Maryland man is facing multiple charges after allegedly selling crack cocaine to a confidential informant twice in the span of about a week
Jacob Charles Lafrance has been charged with two felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance and two felony counts of criminal use of a communications facility
LaFrance failed to post bail of $50,000 and remains behind bars in Franklin County
Waynesboro PD say that within about 48 hours of October 17th of 2024 they met with a confidential informant who told them that they could purchase crack cocaine from Jacob Lafrance of Thurmont
After providing evidence through text messages
WPD and the CI set up phone calls to LaFrance in an effort to facilitate a drug sale
A predetermined meeting location and time were arranged and WPD say it went off without a hitch
utilizing special WPD funds for this kind of incident
The crack cocaine was turned over to Waynesboro PD for further tested at regional laboratories
Waynesboro PD were again approached by a confidential informant that said they could purchase crack cocaine from Jake Lafrance
It remains unknown whether this person was the same or different from the first purchase due to anonymity of the CI process
A second crack deal was set up by the CI and Waynesboro PD as well as help from the Franklin County Drug Task Force
That deal was facilitated around that date
with the drugs again being turned over to Waynesboro PD for testing
