center in Templeton for CAL FIRE and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Both agencies are eagerly awaiting the transition to a new and improved dispatch center with modern technology CAL FIRE Public Information Officer Eva Grady explained how having both dispatch centers under one roof will make communicating easier “We are both on the outskirts of San Luis Obispo and we're approximately five miles apart from each other which may as well be 100 miles because we don't get to interact face to face,” Grady said Both dispatch offices will be located on the second floor of the facility modern facility will allow more room for dispatchers to work comfortably we're in a 1940s-era old kitchen that's converted into a command center with upgrades along the years The new facility is nearly 10 times larger than their current dispatch center in San Luis Obispo “The role of a 911 dispatcher is a stressful job and that stress is only made worse if you’re in a tough work environment," said San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Nate Paul we did not have computers the way we do now the air conditioning is not designed to handle the heat load of all the dispatchers in that small room with all their computer screens so it’s really hard to maintain even basic temperature control in the current building Then you add to the fact that we have more people in the room than it was designed for and it makes for a very cramped environment pretty quickly.” Paul explained that the $39 million facility ensures that both agencies have adequate resources to serve their community for years to come “This is a 21st-century facility designed to last us at least the next 50 years,” Paul said in collaboration with the Templeton World Charity Foundation and the Templeton Religion Trust announced that the Templeton Prize Laureate for 2025 is His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew His All-Holiness is well known for groundbreaking engagements in environmental You can find the latest news release here The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is releasing more information about a deputy-involved shooting that injured a suspect in Templeton earlier this year 29 near Templeton High School and the Salinas River A video released by the sheriff’s office on Tuesday shows video from at least one of the patrol cars that night with a sheriff’s spokesperson explaining in detail what occurred The video states two marked patrol cars with two deputies in each vehicle responded to reports of shots heard along the 1200 block of South Main Street at around 10 p.m fired multiple times at the driver’s side of the first patrol car from a “hidden location at the base of a tree.” The video is paused while a close-up is shown of what the sheriff’s office says is a muzzle flash clearly visible You then see the first patrol car stop and appear to back up when someone holding a gun emerges from the side of the driveway The spokesperson says it was the suspect pointing his gun directly at the vehicle and firing The video then shows the first patrol car driving off It’s at that time the spokesperson says the suspect then approaches the second vehicle With both of those deputies getting out of their vehicle the deputies fired several shots from at the suspect The video then shows the suspect on the ground off the side of the driveway and deputies shouting commands like “do not move." The sheriff’s office says medical aid for Farrell was requested 46 seconds after the last shot was fired and that he was held at gunpoint for about two-and-a-half minutes while additional deputies arrived on scene the spokesperson added while showing a closeup shot of it in the video They say medical aid was given to the suspect once they determined he was no longer a threat The sheriff’s office says Farrell was under the influence of nitrous oxide gas they say it was struck three times during the incident Sheriff Ian Parkinson says the video and this incident “illustrates the danger that law enforcement faces.” Farrell was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and was later arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder on a peace officer He has not yet entered a plea and is due back in court next month The sheriff’s office says its major crimes unit handled the investigation into the incident with their findings turned over to the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office adding that its professional standards unit will review the case for compliance with departmental policy The District Attorney’s Office will be handling the investigation into whether the shooting by deputies was justified Sheriff’s officials say the deputies involved were placed on paid administrative leave following the incident and received wellness support and were evaluated to determine if they could return to work and in what capacity A sheriff's spokesperson says all four have since returned to work To view the video released by the sheriff's office, click here passed away peacefully at his home in the Manville Community of Gate City the fourth child of Troy and Jo Ann Templeton Roger is survived by two children: Zachary Templeton and Brittany McConnell He worked for several years at Kingsport Press/Arcata Graphics and then worked for the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority retiring in March of this year at the rank of Lieutenant Roger enjoyed being outside in nature whether that be hunting The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service and Randy McDavid will serve as pallbearers An online guest register is available for the Templeton family at www.gatecityfunerals.com Gate City Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Roger Alan Templeton California's new daylighting law requires drivers to park 20 feet away from crosswalks and 15 feet away from crosswalks with a curb extension According to Templeton CHP's Public Information Officer Ryan Armstrong daylighting refers to "keeping a clear zone of a specified distance on the approach side of an intersection or crosswalk allowing better visibility for drivers so they can see pedestrians and others entering the roadway." "It is important for the community to understand that they could be ticketed for violating this rule even if there is no signage or red curb in the area explaining where parking is prohibited This rule applies to both private and commercial vehicles," said Officer Armstrong Templeton resident Jeanne Hunt said increased visibility would make her feel safer when crossing the street "It would be a lot easier for everybody because a lot of times if a big car is in the front you can't see behind it anyway," said Hunt there are still aspects of the new law she has questions "Would they paint [the curb] red 20 feet back?" Hunt asked Cindy Osgood a resident of Templeton for nearly 30 years argued that she feels safe crossing the streets in town already she feels there needs to be appropriate signage to enforce this new law "If the curb was painted red and there was no parking slot there You can find more information on the new daylighting law here Appointment follows addition of former LPL executive Rob Pettman as TIFIN President and international expansion with TIFIN India which leverages conversational AI to build consumer facing investment platforms as the firm expands its enterprise offerings He will also serve as the firm's Chief Global Officer overseeing international expansion and partnerships including TIFIN India He brings decades of fintech and digital wealth experience across Asia Bindal most recently led Franklin Templeton Strategic Ventures and strategic platforms advancing Franklin Templeton's advisor technology capabilities He previously served as Global Head of Digital Strategy and Wealth Management and President of Franklin Templeton Asset Management (India) where he helped build one of the country's most respected asset managers "Harshendu brings deep strategic and operational expertise across markets and platforms," said Vinay Nair "Harshendu brings deep strategic and operational expertise across markets and platforms," said Vinay Nair "His global perspective and experience across asset management and fintech will help TIFIN's mission of impact through innovation at speed I am delighted to welcome him to TIFIN's leadership team."
