Webb praised the Terry twins before they even took a snap on varsity calling them "too good to be playing on Monday nights." They've always been dedicated to the weight room and are now growing as more vocal leaders The twins succeed even more academically — Landon has a 4.15 GPA while Noah's stands at a 3.97 He's never missed a sporting event for his twins and their 11-year-old brother He's always cheering his sons on front and center I can hear in my head him always motivating me," Noah said "I think me and Landon's bond with our dad is very special He's literally been there every step of the way he would get it for us without a heartbeat." "I still ask his numbers to this day how fast he ran in track the way he played in football and how that went Landon and Noah's favorite memories at Tell City have been with their teammates But it hasn't always been roses for the Terry twins Landon broke his fibula in football as a sophomore and fell short of semistate wrestling later that year Noah fought through injuries in track last spring and saw his season end before the regional He then was carted off during the Week 4 showdown with North Posey after breaking his own school record for single-game rushing yards the previous Friday IHSAA football: Courier & Press high school football power rankings through Week 5 Their love and support for each other is unbreakable They're always pushing each and don't fight rather they are always the first to congratulate each other whenever they succeed "Even though I may not be on the state track running with him I still feel like I'm right there next to him "I'm really proud of how far he's come and how he didn't let an injury overcome his lifestyle The Terry twins are undecided about their college future but they wouldn't mind going to the same school together Kentucky Wesleyan and Indiana Wesleyan over the past year Landon also visited the University of Indianapolis recently and enjoyed the fast-paced atmosphere there "It's definitely a unique opportunity that we have to be twins," Landon said if our athleticism doesn't the team very far I know our leadership and our work ethic will definitely do that." There's still more football to be played at Tell City as it aims to build off its first winning campaign in four years The Marksmen (3-2) haven't won a regular season conference title since 1992 but are a game out of first place in the Pocket Athletic Conference Small School Division Noah hopes to return by the postseason and is pumped to see his teammates step up in the meantime "They deserve a lot of credit for helping us build this program back They may not receive enough credit," Webb said I hope at the end of their four years that they can just look back and realize that they had a good experience playing football for Tell City And I think those two kids are spitting images of that." Memorial looks the part after dominant win over Mater Dei — Waylon Schenk has been at North Posey for eight years This is one of the best Tell City teams the Vikings coach has ever seen The Marksmen came into Friday's contest at Legion Field as one of the PAC's highest-scoring teams and boasted one of Southwestern Indiana's best rushing attacks North Posey knew it was going to be tested against one of its fellow Small School Division frontrunners 2 Vikings kept their undefeated season alive with a 34-14 win against the Marksmen While Tell City made it a one-score game twice in the second half North Posey kept pulling away with touchdowns of its own Freshman Dylan Murphy came through in the clutch and made one of the Vikings' biggest plays He snagged the football on top of a Tell City defender and sprinted down the sideline for a 46-yard score Senior Jed Galvin totaled 187 rushing yards and three scores — one with under two minutes remaining "We knew that this was going to be a battle We knew that this was going to be four quarters," Schenk said Tell City coach Malin Webb said his team's loss might be the best thing that'll happen to them this season they stood tall and even remained in good spirits after Noah Terry was carted off in the first half with an injury Fellow senior Max Fortwendel stepped up in the ground game and scored on a pair of quarterback keepers in the second half "They were still out there competing regardless of the circumstances that were stacked against them," Webb said "I think you get that with an experienced football team like we have We just got to get some of these younger guys a little more acclimated and get them used to varsity speed The Vikings played the Patriots closely at "The Jungle" last fall and are excited to show what they're made of again "I'm just looking forward to seeing how good we really are," Galvin said "I'm sure this Heritage Hills team is better than what they were last year It's going to be a test for our team and I'm excited to see where we stack up against that." "Next week will be a really good game," Murphy added get after it at practice and get ready for the next game." Only a single one-score contest took place in Southwestern IndianaThe lone one-score contest in the area was Class 3A No 2 Gibson Southern's 34-31 loss against South Warren (Ky.) this should be a positive showing from the Titans against a perennial power from Western Kentucky Gibson Southern led by 10 at halftime and retook the lead in the fourth quarter Zach Foster at quarterback with 302 yards and four touchdowns All of the games that took place in the city were blowouts The winning teams outscored the losing squads 192-39 — all but one winning team put up 40 points on the scoreboard The closest contest that took place in the city was Class 4A No The biggest question moving forward from the latter will be the Panthers' offense Their top two quarterbacks both left the game early with injuries Boonville gets into the win column for the first time this seasonIt took longer than anticipated but the Pioneers gained a needed positive result with a 35-6 win at North Knox Tyler Rinehart and Nolan McKinney had two touchdowns apiece With the majority of its PAC schedule on the horizon and an up-for-grabs sectional wins like this could boost a program in the right direction The schedule doesn't get easier with Linton-Stockton visiting Bennett Field next week there were seven teams across Southwestern Indiana with a zero in the loss column Memorial and Reitz are the only 4-0 teams in the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference The former did so with an impressive 41-13 win over Mater Dei North Posey is the only PAC team without a blemish after Gibson Southern lost and Washington had its hot start end against Mount Vernon There are still five weeks until the conference champions will be crowned Will any of them go into the season undefeated Among the more notable matchups remaining for the three unbeatens: Heritage Hills at North Posey in Week 5 and Reitz at Memorial in Week 7.
