Not quite your Jerami Grant offseason growth development

Rising sophomore Donnie Freeman has grown an inch, according to Syracuse Orange men’s basketball head coach Adrian Autry

The Mets are promoting right-handed pitching prospect Nolan McLean to Triple-A Syracuse. Daniel Wexler (@WexlerRules on Twitter) was the first to report the news
McLean is ranked the fifth-best prospect in the Mets’ farm system by Baseball America and MLB Pipeline
99 prospect in the sport by Baseball America and No
Originally drafted as a two-way player out of Oklahoma State University
McLean began to focus exclusively on pitching during the 2024 season
The 23-year-old has diced up his opponents in 2025
posting a 1.37 ERA with 30 strikeouts against 12 walks in 26 1/3 innings for Double-A Binghamton
He has yet to allow a home run this season
McLean’s fastball sits in the mid-to-high 90s
but his standout pitch is his sweeping slider
which some tout as one of the best in the sport
MLB Pipeline wrote earlier this year that the pitch boasts a spin rate over 3,000 rpm with over 20 inches of horizontal movement and velocity in the mid-80s
McLean will join fellow top pitching prospect Brandon Sproat in the Syracuse rotation

Syracuse (14-17) started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a spark at the top of the order

“I don’t think all of it was on Madison [Knight]
I think Kelly Breen’s more than capable of fielding that ball that was slapped to her and went into left field
You get those two out and we start the inning off with two outs
You let them have their single and their double and maybe they push one run across
I don’t think Madison had her best stuff today
I think defensively we just need to be better
they’re one of the better teams in the conference
so we gotta be able to play defense in order to keep up with that.”

“We gotta be better with runners in scoring position
I thought we had opportunities early in the game that could’ve changed the whole dynamic of the game
I think chasing seven runs is really hard for this team to do
I think they swung but we never swung back
so I think that the first couple innings when we had runners in scoring position I think we need better at-bats in those scoring situations and I think the dynamic changes a little bit
We put on a couple runs and feel good about ourselves
we kind of took it and never got back up.”

Graduate attackman Eric Malever found himself off the right shoulder of Syracuse goalkeeper Jimmy McCool
There were only a handful of seconds remaining in the fourth frame of what had been a defensive-minded performance for both teams
The Orange goalkeeper’s 10 saves — with the help of a suffocating Syracuse back line — had limited the Blue Devils' offensive chances throughout much of the game.
Malever attempted to wrap his shot around McCool’s left shoulder but miscalculated the angle and missed the net entirely
The ball rolled towards the back corner of the pitch as the seconds trickled down and the final buzzer sounded
handing Duke its final reminder of the offensive frustrations that plagued the team’s play all match
At American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte
4-seed Orange held strong in the final seconds to squeeze past the No
3-seed Blue Devils 9-8 in the ACC Tournament Championship
solidifying their case for an NCAA Tournament bid and equalizing their 2025 season record against Duke at 1-1
By the 10-minute mark in the fourth quarter
Five minutes passed before freshman attacker Liam Kershis shaved the lead down to 9-7
and only a minute remained in the game when junior midfielder Max Sloat brought the Blue Devils within a single goal
having already won 12 of the 16 faceoffs he had taken thus far
which — at the time — seemed to surely be the end of the ballgame
as Syracuse ran through the final minute of its end-of-game keep-away procedure
junior defenseman Henry Bard pushed redshirt senior attack Owen Hiltz out of play
sophomore midfielder Benn Johnston found Malever open in front of McCool before the attacker’s eventual miss and the Blue Devils’ eventual one-point loss
Of the 11 conference tournaments that have played out over the past week
the ACC’s is the only one whose champion doesn’t receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament
The five teams which make up Duke men’s lacrosse’s conference don’t meet the six-team requirement that qualifies a conference for an automatic bid
Every ACC team must therefore fight for one of the eight at-large positions in the national tournament.
Heading into the conference semifinal against Notre Dame, Syracuse stood in the bubble of NCAA Tournament selection and under the shadow of a three-game losing streak which included its 7-11 fall to the Blue Devils just weeks ago
when the Orange ground out their much needed 14-12 overtaking of the No
1-seed Fighting Irish to advance to the ACC Tournament title game
the team’s season was filled with new hope.
Syracuse — likely carrying unpleasant memories of the quick 4-0 margin the Blue Devils forced onto it in Koskinen Stadium in the teams’ April matchup — wasted no time waiting to put points on the board
Hiltz ripped one from the right side to give the Orange the early 1-0 lead
After Syracuse broke the seal early in the first
the bout’s trend of strong goalkeeping became apparent
McCool combined for 16 saves with Duke’s sophomore goalkeeper Patrick Jameison in the game’s first half as neither team broke five goals through the game’s first two periods.
with five minutes remaining in the first frame
a relatively new name in the regular Blue Devil rotation
feinted left and blew by his defender to the right before delivering his sixth goal of the season and equalizing the match at one-all
after a sequence of strong goalkeeping which followed Delgado’s score
senior midfielder Andrew McAdorey dumped his first of the game in from a behind-the-net pass from Malever and handed Duke the 2-1 lead
which kept the Blue Devils close in the fight throughout the match
Syracuse’s offensive penetration at times proved too much for Duke's backline and goalkeeper
The Orange attack blew by Blue Devil defenders and executed effective passing to earn its third and fourth goals in the minutes before the first frame ended for a two-goal margin
If it wasn’t for McAdorey’s buzzer-beating roller
Duke would have played through the second quarter scoreless
But before the senior midfielder’s second of the day
Syracuse showed it would continue its offensive momentum into the second frame
After junior attack Joey Spallina — the Orange’s offensive headliner — tallied his 30th goal of the season
attack Finn Thomson completed a Sports-Center-Top-10-worthy behind-the-back toss to the net’s top right corner to give Syracuse the intimidating 5-2 lead.
Just as it looked as though the Orange would shut out the Blue Devils in the second frame
sophomore longstick midfielder Mac Christmas fought to carry the Duke possession over the centerline
Christmas would go on to lose a piece of equipment
allowing McAdorey to continue the Blue Devil possession from behind the restraining line after the whistle
rolled an underhand shot past McCool before the buzzer
cutting the deficit back to two goals and building much-needed momentum for the Duke offense to start the third quarter
The Blue Devils continued to stay tight with the Orange through the second half
and Syracuse could never build a lead larger than three goals
alongside Delgado’s leaping second score in the third quarter
meant that three Duke players would earn multiple goals through the match’s duration
the Blue Devils would fall just short of their first conference tournament championship victory in over a decade

Mets are promoting pitching prospect Nolan McLean to Triple-A Syracuse. The 23-year-old had 1.37 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings this year for Double-A Binghamton. @WexlerRules on it first
McLean, 23, is currently ranked No. 5 in the Mets’ farm system by MLB Pipeline and No. 99 in the sport by Baseball America
Initially drafted as a two-way player out of Oklahoma State in 2023
McLean shifted his full focus to pitching last June after batting .159/.232/.333 with a 52.1% strikeout rate in 69 plate appearances with Binghamton
The former third-round selection finished 2024 with a 3.78 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 109.2 innings between High-A and Double-A
which includes a high-90s fastball and a mid-80s sweeping slider with a spin rate over 3,000 rpm and more than 20 inches of horizontal movement

MLB Pipeline projects McLean’s big league ETA as 2025. However, with considerable rotation depth ahead of him, the Mets will likely give him ample time to develop in Syracuse.

we sat down with team owner Howard Dolgon
Despite the team's recent loss to the Rochester Americans in the Calder Cup semifinals
Dolgon remains optimistic about the Crunch's future
Watch the full interview, here.
"It's hard when the season ends because you see them leaving and there's an emptiness of what are we going to do the next five months?" Dolgon said
The fan base has been fantastic from day one."
Dolgon acknowledged the arena's age and the community's desire for a modern facility
"But I don't think there's a person in the community that wouldn't want a state of the art facility."
Dolgon emphasized the potential benefits of a new arena
noting it could attract more events to Syracuse
"You've got acts that are 8,000 to 10,000 seat shows that have really nowhere to go," he said
"You don't want them passing here
You want them stopping here because the market is growing."
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon has stated there are no plans to build a new facility anytime soon
Dolgon also expressed pride in the Crunch's longstanding affiliation with the Tampa Bay Lightning
which is set to continue beyond the current contract ending after the 2026-2027 season
we'll be with Tampa long term," he said
As one of 12 independently owned AHL teams
the Crunch maintains a unique position in the league
"Any business decision that comes from the league standpoint
it's made by Syracuse," Dolgon explained
We weren't the Syracuse Blue Jackets or Ducks
Dolgon highlighted the advantages of the team's location
with proximity to other AHL teams reducing travel time
And it's one of the model partnerships in the American League," he said
While no immediate plans exist for a new arena
"I don't think there's a person in the community that wouldn't want a state of the art facility," he reiterated

who led SU to a dominant day winning 14-of-20 face-offs (70 percent) that allowed them to control possession and pace on a warm day down in Charlotte
winning clamp after clamp to himself to keep the pressure on Duke all day long
but the entire Orange team did a tremendous job playing with intensity in their pursuit of loose balls the gain even more possession
grabbing 37 ground balls to the Blue Devils’ 20
It was a physically played game by both teams
but SU was able to be more efficient in the aftermath of that physicality to give themselves as many opportunities as possible against a great Duke defense
taking advantage of a substitution advantage with Michael Leo (1G
2A) finding Owen Hiltz (2G) open on the wing for a hammer finish to open the scoring
SU was moving the ball pretty well and generating some good looks
but their shooting was off and so the offense went cold for most of the rest of the quarter while Duke scored a pair to take an early
Tyler McCarthy (1G) ended the drought with some wonderful moves against super-shortie Aidan Maguire
using a swim to get past him and tuck one low past Patrick Jameison
who had a fantastic game slowing the Orange down with 16 saves
some great team ball movement ended with Joey Spallina (1G
2A) finding Finn Thomson (2G) for a goal that gave ‘Cuse a 3-2 lead heading into the second quarter
A defensive battle ensued in the second as both teams got a little loose with the ball
and Spallina put an end to it with a very smart finish when he rolled back from the right side to his left to increase his angle and give himself a much better look at cage
Finn pushed the lead out further with a phenomenal BTB shot off a feed from Leo
and he caught and shot the ball all in one motion without moving his torso basically at all
It was a cool-as-the-other-side-of-the-pillow type finish
and he earned his archer celebration afterwards
Andrew McAdorey gave Duke a little momentum heading into the locker room with a heave and a goal from outside the offensive box that took a deflection and went in to make it 5-3 at the break
Duke continued that momentum into the second half
getting on the board first with a Benn Johnston goal off a Wyatt Hottle slip-to-the-ground turnover to make it 5-4
Michael Leo put a stop to it a few minutes later with a very nice dodge against his shortie matchup from just above GLE
beating his man and diving as he scored to go ‘Cuse a little cushion
Hiltz drew a double team that led to a Payton Anderson (2G) open look and goal when Jameison was screened by a teammate
The Blue Devils got one back when they got the ‘Cuse defense hung up
but on the next possession the Orange used some quick passing to give Owen Hiltz a step on his shortie matchup coming up from X to bring the lead back to 8-5 at the end of the third
Duke got a man-up goal a few minutes into the fourth to start their climb back
but Payton Anderson punched right back by showing off his impressive strength on a wing dodge against a pole that he bounced in from a difficult angle
making it 9-6 at the time with the goal that would become the eventual game-winner
‘Cuse adopted a hang-on-for-dear-life strategy that wasn’t working so great
They completely took the air out of the ball every time they had an offensive possession
preferring to waste 80 seconds and maybe try to get one late look rather than run any kind of normal offense
including the game’s final goal with 61 seconds left
Mullen won the ensuing face-off and the Orange were able to waste some of the clock
Hiltz was doubled teamed and immediately turned it over
called timeout and got exactly what they were looking for out of it
who played a great game along with the rest of the defense
made an ill-advised slide against a Benn Johnston dodge from up top
leaving Eric Malever wide open near the crease
Johnston bounced a pass that he scooped on a short hop
but thankfully his tying effort went wide of the pipe as the clock expired and the Orange ran out to celebrate their ACC Tournament title
It was a hard-fought game of lacrosse on both sides
I thought SU was the better team on the day and deserving of the win
but Duke certainly showed their mettle with that comeback and should have sent the game to overtime
The defense put in a great effort holding the Blue Devils to eight goals
The poles all made impacts throughout the game
Michael Grace (3GB) and Chuck Kuczynski (3GB) were especially impactful
Dwan and Figueiras were awesome all weekend
both being named to the ACC Tournament Team alongside Owen Hiltz
Finn Thomson and ACC Tournament MVP Jimmy McCool (10SV)
McCool is racking up the hardware in the last week with the ACC Goalie of the Year and tourney MVP
and it’s all deserved with the surge he’s had in the last couple months
After making a career-high 20 saves on Friday
he made 10 more today to help hold the Blue Devils to single-digits
He made 30 saves this weekend with a 60.0 save percentage
The Orange came into the weekend in need of a win
if only to get something positive going for themselves
They exit it with two more strong resume builders
and now have a short wait to find out their NCAA Tournament slot (my guess is they’re hosting and have played themselves into either the No

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse Athletic Director John Wildhack has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee.
Wildhack will replace North Carolina Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham, whose term expired after serving as the committee chair as the ACC's representative this past tournament.
"It's a privilege to represent Syracuse University and the Atlantic Coast Conference on the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee," Wildhack said. "I'm thankful to Commissioner Jim Phillips for nominating me. The NCAA tournament is one of the great sporting events in the world. I look forward and am honored to work with NCAA Senior Vice President of Basketball Dan Gavitt, the NCAA staff and my fellow committee members."
Wildhack spent more than eight years as the Syracuse Athletics Director.
His term will officially begin on Sept. 1. It will conclude in 2030.
-- Syracuse Men's Basketball secured the commitment of Cincinnati transfer Tyler Betsey
The rising sophomore broke the news to On3.com earlier tonight
The 6'8 forward averaged 3.3 points in 11.1 minutes a night
the Connecticut native was a top-50 recruit in last year's class
Betsey chose Cincinnati over programs like Alabama and UConn
Syracuse has now added six players via the transfer portal this offseason
The Orange currently have a 12-man roster for next year
Now that the NFL Draft is over, we’ll look at the former Syracuse Orange to see how they fit in their new homes
Next up is defensive end/linebacker Fadil Diggs drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 7th round with the 254th pick in the Draft
Despite being a late-round pick, Diggs is slotted onto the two-deep at weakside linebacker behind Carl Granderson
but Diggs will have veterans Cameron Jordan and Tyrann Mathieu to help him acclimate to the NFL
With his speed and ability to get to the quarterback
look for Diggs to feature on passing downs and special teams next year in New Orleans
His path to consistent playing time will hinge on his ability to use his speed and athleticism in coverage as well as attacking the line of scrimmage
It looks like New Orleans could be an outstanding spot for Diggs as they transition to a new defense and look for young players to be contributors
The Orange and Blue Devils tangle for an ACC title and an improved seed in the NCAA Tournament

the regular season meeting between these two was a complete disaster for ‘Cuse in an 11-7 loss in Durham
The Orange lacked intensity from the outset
were held scoreless in the both the first and third quarters
and finished with almost as many turnovers (18) as shots on goal (20)
It was arguably the worst performance of the season
so hopefully ‘Cuse has a lot more in store for Duke this time around
The chief concern coming out of that game is how SU can find success against the stingy Blue Devil defense
Duke has given up an average of 7.6 goals per game over five contests
What makes them especially difficult is that they don’t like to slide and are very good at winning their matchups and playing straight-up
That could potentially mean trouble for a ‘Cuse offense that isn’t great at consistently winning their individual matchups off the dodge
We know the Orange love to try and attack their shortie matchups as much as possible
but the problem there is that Aidan Maguire is one of the best SSDMs in the country and was named ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Year last week
He’s basically another pole out there and his presence alongside the likes of close defender Charlie Johnson and goalie Patrick Jameison adds up to a tall task for the Orange offense
One thing that would help is maximizing their opportunities
which all starts with Johnny Mullen and the face-off unit
but Mullen struggled against Duke backup FOGO Cal Girard
It may take a better effort than 12-of-22 to give ‘Cuse as many cracks as possible at Duke
Duke made an important lineup change that paid big dividends in their dominating win over the Tar Heels
They’ve been looking for the right combination of their starting six on offense for much of the season
and on Friday they inserted sophomore Tomas Delgado into their first midfield alongside Max Sloat and Benn Johnston
Delgado came into the game having scored three points on the entire season
and he led the Blue Devils with a hat trick and four points against UNC
The effects were contagious as every member of the starting offense scored multiple points to lead Duke to a 14-goal performance
Could that lineup change be a light-switch moment for this Duke team
Jimmy McCool and the SU defense will do what they can to prevent that light from staying on
They’ll have to do a better job on leading-scorer Eric Malever
who lit them up for five goals in the first game
One more thing to keep in mind is that Owen Hiltz played banged up and Finn Thomson was playing for the first time in a month and a half in the first meeting
so hopefully a healthier version of the ‘Cuse offense will be a good starting point for a more productive day
Syracuse adds depth to its frontcourt with the addition of the Cincy transfer

He committed to the Bearcats program over Alabama
Betsey played in 33 games as a freshman for Wes Miller in 11.1 minutes per game
He averaged 3.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per game
He made 32.1 percent of his shots from three as a freshman
Betsey will join a frontcourt at Syracuse of Nate Kingz

Orange fans believe that we’ll see some post-season action from both the men and women
We also asked which of the four former Orange taken in last week’s NFL Draft was in the best situation
It’s hard to argue against Oronde Gadsden’s opportunity in Los Angeles and a good number of fans feel Kyle McCord will thrive in Philly and that LeQuint Allen will get on the field with Jacksonville
Speaking of the draft and McCord, in this week’s National poll, more fans picked Will Howard to have the best career of the “second-tier” quarterbacks. McCord tied with Cam Miller behind Howard and Quinn Ewers. Guess a lot of Ohio State/Steelers fans hit the polls this week

The Hall of Famer will make his debut this fall
A Syracuse Orange men’s basketball legend
long-time NBA All-Star and now Hall of Fame member is headed to the studio desk at NBC Sports
Carmelo Anthony will be a part of NBC Sports’ NBA coverage
The announcement came during the Kentucky Derby this past weekend that Anthony will serve as a studio analyst when the NBA returns to NBC
Anthony joins NBC Sports after the network signed a new media rights deal with the NBA last fall
NBC Sports also says Anthony is expected to be in studio for “one or more nights per week through the playoffs.”
NBC will reportedly air 100 games per season
It will broadcast the league’s game on the network’s streaming service
That also means ‘Melo gets to be a part of the network with arguably the best NBA theme song ever:

“Watching the NBA on NBC growing up shaped my love for the game,” Anthony said in the release
I’m thrilled to join the NBC Sports family
I’ve always used my platform to help grow the game
and I’m excited to bring fans a fresh perspective as we usher in a new era of NBA coverage and programming.”
Anthony produced one of the best one-and-one seasons in college basketball history and guided Syracuse to its only championship-winning team in 2003. After being drafted third overall in the 2003 NBA Draft
he would end up playing 19 seasons in the league
‘Melo finished with 10 All-Star appearances
six All-NBA nods and a spot on the league’s 75th Anniversary Team
Anthony also carved out a decorated career with Team USA
He currently sits 10th all-time in total points scored in NBA history
That decorated basketball career at each of those three levels led to him most recently being named a first-ballot Hall of Famer
Anthony will make his on-air debut with the network on Peacock in October
The Orange finally put together a performance to get another big win and earn their spot in May Madness
It took almost a month, but the Syracuse Orange finally got the win they needed to ensure their participation in this year’s NCAA Tournament when they defeated the 1-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish
for the second time this season on Friday night in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament
‘Cuse was able to prevail on the efforts of their specialists
who were exceptional in helping the Orange earn the crucial win
He also had a goal directly off a second quarter face-off win
one of eight ‘Cuse goals scored on the first possession after a FO win in this game as Mullen and co
did their best to score goals while keeping the ball away from the Irish
Jimmy McCool (20SV) had yet another career day with a career-high 20 saves and a 62.5 save percentage
when he made a clutch save late in the third quarter with the Orange up by two and ND with a 6-on-4 man-up opportunity
making nine saves to keep the Irish at bay and preserve the victory
SEE YOU SUNDAY#HHH x #LikeNoOther pic.twitter.com/WDb6Yq7j7A
with the Orange getting the party started with a 3-0 run in the first five minutes
1A) opened the scoring with a dodge from X as Joey Spallina (4A) drew a double team and the defense got hung up
Billy Dwan (1G) scored a pole goal in transition
followed by Luke Rhoa (2G) with time and room
The Irish took control next as the ‘Cuse offense went into a little hibernation
ND went on a 4-1 run to tie the game at four a little more than five minutes into the second quarter
Only a Rhoa goal off an X-feed from Hiltz broke up the run during a period in which SU scored once in about a 17-minute stretch
But the Orange quickly put an end to ND’s run; very quickly
‘Cuse answered with four straight goals in 95 seconds to regain control of the game
Hiltz started that run by getting some separation at X and dodging hard above GLE for a nice goal on-the-run
Mullen scored six seconds later to make it 6-4
before Payton Anderson (1G) and Sammy English (1G
5GB) both beat shortie matchups to extend the lead to 8-4
The Irish fired back with a pair of goals to make it 8-6 at the halftime break
After a Notre Dame transition goal to start the third quarter
Greg Elijah-Brown (2G) scored his first of two man-up goals right before the air horn sounded to signal a weather delay that lasted for almost an hour
ND scored on the first possession out of the delay to make it 9-8 just over five minutes into the third
and for a few moments it seemed as though they were the ones who grabbed momentum out of the unexpected stoppage
But Owen Hiltz once again took matters into his own hands
this time performing a very aggressive dodge against a shortie matchup from GLE that he finished off with a dive near the crease
and to me it signaled just how badly he wanted this one
After the Orange committed simultaneous penalties with four minutes to go in the third
The man-down unit did a nice job on an evening of great work from them
and Jimmy McCool stepped up with a big save to shut down the two-man advantage and keep SU’s lead at 10-8
‘Cuse came down and Michael Leo (2A) found Finn Thomson (1G) for a smooth finish to add insult to injury on ND’s failed man-up chance
The third quarter ended with Hiltz making another fantastic play
this time in defensive transition as he committed a yard-sale check to cause a loose ball that led to a Jake Taylor tripping penalty that kicked off the fourth quarter
Spallina found Elijah-Brown for the second time to complete a 3-0 SU run that turned a one-goal game midway through the third into a 12-8 ‘Cuse lead early in the fourth
That run provided all the separation the Orange would need
as Notre Dame’s next two goals were immediately answered by Owen Hiltz’s fourth and fifth tallies of the evening
the first of which came on a gorgeous skip pass from English
the final minute of the game got a little kooky and a lot confusing
A sequence that spanned both ends of the field led to four penalties being committed
The Irish had a 5-on-3 advantage that they scored on
and then decided not to release SU’s pushing penalty afterwards
and the Irish tacked one on more before the game ended to make it 14-12
but it mattered not as the Orange were able to secure the win and push themselves off the edge of the bubble and more comfortably into the NCAA Tournament conversation
leading the offense with five goals and six points
Rhoa and Elijah-Brown each had two goals and Leo had two helpers
an assist and five ground balls to go along with his work on man-down
1CT) had an especially strong day marking Chris Kavanagh and holding the ACC Offensive Player of the Year to two goals and three points
holding Notre Dame goalless on their first five man-up chances before they scored twice in the final minute with three Orange players in the box
‘Cuse will move on to the ACC Tournament Championship game for the first time since 2016, where they will play the Duke Blue Devils (who absolutely wasted UNC in the second semifinal) on Sunday at 12 PM on the ACC Network
Davis now boasts the chance to shine in front of NBA scouts
A former Syracuse Orange men’s basketball forward will soon have a chance to make an impression in front of NBA scouts and personnel
Jyare Davis, who played one season with Syracuse, was one of 44 players who received an invite to the NBA G League Elite Camp. Michael Scotto of USA Today was the first to report
The camp allows Davis and others named to showcase their skills leading up to the NBA Draft
Attendees will also participate in five-on-five games plus strength and agility drills
Former Syracuse guards Judah Mintz and Buddy Boeheim are among the names who recently got G League Elite Camp invites
Sources: The 2025 NBA G League Elite Camp list has been unveiled below. A select number of standout players from this event will also be invited to participate in the 2025 NBA Draft Combine. pic.twitter.com/ILTGJZrJ85
Davis played three seasons with the Delaware Blue Hens
He became a full-time starter in his last two years with Delaware and averaged 14.1 points
5.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 94 total games
Davis transferred to the Orange coming off a year where he earned second-team All-Coastal Athletic Association honors
He played in 33 games for Syracuse (22 as a starter) and finished with averages of 9.4 points
0.6 steals and 0.4 blocks in just under 25 minutes per game
Davis measures at six-foot-seven and 220 lbs
good wing players come at a premium and scouts are keeping an eye on finding forwards with defensive versatility and the ability to move up and down positions
Davis showed those flashes as a switchable wing who
He predominantly played the four at Syracuse next to either Donnie Freeman
along with the energy as a rebounder and ability to get his own on offense mainly around the basket or from the mid-range area
The key concern will obviously be Davis’ outside shot
He finished his collegiate career shooting below 29% from three on 1.3 attempts per game
though he did shoot over 71% on free throws
An unknown number of participants in the G League Elite Camp who shine and are draft-eligible will be invited to the NBA Draft Combine
Davis will look to capitalize on the opportunity and push to standout in the camp, which will take place from Friday to Sunday in Chicago
The Orange haven’t won since their game against...Notre Dame
With their April losing streak reaching three, the Syracuse Orange will be very happy to see the calendar change to May as they head down to Charlotte to take on the last team they beat, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish
‘Cuse is sitting right on the edge of the NCAA Tournament
in need of a complete lack of bid stealers (Yale
non-Army Patriot) in order to have a chance
A second win over Notre Dame would go along way in securing their bid themselves
but it’s going to take a heck of a lot better effort than we’ve seen from them the past three weeks
The Orange and Irish are set for their rematch at 5 PM on the ACC Network
A new season starts on Friday.#4 Syracuse vs. #1 Notre DameCharlotte, North CarolinaAmerican Legion Memorial StadiumFriday | May 2 | 5 p.m. ️ https://t.co/Q5Dy8iLcKb#HHH x #LikeNoOther pic.twitter.com/qiFVDcAUbu
This is a very difficult rematch to get a feel for
mostly because of the extremes of the first matchup
There was ‘Cuse physicality that led to a near 40-minute Irish scoreless drought
Joey Spallina going off-ball and moving around to elude ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Year Shawn Lyght to the tune of four goals
64 percent SU domination on face-offs and nine failed clears by the Orange
That’s a lot of extreme aspects of that game that will be difficult to replicate a second time around
which means the ‘Cuse offense can’t count of their defense holding ND down so long to help give them some cushion on the score board
Lyght is going to be fascinating after the way it went down the first time
can the Orange possibly manage to not turn it over nearly double-digit times on clear attempts alone
They also had a disaster in the clear game last weekend against UNC
something they’ll need to clean up against an aggressive ND team
How about the intangibles of a ND team that wants revenge vs
a ‘Cuse team that needs to get a win to add to their resume and end their month-long winless streak
Intangibles often lack for this Orange team
but they’ll need to find them in order to top the Irish for the second time this season
