of time to snap back into its original shape
Some sleepers really enjoy this because it can deter frequent tossing and turning at night
but others dislike it because it makes them feel "stuck" in the mattress
you will get the body-conforming quality of a memory foam mattress but without the "stuck" feeling that some sleepers report on classic memory foam
so it is almost like getting the best of both worlds
I think the majority of people who try the Sedona Elite will find it to be very comfortable and accommodating
although I think the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe would be a "safer" choice in terms of feel because it doesn't feel like memory foam at all.
Jon Gomez/CNETSedona Elite Hybrid firmnessUnlike many other mattresses from Brooklyn Bedding like the Aurora Luxe and the Signature
the Sedona Elite only comes in one firmness profile and in our testing we found it to be a flat medium on our firmness scale
which is also what Brooklyn Bedding says it is.
A medium firmness profile like this works for all sleeping positions pretty equally and is ideal for combination sleepers who might spend part of the night on their side and then switch to their back and for couples who may have different firmness preferences and want something they can agree on.
A medium firmness isn't necessarily the ideal option for any one specific sleeping position -- people who sleep exclusively on their back will likely want something firmer than a medium
and some strict side sleepers may prefer something softer
but most people either really enjoy a medium firmness profile or can at least get by on it.
The construction of the Sedona Elite begins with a thin layer of dense support foam to provide a stable base for the main support layer
an eight-inch-thick layer of pocketed coils.
I was actually able to take a tour of the 3Z Brands mattress factory
A steel wire gets fed into a machine that forms it into coils and then gets wrapped in fabric
Pocketed coils provide the same level of bounce and support as old innerspring chassis while being much better at isolating cross-mattress motion
Above the coil layer is a thin layer of responsive foam that functions as a transition layer
Most mattresses we test have a foam layer between the main comfort layer(s) and the support layer
whether the support layer is foam or coils.
microcoils behave similarly to memory foam in terms of body conforming feel but are also very responsive.
Right above the microcoil layer is a layer of actual memory foam and the two layers together
along with the support coils and transition foam add up to give the Sedona Elite that unique
The edge support of a mattress refers to how well the perimeter of the bed holds up under pressure
if you end up sleeping near the perimeter it can feel like you are going to roll off the mattress and negatively impact your sleep
Wesley Ott/CNETFortunately the edge support on the Sedona Elite is excellent
I think the coils on the perimeter are reinforced with extra thick gauge wire so if you happen to sleep on the edge of the mattress it should not impact your sleep which is great news for couples
Motion isolation is another factor important for couples because a bed with poor motion isolation can wake you up if your partner tosses and turns throughout the night
we found the Sedona Elite to be one of the best performing hybrid mattresses at isolating cross-mattress motion
due to the memory foam and microcoil layers
do an excellent job at isolation motion and with the memory foam layer on top the Sedona Elite should work well for light sleepers who wake up easily
the Sedona Elite has a cool to the touch cover that helps hot sleepers sleep cool throughout the night
I think the Aurora Luxe has a stronger cooling factor -- but the Sedona's is definitely noticeable
One of my teammates slept on the Sedona Elite for several months and he thought the bed slept cool
although he didn't like the texture of the cover.
Jon Gomez/CNETCooling covers like these have a somewhat slick texture
The Sedona Elite is the most expensive mattress from Brooklyn Bedding that you can buy online
there is a different version of the Sedona that is only available at brick and mortar stores in Phoenix because it is too heavy to ship in a box
The Sedona Elite is on par with other quality hybrid beds like the Purple Restore Hybrid and the Leesa Legend Chill and it is usually discounted a significant amount throughout the year.
According to a recent CNET survey
US adults are willing to invest in better sleep
with the average adult prepared to spend nearly $1,000 annually to improve their sleep quality
46% of respondents said that they're willing to invest in better mattresses and bedding
This consumer mindset aligns well with premium options like the Sedona Elite
which are a substantial investment in sleep quality that you may find worthwhile despite the higher price point
Make sure to look at our mattress deals page to see the latest deals on Brooklyn Bedding or any other bed you might be interested in
this will ship right to your door at no extra cost inside of a large box (as long as you live in the contiguous United States)
but there will be an additional cost involved depending on where you live.
Unboxing a mattress usually only takes a few minutes
and we recommend unboxing it with a friend to make the process go more smoothly
All Brooklyn Bedding mattresses come with a slightly longer than average trial period of 120 nights in comparison to the usual standard of 100 nights
So you have roughly four months to sleep on it at home to determine if you like the mattress and if it suits your needs
Keep in mind that it can take a month or longer for your body to adjust to a new mattress
no matter how well-suited it is to your sleeping preferences
The trial period begins the day the mattress is delivered
not when you actually start sleeping on it
Within the 120-night trial period, you can return the Sedona Elite mattress and get a refund. There is no upfront fee to initiate a return; however, they will deduct $99 from your refund, which helps facilitate the mattress pickup process.
Brooklyn Bedding will ask you to sleep on the bed for at least 30 nights before initiating a return because no matter how nice and well-suited your new mattress is to your sleep type
your body needs a bit of time to adjust to it
All Brooklyn Bedding mattresses are backed by a standard 10-year warranty
This is the minimum duration of warranty you should expect for almost every mattress.
The Legend Chill mattress from Leesa and the Sedona Elite are very similar. Both feature cooling covers, both are the most luxurious beds from the respective brands, both are a medium on the firmness scale, both are similarly priced after discount and both feature a layer of microcoils as a comfort layer.
The biggest difference between the two comes down to feel -- because the Sedona Elite features a layer of memory foam on top of microcoils, it has more of a memory foam feel, while the Legend Chill only has the micro coils and not memory foam so it has more of a pillow top feel with less body-conforming qualities.
Sedona Elite vs. Layla HybridThe Layla Hybrid is one of our favorite memory foam beds with coils because of its flippable design. Most mattresses these days are only designed to be slept on a single side, while the Layla Hybrid has a soft side and firm side, so you are really getting two firmness profiles in one bed.
The soft side is around a medium-soft on our scale which means it is very plush and provides a ton of pressure relief for side sleepers, and the firm side is slightly firmer than a medium and is generally accommodating for most sleepers. The Layla Hybrid also has a similar feel to the Sedona Hybrid -- which is a responsive memory foam.
The Layla Hybrid is also quite a bit more affordable than the Sedona Elite, but the Sedona Elite performs better in edge support and temperature regulation.
Final thoughts on the Brooklyn Bedding Sedona Elite mattressI think the Sedona Elite fills an interesting niche in the online mattress space by being a luxurious hybrid with a memory foam type of feel
Most luxury mattresses with a pillow top design have a very similar feel to one another
but the Sedona Elite is something different
Fans of memory foam should really enjoy the feel of the mattress
and it performs well in many of our testing categories like edge support
motion isolation and temperature regulation
I think this is an excellent mattress with a unique design
Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe: This is our top rated mattress from Brooklyn Bedding because of its accommodating feel
strong cooling factor and its multiple firmness options
It also has an optional "cloud pillow top" which adds even more comfort foam for slightly more cost.
I think for many sleepers the Aurora Luxe will be a more compelling option because it has a mattress feel that is more "safe" than the Sedona Elite and it comes in more firmness options for people looking for a firm mattress or a plush mattress.
Brooklyn Bedding Signature: This is one of the best values in online mattresses and is a bed I recommend to any shopping on a budget
It is much more similar to the Aurora Luxe than the Sedona Elite because it uses the same types of comfort foams
and it comes in three different firmness profiles.
You can also spend up to get the Signature with a "cooling cloud pillow top," which adds comfort foam and a cool-to-the-touch cover
All of the foams used in this bed are Certa-PUR US certified which means it's free of ozone-depleting chemicals and other chemicals like formaldehyde
if you decide to return a Plank mattress within the 120 night trial period will be $99 deducted from your refund.
This mattress features a cool to the touch cover that will aid in regulating your sleeping temperature
Sedona Prince was one of the most talked-about names during the 2025 WNBA Draft
but not for the same reasons as other players
made an impact during the 2025 women’s NCAA tournament and helped the Horned Frogs reach their first Elite Eight appearance
The All-Big 12 player averaged 17.2 points
9.4 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in her final season
Her extensive college experience and height made her a prospect for the WNBA
but her name was not one of the 38 names called on April 14
Here is what you need to know about Prince
a TCU student reported that Prince assaulted her and that Prince asked her to sign a non-disclosure agreement
Prince went to the police as well to report she had been assaulted and that she suffered a black eye
A sexual misconduct lawsuit involving Prince from 2019 was dismissed
As a result, a petition was filed calling for her removal from the TCU team, which garnered more than 200,000 signatures
Prince has had various injuries while in college
While at Texas, Prince suffered a broken right leg that required two surgeries. Prince suffered a major elbow injury at Oregon that caused her to not play in the 2022-23 season. At the time, Prince said she would not continue her college career due to the torn ligament
she was sidelined in the 2023-24 season with a broken finger
The 24-year-old was one of the oldest players in March Madness and played six years in college
where she sat out the 2019-20 season before playing two seasons for the Ducks
there were a total of 38 selected players who saw their dreams become a reality
One player who did not hear her name called was TCU's All-Big 12 center Sedona Prince. Before the draft, Bleacher Report's Rachel Galligan ranked her as the No
citing her ability to utilize her size at 6-foot-7 to be disruptive on defense while being effective on offense
assault accusations from four women deterred teams from selecting Prince
Prince took to social media in the days after with an Instagram story showing her dunking in a workout
Prince wrote "not too shabby" while a voice in the background
it is unclear if Prince will be given an opportunity by an WNBA team
but she has maintained throughout the process that she has never abused anyone in any way.
"I've never abused anybody emotionally, physically, mentally, verbally," Prince said in a statement via ESPN

Amid the allegations, a petition to have her dismissed by the TCU basketball team was started by fans and received over 200,000 signatures
released a statement to ESPN earlier in the week
"Sedona has not been charged with a crime or found guilty of any wrongdoing," he told ESPN
"Rather she has been convicted on social media by people who have attempted to use their relationship with Sedona to attract followers and to build their influencer careers and settle grudges
To the extent she has made any mistakes different from other young people in their early dating life it was solely the decision to be on TikTok."
Only time will tell if Prince is given a chance with the WNBA's preseason set to begin on May 2

You all know Bear Howard loves meeting tourists
but let’s be honest—getting to my favorite drinking spots early in the evening during tourist season is essential
If you arrive before five and snag a parking spot
congratulations—you’ve hit the jackpot
and I call it “Sedona Musical Chairs!” When we visit our local restaurants and bars
I can’t help but notice two distinct types of drinkers: the bar stool folks—the talkers and storytellers—and the table munchers
who are much more focused on their food and occasional small talk
my wife and I secured our favorite bar stools
and the bartender delivered our regular drinks
What better way to unwind after a long workday
Dining at the bar has its perks: we don’t need to chat with each other—we have fellow drinkers on either side to entertain us
but we’ve covered almost every topic under the sun
we do have boundaries: family matters and work gossip are strictly off-limits
Is there any affordable housing or apartments in Sedona?”
you had to either be the second person hired by Steve Jobs at early Apple or belong to the ‘lucky sperm club.’ (That’s the folks who inherited a pot of gold
were sent to the right preparatory schools
“Or maybe they recently sold a 2,000-square-foot
three-bedroom house in California for a cool $3 million and brought their “unearned” wealth with them
Some locals retired from big corporations with hefty pensions
and others built their own fortunes through entrepreneurship
Being in the right place at the right time often feels like a lucky draw in life—not the result of sheer initiative or “bootstrapping.” We don’t get to choose our parents or how we were raised.”
“but Sedona is a very costly place to buy a home.”
The town boasts no Bitcoin millionaires—just some fortunate aging Boomers who think they earned their way to Sedona.”
Most of us are just lucky post-WWII babies
No one knows where young professionals like firefighters
They seem to emerge from a mythical place west of Sedona
where legend has it there’s even a Walmart
some of these workers are lucky too and bought homes before prices doubled or tripled in value
Locals firmly believe you have to earn your way to homeownership in Sedona
Locals won’t allow those because they might attract ‘those kinds of people’—undesirables like teachers
state-funded program for local workers living in their cars or motorhomes to park overnight
The temporary project was meant to provide a safe place to sleep until affordable housing became available
you can’t outwardly help people under the guise of helping them!”
Many old-timers and workers were forced out years ago by AirBnB conversions into for-profit homes and hotel rooms
who made good money while inadvertently destroying cohesive neighborhoods—except in gated
“Sedona is unofficially a 55+ community with no kids,” I said
“And there are plenty of residents who hate tourists so much they’d be happy if Sedona became Sun City North.”
“Is that a local ordinance?” the tourist at the bar asked
“It’s just that most residents are well past their breeding years
We’ve become a town dominated by residents with no kids.”
and we wrapped up my chat with the young couple by saying
but it carries an air of entitled self-importance.”
“Those red rocks you love and think are sacred or magical are
I have been around long enough when the Sedona mentality at the time didnt want ADUs
So they controlled how many the city would allow.
We didnt allow short term rentals in city limits
Now we have the worst Air B&B laws in the country
and privet equity firms not only buying the homes
If you dont have your foot in the door already
I see no way how a young couple can live and raise their children here
Sedona only became ‘this way’ since the RE bubble crash of ‘08-‘09,
n the subsequent explosion of outside investment market-mostly from California n PHX
with associated destruction of the normal rental market
caused by the State legislature ( led by GOPers Toma n Peterson) sell out to the STR industry
Even back when our youngest graduated from RRHS
So sedona school district didn’t close ione elementary school
And the enrollment is down considerably since 2008
I think enrollment is and has been down nationally for a few years now
Many parents have chosen the anti social path of homeschooling their children so they don’t have to attend public schools with “other” kids
Pretty soon our schools will be Evangelical Sunday schools in violation of the sacred Constitution of Convenience used by MAGA drones when it supports their grip on power like when they misconstrue the 2nd Amendment to suit their agenda
Otherwise they want to abolish our Constitution when it doesn’t serve their needs such as the 1st Amendment and the right to free speech
They want to say whatever they want but want all others silenced or prosecuted
I sent my kid to attend public schools just as I did
their parents did and their parents before them
But had my child been enrolled in a school that started posting the 10 Commandments or teaching from the Bible I would have zero choice but to seek out a normal legal school or consider home schooling
I can’t afford one of those fancy expensive Trump bibles after all
And to anyone whose business it is none of
My name is Timothy James Hall but I go by TJ
It is irrelevant to anything but some cry babies have made the non issue and issue
It’s too bad this young couple ran into you
There are few less-inviting things than a self-righteous
dim boomer who thinks they are smarter than everyone else
Reading about this conversation makes me want to move
If you’re curious why so many people are angry and turning hard against traditional institutions
but younger professional I’m here by choice and several of the people in my social circle have small children
No Bitcoin millionaires and no one named Fauntleroy
And it seems that every solution to every problem from the know-it-all class is limitless growth
unchecked by residents who should stop collaborating and “Get off of Next Door.”
But if you are truly concerned about finding ways to increase the population
Arizona leaders announce apprenticeship programs for semiconductor industry https://www.azfamily.com/2024/11/19/arizona-leaders-announce-apprenticeship-programs-semiconductor-industry/
Unfortunately one would have to live in or near Phoenix and that’s the last place I’d want to live after Vegas
if I was young again I might consider it just to get the training and experience
See we know how hard it is for young people to work and live here
So it would be nice to hear more about your success story
I didnt take anything negative out of the article
and I have had the same conversations with tourists myself
It’s interesting to think about Sedona being compared to Sun City
While Sedona has its unique charm with those stunning red rocks
I think Sun City stands out as a haven for retirees who love community-driven activities and amenities
I wonder if Sedona could develop similar recreational programs or clubs to match Sun City’s variety
What do you think would make Sedona more appealing to retirees
This comparison really got me thinking about what makes our area so special

If there’s one mountain bike destination in the USA that is ground-zero for insane POV footage shot on uber-gnarly lines, it is Sedona, Arizona
Sedona’s technical trails attract mountain bikers from around the globe to test their mettle on steep red rock rolls in one of the most gorgeous landscapes on Earth
Think you’ve conquered everything that Sedona has to offer
Local builders have just opened a new trail
and it’s tougher than any legal line that previously existed Sedona
Known as “Hardline,” Sedona’s newest addition turns the triple H into quadruple H
Sedona’s hardest trails were Hangover
“We’ve built other blacks out there, but nothing like this,” said Lars Romig, Board Member for the Verde Valley Cyclists Coalition (VVCC) and the driving force behind the Hardline project
“If you’ve ridden Hangover — the steep
slickrock stuff towards the end of Hangover — this is like that
And beautiful it is. Hardline is accessed by first riding across Hiline
which is easily one of the most beautiful trails in Sedona
Hardline peels off to the right and drops down the flanks of Cathedral Rock
dumping into the Templeton Trail at the junction with Easy Breezy
but the crux of the trail descends close to 450 vertical feet in half a mile
Hardline is “a legit double black,” according to Romig
Romig and his crew of local builders built a squirrel catcher at the top consisting of “two different rollers that drop 80–90 feet of elevation in two different sections
And they’re just kind of like a filter to make sure that if you’re okay with that
because there’s much harder stuff ahead
There are no B-lines or bailouts on Hardline
Once you’re into the meat of the trail
some riders might consider Hardline itself to be a B-line
This zone has been quite popular with professional mountain bikers — such as Remy Métailler and Nate Hills — filming freeriding POV videos here over the years
The crux move on the new Hardline trail is extremely exposed
a bypass around a near-vertical rock wall that riders like Romig
“We rerouted [the trail] past this huge wall that we used to roll down
and it just traverses real tight to the right-hand side of this canyon wall,” said Romig
“We cut out a bunch of bedrock to let it get through there
but it is a “triple black roller,” according to Romig
most riders won’t even recognize it as a rideable line
“Everybody [I’ve taken] on it […] it’s one of those things where it scares them pretty good initially
it’s actually not that bad.’ But you’ve got that exposure on your left that you definitely don’t want to fall.”
The only reason that the gnarly descents on Hangover, Hiline, and Hogs exist is because they were originally user-built trails that were eventually adopted into the official trail system. (Learn more about Hangover’s backstory, here.)
But Hardline is different — it was built with permission and approval from the US Forest Service
Romig first proposed building Hardline back in 2017
around the time that the triple H was adopted
staff positions have changed over at the Coconino National Forest Red Rock Ranger district
the Trails and OHV Coordinator for the Red Rock Ranger District
was integral to getting the project approved
“He’s really key in terms of really wanting to go after a more progressive alignment and trying to address people — like a wide variety of users — from beginner to really advanced
So I think our vision aligned a lot more than staff in the past,” said Romig
Kuhl has successfully addressed both ends of the difficulty spectrum
helping to build beginner-friendly green trails and now
and they knocked out the bulk of the trail build in a two-week sprint
and we just were out there day after day for eight
nine-hour days doing the initial work,” said Romig
“Tommy from Summit to Sea Trails decided [to] donate a week’s worth of time to part of the build,” Romig added
Tommy Cogger and Forrest Gale’s crew “helped [move] 15 plus big rocks
anywhere from 500 pounds to 3,000-pound rocks […] just to make that zone still hard
but make it work in a more manageable level.”
The Coconino National Forest Red Rocks Trail Crew owned a portion of the build and was responsible for constructing an almost nine-foot-tall rock retaining wall — one of the most labor-intensive parts of the build
taking a rock saw to the bedrock to cut the trail around the triple black roller was one of the key parts of the build
without which the trail wouldn’t have been possible
The Verde Valley Cyclists Coalition and Sedona Red Rock Trail Fund also supported the project
Hardline is officially open and ready to ride — just in time for the Sedona Mountain Bike Festival this weekend
Specialized Soil Searching also supported the project and filmed the build
and a feature movie about the Hardline project will be released on Friday night at the festival
you might just have to take on Sedona’s new test piece and see if you’re truly up to this red rock challenge
Get a taste of the Hardline action in Nate Hills’ Follow Cam Friday from the new trail:

(Editor’s note: The WNBA Draft will take place at 7 p.m
Sedona Prince has entered her name in the draft after exhausting her college eligibility.)
Sedona Prince has had a winding journey toward the 2025 WNBA Draft
where she’s expected to finally join the league in April after a seven-year college odyssey
is enjoying the most successful season of her career
multiple injuries and becoming famous for highlighting the disparities between the men’s and women’s NCAA Tournaments
Her size and dominant play for the Horned Frogs
who are in the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history
have made Prince a tantalizing prospect for the WNBA
League general managers are carefully weighing Prince’s upside against her age and injury history
But in a relatively rare occurrence for women’s basketball
they’re also considering the potential repercussions from multiple allegations of domestic abuse raised in a report in February
Prince has been accused of physical, sexual and emotional abuse by several former partners dating back to 2019. One former partner told the Washington Post that Prince sexually assaulted her in 2019
alleging sexual misconduct in 2022 in a case that was later dismissed
A third former partner accused Prince of abuse last summer
Prince was involved in a physical altercation with another ex-girlfriend
No charges have been filed against Prince in any of the cases
and she and her attorney have denied all of the allegations
Prince has played in every game this season as the Horned Frogs won their first Big 12 title and entered the NCAA Tournament as a No
TCU coach Mark Campbell said the program is following university policy
Prince uploaded a video in August to her TikTok account denying accusations
“I have never abused anybody in my life,” after an ex-girlfriend posted videos accusing Prince of abuse
WNBA executives said they are mindful of these allegations
but many said they’re confident she’ll be drafted
It’s unfortunate that that’s been a blemish on what’s been a great season for her,” one general manager said
Six WNBA general managers discussed Prince with The Athletic and were granted anonymity to talk candidly about her as a draft prospect
The WNBA and WNBPA have not suspended any players since they created a joint domestic/intimate partner violence policy in the 2020 collective bargaining agreement
(Players opted out of this CBA and are currently negotiating with the WNBA.) But the WNBA has punished players in the past who
Riquna Williams served a 10-game league suspension from the Los Angeles Sparks after a 2019 arrest on domestic battery charges
she was barred from team activities with the Las Vegas Aces after facing a slew of felony and misdemeanor domestic battery charges
Brittney Griner and her then-partner and WNBA player Glory Johnson received seven-game suspensions in 2015 — the longest bans in league history at that time — following a league investigation into their arrests for suspicion of assault and disorderly conduct following a physical fight with each other
evaluating a potential draftee following domestic violence allegations in college is largely new territory for the league
“I think it’s just up to different teams how much they look into (allegations)
how much they’re concerned by it,” one of the executives said
An online petition asking for Prince’s removal from TCU was posted in August and has more than 200,000 signatures
WNBA rules prohibit general managers from talking to prospects before the completion of their college seasons
and some said the quick turnaround between the end of the NCAA Tournament and the draft
which comes eight days after the national championship
could prevent teams from extensively interviewing Prince about the allegations
Prince has not addressed allegations in news conferences
Multiple executives raised concerns about alleged off-court issues
but none outright said those would prevent Prince from being drafted
“She’s a very talented player that I think would be good in our league,” one general manager said
“And it sounds like she might get a chance to prove that.”
Prince’s initial fame in college athletics came after she filmed a viral social media video in 2021 that called out the disparities between the men’s and women’s NCAA Tournaments
The video sparked widespread change in the sport
Prince was also one of the lead plaintiffs in the House vs
NCAA lawsuit that led to the NCAA’s $2.8 billion settlement
Prince’s play on the court for TCU has piqued WNBA executives’ interest
She’s undoubtedly been a productive college player
especially in the latter part of her career
Not a chance 👎 pic.twitter.com/0C9mgTjXsV
— TCU Women’s Basketball (@tcuwbb) March 22, 2025
Her 2024-25 season has dramatically improved her draft stock
Prince is part of arguably the best pick-and-roll combination in college basketball with guard Hailey Van Lith
Prince shoots nearly 44 percent on mid-range 2s and better than 70 percent around the rim
“What will translate with Sedona Prince is her size and her versatility,” another general manager said
“She can finish around the rim and also stretches the floor
she’s blocking nearly nine percent of all opponents’ shots
putting her in the 97th percentile nationally
with an assist-to-turnover ratio in the 94th percentile
“The talent is flat-out undeniable and unquestionable
There’s maybe 10 players in the world that are 6-7 with her skillset and basketball IQ,” Campbell said
“She impacts every shot around the basket all game.”
Campbell said he would be surprised if Prince isn’t a first-round selection
and that’s a potential impact player in the W
GMs also have to contextualize her skills with her age relative to her competition
you should be dominating them,” a general manager said
GMs have also wondered how Prince fits into the modern WNBA
Teams are increasingly moving away from traditional centers who seldom shoot 3s
and Prince has only attempted five 3-pointers this season
Another executive wondered if Prince can stay on the floor against the WNBA’s speed and athleticism
Campbell vouched for Prince as a non-traditional WNBA prospect
size and skill set to 2024 WNBA Finals MVP Jonquel Jones
Prince’s impact in college has been undeniable
that is not the only factor teams are considering
But many GMs said her talent will likely override potential lasting controversy from the allegations she’s faced
there’s the off-court stuff,” a general manager said
“(But) I think there’s a place for her just because she impacts the game so much.”
Now, thanks to the efforts of the Goldwater Institute, in partnership with the Arizona Citizens Defense League (AzCDL) and other allies
Sedona residents and visitors may lawfully carry firearms
and other non-projectile weapons for self-defense—rights protected by state law
Sedona enacted City Code Section 12.30.090
broadly making it “unlawful to carry a deadly weapon into any park
or open space area.” This included firearms
knives with blades longer than three and a half inches
and other “item[s] designed for lethal use.” A separate subsection of the ordinance broadly (and redundantly) prohibited the carry or discharge of firearms
The code also requires written permission from the city for “[s]pecial events or instructional classes.”
Earlier this year, Gianluca Zanna, who lives near Sedona and is an AzCDL member, noticed this provision and alerted AzCDL that it was likely illegal under Arizona’s firearm preemption statute
which has been strengthened by the state legislature in recent years
is a Sedona resident and was also concerned about the illegal restriction
Such investigations put a city’s state funding at risk if their ordinances do not comply with state law
Fortunately, at its December 10 meeting, the council removed the blanket prohibition on carrying weapons and all references to knives (which have their own preemption statute in state law)
citizens may now carry firearms and knives throughout Sedona as long as they follow all state and federal laws
It is also a great example of what can happen when even one informed citizen stands up for his or her rights
the government still has more to do to fully comply with the law and respect citizens’ fundamental rights
The city council left in place amended language restricting the possession or carrying in parks
and open space areas of what the city classifies as air or spring-powered projectile weapons
Of course, this absurd result is little more than an attempt by the city to cling to any semblance of regulatory power it might have over weapons. Although the ordinance now avoids certain statutory problems, all of the listed weapons likely fall within the scope of the Arizona Constitution’s provision protecting the citizen’s right to bear “arms” in defense of self or the state
Additionally, new language broadly restricting the discharge of firearms within city limits, unless in self-defense, likely violates the state firearm preemption statute because it is not limited to city parks and sweeps in legal uses such as target shooting and hunting
And lastly, the subsection requiring city permission for all “[s]pecial events or instructional classes” is not limited to those involving weapons and probably violates state laws requiring cities to set criteria using “clear and unambiguous language” any time a license or permit is required for free speech or assembly activities
and to refrain from basing licensing decisions on requirements or conditions not specifically authorized by law
Goldwater warned the city in advance of its meeting of each of these deficiencies in the draft language
We celebrate for the citizens who can now lawfully carry firearms and knives in self-defense in Sedona
But we hope more will be done to give full protect rights protected under the state constitution and state law
and we expect that the city will refrain from enforcing the ordinance in any illegal manner
Goldwater will continue to fight for the right of armed self-defense in Arizona and across the country

ARIZONA ATTORNEY GENERAL KRIS MAYES ADDRESSES RALLY FOLLOWING THE MARCH
Sedona – A peaceful crowd of over 900 locals overwhelmed Uptown Sedona Saturday
April 5th carrying signs and chanting as part of the largest day of nationwide protests since Donald Trump assumed his second term
Participants called on Trump and Elon Musk to keep their “hands off” programs
and services on which Verde Valley and Arizona residents rely
The Sedona march and rally was one of over 27 that took place throughout Arizona
Participants came from throughout the Verde Valley
AZ Attorney General Kris Mayes addressed the crowd saying
“We are fighting back with what I call the three C’s: courage
and the courts.” She told the protesters that she
along with a coalition of Democratic State Attorneys General have filed 11 lawsuits against the Trump administration
one of the organizers and President of Democrats of the Red Rocks said
We want Trump and non-elected Elon Musk to keep their hands off our healthcare
and our private records and our civil rights!”
President Trump has issued over 100 executive orders in his current term
Many of those violate federal laws and the Constitution
with the courts enacting stays or overturning them
Local groups supporting the march included: After the March Indivisible
And not a single marcher felt the need to strap on a firearm and menace people
Arizona Republic estimated the crowd at over 500 vs estimate of over 900 in this article
estimates were wide from over 1000 to over 1500
One account of attendees in Flagstaff was over 2500
I’m sure history will look back on the million person march
Criminal ill Douche exaggerates his crowd sized on purpose
Nobody actually counts crowd participation unless tickets like to a Dump Rally are sold and number of tickets and Capacity DICKtates exactly how many people participate and he has been caught purposely lying about this many many times
There were Definitely far far more people marching against ill Douchebag than have ever stood on the corner in front of of Senior MAGA’s with their firearms (most use very very ineffectively unless committing another Mass Shooting for funsies) because they believe all of the lies and propaganda about their fellow Americans so much that they feel they need to be armed assholes ready to murder their fellow Americans for sneezing
Michael or whomever and continue to focus on things that are sheer propaganda and bullshit while the Orange Jackass burns down your house
Your just a Troll without any truth or facts otherwise you’d post legitimate information and back it up with factual links from reputable media outlets rather than just coming on here and calling people names because they have stated facts about the Draft Dodging Commie Loving GI Hating Treasonous Insurrectionist Felon as if you were married to his Bigly arse
all these people were on elon’s side
this just shows you how weak these people are
A large percent of these people had no clue what they were protesting for
Kamala harris was not voted in leagaly to become president
It is common practice for the president to put in many individuals into places of necessity with no votes
Nobody knew the Afrikaner Boer was a closet Nazi before now
What should we do render him a Nazi Salute for paying people to make rockets
Satellites and Cars he pays people to design for him
For what making billions off of the people who build and launch his rockets for him
He did so using Federal Funding from Government Agencies he has been giving the reins to
Talk about a Criminal Conflict of Interest
Nobody marching is weak for standing up to Cowardly Criminal Fascist
On the contrary they are some of the bravest humans around today
Everyone else is a Dump sycophant too weak and cowardly to stand up for Truth and FACT
Kamala nor Biden incited a Criminal Treasonous Insurrection
Especially the one with 34+ Felony Convictions and would have seen plenty more plus life in prison had he not rigged the SCOTUS with jackasses who lied to Congress during their confirmation hearings
Using campaign funds for personal legal fees is also a felony he somehow absconded from Justice
He also DID steal truck loads of Top Secret and above documentation
Should we thank the Orange Criminal for that
Should we thank him for the hundreds of law enforcement officers he incited violence against all to overthrow a free and fair election
Criminals do not deserve thanks for being criminals and fascist should be shut down any and every time it exposes it fugly head
It is not common practice for a POTUS to appoint a multi Billionaire to oversee the very Government Agencies that oversee his private contracts with them
Its City Council voted earlier this month to proceed with an annexation that would add a big slice of land to the actual city
The council voted 6-1 to file a petition with Yavapai County and with that
At stake is a 3,422 acre slice of land west of current Sedona where its wastewater treatment plant is located
That would add a little more than 5 square miles to a city that is only 18 square miles right now
Councilwoman Kathy Kincella voted in support of annexation
"Every time somebody wants to develop a lot
somebody comes and talks about how it’s one of the few undisturbed pieces of land
But that’s not really of the lots that’s within the city boundaries
This in my eyes is a pure and undeveloped piece of land that I’m interested in preserving that way for as long as we can," she said
"Our city in its entire history has never expanded its boundaries
We’re surrounded by world-renowned beauty and why start to chip away at that now," he said
