SOUTH JORDAN — Parents of a missing South Jordan teen pleaded for their daughter to come home safely Sunday as they retraced some of her last-known steps
Alisa Petrov, 15, was last seen on April 21, and South Jordan police have characterized her as a “runaway juvenile who is endangered.”
Parents Nikolai and Olga Petrov said Sunday afternoon they were concerned about several possibilities
including whether their daughter was lured away by an adult or that she was potentially trafficked
“That’s what we are suspecting at the moment,” Olga Petrov told KSL TV
The mother said she dropped her daughter off at her school classes in American Fork on Monday
she didn’t make it to the classroom,” Olga Petrov said
“The teachers said she never saw her that day.”
the parents said Alisa went to a nearby gas station where teens often go for snacks and told two boys that she planned to run away
don’t do it,’ but I guess she went for it anyway,” Olga Petrov said
the parents said they learned that Alisa got someone to give her a ride to the UTA FrontRunner station at 6786 W
where she then boarded the train and traveled to Provo
The parents and police said Alisa approached multiple people about helping her in her journey
“She asked a girl to get her a ticket in exchange of cash for the bus to Las Vegas,” Olga Petrov said
The 15-year-old was last seen at the Provo FrontRunner station at 690 S
The Petrovs said though their daughter was always on her phone
including during their excursion to the ski slopes the Sunday before her disappearance
she has not been active on social media over the past 13 days
it might be really dangerous,” Nikolai Petrov said
The couple said they had spoken with Alisa within the past 6 months about talking online to strangers
including in places like Discord and Snapchat
and they instructed her to delete contacts she didn’t know
They said they had checked her daughter’s phone in the days prior to her appearance
and there was nothing to suggest she was going to run away
The family set up its own website for Alisa and they pleaded Sunday afternoon for her safe return
“(Our) whole life is upside down right now,” Olga Petrov said
A police spokesperson told KSL TV on Sunday that there were no updates on the case
Anybody with information or knowledge of Alisa’s whereabouts is asked to contact law enforcement immediately

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Logan Joshua Hansen who tragically left this earth too soon at the age of 15 on November 6
Logan was his father's son in nearly every way
He loved to laugh and to make others laugh which means you couldn't be upset at Logan for long because he could change your mood and bring a smile to your face
and there was no one he teased more than his mom (unc)
He loved an inside joke and had many with family and friends
"I'm just chicken with you."
and younger twin sisters Dakota and Jersey
Jordan was so very proud to be Logan's brother
and we know that Logan felt that same pride for Jordan and his beautiful family
Unforgettable memories were made this past summer when Jordan and Ku'uipo took Logan and his sisters camping
Logan spent the weekend teasing his sisters
He was especially happy when the boys won the fire-starting contest
and he enjoyed rubbing it in with his sisters
With his playful spirit and comforting nature
Logan was the kind of uncle who made every moment with LouLu and KeeSon special
He will forever be remembered as the protective older brother to Dakota and Jersey
something we know he will continue to be from above
You might catch him helping Dakota with a math problem
or enjoying some of his favorite food like salmon
and most of all Ramen noodles with Siracha
Logan can be described as both a rule follower and a rule breaker
Many nights he could be found hanging out with his best friends Sam
You knew they were gaming if you heard Logan shouting and trash talking for hours with his friends
He loved the beach and swimming in the ocean
Amazing memories were made this past summer in California watching Logan freely swimming in the ocean smiling from ear to ear
A smile that his parents will never forget
and loved how his parents made it special every year
and make Christmas memories that will last a lifetime
Logan is survived by his loving parents Josh and Branda Hansen of South Jordan

In addition to completely destroying the affected house
the explosion damaged neighboring residences
The National Transportation and Safety Board released its preliminary report on Wednesday morning
The publicly released information on the report is included at the end of this article
Enbridge Gas Utah -- formally known as Questar Gas before it was acquired from Dominion Energy -- detected gas between the damaged pipeline and the affected homes after the explosion
KUTV reached out to Enbridge to ask for the company's response to the NTSB report
what the next step in the process would be
and what the company would be doing in the future to ensure safety among its Mountain West clients
Enbridge responded in a statement that offered condolences to the family of Logan Hansen
the Bingham High School student killed in the blast
and noting that the company couldn't comment on the continuing investigation
which accounted for two of the three questions asked
The remainder of the statement advocated the use of natural gas
It didn't answer KUTV's third question directly
which was not about the investigation but what the company is doing to ensure the public's safety
it indicated safety measures the company focuses on include regular system surveys of what amounts to more than 20,000 miles of pipeline and noted its employees "are equipped with technology that allows them to detect gas and respond quickly to any system issue," noting they respond to emergency calls within an hour
The statement is included in full at the end of this report
The report states the gas company arrived on-scene about 40 minutes after the explosion and investigated into the night
They were able to isolate the gas leak about 21 hours after the explosion
The leak was found 150 feet away from the destroyed home
None of the five residents of the home reported smelling gas before the explosion
The house did not have a natural gas alarm
which is not required but is a device the NTSB recommends every home should have
The report states Enbridge had tested pressure and completed leak surveys in addition to removing and repairing the failed gas pipe before NTSB investigators arrived on-scene
As the federal agency began its investigation
the gas company continued to test for gas in the area
the investigation is ongoing -- and would continue to scrutinize the gas company and other Utah agencies
"Future investigative activity will focus on Enbridge’s integrity management program
as well as other causal factors," according to NTSB
NTSB said it was also investigating the Utah Department of Public Safety
the state's Division of Public Utilities and the city of South Jordan
KUTV reporter Kristen McPeek contacted Enbridge following the NTSB report's release and asked: What is your response to these findings
What are you doing to ensure safety in the future
South Jordan officials released a statement Wednesday evening
responding to concerns about other transmission lines in the city
our community faced a tragedy that took the life of a young resident and destroyed a family’s home and damaging others
and fear this incident has caused are deeply felt by all of us
The recent preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) today has provided additional information related to the cause of the incident
indicating that a natural gas leak from a transmission pipeline contributed to this devastating event
We know this news may raise questions and concerns about the safety of the transmission lines in our community and how it may relate to your own home and we want residents to feel safe
Our public safety team is working closely with residents in the immediately affected neighborhood to share information and provide some additional testing
including those outside of this affected neighborhood
we want to highlight a few steps you can take to feel more secure in your home:
We will continue to share information as we receive it from the NTSB and the Enbridge Company as it relates to this incident

Utah (KUTV) — Neighbors are raising questions about the effect of a proposed development in South Jordan on local wildlife and the protected green space along the Jordan River
which would involve the construction of over 180 homes on 18 acres of protected land
was recently announced through a public notice regarding a zoning change
The area is located around 515 W Ultradent Dr
One of the concerned residents who lives near the Jordan River Trail
expressed her shock upon receiving a letter from the city about the zoning change
because they want to take this beauty out here and build on 18 protected green space acres," Carlson said
She explained how she and her husband fell in love with their home
particularly because of the expansive view of the natural greenspace
"We walked into this door and saw these giant windows looking out towards this greenspace
Carlson and other residents worry that the new development could disrupt the habitat for wildlife in the area
which they consider vital to the community’s environment and character
the city spokesperson confirmed that the land is private property
and while the development proposal is still in its early stages
South Jordan officials outlined some key information for the development:
Altitude Land Use Amendment and Rezone Public Hearing
KUTV reached out to the developer with questions about plans
Carlson had assumed the area was protected from development, citing a masterplan designed to maintain the area and protect the wildlife there
For those interested in sharing their opinions, a public meeting will be held Tuesday at South Jordan City Hall at 6:30 p.m
to allow for public comment on the proposed zoning change
Utah (KUTV) — A man was fatally shot by police in South Jordan on Friday night after opening fire on officers from inside his vehicle
South Jordan police responded to a report of a vehicle theft in progress near 9400 South and 4600 West shortly before 10:30 p.m
officers made contact with a man inside the vehicle
The suspect fled the vehicle on foot and was later found in a nearby backyard
Additional law enforcement agencies responded to the scene
shots were exchanged again between the suspect and officers
The man was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital
The Officer Involved Critical Incident team had arrived on the scene by 3:15 a.m
the officers involved were placed on administrative leave
Authorities said the area would remain closed through the morning as the investigation continued
we covered a shooting by Glenmoor baseball field in South Jordan that left one man dead
and his family says they still don’t know what exactly happened
"It was devastating news that no family wants to hear,” said Bryan Gutierrez
In June of last year
South Jordan police said they got a call about a suspicious person looking through car windows
They tried to de-escalate the situation when he pointed a knife at officers
His family just wants to know what exactly led up to the shooting and said they’ve been left in the dark
"We don’t know why South Jordan police decided it was the best idea to put holes through my loved one,” said Gutierrez
That’s kind of why I’m here - we want answers,” said Gutierrez
We did reach out to South Jordan police and they shared a statement with us:
“The City of South Jordan remains committed to transparency regarding the Officer Involved Critical Incident involving South Jordan Police Officers that occurred in June 2024
The investigation by the West Jordan lead Protocol Team concluded in August and was turned over to the Salt Lake County District Attorney for review
the City and family continue to await the conclusion of the District Attorney’s review and investigation
As per established protocol and Utah statute
records including body-worn camera footage may not be released until the District Attorney makes a determination regarding the legality of the use of force.”
The Salt Lake County District Attorney's office says they are working on the case, and it is listed on their website here
But they don’t have a timeline of when the findings will be released
all dead ends - all just grief and hurt and pain
that’s what my family is going through,” said Gutierrez
The family had a banner hanging there and a memorial set up at the park — everything was taken away
"We don’t know if that was the direction of the city
we don’t know if that was just a resident acting on their own accord
now we have stolen property of what was there to remember him,” added Gutierrez
he loved Lord of the Rings,” added Gutierrez
Hoping to get answers soon and find a way to honor their loved one too
no one can tell us why this is taking so long
Utah (KUTV) — It's been over three months since a deadly explosion rocked a South Jordan neighborhood
taking the life of 15-year-old Logan Hansen
While preliminary investigations have linked the blast to a gas leak in the area
the site of the explosion still seemingly looks the same as it was when the explosion occurred
A mound of rubble and remnants of what was once a home continues to stand as a tragic reminder of the lives forever changed
At the site and throughout the neighborhood are blue ribbons to remember Logan — the same ones that went up in November
Dried flowers and the ribbons serve as a visual memorial for the young teen
A closer look at the scene reveals a mangled snow blower
piles of burnt wood and the devastation left in the wake of the explosion
KUTV reached out to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)
A spokesperson said NTSB does not conduct clean up and doesn't have jurisdiction over the cleanup
Further information from the City of South Jordan explained that the responsibility for the cleanup typically falls to the property owner and their insurance company
who has been involved in the investigation
A statement from the gas company was received:
“This site is private property and we are not privy to the timeline for cleanup
Those questions would have to be directed to the insurance company
Enbridge is committed to assisting the NTSB with a full and thorough investigation
A sign at the site was posted by an insurance company clearly stating that the property is still under investigation and warning against any alterations or removals of materials without approval from the insurance company
As the community continues to heal from the tragedy
the wait for cleanup and closure remains uncertain
SOUTH JORDAN — South Jordan police are looking for a driver involved in a hit-and-run that was caught on camera Friday morning
Video shows a silver truck plowed into a parked white truck about 6:30 a.m
Police say the driver of the silver truck then pulled back and drove away from the scene
It appears a neighbor drove up shortly after the crash and saw the silver truck leaving
They called 911 with a description and followed the truck
but lost it on northbound Bangerter Highway
In a Facebook post from the South Jordan Police Department
the truck is described as a silver Dodge Ram 2500
Scott Anderson told KSL his Chevy truck is the one that got hit
Anderson said he went outside and discovered his truck 30 feet down the street from where it had been parked
"It was just crazy to think that someone could nail your car and drive off," he said
Anderson said damage to his truck is estimated at $8,000
Scott Anderson says his truck has about $8,000 worth of damage after it was involved in a hit-and-run Monday while parked in South Jordan

SOUTH JORDAN — The source of a gas leak that caused a South Jordan house to explode
resulting in the death of a 15-year-old boy
was a gas line located about 150 feet northeast of the home
The National Transportation Safety Board on Wednesday released a preliminary report on the Nov. 6 explosion and fire. On that day, an explosion was reported at a house at 10593 S. 3210 West in South Jordan. Logan Hansen, a student at Bingham High School
was found dead inside the home about seven hours later
Enbridge Gas Utah, which acquired Dominion Energy in June, located the gas leak believed to have caused the explosion on Nov
A back door from the home lays in the street behind the home as firefighters respond to an explosion at a home in South Jordan on Nov
Deseret News)"Enbridge found a leak about 150 feet northeast of the home on a 4-inch diameter Aldyl A natural gas main it owned and operated
The Aldyl A main was manufactured and installed in 1976," the report states
The leak was located under the median of 3200 West
The safety board noted an Aldyl A pipe "is the trademarked name of a polyethylene plastic gas pipeline product that was manufactured by the DuPont Chemical Company using a proprietary polymer resin. It is no longer manufactured or used in new pipelines."
According to findings by the company Exponent
which bills itself as a "premium global engineering and scientific consulting firm" since 1967
"Aldyl A polyethylene pipe is now being identified and removed in several states due to its potential vulnerabilities." Those vulnerabilities include "rapid crack propagation
ductile rupture and slow crack growth."
The National Transportation Safety Board report states pressure in that pipe was operating below the legal maximum level at the time of the explosion
"Enbridge detected subsurface gas between the main and two neighboring residences
including the accident home and the home immediately to the north
The subsurface gas extended from the main to the backyard and front yard of each home
reaching about 250 feet from the leak," according to the report
The investigation by the agency — which is known for investigating crashes involving aircraft
but also watches over the transportation of natural gas — is ongoing and will now look at Enbridge's integrity management program and pipeline safety management system
"Our company has been a part of the Utah community for over 95 years and public safety is always our top priority
We are deeply saddened by this event and our hearts and prayers go out to the Hansen family for their tragic loss
NTSB has published its preliminary report and while federal regulations prohibit us from commenting on the ongoing investigation
we remain committed to continuing to contribute to the investigation."
The agency also recommends all residences have natural gas alarms or methane detectors
South Jordan city administrators reacted to the report in a prepared statement
"We know this news may raise questions and concerns about the safety of the transmission lines in our community and how it may relate to your own home and we want residents to feel safe
Our public safety team is working closely with residents in the immediately affected neighborhood to share information and provide some additional testing," the city stated while also encouraging residents to get natural gas detectors in their homes
Utah — The Utah Transit Authority officially opened the city’s new Trax Red Line downtown station Wednesday
sitting adjacent to the Salt Lake Bees new stadium scheduled to open in a couple of weeks
when the ceremonial first train stopped at the new station
the Bees mascot Bumble was the first one off the train
South Jordan Mayor Dawn Ramsey pointed out that now that the city has a total of three Trax stations
it really connects with what’s happening in South Jordan with downtown and you can use now our public transit system between Trax and Frontrunner to get anywhere you want to go
The new station is right in the middle of the Daybreak community
and in talking with people who live in the development
Natalie Doty said the new station will make life easier for her significant other
“My husband actually works downtown in Salt Lake some days and we’ve been talking about how getting to the other Trax can be kind of difficult
Fellow Daybreak resident Mufi Hunt who says he grew up in Salt Lake City
added he likes the nearby option of not having to drive to the big city
so it’ll be nice to skip all that and just hop on the Trax,” said Hunt
more people are expected to converge on the Daybreak area
but Doty believes city officials are prepared for the added activity in the area
“People jumping on the train and if they’re walking around the neighborhood that could just bring some unsettledness to the families here
but I am confident that they’re monitoring that and it’s already on their agenda,’ said Doty
And now that the new Trax station is open for business
Mayor Ramsey wasn’t shy about promoting why taking the light rail train is the way to go if you’re on the go
“Providing options for folks to get around to get where they need to be
