It’s never too early to get into the holiday spirit and the city of Sikeston is looking forward to making the season brighter this year Leaders with Historic Downtown Sikeston say Sikeston was once considered the “city of lights” during Christmas I remember we would go around as a family and people would decorate houses downtown was decorated,” said Executive Director Jason Davis Davis is leading the charge to make Sikeston the city of lights once again this holiday season when we go around Christmas time driving and looking at lights So you’ll go to a neighborhood and there may be three houses decorated and then you’re driving for another 15 minutes trying to find other houses that are decorated,” said Davis Davis recently took to social media to fix that problem “We have a platform in downtown where we can get the word out or see if there’s interest And so I just put the Facebook post out.” Davis is looking to use social media feedback to create an interactive light-viewing experience “If we could get neighborhoods on board where everybody in the neighborhood decorates their home and then we’ll put a map together where families can get in their vehicles take the map and just drive through the community and look at the neighborhoods,” said Davis He is hopeful this will make it easier for everyone to get into the holiday spirit to look at lights and not have to spend a lot of time just driving,” said Davis If you’re in a neighborhood willing to decorate big for Christmas, you can reach out to Davis here.
