Preseason All-Big 12 honoree Colin Brueggemann had the big hit in the early innings with a two-run homer in the third inning
The Knights (24-21, 6-16 Big 12) looked to respond in the top of fourth by getting two runners aboard with two outs. Lex Boedicker then drove a ball to deep left center

Oklahoma State added to its lead with three more home runs over the next two innings to make it 9-0
Brock Thompson hit a solo shot in the fourth and a two-run homer in the fifth
while Brueggemann also hit out his second round tripper of the game with a solo homer in the fifth

— The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) is patrolling Stillwater and surrounding areas this weekend with a focus on stopping impaired drivers
is taking place in Stillwater this weekend
OHP is reminding drivers that driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol puts lives at risk
the legal limit is 0.02 Blood Alcohol Concentration
meaning any measurable amount of alcohol can result in a DUI
"We’re not here to ruin the fun — we’re here to prevent the tragedies we see far too often," OHP said in a Facebook post
"Make smart choices and help keep Calf Fry safe for everyone."
it's been an even busier and more musical spring than usual in Stillwater
But there's always room for another Red Dirt music showcase in Stillwater, the birthplace of the beloved homegrown Oklahoma music scene
"It's all been fun this spring. ... The music folk in Stillwater have been working hard, and hopefully the folks that are coming for this reunion will feel the love, too," said Katie Dale, executive director of the Red Dirt Relief Fund
For the 14th year, the nonprofit Red Dirt Relief Fund is bringing together 70 Oklahoma songwriters at multiple Stillwater venues for the Bob Childers’ Gypsy Cafe music festival
Here's what to know about the 2025 Bob Childers’ Gypsy Cafe:
Doors open for the acoustic music showcase at 12:30 p.m
and the event will feature music at four Stillwater venues:
With the venues for this year's event, festival organizers have created a grid to help attendees plan the best way to see as many sets as possible
A free shuttle will run in a loop to the four venues from noon to 7 p.m
The fest will end with the 7:35 p.m. all-lineup Family Jam Finale on the main stage outside Eskimo Joe's
The festival also will feature 15 Gypsy Cafe newcomers, as well as the winner of the 2025 Jimmy LaFave Songwriting Contest. Tulsa-based singer-songwriter Jared Hard, the 2025 winner, will receive his $1,000 prize and perform alongside Mike Hosty and Kayla Ray at 4:15 p.m
we have new voices and a lot of young and up-and-coming folks that we're excited to hear and welcome to the Gypsy Cafe," Dale said
Ahead of the Family Jam Finale at 7:35 p.m. on the main stage, the late Don Morris will be honored with the festival's annual Restless Spirit Award
was a mainstay in the Tulsa music scene after starting the Science Project band with Tom Skinner and Gene Williams in 2000
playing bass for the Brandon Jenkins Band and the Red Dirt Rangers
It has been given every year since to "a musician who has impacted the Oklahoma music community in a spirit akin to Childers" at the festival
The Restless Spirit Award will be presented to Morris’ partner
by Science Project's Brad James and Red Dirt Rangers John Cooper and Brad Piccolo
The Red Dirt Relief Fund was founded in 2012 using the ticket proceeds of the first Gypsy Cafe festival, which was organized in Stillwater in 2011
Since, the nonprofit has granted more than $976,000 in emergency assistance to more than 800 Oklahoma music professionals in all genres and jobs across the state
including more than $300,000 to those facing venue closings and gig cancellations during the pandemic
"We believe we're going to hit the million-dollar mark this year in emergency financial assistance provided to music professionals in the state
"But it's also inspiring to think that the community has embraced this cause in the way it has and has funded and valued the work of the people making music in our state
we're glad that we have been able to provide this and also look forward to hopefully continuing to build programs that support music makers in our state."
which are good for entry to all festival venues

Prime Video and Greg Berlanti are adapting writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Ramon Perez's Image Comics comic book Stillwater for a series
During a profile of writer/producer Greg Berlanti, Deadline Hollywood dropped some exclusive news that fans of writer Chip Zdarsky
and colorist Mike Spicer's Image Comics comic book series
Prime Video has picked up the series adaptation stemming from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros
The horror thriller is being adapted by co-writers Berlanti and Carly Wray (HBO's Watchmen)
with Skybound Entertainment (The Walking Dead) also producing
the comic book series sets its narrative spotlight on unemployed ex-con Daniel West
who receives a mysterious letter informing him that a distant relative had passed and he was set to receive a pretty sizeable inheritance
he's going to have to head to the small town of Stillwater – and since the name of the town is the same as the comic book series
you can imagine that Stillwater isn't like a lot of other towns
the thing is that folks in the town – they don't die
And when a town is harboring a secret like that
you can only imagine what it would be willing to do to keep that secret a secret
were like a huge influence on me when I was younger
and because it delved into the ideas of immortality and how it just wasn't as cool as you know
like just the idea of exploring the concept of immortality
Isn't that cool?" Zdarsky shared during a September 2021 interview about the comic book series
noting how Anne Rice's novels influenced their work
Skybound Entertainment founders Robert Kirkman and David Alpert
and Chip Zdarsky will serve as executive producers
and President Leigh London Redman will executive-produce on behalf of Berlanti Productions
Executive Jonathan Gabay will also serve as executive producers
A 43-year-old man was recovered from Boomer Lake in Stillwater on Tuesday
Stillwater Police said William Whittington
Police responded to the area of North Husband Street to investigate and asked residents to avoid the area
"This case is open and under investigation
The preliminary investigation does not indicate foul play is involved," Stillwater Police said
Christian Hans is a Digital Content Producer for News 9
He joined News 9 full-time in July of 2022 after graduating from the University of Oklahoma
\"This case is open and under investigation
The preliminary investigation does not indicate foul play is involved,\" Stillwater Police said
"About half of all these songs probably got written while I lived in this town — or at least a whole bunch of them did," Felker said from the vast stage constructed in the east end zone of the Oklahoma State University football stadium
"This is a pretty neat town to get to play some music in and get to learn how to play in the bars
(I) never thought we'd be able to play to this many folks around here."
and it was people enjoying music and having a good time
"This is Stillwater: We throw parties; it's what we do
But we're really pleased with what was an incredible weekend for Oklahoma State University and for the Stillwater community."
It's unlikely they'll be the last concerts at the OSU stadium
"I think it's unmistakable to say that the proof of concept worked
and so I think from here we'll take time and really evaluate those future opportunities," he said
"I think that we're capable of doing most anything ... but I do think that there was an element of lightning in a bottle here. And the reason why I would say that is because of people's affinity for Cross Canadian Ragweed ..
and having what really amounted to a reunion event in their hometown."
Although data is still coming in related to the event's economic and community impact
Lang said the concerts brought in thousands of people who had never been to OSU or Stillwater before
"Only about 30% of the people who bought tickets had any connection to Oklahoma State, so it wasn't just OSU fans coming to listen to Cross Canadian Ragweed," Lang said. "These are people from all over that came here, because this is the home, really, of Red Dirt music."
said it was gratifying to host one of the biggest events in the history of the homegrown genre and have it go so smoothly
it proved Boone Pickens Stadium is not just for football: We can host an extremely successful event
and I look forward to a lot more live music events in the future," she said
"Our tagline is 'America's friendliest college town.' And I think
if you look at all of the comments that are made on social media and the emails that we're receiving
from the people working at the stadium to where they went to eat to the front desk clerk at the hotels
They just had a really welcoming experience
and I think that really does motivate people to want to make the trip back."
That Stillwater handled the massive influx of music fans so smoothly
is a testament to the six months of meticulous preparations on the part of the entire community
"We've been meeting for months about everything from traffic flow to messaging to everything we could come up with. That's why we spent so much time on our landing page
to make sure visitors had a place to go to figure (it all) out
"We've been encouraging local businesses to let us know and encouraging them to have extended hours
have a special that's just unique to the event
And we had businesses that have never really engaged in the past all in
so it was fun to see a lot more engagement."
Although she doesn't yet have numbers on the economic impact generated by "The Boys from Oklahoma" concerts
Morrison said "I would expect it's going to be really noticeable."
With the massive stage cutting into some of the available seating
the shows couldn't accommodate as many attendees as sold-out OSU home football games can
"It did have a lot of the same feel as a home football game
"There's going to definitely be a jump, because it's not just sales tax, but it's also the visitor tax and the fact that the hotels (were full) and all of those short-term rentals and the restaurants
I would expect it would be maybe not exactly what four home football games are
but I would say it's going to be comparable."
Stillwater Mayor Will Joyce said "The Boys from Oklahoma" stadium shows benefited from nearly perfect spring weather
an excellent lineup of beloved bands and the singular attraction of Ragweed's long-awaited reunion
He said he expects the tax and economic impact will add to what is already typically a robust spring in Stillwater, with the upcoming Tumbleweed Calf Fry music festival, OSU spring commencement and the state Special Olympics Summer Games
"Every indication is that it will be a good tax impact for us as a city
Every hotel room and Airbnb in town was fully booked for the event for multiple nights
"I spoke to a lot of retailers and restaurateurs in town
Joyce said he wouldn't be surprised to see the tax revenue be 25% to 50% higher than normal for an April
That's how cities of Oklahoma pay for road repair and pay for police salaries and fire trucks and all kinds of other stuff
"I would characterize it as wildly successful
And I'm sure we will be talking with the university and with other folks in town about what something on a regular basis could look like
or at least a repeat performance of some kind."
The Salty Bronc will be rocking this Wednesday with a song swap performance from Emma Long and Reagon Carter
Come out at 6:30 for a great show and a great night
Local businesses organized benefit concerts
Support also arrived from downtown Boston
Avery Murray struck out 11 batters for Stillwater baseball as it held on to beat Hoosic Valley 5-4
breaking a 3-3 tie at the top of the final inning for a Wasaren League victory
A solo homer was one of Ryan Ingber’s two hits in a 5-1 win over Hoosick Falls
Joey Skiff and Will Weber also had two runs and an RBI each in the effort
while Calvin Curtis pitched all seven innings to the tune of five strikeouts

Stillwater is preparing to host a 4-day concert event at Boone Pickens Stadium on the Oklahoma State University campus
“The Boys from Oklahoma” is a series of concerts featuring notable red dirt country music legends who got their starts in Stillwater
The most notable is Cross Canadian Ragweed
who has not performed together since their breakup in 2010
Crews inside Boone Pickens Stadium are hard at work transforming the stadium into a concert venue
“The stage took shape over the weekend and setup really continues,” Gavin Lang
OSU Associate Athletic Director of Communications said
A stage and floor seating were added to the field
allowing the venue to hold 45,000 fans per night for the 4-night event
“The event was initially designed to be a Saturday night only concert
you for it that a second show was added on Friday
The demand continued to be just outrageous
and so additional shows Thursday and Sunday were built in,” Lang said
bringing the total to more than 180,000 tickets sold for the event
And the City of Stillwater is preparing for even more people to flood the town
“Boys from Oklahoma” is a reference to a popular song by the band
who got their start playing in Stillwater bars
and many fans thought they would never reunite
OSU officials involved in the planning process for the concert event said the band knew the reunion had to happen in Stillwater
but now you get to share it with your kids
and it's like a whole new generation,” Lang said
The other bands appearing include Turnpike Troubadours
All the bands performing have ties to Oklahoma
“I love that these musicians are so loyal to the red dirt music in their Stillwater roots,” Morrison said

Thomas was found and arrested in Oklahoma City
He was taken to the SPD jail and will be transferred to the Payne County jail

The Boys From Oklahoma concert series wrapped up night one in Stillwater on Thursday
Fans came out in full force to see performances from Red Dirt pioneers The Turnpike Troubadours and Cross Canadian Ragweed

and general news updates from News on 6 delivered right to your inbox
As the excitement and crowd numbers heightened for “The Boys from Oklahoma” concerts at Oklahoma State University, Visit Stillwater President and CEO Cristy Morrison looked to the heavens for answers
“We contacted Texas cities along the full eclipse and asked them what they wish they had done that they didn't do
And the main thing was the ATM machines and the petroleum
Don't forget to have your petroleum companies refill — a lot.'”
After six months of preparations, what’s believed to be the biggest concert event in state history gets underway Thursday at Boone Pickens Stadium
“You're talking about the kind of response that would be normally reserved for only a Garth Brooks or a Taylor Swift
… There's going to be a lot of people coming in from out of state and from all over the place.”
But the daunting task of hosting crowds of that size for four straight days has kept business owners, law enforcement and community leaders busily preparing for months
"It's a homecoming and a game day four days in a row. Stillwater's never seen anything like it," said Vernon Wilson, owner of Bad Brad's Bar-B-Q in Stillwater.
"There's going to be a ton of people without tickets coming to town
We've just never had 43,000 (people come to a) ticketed event four days in a row," Morrison said
When the members of Ragweed announced in October that they were reuniting for a show in the college town where they came of age
the demand for tickets was "mind-boggling,” Lang said
with 230,000 people registering for presale tickets
With about 183,000 tickets snapped up in five and a half hours
all four OSU dates sold out over two presales last fall — with 90,000 people still left in the queue who never got the chance to buy
or if they did get tickets but they only have tickets for one of the four shows
the energy level is going to be so amazing in Stillwater
people will want to stick around — and then you go and see what these other shows are about as well,” Lang said
“This is really going to be one of the most special things to ever come through.”
With its status as the birthplace of Red Dirt music and as a full-fledged college town, Stillwater boasts an array of bars, pubs and venues that host live music on any given week
all-ages live acoustic music showcase Thursday-Sunday outside with a full bar
"We've got a neat history with this lineup. ... Each one of these lead singers played here acoustically before they even had bands," said Eskimo Joe’s General Manager Tim Holland
"Music is a big part of the fabric of this place and part of our legacy."
and I'm excited for all the fans to get to see them — for all the people that never thought they'd see them again and then the kids who have maybe grown up listening to their music and never thought they'd have a chance to see them live
At The Salty Bronc Saloon, the live music lineup Thursday-Sunday includes Dylan Stewart
"We'll have music throughout the day. ... We're going to have to have extra staff. We're shutting our parking lot down during 'Boys from Oklahoma,' and we'll have two full-service bars outside, and then, of course, our big one on the inside," said Salty Bronc co-owner Melissa Hunter
Participating in Stillwater Strong as well as organizing his own benefit, Stillwater Rising, which raised $40,000 for fire relief, helped Wilson and his crew at Bad Brad's get ready for this week's shows
The restaurant will even be open on Sunday
It was actully a really nice testing of the waters of how that's going to be
because we don't normally run a buffet like that
But we will have to (this) weekend to get everybody fed," Wilson said
"We're bringing in a 2,400-square-foot tent and 200 extra tables and chairs for 200 people
While live music plays outside, Eskimo Joe’s is going to its game-day menu with open seating inside during "The Boys from Oklahoma" concerts
“We’ve been thinking about groceries and beer and ice and restrooms and all the things and the impact of something like this over four days
We've just never had to think in this type of scale
and how we're going to keep up,” Holland said
“We definitely don't have anything to compare it to where it’s more than one day
is going back to its old 24-hour schedule during the four-day Red Dirt extravaganza
That’s why she and her staff were looking to Texas towns that saw as many as 140,000 people pour in last year for the total solar eclipse
“We're making sure that we learn from other people's mistakes
and we try to head them off and make sure that doesn't happen here,” she said
and we're really excited to be able to spotlight the community."
said he’s not sure if the school or city will ever see an event quite like this one again
… It's going to be one of those things that people talk about for decades and for the rest of their lives,” he said

“That’ll be stocked all the way to the top,” said the manager of the Dirty Rooster
The Dirty Rooster is the newest bar on The Strip near campus
This week is already bringing back old memories for Jackson
Great Divide—it was before the Troubadours were even together—playing in all the local bars here on The Strip,” he said
Jackson says the last two weeks have been centered around getting ready to serve the massive crowds
“You think of a homecoming game when there’s 200,000 people here
and you plan on that for five nights in a row,” he said
Cristy Morrison with Visit Stillwater knows the legacy of these artists and how red dirt music is ingrained in the town’s identity
She thinks this event will be the biggest she’s seen in her 30 years on the job
25 different states of people coming in,” she said
“Folks that went to college here that want to come back
they’re having their own little mini reunions.”
Morrison has sent a heads-up to businesses around town
telling them to stock up on extra inventory
She says it will be hard to find a hotel room within a 60-mile radius of campus because of the large crowds
The first night kicks off inside Boone Pickens Stadium on Thursday
