Hemmingway said events such as the Strawberry Festival allow students to witness growth and see the importance of nature to the spirit
which connects to student engagement with Phoenix Free
“Nature is so healing to people,” Hemmingway said

There's nothing better than a fresh strawberry
consider heading to the strawberry patches to pick up a fresh pint
Strawberries are able to grow all around the Volunteer State, and there are more than 40 farms around the region, primarily concentrated in Middle Tennessee
where you can participate in a U-Pick program
Here's everything you need to know about U-Pick strawberries in Tennessee
While California and Florida are generally the most well-known for strawberries
Strawberry season begins in mid-April and typically lasts four to six weeks
The strawberry season should last through early June
There are plenty of places to pick strawberries all across the state
Farms are located in 30 of Tennessee's 98 counties
Be sure to check with your local farm for hours and the availability of fruit

According to Pick Tennessee Products, the following fruits and veggies are in season for the months of April and May in Tennessee
Tennessee Connect Reporter Diana Leyva contributed to this report
— Though many PA growers are reporting that their strawberry plantings are looking better than they expected
There are many things to consider when sorting out potential causes of poor growth at this time of the year
If your plants did not grow well last fall
issues then could still be the cause of poor growth now
strawberry plug plants were diagnosed with several diseases
including Neopestalotiopsis mainly in ‘Ruby June’ and also in ‘Chandler’
anthracnose crown rot in ‘Chandler’
Phytophthora crown rot in ‘Malwina’ and ‘Chandler’
and angular leaf spot in ‘Malwina’
With Neopestalotiopsis or anthracnose crown rot
plants grew poorly after planting and many of them (10 to 50%) died during the fall
With Phytophthora crown rot and angular leaf spot (a bacterial disease
plants here and there wilted and collapsed
but this wasn’t obvious until a couple of months after planting
Powdery mildew was common in ‘Galletta’ and ‘Ruby June’
While some problems are found mostly in certain varieties
but didn’t look so great this spring
remember that we had our first “normal” winter in a long time with cold temperatures
and winter protection with row covers or straw was definitely needed to avoid winter injury to the crowns and leaf dessication from the wind
Winter injury in the crown will appear as a more consistent or diffused color in the crown in mild cases
and “corkiness” or complete death of the crown in severe cases
whereas there is usually a noticeable change in color from healthy cream to brown or reddish-brown with diseases
Leaf dessication can be differentiated from leaf diseases as leaves will often be consistently dry
and crispy around the edges of most leaves with dessication
and this will show up across a large area of the planting
Dessication is possible even in well-watered plantings because once the soil freezes
the roots can’t take up water to replace what the leaves have lost
many growers reported that plants got off to a slow start
but that is normal in springs where soil temperatures remain cold – strawberry plants just don’t grow that fast until the soil warms up
Winter injury and “traditional” diseases (Botrytis
Phomopsis) have been the main causes of symptoms in matted-row plantings and plasticulture plantings of “matted-row” varieties in PA thus far
it is helpful to cut through several plant crowns from top to bottom
You can often tell more by cutting the crowns in this way rather than cutting the crown crosswise

Oregon State University researchers report that studies conducted at the university have confirmed plastic tunnel systems can significantly extend the growing season and boost the percentage of marketable yields for Oregon strawberries
Because the tunnels help protect strawberry plants from rain and cold
OSU researchers believe this could provide growers with new tools to lengthen the strawberry harvest window
The team tested two popular types of day-neutral strawberries
‘Albion’ and ‘Seascape,’ planted in both fall and spring
The plants were grown using organic methods and carefully managed to keep pests under control
Researchers compared four growing setups: low tunnels
Results showed that strawberries grown under low tunnels had the highest amount of marketable fruit
low tunnels required more frequent adjustments but are less expensive
ranging from about $42 to $156 per 100-foot row
High tunnels offered similar yield benefits with less daily labor but are significantly more costly
"There is a great potential for fresh market strawberry production in Oregon
where most of the strawberry harvest is processed rather than sold whole," the university said
assistant professor of practice in the Department of Horticulture in the College of Agricultural Sciences
there’s an opportunity for Oregon growers to fill that market
"A lot of fruit is imported from out of state and is harvested at 75% ripeness
We will never compete with the scale of strawberry production in California
but we can produce a great-tasting and fresh Oregon berry that’s available in local markets more than just a few weeks in the summer," she added

They continue to occupy my thoughts even months later
What’s next on the King’s agenda
I heard whispers of a new drink coming for the hot summer months; whispers of a fruity
frozen concoction that could be topped with tiny
and I sped straight to the drive-thru for a taste
I’d expect no less from this kind of beverage
and I imagine it will be such a sugary relief on hot summer days
The consistency is similar to the Icee I used to slurp at movie theaters as a kid—not so frozen that it won’t suck up through your straw
but just enough to make it thick so you let it melt on your tongue
the frozen strawberry drink hit like nostalgia
The syrup was strawberry to the umpteenth degree
and it reminded me of the Fla-vor-Ice tubes I used to crunch on when I was younger
and you’ve got an intensely saccharine experience
so this won’t be something I’ll order daily
It’s full of flavor with a unique texture combo that will likely find a foothold in many people’s fast-food agendas (especially the under-12 age group)
it complements a Texas Double Whopper beautifully
We asked Burger King how long the Frozen Strawberry drink would be on the menu and were told: “for a limited time!”
but we imagine it will stick around through the better part of summer
The strawberry lover in you will be ecstatic

Van Nuys News Press
Covering the San Fernando Valley & the Greater Los Angeles area
— Oregon State University researchers have shown the state’s strawberry producers how they can increase their yields and produce healthier fruit
Research conducted at OSU’s North Willamette Research and Extension Center (NWREC) has confirmed that plastic tunnel systems — both low and high tunnels — can significantly extend the growing season and boost the percent of marketable yields for day-neutral strawberries in Oregon
High and low tunnels help protect strawberry plants from rain and cold
raise temperatures around the plants and extend the growing season
“We hope we can provide growers with some tools they can use to extend their harvest season to produce fruit outside of the typical season when competition is high and to help meet the market demand for fresh strawberries grown locally in Oregon."
Oregon has long focused on processed June-bearing strawberries
but with growing demand for fresh fruit and increased grower interest
there's an opportunity for Oregon growers to meet local demand
an Extension commercial and community horticulturist who leads the OSU Extension Berry Initiative
Field trials at NWREC and other locations had previously shown that low tunnels extend the strawberry season for day-neutral cultivars
results from a more extensive 2021–2023 trial have confirmed and expanded those findings
The trial evaluated the growth and production of day-neutral strawberries under low tunnels
double tunnels (low tunnel under high tunnel)
“We hope we can provide growers with some tools they can use to extend their harvest season to produce fruit outside of the typical season when competition is high and to help meet the market demand for fresh strawberries grown locally in Oregon,” said Chernoh
an assistant professor of practice in the Department of Horticulture in the College of Agricultural Sciences
There is a great potential for fresh market strawberry production in Oregon
where most of the strawberry harvest is processed rather than sold whole
“There’s an opportunity for Oregon growers to fill that market,” she said
“A lot of fruit is imported from out of state and is harvested at 75% ripeness
but we can produce a great-tasting and fresh Oregon berry that’s available in local markets more than just a few weeks in the summer.”
The tunnel research began at NWREC in fall 2021. Researchers tested two popular types of day-neutral strawberries, ‘Albion’ and ‘Seascape,’ planted in both the fall and spring. The plants were grown using organic methods and carefully managed to keep pests [EC1] [EC2] under control
They compared four growing setups: low tunnels
The results showed that strawberries grown under low tunnels had the highest amount of marketable fruit
‘Albion’ produced better results overall — it gave more fruit
Temperatures inside each tunnel were tracked every hour
and strawberries were picked twice a week when they were at least three-quarters ripe
One challenge in the study came during the second year when a common soil disease affected the plants and influenced some of the results
The study focused on season extension techniques adaptable to various farm sizes
While low tunnels required more frequent adjustments
high tunnels offered similar yield benefits with less daily labor
cost is an important factor when deciding whether to use tunnels
with prices ranging from about $42 to $156 per 100-foot row
and bungee cords costs around $122 per 100 feet
One example — a tunnel that’s 100 feet long and 40 feet wide — costs nearly $6,900 to build
That works out to about $1,718 per 100-foot row
though this can drop to around $1,145 if more rows are added
they may last longer and require less day-to-day maintenance
which could make them a better investment over time
Chernoh co-authored the OSU Extension publication Low Tunnels for Season Extension in Oregon: Design, Construction and Costs
which provides practical guidance based on research conducted at NWREC
The research was funded by the Oregon Legislature Berry Initiative and Northwest Center for Small Fruits Research
The OSU Extension Berry Initiative has been supported by the Oregon Legislature since 2017

Costco's ridiculously popular strawberry streusel cheesecake is a spring sensation
Cheesecake seems to make its way onto every dessert menu, which I’m not mad about—because it’s something I don’t often make from scratch. It can be time-consuming to bake, and more expensive because of the cost of eggs
Costco is well known for its giant cheesecakes
so you never know what you’ll find in the bakery section
The latest springy iteration is a strawberry streusel cheesecake
and customers can’t get enough of it
we’ll take any excuse to eat dessert for breakfast
it tastes like everything we love about cheesecake and a breakfast pastry
It’s an impressive 4-1/2 pounds of dessert magic selling for $22.99
Figuring this will serve upward of 16 people
Plenty of Costco shoppers have commented on Reddit about how irresistible this cheesecake is
“There goes my diet,” with a wink and not much regret
several posts raved about the fact that this dessert wasn’t overly sweet
a dessert that doesn’t make you feel like you’re getting a cavity is always a win
Costco is notoriously secretive about how long products like this will stay on store shelves
so it’s hard to say when this cheesecake will be replaced
I recommend making a Costco trip before time runs out

Four strawberry farmers have secured $43 million in financing from the Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) to improve and expand their production
Their success stories were highlighted at the Strawberry Cluster Open Day
The four farms are Synergy Business Solutions
expressed satisfaction that the government
is providing funding for farmers who want to invest in agriculture
The four farmers used the funds to conduct a study tour in California to explore global best practices; develop a technology package suited to Jamaican growing conditions; construct new greenhouses and retrofit existing ones with advanced solar-powered cooling systems; and introduce a high-yield strawberry variety that has adapted well to Jamaica's climatic conditions
David Lowe as the new Head of the DBJ was agriculture-related
where we signed a document with the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) and the DBJ
We are going to train farmers in financial literacy and
train extension officers who can go out in the field to train farmers in the fundamentals of financial literacy," Mr
farmers would be able to access financing with a registered business and a business plan
He noted that meetings had been held with the DBJ to ensure that capital was not only available but accessible and at a cost that would provide farmers with good returns on their investment
"We have already decided that we would meet quarterly to make this happen
Today is a sign that we already have some of the models that can make this happen
We have advised farmers to organize themselves into groups because it is much easier to get help as a cluster than going it alone," the Minister said
said with Jamaica importing millions of dollars' worth of strawberries annually
"we are on the path to import substitution."
"It is important to us when we put forward solutions and tools that allow clusters like this to grow and make an impact
we see that the things that come from this (strawberry) are not just limited to jams
and preserves but also in the nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries—two very high-value spin-offs that we need to be thinking of," Dr
He assured the farmers that the DBJ would be happy to partner with them in the next stage of their development
The capital that supported the cluster came through the Boosting Innovation
and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem (BIGEE) program

seed-stippled strawberry jam was as hot pink as a flamingo pool float
a physics-defying transfiguration of the sweetest strawberries I’ve ever eaten
So when a little retail menu accompanied the check
My server went down to the restaurant basement and returned with an 8-ounce glass jar smoked in frost: “Freezer jelly,” Elwood’s chef-owner Adam Diltz explained when I complimented him on its vibrancy
we were going to use it to make the real stuff
potentially poisonous if you don’t do it right—these were preserves with stakes
All it took was a dab of Diltz’s loose magenta jam on a biscuit to annihilate all my convictions
Diltz and his younger brother Toby grew up immersed in the foodways of the Pennsylvania Dutch
the catchall for the German-speaking immigrants who fled to the state starting in the late 1600s to escape religious persecution
the Amish and Mennonite communities who live in and around Lancaster County in South Central Pennsylvania
Common ground between these religious communities and the secular people of the Pennsylvania Dutch lineage was found in their recipe collections: chicken and ham pot pies
and endless jars of preserved produce necessary for farm-centric living
Mel Ortiz (Courtesy Blind Pig Kitchen)It may not be as old as hot water bath canning
but freezing was the preferred process for preserving peak-season fruit on Diltz’s great-grandparents’ farm in Hetlerville
worked metal for freight train cars at the Berwick Forge
the Diltz brothers would forage wild raspberries and Concord grapes or go to the U-pick farm to collect strawberries for their great-grandmother
“We would wind up eating half of them,” Diltz told me
“Grammy Oley would make her strawberry shortcake on biscuits with strawberry freezer jelly.”
“When you put the work into growing fruit the right way
and the freezer jam is the only way to do that.”
The dining room at Blind Pig Kitchen in Bloomsburg
Courtesy Blind Pig Kitchen)The luminous strawberries in the freezer jam I had at Elwood were from Toby’s farm
He also likely made that particular batch of jam
No one actually seems to know which family member is responsible for which jar
but the recipe is nearly standard across the four generations
“I actually had to buy a second freezer,” Adam Diltz said—enough space to keep a year’s worth of jam properly chilled
I ate the first third on grainy toast and the second third off the back of a butter knife moments after finishing said toast. I waited a respectable two days before polishing off the rest of the jar

Last year, black cherry was the fruit of the season—nails and lips were drenched in the moody color
and pulse points spritzed with the juicy fruit’s aroma
the crown has been passed to the strawberry
Something is definitely in the air: At luxury LA grocer Erewhon
you can buy a single strawberry grown in the Tochigi Prefecture of Japan for $19
(Some say it’s actually worth the splurge.) By contrast
fruit from the cult brand Oishii—which translates to tasty in Japanese—is a steal: a box of Omakase Berries comes in at $15 for 11
And Flamingo Estate has brought back its bestselling Harry’s Berries collaboration

The trend has expanded beyond the world of gastronomy
with the strawberry becoming one of the most-searched fruits in the world of beauty—especially when it comes to perfume
She adds that the interest in strawberry perfumes has grown by 19.9% compared to last year
all you have to do is decide exactly how you want your strawberry scent served up
Riba adds that this shift will likely be mirrored in makeup trends, too, so you can expect to see a revival of beauty trends like 2023’s “Strawberry Girl” makeup.

Goshen College President Rebecca Stoltzfus offers regular and intimate reflections on campus
conversations she’s part of and higher education today
Last weekend, I had the privilege of making my final speech to our 2025 graduating class of seniors at our baccalaureate service (view photos from it here)
I will remember this class for their imagination
Here are a few of the thoughts I shared with them
Joy sets the table in small acts of beauty and hospitality
reminding us of global learning and all of the welcome and generosity we have experienced from host families
In my living room is a small statue that personifies Joy
Your weariness and anger and sorrow are also welcome at this table
There is an amazing turnaround that we can practice when we can’t find our way back to Joy’s table
Instead of focusing on the love we’re supposedly not getting
focus on the love that we are able to give
They are the vascular system of plants that transport water and other good stuff up and down the plant
Your xylem are taking the good love up from the soil and flowing them up where they can make fruit
And your phloem take all the good energy from the photosynthesis happening when sunlight hits your leaves and flow it back down to your roots
My point is that the system has to flow both ways
On those days when you feel that your phloem are letting you down
and you’re just not getting enough love and light
Wiggle your roots in the good soil and figure out how to send love up and out into the world
Kevin and I lived a couple of years in Indonesia while we were both working on my doctoral dissertation research
we began to talk about “strawberry moments” – our word for moments of delight or deep joy
We began to name them out loud to each other
We are on the traditional land of the Potawatomi and Miami Peoples past and present
are part of a world full of gifts simply scattered at your feet
asks how we should respond to the generosity of strawberries
And remember that wild strawberries are part of the gift economy of nature
The essence of the gift is that it creates a set of relationships
Our students graduate from Goshen College with a degree
The degrees we confer are valuable evidence of their accomplishment
And social connection is the strongest predictor of human happiness
Jesus spoke to his friends and students about vines and connectedness and joy
No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine
Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
So I created a playlist for this class of songs that remind me of everything we have talked about: Love and transformation and connection and joy
I had a lot of fun choosing these songs while thinking of our students
They have lifted me up in so many moments over the years they have been here
I wish them and you many strawberry moments

you might want to make a stranger out of Friendly's
originates from an East Coast chain of family-friendly restaurants
(That "Saturday Night Live" sketch with Lady Gaga that people online called Satanic was set in a Friendly's.) At its height
after a tumultuous period that saw the chain declare bankruptcy twice in fifteen years
there are barely over a hundred restaurants left
It still has its line of ice creams and desserts for grocery stores
There are plenty of people with nostalgic memories of Friendly's (including the person writing this article); still
that doesn't make its strawberry ice cream any better
With its cheerful red-and-white color scheme
and packaging proudly declaring that they've been "scooping since 1935," the unsuspecting ice cream enthusiast might get a carton of Friendly's strawberry ice cream
thinking they're about to tuck into something fresh
at least when it comes to strawberry ice cream
It certainly doesn't taste much like strawberry
almost chemical taste that lingers in a way that feels more lab-made than farm-fresh."
We were especially disappointed by the ice cream's texture. You see, ice cream typically has air incorporated during the churning process, lending it a lighter, fluffier texture than gelato
The problem is that certain penny-pinching ice cream makers
in an effort to stretch their solid ingredients as far as they can
will incorporate so much air that the ice cream becomes utterly insubstantial
Such is the case with Friendly's strawberry ice cream
which "melts quickly and lacks the rich mouthfeel that makes ice cream a treat." As if the chemical taste wasn't bad enough

Poteet – In the early spring here in the Lone Star State
there’s a cash crop that’s already blossoming in the fields of Poteet
Considering this section of our state is called the Strawberry Capital of Texas
you’d expect to see strawberry fields forever but if you want to pick your own
5 Cousins Strawberries is a good place to pluck out of the crowd
“You want to come look at this situation right here,” said Will Bates
“You may not ever see another one just like it.”
Will and his wife Ann have lived in Poteet since 1972 and they own the Five Cousins Strawberry Patch
“We made a career teaching school here in Poteet
“I don’t know that we started out to stay here
the seeds he sowed weren’t just strawberries
but also a family that turned him into a grandfather
Turns out this name defines Will’s Strawberry patch to a T
and we do this in order to encourage them to do some physical work and to take responsibility for what they do and make some decisions and stand by those decisions,” said Will
Running this strawberry patch isn’t just a chore for his grandkids either
“The money that’s generated from this patch goes into their college fund,” said Will
“That’s what we do with that money.”
“We love the fact that we have this opportunity,” said Josh Bates
and all this started when his daughter Hallie joined 4-H
“The crazy story about that is my dad and her came together on that,” said Josh
we got to make this amount of money.’ It’s nice that it pays for itself
giving them the opportunity to learn what it’s like to work on something together and come together and opportunity for people to come out and experience this outdoors and be part of nature
it’s no surprise that these kids are putting in some serious work
and they put 20,000 plants in the ground in three days,” said Will
“Old hardened field hands can do it pretty fast
at which point they’ll pick if we need them to pick and they take care of the barn
“They’ll go out and take people out and direct them on how to cut the strawberries
and this family is putting together a whole lot of fond memories out here in the strawberry fields
that’s the beauty of this whole thing is them getting to spend time with their grandfather and their grandmother and be out here together and it’s brought everybody together,” said Josh
“It’s built so much unity within our family
“These are a Ruby June variety,” explained Josh
“They’re characteristically a little smaller than other varieties
but they have a higher sugar content than probably any of the other varieties that we have out here
You pull it off and it’s ready to eat
We don’t have any pesticides or anything else that’s out here.”
Of course you could go into any grocery store and grab a box of berries
but there’s just something special about picking them for yourself
“The difference between our berries and the berries that you get at the store
the only difference is because the same varieties and everything like that
the difference is that these berries are really ripe,” said Will
you want to eat them or you want to process them
but don’t expect them to be around for very long.”
Having created a place where people want to come and pick is only part of this whole experience for the Bates
It’s creating joy and memories for them and for those who venture to this small strawberry patch in Poteet
“Never thought I’d be the guy growing strawberries in Poteet,” said Josh
“That’s not where I thought my life was headed

KFC is dusting off its Chicken & Waffles recipe and giving eaters another chance to try it out this spring
the chain is also introducing a dessert to further sweeten a meal — Strawberry & Crème Pie Poppers
Now that all this stuff is back on the table
The Takeout took both of them out to see where the truth lies in this double dip chew and review
Recommendations are based on firsthand impressions of promotional materials and products provided by the manufacturer
KFC is reintroducing Chicken & Waffles to its menu for a limited time run
The chicken offered in this pairing is the same old ones you can order anytime from KFC — tenders or fried chicken pieces
They come with a side of special Belgian Liege-style waffles
KFC is introducing another new flavor of its Poppers dessert line — Strawberry & Crème Pie
In its original run back in 2018, Bob Das, then Head Chef for KFC U.S. said
We went through 15 different variations before landing on our unique Belgian Liege-style waffle
which is sweeter and doughier than American-style waffles
The two combine seamlessly to create an extra delicious dish that KFC fans will love." They did love it
"We believe Chicken & Waffles is an American icon
juicy and freshly fried secret recipe chicken
and it's back on our menu just in time for Mother's Day!"
Chicken & Waffles returns to KFC's menu starting April 28
and along for the ride is a newbie dessert Strawberry & Crème Pie Poppers
These are limited time only items and will be available at participating nationwide KFC locations
Both can be ordered anytime KFC is open for business
or delivery can take place through KFC's app and website
Chicken & Waffles can be found many places within KFC's menu
including "The Latest" and "Combos," and Strawberry & Crème Pie Poppers can be found under the "Sides
There are several poultry-shaped options when ordering the Chicken & Waffles
You can order standard fried chicken pieces or Original Recipe Tenders
comes with a single Liege-style waffle and a cup of Mrs
Either iteration goes for the suggested retail price of $7
There are also options to turn them into combos
some with more pieces of chicken and waffles
there's the Chicken & Waffles Fan Favorites Box
which includes a four-piece set of fried chicken
and four syrups or other sauces dipping sauces of your choosing
That box runs at the suggested price of $25
A waffle and cup of syrup can be purchased à la carte for $1.99
Extra syrup or dip cups are always an option
The Strawberry & Crème Pie Poppers are available to order in a four or 10-piece set
and are most likely higher when ordered for delivery or third parties
Butterworth's syrup is a mélange of all kinds of syrup
and received contributions from the likes of salt
which adds the following to the totals: 110 calories
The Original Recipe Tenders starts with a boneless, skinless chicken breast meat, which is breaded and seasoned with salt, unspecified spices, nonfat milk solids, egg white solids, and garlic powder. It contains the common allergens gluten
A single Original Recipe Tender nets an eater 170 calories
there are the standard four pieces available — breast
Consult KFC's online nutritional guide for further information
An order of the Strawberry & Crème Pie Poppers nets an eater 70 Calories 70
7 grams of carbohydrates and 1 gram of protein
but it is rather thick-looking on closer inspection and mighty heavy to hold
with the waffle iron impressions well structured and cavernous
like it was just made (even if it probably wasn't)
What is most important right here and now is that these were no skimpy
I brought the waffle up to my nose for an inhale
as it omitted all the right waffle-y notes
bordering on the great smell of a funnel cake
Before I tinkered with the chicken and the syrup aspects of this journey
Its exterior exudes like it would be super crispy
but an actual first bite was more of a soft one
The waffle had a lovely built in sweetness that played well with the more salty and starchy-aspects of the batter
I was not sure the accompanying syrup was even necessary to join the cause
which has kept it a pantry staple for six decades
The syrups obviously works well on the waffle
and thanks to its fortified patterned structure
it held the syrup quite well within each near-perfect square
I brought an Original Recipe Tender into the mix
Fried chicken is the more natural partner for waffles over tenders
and KFC's fried chicken is meatier and juicier than the tenders
but it wasn't as easy a combo to eat in unison
I am well versed in the Pie Poppers line of desserts made by KFC. My first experience with them was fresh from the test kitchen fryer at KFC HQ (then, in actual Kentucky proper), like its sweet spot hitting Apple Pie ones
and with some really fun flavors that have still yet to see the light of day at KFC's near you and me
These little guys are slightly over 2-inches long
and small diagonal slits in the middle which reveal its colorful pie-like filling
While the Pie Popper line is relatively new
the two-step combo flavor of Strawberry & Crème had a previous run at KFC in the form of an actual slice of pie
it's being employed in a more snack-able form
I tried these Strawberry & Crème Pie Poppers after my most satisfying plate of chicken and waffles
While these Poppers' smell couldn't match what KFC's waffles had luringly offered up
they still had an appealing allure to them
and almost felt like it was coated in sugar crystals (that's a good thing)
The interior turned out not to have too much going on inside
with a mere tiny dollop of the fruit filling
and a liner of looser breading at the bottom
it added up to a neat treat that had a nice lean delivery of the promised strawberry and crème filling
As this was my first experience with KFC's waffles, I was both truly surprised and thoroughly impressed with the ones it is serving up. I also really enjoyed eating them in tandem with both KFC's tenders and fried chicken pieces. The Colonel's super solid tenders worked well to create a full bite that included both
but the fried chicken pieces had its own strengths
especially for those looking to capture more of the juicy goodness of its chicken meat
the waffle was just so excellent on its own
I'm not sure it needed to be paired with the chicken and could exist as its own menu item
If KFC ever wanted to get fully back in the breakfast game
these waffles may be a first great giant leap forward
Butterworth's syrup doesn't have the bona fides of being tapped from a tree in Vermont
and yet she still proved to be quite the big dipper here for my entire meal
I couldn't keep myself from dipping everything in sight into her cup
I know you're working at KFC for just a temp job
but I can foresee a more permanent role for you here
the kind folks over at KFC sent over an two orders of Chicken & Waffles
Also included were the new Strawberry & Crème Pie Poppers for review
in the order one would probably eat them in — entrée first
While their comments on the food were duly noted
the final conclusions were drawn upon my own dining experience and how they met with my own personal tastes
The criteria taken into consideration for this chew and review is based on both products' flavor
and likelihood of wanting to order it again
do not waffle on any of these hot new hot items before they disappear
