Raegan and Iain call Montana’s daughter their niece
Young Sheldon wrapped up last year after being cancelled
but it still remains insanely popular and people literally cannot get enough of Iain Armitage’s charm
Not only did he master his role as Sheldon in the TV series, but he became super close with his cast members throughout the seven seasons of the show. Actually, the whole cast seemed to gel so well, according to a number of vibey behind the scenes pics from filming.
So, these are all the real life friendships between the Young Sheldon cast.

They literally grew up together, so it would be weird for them to be anything less.
A post shared by Raegan Revord (@raeganrevord)
You only need to glance at Raegan’s Instagram to see how close she is with the entire cast. She frequently shares herself reuniting with the cast, and is always hugging someone or other. Raegan clearly became super close and made so many Young Sheldon friendships over the course of filming.

Raegan seems especially close with Montana Jordan, even calling herself the auntie of his little girl. The pair have shared loads of photos together, arguably seeming closer than her and Iain despite the bigger age gap. She often shares happy birthday messages and throwback pictures of them both and it’s sweet to see how close they still are today.

Annie Potts who plays Mee Maw previously expressed a special fondness for Iain, referring to him like her son. Not only is she proud of his talent, but even expressed how much she enjoyed the opportunity to have a “little boy in my life again” throughout filming of the show after previously raising sons of her own.

Both playing Sheldon in Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory
They meet quite regularly and always snap a selfie to share with fans of both shows
with Iain even going to support Jim in a Broadway show
Their bond is one of the Young Sheldon friendships that wasn’t destined to succeed as they don’t share scenes
but obviously the pair have a lot in common so it’s no shock that they grew close
They’ve even made a few TikToks together

Playing George Cooper, Lance bonded with all of his on screen kids during filming of the show. His relationships with the younger cast are very wholesome and he even joined Raegan and Zoe Perry in the 2023 Writers Guild of America strikes where they supported each other on the picket lines.

Sheldon was raised by his mother and stepfather
along with his stepbrother Pat and stepsister Dolly.
Roosevelt University in Chicago and the University of Buffalo where he completed a Ph.D
Sheldon started his career teaching at Russel1 Sage College
He then served as Chief of the Counseling Psychology Service at the VA Hospital in Albany
Sheldon joined the University at Albany faculty and founded the Rehabilitation Counseling Master’s program and wrote the curriculum for a new Ph.D
He continued his career in academia for over four decades
serving as Chairman of the Department of Counseling Psychology for much of that time.
Sheldon loved teaching and mentoring students but never hid the fact that he disliked the pretentious world of academia
he founded and ran Forensic Rehabilitation Services in Albany with his wife Alayne
serving as experts in lawsuits involving people with disabilities
Sheldon had an aversion to funerals and obituaries as he felt they turned everyone
He was often cynical about many things in life and we hope this obituary will give some insight into Sheldon as a person without the sugar coating
Sheldon lived an intellectual life and enjoyed exploring many subjects in depth
beyond his field of psychology including history
He was an avid reader and would delve deep into a subject that interested him
when he discovered an interest in the Civil War
he would read countless books on the Civil War until he felt satisfied that he had a thorough understanding of the conflict from many perspectives
And then he would move on to another subject to delve into
he would study the region he was about to visit to be sure he understood the history and culture of the people he was visiting.
He loved to debate and had the confidence to discuss pretty much any subject except business
He would read the NY Times cover to cover each morning with his coffee but always excluded the business section as he couldn’t care less about it.
Sheldon had the confidence to question long held beliefs and traditions and respected others who did the same
He would often challenge his doctors during appointments regarding their medical advice and leave convinced the doctor didn’t have a clue what he was talking about
(As he would say: “It’s so rare for students to flunk out of medical school that you must assume that many doctors are either incompetent or just plain lousy.”) He would then seek a second opinion which often confirmed his suspicion.
You could say he was the opposite of a yes-man and never hesitated to speak his mind if he didn’t like the way he saw people being treated
Throughout much of his life he was focused on the unfortunate way people with disabilities were treated in our society
He used to watch the Jerry Lewis Telethons in the 1970’s and became furious when Jerry would bring a child on stage to be pitied
Sheldon focused on the way the elderly were treated in society.
but nonetheless had strong opinions and didn’t shy away from expressing them
In the 1970’s and 80’s he lived in an overwhelmingly Republican neighborhood at the time but was proud to post a “Dump Reagan” sign on his lawn to the chagrin of his neighbors.
he took his son to the Mohammed Ali – Joe Frazier championship boxing match on closed circuit tv at the Palace Theater in Albany and told his son he should go to school the next day without doing his homework
“Just tell the teacher that there’s more important things in life than school work and if she has a problem with that
she should call me.” In many ways he was the cool dad.
it was clear to see how much Sheldon was respected as a teacher and mentor
he would run into former students who would approach him with such admiration and appreciation for the influence he had on their career
a former student would approach him at Grand Central Station: “Oh my god
I was in your class in 1975 and I just have to thank you…”
Sheldon reconnected with his childhood passion playing the accordion
He spent over a year practicing with the help of an accordion teacher and then joined the accordion band Squeeze Play
Over the next decade he loved rehearsing and performing with the band
He loved his time as a musician and would often say that if he could live his life over again and if he had the talent
he would spend his life as a musician and not in academia.
Sheldon is survived by his two sons from his first marriage to Francine: Earl and his wife Ellen
and Paul and his wife Sherry and his granddaughter Fiona

A Democratic lawmaker's decision to skip a key vote on Donald Trump's new tariffs has sparked backlash from other Democrats
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse missed the vote to rebuke Trump's global tariffs on Wednesday, which ended in a 49-49 tie, before Vice President JD Vance traveled to Capitol Hill to cast a tiebreaking vote against the resolution
Even if it did pass the Senate, the House wasn't expected to take up the resolution after Republicans passed a rule that specifically blocks this type of resolution until the end of September
Trump would also likely have vetoed the resolution if it reached his desk
Newsweek has contacted Whitehouse's office for comment
Trump introduced "Liberation Day" tariffs on April 2
He used a 1970s law called the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to enact the levies
Some lawmakers have argued that the act cannot be used by the president to enact tariffs. As a result, a dozen states have joined to sue the administration, arguing that the president lacked the authority to impose them, and that such tariffs must be approved by Congress
The issue, and Trump's agenda more broadly, has also exposed divides within the Republican Party on economic policy and within the Democrats on how to respond to the president's policies
The resolution was tied after three Republicans—Senators Rand Paul
and Lisa Murkowski—joined Democrats in supporting the rebuke of Trump's tariffs
the vice president traveled to Capitol Hill late Wednesday to cast a tiebreaking vote in the Senate
It was only the second time the vice president has used his tiebreaking authority
it would have effectively blocked Trump's tariffs by revoking the emergency order the president is using to implement them
Two senators who had been expected to vote for the resolution—Republican Mitch McConnell and Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse—were absent
Whitehouse missed the vote due to a planned trip to South Korea for an environmental conference
"Senator Whitehouse is on his way back from representing the United States at the Our Ocean summit
where he was the sole American official," Meaghan McCabe
"The senator expressed America's continued support for the Blue Economy
even as the Trump administration cedes leadership on the oceans to the rest of the world," she said
A spokesperson for McConnell stated that the senator would have voted for the resolution had he been present
"The Senator has been consistent in opposing tariffs and that a trade war is not in the best interest of American households and businesses
He believes that tariffs are a tax increase on everybody," the spokesman said
Whitehouse's absence in particular drew backlash
San Francisco Democratic congressional candidate Saikat Chakrabarti called it a sign of being "completely unserious" about the job
wrote: "I hope Sheldon Whitehouse enjoyed the conference in f*****g Korea that he's been attending while the Senate is in session and voting."
Andrew Desiderio of Punchbowl News reported Wednesday night that there was "some consternation" among rank-and-file Democratic senators at party leadership
which had scheduled the vote for Wednesday evening despite apparently knowing Whitehouse would be absent
Episode One — Stupid Tariffs Supply chains disrupted
Dow has worst April start since Great Depression."
Whitehouse voted in favor of a resolution to end Trump's tariffs on Canada
House Republicans used a procedural tactic to block the resolution from being considered in their chamber
San Francisco congressional candidate Saikat Chakrabarti said on X: "Sheldon Whitehouse missed this vote because he was attending a conference in South Korea
This is what it looks like to be completely unserious about your job."
Podcast presenter Josh Barro wrote on X: "I hope Sheldon Whitehouse enjoyed the conference in f*****g Korea that he's been attending while the Senate is in session and voting."
Senate Majority Leader John Thune moved to ensure that tariff opponents were unable to bring their resolution back up at a later date
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer hit at Republicans for preventing a future vote
saying that "Thune and the Republicans are working to keep Trump's tariffs in place."

Perhaps one of the most underrated and underappreciated groups out there
each member of this band is a virtuoso of their instrument: Fareed Haque on guitar
Oz Ezzeldin on keyboards and Gary Novak on drums
The band’s compositions highlight the mastery of these musicians - from their improvisations to showcasing worldly influences and rhythms to the uniquely American funky grooves based in jazz
Garaj Mahal is one of the finest jam bands around as you take in the joy in the seamless interplay of these four

Watching The Big Bang Theory after its spinoff can feel like discovering a secret ingredient in a familiar recipe
Sheldon Cooper’s quirks in the original sitcom suddenly take on extra depth once we know where they came from
The friendly warmth and subtle family drama of Young Sheldon casts new shadows over TBBT’s broad comedy
Even throwaway jokes catch a bittersweet echo
why does Young Sheldon behave like an adult while adult Sheldon behaves like a kid
– the answer turns out to be that Sheldon himself hasn’t really changed.)
one analysis notes that young and old Sheldon “has changed very very little” – he’s still quirky about animals
and affection – but our understanding of him has
And that makes all the difference in how we laugh (and sometimes tear up)
Young Sheldon is full of tender moments that retroactively sprinkle meaning on TBBT
the prequel shows Mary and George Cooper giving up their own dreams to support Sheldon’s genius
Vox writes that Young Sheldon wants to leave you with “warm nostalgia” and highlights “the ways [parents] have given up on certain dreams to let their kids thrive,” noting that Sheldon gradually realizes “how much everyone in his family is making sacrifices for him”
an older Sheldon’s stern lecturing or motherly chiding in Big Bang can feel tinged with understanding – we see those moments as a loving family coping with an extraordinary child
the show acknowledges that the backstory isn’t all sunshine
everything we knew on Big Bang “suggests [Sheldon’s] childhood was awful”
That discovery makes some of TBBT’s jokes about Sheldon’s trauma feel unexpectedly poignant
Throwaway lines about a lonely little boy or offhand comments about Sheldon's family now register as hints at real hardship
The academic prodigy’s humor feels like a coping mechanism
and episodes you thought were just funny can suddenly feel a bit sadder
fans note that after watching Young Sheldon first
The Big Bang Theory becomes “more than just a show full of nerdy jokes and science references”; they find “a lot of life lessons tucked away in the humor” that only click with the backstory
It’s also clear that Sheldon’s core never flipped like a switch
but in truth he’s fundamentally the same oddball
you realize why his youthful formalities make sense: Sheldon’s personality was always grown-up for his age
just as his adult self still holds onto boyish traits
we see continuity instead of a contradiction
So when adult Sheldon pouts on the couch or gets excited about video games
you spot the echoes of the kid who once sat in the car listening to Patti Page
That awareness makes his scenes funnier and sweeter: the catchphrase “BAZINGA” and the comic timing now have a layer of heart beneath them
Young Sheldon isn’t just a cute origin story; it’s packed with nods and Easter eggs for fans
Critics note it feels like a reboot of The Wonder Years
nostalgic film-like tone and adult Sheldon’s voiceover guiding the story
Watching it is like paging through Sheldon’s personal yearbook
then flipping back to see those memories rippling into Big Bang
Every detail is a potential bridge: Sheldon's beloved trains
show up in both timelines (his childhood layout in YS and his "Space Train" model in TBBT)
Even casting plays into it – Mary Cooper in the prequel is played by Zoe Perry
who is the real-life daughter of Laurie Metcalf (the Mary we met on TBBT)
These layers make fans feel rewarded when a bit of TBBT lore turns up on Young Sheldon
Young Sheldon writers have retconned little mysteries (a rumored infidelity by George Cooper turned out to be a big misunderstanding) so that old anecdotes fit the picture
Storylines weave together: a joke about Sheldon's mom’s smoking habit in the car on TBBT is fully shown in YS as Mary sneaking cigarettes
Small details – Sheldon's prized Funko Pop collection
the Cooper family baptisms – reappear with context
All these callbacks enrich the experience: re-watching The Big Bang Theory after Young Sheldon is like re-reading a novel with an extra chapter
The narrative connective tissue can make you smile
as when an earlier gag becomes a gentle setup
it turns Big Bang into something new: a richer comedy woven together with genuine family love and character history
Young Sheldon has quietly become essential viewing for Big Bang fans
What started as a quirky spinoff now feels like a missing puzzle piece: it deepens the original and makes its heroes more human
the whole gang’s journey feels warmer and more complete
The prequel didn’t just add more jokes about toy trains – it added layers of heart
turning old episodes upside-down in the best way
Fans are left thinking differently about Sheldon's story
the world of The Big Bang Theory gains new depth when we meet its hero as a kid – and the laugh track has a softer echo once you’ve heard Sheldon’s young voice
By giving us the backstory of its most distinctive character
Young Sheldon has reshaped The Big Bang Theory into something deeper for its audience
Now every quirk and catchphrase comes with a backstory of family
the spin-off feels less like a bonus and more like an essential chapter of Sheldon’s saga
It turns a lightweight sitcom into a richer
more human tale – exactly the kind of twist that makes rewatching the original an entirely new experience
passed away peacefully at home after a hard fought battle with cancer on March 7

Eugene is planning deep cuts to a slew of major services
end funding for CAHOOTS and close a city swimming pool and community center
Eugene City Manager Sarah Medary posted a draft of the budget on April 25
calling it one of her most challenging and noting that it would come with “significant service impacts." The budget
which would cover the 2025-27 fiscal period
includes wide-reaching cuts to the downtown Library
The city would employ fewer workers as well — a total of 34.63 "full-time equivalent" positions would be cut
Medary had projected a $11.5 million annual gap
totaling $23 million over the two-year general fund budget
which is primarily funded by property taxes
Medary proposed $17.8 million in “gap strategies,” mainly consisting of service cuts and reallocations
Also in the budget are $1.6 million in canceled "investments," which were mostly programs previously funded with one-time money the city had hoped to make ongoing but canceled instead
Also in the budget are “bridge strategies,” including using leftover health insurance funds
Medary presented the budget to the Budget Committee
comprising the Eugene City Council and eight volunteers
Members of the committee did not vote on any changes at this first meeting
thanking Medary and staff for their work but also expressing dismay at how steep the service cuts recommended to balance the budget were and the challenge ahead for the committee
more than any I think I've been involved in my seven years on this committee
is so much more difficult and so much more complex than a lot of what we've had to face in the past," committee Chair Tai Pruce-Zimmerman said
What's cut in the recommended General Fund?Medary recommended cuts that would impact all six city departments. The biggest cuts hit the library, alternative response (CAHOOTS), the city's Equity & Community Engagement office and animal welfare
It also proposes closing the Amazon Pool and the Sheldon Community Center
Medary recommended closing the Downtown library on Sundays and Mondays and completely closing the Amazon Pool and Sheldon Community Center starting Oct
Medary recommended pairing the Sunday and Monday downtown library closure with expanded Sunday hours at the Sheldon and Bethel branch libraries to meet the requirements of the library operations levy
The library cuts would result in the layoffs of 4.7 FTE-equivalent of library assistants and a library manager
and close vacant positions for 2.7 FTE of library assistants and 0.8 of a custodian
"This strategy will reduce access at the downtown location by two days per week
which will impact services for downtown library patrons and reduce access for community members that use the facility as a safe space and as a cooling/warming center in adverse weather events," Medary wrote
Medary proposed reassigning full-time employees who work at the Amazon Pool and the Sheldon Community Center to other parts of the city's recreation program
but eliminating the temporary employees who serve both: the lifeguards at Amazon Pool and the preschool and afterschool workers at the Sheldon Community Center
"This will reduce local access to early learning
"With the closure of Sheldon Community Center
these programs would no longer be available to provide childcare."
She also recommended "vacancy savings" (effectively a hiring freeze) for the department
as well as a pair of funding realignments to allocate positions in Community and Cultural Affairs and the River House outdoor center with the Cultural Services Subfund instead of the main section of the General Fund
This fund is paid for with Transient Lodging Tax paid for by hotel users
Budget committee member Wendy Simmons voiced concern on the impact of library cuts
"Multiple programs there serve people of all ages," she said
giving them a welcoming and safe place to be
Medary proposed reducing the General Fund budget for the Alternative Response Program by $1.55 million, reflecting the end of the city's contract for CAHOOTS
She also proposed eliminating the alternative response planning chief position
which supports the single-role ambulance transport
alternative response and senior response programs
The was the change that received the most feedback both during April 26's public comment period and at the budget committee meeting
community members urged the City Council to restore CAHOOTS with funds from the Community Safety Payroll Tax
"The money from the Community Safety Payroll Tax, we're expecting $67 million. I want some of that allocated, maybe $8 million, to CAHOOTS," Eugene resident Alex Chamberlin said. "In Section D of the ordinance
it specifically mentions CAHOOTS as something the ordinance is going to increase funding for
Budget committee members were divided on this line item
with some saying restoring CAHOOTS was an urgent need
"I'm very concerned about the loss of CAHOOTS in our community," said committee member Zach Mulholland
"Every month that they are not in service it's harder to bring them back
Other members of the committee said the challenges with CAHOOTS were related to White Bird Clinic
and argued that restoring it would require more than a budget conversation
"White Bird indicated they were no longer going to provide that service," Councilor Eliza Kashinsky said
"I feel like at this point we need to talk about who
what's the organizational structure surrounding this service
we can come back to the funding conversation because there's a lot of unknowns."
Medary proposed eliminating two management analyst positions and the senior program coordinator from the Office of Equity and Community Engagement
This represents half of the positions in the office that support the city's equity efforts
and providing city outreach and engagement
and support for neighborhood associations; decrease capacity for equity and engagement consultation
and policy analysis; reduce but not eliminate support for hate crimes and discrimination victims
and human rights education; scale back support for the HRC to maintain the minimum work required by City code; and eliminate HRC grants for community events," Medary wrote
Councilor Jennifer Yeh expressed concern about the Office of Equity and Community Engagement's cuts and requested more information from Medary on the program
"I would appreciate more clarity around our Office of Equity and Community Engagement and how those reductions are going to affect our ability to provide those services in our community at a time where it seems ever presently important to be working on inclusion," she said
Medary proposed eliminating the Eugene Police Department's Animal Welfare Unit
a team that investigates criminal cases involving the abuse and neglect of animals and transports them to shelters
eliminates its "animal services sheltering contract" with Greenhill Humane Society worth approximately $400,000
"This reduction also removes support for animal-related calls for service not requiring police response and funding for animal shelter services
All mandatory work currently provided by this program will result in an increased workload for other staff in the organization," Medary wrote
Medary also proposed eliminating EPD's Community Engagement Team
which provides police community events and educational presentations; eliminating two administrative support positions for the EPD volunteer program; and eliminating currently vacant positions for a Community Safety Officer and a Records Specialist
Most of the proposed changes to this department would impact parks
Medary proposed reducing two employees and resources devoted to park maintenance
Included in this line item are changes to reduce park lighting hours and irrigation frequency
shut off some spray play features and scale down park custodial and landscape frequency
The budget also proposes eliminating a vacant senior program coordinator position
which would be responsible for supporting community gardens and volunteer programs
leading to fewer events and reducing the seasonal staff that city parks typically hire in the summer
Medary also proposed eliminating a vacant management analyst position that supports the Sustainability Program and shifting a fifth of the salary and benefits for the Public Works operations manager to the Stormwater Fund instead of the General Fund
Medary proposed eliminating three city staffers who support homeless services
and other support services." She proposed this reduction only for the 2026-27 half of the budget
the city should encourage the state to allocate All-In funding to Lane County and nonprofits to take on these services
The budget also proposed eliminating a vacant position that supports the city's business retention and economic development program
Medary highlighted urban growth planning asone area that would be impacted by job growth
This section includes areas Medary had one point planned to expand the General Fund to but ultimately did not in her final recommendation
Some of these would have been new services but most would be areas previously funded with one-time money the city had hoped to make ongoing instead
but in the recommended budget spends half of what was previously planned for the work.$40,000 in police vacancy savings (0 FTE)Last biennium
the city used one-time money to shrink the level of the hiring freeze for Eugene police
Medary recommended making half of that change permanent and removing part of the freeze from the General Fund but ultimately landed $40,000 less than previously planned.Approved General Fund investmentsBut some "investments" did make the cut
They represent a mixture of one-time funded services shifting to ongoing and new or expanding services
There is overlap with the last category as some services got funding
the city saw mostly flat revenue or increases to its various special funds
totaling $25.8 million and a 12.0 FTE increase over the 2023-25 biennium
All three of the changes would be paid for out of the Cultural Services Subfund
The Hult Center's programming reflects an increase in offerings, including "Hult Presents" and Broadway shows at the Hult Center
Medary said the revenue from these shows would cover the expense
The LRCS marketing shift is one of the "gap strategies" to close the budget shortfall by paying out of Cultural Services instead of the main General Fund
The downtown events coordinator had the same shift last biennium and is made permanent here
the city budget committee will discuss the budgets and potential changes to them
The committee has four scheduled meetings and will then recommend a budget for voting by the City Council
People can watch the meetings in person at Eugene City Hall (500 E
Fourth Ave.) or online at bit.ly/Eugene-meetings; however
public comment is available in person only for the first two meetings

rocky road that is flanked by dried vegetation

This iconic photograph was made by Cincinnati-based photographer Michael Wilson
who has been working with Lovett since 1992
they’ve developed a rapport that allows Wilson to capture Lovett not just as a performer
There is a quiet ease in their work together that reveals itself in every composition.
Louis Arts+Culture newsletter to discover must-attend art exhibits
Seeing Music/Hearing Pictures
presents a never-before-seen collection of Wilson’s photographs of Lovett
along with his album cover photography and portraits of his Cincinnati neighbors
On April 10, Wilson and Lovett will sit down together for an artist conversation titled “Michael Wilson and Lyle Lovett: Collaboration and Conversation,” at The Sheldon
we spoke with Wilson about how he began photographing album covers
how his relationship with Lovett has evolved over the years
and whether the longevity of their relationship makes it easier to capture the essence of a person
(Some answers have been edited for clarity.)
How did you begin photographing musicians?
music was my main interest outside of photography
flipping through the LPs and reading who played bass and where it was recorded
If I saw a record cover with a beautiful photograph
I would turn it over to see who the photographer and art director were.
I was a photographer’s assistant at a textbook publisher in Cincinnati
I worked in a darkroom and could say I was working professionally as a photographer
but my interest in photography was being sort of sapped
I would go to record stores and would be reminded that there are people doing this kind of work
who was in illustration and had gone freelance about a year before I did
but what I heard in my gut was him questioning: Have you told anybody you want to do this work
and I sent them to a name I saw on the back of a bunch of record covers
It turned out that that name belonged to the head of the art department for Warner Brothers Records.
She wrote back and connected me with a band called The BoDeans
and they ended up using one of the images for a project
On a visit to Los Angeles for another project
I showed her some of the work I had been doing as a freelancer
including a few personal pieces—and one of those ended up becoming a cover for a band called The Replacements.
the art directors at Warner Brothers were all friends with the art directors at Capitol and Sony
That connection actually ended up leading to Lyle Lovett
How has your relationship changed through that time?
I wouldn’t have expected to use the word relationship in connection with someone I’m going to work for
There’s a lot of knowledge built into those years.
Are there any particular shoots with Lovett that stand out to you
There are strong memories associated with each of them
There have been times when I’ve traveled with him on his tour bus
but the one that jumps out to me was the first time I photographed him
I wanted to find a really simple beautiful light to make a formal portrait
We photographed at his house and had done some other pictures around
and the place I would end up doing it at was a modest motel
where I was staying in a town outside of Houston
but I couldn’t help but wonder what he was thinking
but I’m also glad we’ve moved on from that hotel room
That picture is hanging at The Sheldon.
can you speak about that collection?
It’s an interesting show because it brings together work from two very distinct places—work I was commissioned to make and personal work driven purely by the desire to make pictures
I don’t know if the contrast makes it harder or more interesting for the viewer
but The Sheldon is the perfect place for it to happen because it’s also a music venue
One of the galleries has a collection of portraits that are artists I’ve photographed who have performed there
and another gallery is dedicated entirely to the Lyle Lovett work.
The title was designed to speak to the pictures that are specific to the music business
I want to make pictures that look like how a certain band or musician sounds
When you’re trying to capture the essence of a person
does the long relationship you have with Lovett make that easier since you know each other so well
It gets rid of some of the throat clearing that you might go through when meeting a stranger
It does eliminate needing to get to a place where the person being photographed knows that they can trust you
but it doesn’t make the pictures easier to come by

A Bronx man accused of fatally stabbing a fellow subway rider during a dispute on a Manhattan-bound express train last week has been ordered held on $400,000 bond
was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree manslaughter
He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment later that night
Sheldon’s death is the first homicide in the subway system in 2025
Police said Jose-Duarte stabbed 38-year-old John Sheldon
after stepping on Sheldon’s shoes aboard a southbound 4/5 train near the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station
Surveillance footage shows Sheldon standing up in front of Duarte
who then appears to stab Sheldon in the chest with a knife
and the pair exchanged blows on the platform
Sheldon then collapsed with what were described as two puncture wounds to the chest
Jose-Duarte’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment
Last month, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch and Mayor Eric Adams touted a decline in subway crime, crediting increased police patrols. But NYPD data shows transit crime is slightly up compared to last year, with 146 major crimes recorded so far in 2025, compared to 133 during the same period in 2024.

Mayor Adams announced $1.6 million in funding for the "SilentShield" buttons that will be installed in 500 bodegas in the coming months.
A new report from the city’s Charter Revision Commission suggests ways the city could streamline development. The proposals could appear on the November ballot.

'You can’t chase hits': Francona benches Candelario amid strugglesApril 29th
CINCINNATI -- The Reds have been waiting for corner infielder Jeimer Candelario to get hot and show some consistent production
and Candelario is going to the bench while manager Terry Francona gives regular playing time to Noelvi Marte at third base and Spencer Steer at first base
“We actually talked to him today," Francona said on Monday ahead of the Reds' 3-1 win vs
He’s a veteran player that’s had some really good years
it’s hard because there’s guys ahead of him
and talk to him and let him know I certainly understand and care but that I don’t always have the answer you’re looking for
It's no tiny thing for a smaller-market team to sit a player like Candelario
$45 million contract as Cincinnati's top free-agent acquisition ahead of the 2024 season
Candelario was batting .113 with a .411 OPS and two home runs
But after he went 3-for-6 in his first two games
the switch-hitter is 6-for-74 (.081) with 27 strikeouts
much of the Reds' lineup has stepped it up
Marte has been one of its hottest hitters since his second recall from Triple-A Louisville on April 12 and has earned his way into the lineup
After struggling while limited to a designated hitter role
Steer has produced more since moving to first base last week
“I guess the guys are doing great right now
doing good stuff," Candelario told MLB.com
often struggled during the first year of his contract in 2024 -- especially early in the season
20 homers and 56 RBIs before missing the last six weeks on the injured list with a fractured left big toe
“When you’re not having much results … it’s tough
It’s tough sometimes not playing," Candelario said
you’re not taking anything for granted and working really hard to be consistent again and help the team win
Candelario already sat in four of the nine games on the just-concluded road trip
Francona put him in Sunday's lineup at Colorado because he had a decent track record against pitcher Ryan Feltner
But the Rockies made a late decision to start Bradley Blalock instead
In the 8-1 Reds win
Candelario went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts
“I just didn’t want to tell him he was playing and then tell him he was not playing," Francona said Sunday
As the Reds opened a seven-game homestand on Monday vs
Candelario must make the most of the opportunities he's given
His evaluation won't be strictly results-based
That’s a hard way to play," Francona said
"He talked about trying to find rhythm
and I tried to explain to him that in [Miami]
but he swung the bat really well and we thought we’d play him the next day
We want to kind of reassure him that it's more approach
Francona and the Reds are taking a different approach with second baseman Matt McLain
who snapped a career-high 0-for-21 slump with a seventh-inning single Monday
who is now 6-for-46 with 17 strikeouts in 12 games since returning from the injured list on April 15
Sign up to receive our daily Morning Lineup to stay in the know about the latest trending topics around Major League Baseball
Back in Monday's lineup batting second
McLain is viewed as a valuable defensive contributor for the infield even when he isn't hitting well
He had a couple of tough days," Francona said
"I thought it would do him some good.”
McLain didn't feel like he was pressing at the plate
"It’s more frustrating," McLain said
You just got to keep grinding and find a way
put your head down and go to work for the team

A celebration of life will be held at a later date
Arrangements are under the care of the Andringa Funeral Home – Sheldon
the son of James and Beverly (Hofer) Culliton was born on March 10
He received his education through high school in Sioux City
While at the village he worked at Northwest Enterprises (Summit)
at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center at the age of 53 years
Even though Bob was never able to accomplish the things in life that the world sees as a success
Bob was able to accomplish much more than material things
Bob was able to laugh and love like no other
His ability to turn your bad day into a good day was unmatched
His contagious laughter and goofy personality were the cures
He was always looking to prank anyone in his sight
whether that be his way of scaring you or offering you one of his noise making toys and taking it back at the last second
No matter the number of people in the room or how big the room was
and Dr Pepper that was set in front of him was 0%
He definitely ate his money's worth at the buffet
His random dancing and his love for anything Christmas will be missed
He is free from his earthly burdens and is now enjoying dancing in the streets of heaven and seeing the reason for Christmas firsthand
but I'd rather see you pain free with our Lord.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother
Todd Culliton; guardians Andrew and Kari Rutledge and their children
Doreen Van Tilburg; other relatives and friends
Robert was preceded in death by his parents
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sheldon Lee Withrow
Sheldon embraced life with passion and purpose
finding freedom and joy in the thrill of speed and the open road
a reflection of his adventurous and fearless spirit
Sheldon worked hard with becoming an Electrician
he got his journeyman’s license and said he wanted to become a lineman
Sheldon’s kind and generous heart shone brightly
He found true fulfillment in helping others
always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need
His caring nature and infectious laughter left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him
He shared an unbreakable bond with his nieces and nephews
whose lives were forever enriched by his unwavering love and boundless energy
His bright smile and joyful presence will be profoundly missed

Leeds United’s plans to increase the capacity of Elland Road up to 56,500 are beginning to take shape
The Championship side, who will be returning to the Premier League in 2025-26
were given the green light by Leeds City Council to add nearly 20,000 seats to Elland Road
The Athletic has seen the planned outline — which will be submitted as a hybrid planning application for Leeds’ Elland Road redevelopment — and can reveal that work is set to begin in September
Although the club were given planning permission to increase Elland Road to a capacity of up to 56,500 people
the document clarifies that the maximum capacity will be 53,000
that Leeds United will be able to host more supporters than Everton’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock (52,888) and Newcastle United’s St James’ Park (52,305)
the architects overseeing the Elland Road development
were behind the Main Stand expansion at Anfield
as well as Leicester City’s state-of-the-art training facility
The Athletic has analysed their expansion plans
of which the North Stand is currently at an outline stage
and has broken down what you need to know…
On April 23, Leeds City Council approved two key recommendations to ensure the expansion plans can become a reality
The first recommendation they signed off on will see them negotiate the sale of the council-owned land behind Elland Road’s Don Revie (North) and John Charles (West) stands
This means Leeds United can now buy the land from the council at a price that is independently valued and one that will reflect the going market price
The second recommendation approved by the council will see them enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU)
a non-binding agreement between two or more parties
to collaborate with the Lowy Family Group (LFG)
This agreement between the council and LFG enables them to work together on a regeneration strategy for the council-owned land around Elland Road
which includes the park and ride next to Fullerton Park
Lowfields Road and the car parks on either side of Wesley Street
This is where Leeds United may seek full planning permission for one part of the Elland Road redevelopment
while outlining planning permission for another part of the same site under the same application
seeking full planning permission for the West Stand and outlining their plans for the North Stand
with a detailed design to be submitted at a later date
They are common when it comes to major developments as it enables work to begin sooner on one phase of the site before the final plans for the other part of the site are known
The plans for the West Stand are set to see it expanded from 8,000 to 17,750
while the North Stand — if they settle on the plans detailed in their outline — is due to be increased from 10,401 to 15,300
The proposed reconstruction of the West Stand will see it extend into Fullerton Car Park and is going to include
a “broader range of facilities and experiences for both matchday and non-matchday use”
phase one will see the construction of new tiers
a new roof and internal spaces before the north-west corner is demolished
with the erection of a new facade at the same time
The builders will then demolish and fit out the West and South-West corners
before works are carried out to the retained lower tier of the West Stand and the North-West corner
The document notes that it “will be similar in scale to the existing East Stand”
Advanced site works are set to begin in September
but the West Stand construction is not expected to begin until May 2026 and is due to last until the fourth quarter of 2028
The construction plans for the North Stand are yet to be finalised and are still in an outline stage
which means how they appear in their plans is not what it may look like once the redevelopment has been completed
The hybrid planning application notes that the North Stand forms phase two of the redevelopment plans and is due to run in parallel with the West Stand construction
although it will not be completed until two years after the West Stand
the North Stand will retain its lower tier
as well as see a new upper tier constructed along with internal spaces
The plans highlight that the full renovation will not be ready until the fourth quarter (October to December) of 2030
which is when the North Stand is due to open
This is dependent on the eventual final design of the North Stand
A phased approach for both stands is being adopted to ensure Elland Road can continue to operate with minimal disruption and no loss of seating capacity during the redevelopment
you can expect there to be new hospitality areas — and Elland Road is no different
Early renderings suggest they will offer a wider range of food and drink than currently available in Elland Road
The plan is to also create a “diverse range of spaces and experiences” that will “encourage early arrivals and extended stays”
while also creating the opportunity for the facilities to be used on non-matchdays.
Leeds United are exploring the possibility of also making improvements to the South Stand
which could result in an increase in general admission
A consultation process for the South Stand has begun
with the club seeking feedback from supporters
The plans also suggests that the redevelopment will ensure Elland Road is “capable of hosting tournaments for sustained growth”
pointing to the potential of international matches for both the men’s and women’s England teams
Other events include FIFA and UEFA tournaments
A social and economic section in the document notes that “120 to 205 new permanent jobs” at the club and its foundation will be created as a result of the redevelopment
while it is predicted two million visitors will attend Elland Road every year
The overall gross value added estimate predicts between £22million to £29million ($29.3m to $38.6m) as a result of direct economic benefits
indirect tourism benefits and indirect supply chain and induced benefits

The NASCAR Xfinity Series brought the show to Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, and it’s been a rough showing for the wheelmen in The Lone Star State. There’s been an abundance of yellow flags throughout the race thus far, and the latest one saw Sheldon Creed’s afternoon go up in smoke

In the time afterwards, Creed was hopping mad: “I’m tired of this shit,” Creed said via his radio, per Dalton Hopkins of Frontstretch. The No. 00 wheelman added: “F*** yeah! F*** yes! I’m so tired of inexperience taking us out of this shit,” per Toby Christie of Racing America.
Considering this is Day’s second start in the Xfinity Series of his career, it isn’t hard to discern who Creed is speaking about. Evidently, the Hendrick Motorsports wheelman didn’t make a friend in the Haas Factory Team driver in Texas. He’ll have some apologizing to do, at least in Creed’s eyes.

Hendrick believes they have something in the 19-year-old prospect, but it’s been a rough start to his Xfinity Series career. His only other start was at Martinsville, where Day finished P21. He’s raced five times in the Truck Series for Spire Motorsports in 2025, his best finish being P15 twice this year, at Homestead-Miami and Bristol.
Meanwhile, Creed has become a mainstay in the Xfinity Series, impressing at times. However, he’s still looking for the first win since joining the circuit. He’s made it to Victory Lane eight times in the Truck Series, but he’s still yet to take the checkered flag in NASCAR’s second-best circuit.
Time will tell what the future holds for Sheldon Creed and Corey Day, but they’re not on each other’s good-sides this afternoon. Some fences will have to be mended over some Texas barbecue.

Police said a 38-year-old Fort Greene man was fatally stabbed on the subway Friday morning in Lower Manhattan during rush hour
NYPD officials said John Sheldon was riding a southbound train on the 4/5/6 line around 8:40 a.m
leading Sheldon to become enraged and start shouting
The other man then stabbed Sheldon once in the torso
After the train stopped at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station
continued shouting and the other man stabbed him a second time on the platform
First responders took Sheldon in critical condition to Bellevue Hospital
Police said they were looking for a man in his 30s wearing a black jacket and black headphones who fled the station after the incident
Officials were still investigating the incident and whether the men knew each other
Sheldon is the first person to be killed in the city’s transit system so far this year
The NYPD recorded 10 homicides in public transit last year
The MTA said southbound 4 and 5 trains would bypass Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall while police investigated. The transit agency said riders could board and exit 6 trains on the station’s northbound platform, and could take southbound 6 trains from 14th Street–Union Square for service to City Hall.
Correction: Due to incorrect information initially provided by the NYPD, an earlier version of this story misidentified the stabbing victim. This story has been also been updated with additional information.
