(WVUE) - A Slidell man has been jailed after he allegedly parked his truck deliberately across train tracks Friday night (Feb
14) in hopes of disrupting the Krewe of Titans Carnival parade
was booked into the Slidell City Jail on single counts of disturbing the peace and aggravated obstruction of a highway
The agency said additional charges are expected
King purposely parked a silver GMC Sierra pickup truck across the railroad tracks Friday night as the parade was passing the intersection of Gause Boulevard and Front Street
Police said King left the vehicle and walked into the parade crowd
“making comments that created a disturbance.”
but caused “multiple people to alert Slidell Police officers,” the department said
“No one realized or reported that King’s truck was parked on the railroad tracks,” a Slidell Police spokesman said
“Due to the disturbance that King was causing in the crowd
King was located several blocks away and was detained by officers due to his irrational behavior
multiple reports inundated the 911 center as King’s truck was struck by a southbound freight train
It wasn’t until after the fact that officers realized the two incidents were related.”
No injuries were reported from the train striking the truck
“This is the perfect example of a ‘See Something
Say Something’ scenario,” Slidell Police chief Randy Fandal said in a statement
“We appreciate the individuals who alerted our officers about this man’s behavior
We are grateful that nobody was injured during this incident.”
