Strobridge was born and raised in Swainsboro. He was a Swainsboro High School graduate. Mike was not your typical teenager. At the age of 14

Strobridge later attended Gupton Jones Mortuary school in Atlanta. After graduation
Mike returned home where he picked up his passion for serving the community. He became the first African American firefighter in Emanuel County and one of the first EMTs. Mike would leave one public service job and go to the next for many years. He would always say “Paramedics save lives and EMTs save Paramedics.” Mr
Strobridge joined various organizations such as the Saint Philip Lodge #96
and Greater Saint James Missionary Baptist Church
In 2003 Mike became Chief Strobridge. Mr

and better training for all the staff and volunteers. Chief Strobridge gave 53 years of public service to the community and will be deeply missed

(AP) — A Georgia police officer has been criminally charged after investigators say he pulled a gun on three people while responding to a call about an assault
was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threats and acts
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said that the Soperton Police Department asked it to investigate Bishop’s actions in the July 26 incident
Investigators say Bishop was responding to the assault call when he stopped a car occupied by three people who were relatives of friends of the assault victim
Bishop and the people in the car got into an argument
He then pointed the gun at the car’s occupants while hitting the windows and threatening to shoot the car
A Georgia state senator is trying to change the terms of an entrenched partisan debate
saying he’s not interested in restricting gun ownership but in preventing the fatal shooting of children
Bishop was released from jail on $25,000 bail
Jail records don’t list a lawyer for Bishop and he didn’t immediately respond to emails on Tuesday
Soperton Police Chief James Mills did not respond to a phone message
Prosecutors will seek the death penalty against a mass-murder suspect who was captured in Burke County after he went on the run
Bishop was fired July 31 from the Soperton Police Department
according to records from the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council
It was his second stint with the department after he voluntarily resigned in July 2023 and was rehired in November
Bishop has also worked as a police officer in Swainsboro and as a corrections officer
District Attorney Craig Fraser will decide whether to seek an indictment against Bishop once the investigation is complete
