Commissioners in the April 1 IL — The consolidated election is set for April 1 with early voting underway and wrapping up March 31 Three spots are up for grabs on the Tinley Park-Park District Board of Commissioners with six candidates jockeying for the seats Candidates align with slates led either by incumbent Mayor Michael Glotz Running under Glotz's One Tinley Park slate are Lisa Butler and Don Cuba are with Maloney's Tinley Together slate Patch provided a questionnaire for all candidates Their responses are now published in candidate profiles Tinley Park Better Together Does anyone in your family work in politics or government This includes any relatives who work in the government you're running for I have over 20 years of working in healthcare and community service Previous or current elected or appointed office: The most pressing issues facing our (board and this is what I intend to do about them Many challenges face our Park District - keeping crime low at our facilities cleaning up the Tinley Park Mental Health Center and putting together a great 4th of July fireworks celebration once again I recently led a meeting with the Mayor and the Village Board to discuss the return of the McCarthy Park fireworks We unanimously agreed to host the fireworks there allowing our unified command team — not politicians with vested interests — to make safety decisions are exceptional and must be empowered to fulfill their roles effectively What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post and I chose to raise my family here because I love this community I am an independent thinker - the only consideration that will affect my decisions will be whatever is best for our residents and for our Park District The residents elect the Park District commissioners to represent them so I will not allow local state legislators dictate my actions in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency) That's why I'm so upset that some of our current Park District commissioners are letting politics get in the way of progress The Park District staff are my friends and fellow residents - we can't allow them to be mistreated like this and I won't allow that to happen again when I'm on the Board The politicians on the Park District right now are failing Tinley Park by allowing political interference to distract from the mission of responsibly and fairly governing our Park District without fear or favor Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform I have heard from multiple residents that the dog park has issues so I will be working with my fellow Park District commissioners and the residents to address the problems directly and identify solutions immediately What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job I proudly serve as a Commissioner on the Senior Services Commission where I advocate for programs that support the well-being and engagement of Tinley Park’s senior community My role highlights my commitment to creating inclusive opportunities that benefit residents across generations my neighbors and friends know how much I love Tinley Park and our Parks It would be an absolute honor to volunteer my time as a commissioner what accomplishment would make your term in office as a success I look forward to bringing back the fireworks to McCarthy Park working alongside the rest of the Park District and the Village I look forward to developing the 280 acres of land at the TPMHC in a way that benefits all residents government spending and the handling of taxpayer dollars in the office you are seeking Fiscal responsibility is one of my top priorities I believe it is important for all public officials to recognize their responsibility to spend public money effectively since our hardworking residents are the ones that pay taxes to the Village to fund our services I will commit to resisting unnecessary tax increases so that residents can keep more of their hard-earned money in their pockets What are your thoughts on the crime rate in your community and what more can be done to combat crime — especially violent crime — in town This is due to the diligent efforts of our Village to invest in public safety What is your view of the Village's approach to commercial and residential development I fully support the Village's current support to development led by Mayor Glotz and the Village Board and staff they have brought in over $500 million dollars in new development which has allowed the Village to keep taxes low Since the increased development has provided new opportunities for tax revenues the Village has been able to provide improved services to Tinley Park residents without increasing taxes what are some key areas for improvement or additions you feel are most wanted by residents What will need to be done to make this happen I don't see any areas for improvement; the Village is doing a remarkable job except I would like to see our Village and Park District working together on the TPMHC Is there any reason you would not serve your full term of office I have no intention of stepping down early What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions I have spent my entire life in Tinley Park Receiving the endorsement of former Mayor Ed Zabrocki is a significant achievement and I am honored that he has confidence in my ability to carry on the work he began I would be grateful for your trust and support in keeping ensure fiscal responsibility and efficient operations I have been a dedicated community volunteer for many years actively contributing to organizations and initiatives that improve the quality of life for Tinley Park families One of the most pressing issues facing Tinley Park is responsible fiscal management yet the cost of living—including property taxes and fees—continues to rise and residents provided with the transparency they deserve in budgeting and spending I understand firsthand the dedication and sacrifices our law enforcement officers make every day and strong community support to keep Tinley Park safe I will advocate for strengthening our police department and ensuring they have the resources they need to protect our families community unity and collaboration need to be the best possible services to residents and manage resources effectively will allow me to make informed decisions that keep Tinley Park financially stable while lowering costs for families my leadership in community redevelopment initiatives demonstrates my commitment to responsible growth and long-term planning that benefits all residents I am a mother and the wife of a police officer giving me a deep personal connection to the values of family I understand firsthand the sacrifices our law enforcement officers make and the importance of ensuring they are fairly compensated My experience as a community volunteer and advocate for family-friendly initiatives has shown me how important it is to restore partnerships My vision for Tinley Park is one of fiscal responsibility accountable government that always puts them first Families in Tinley Park deserve responsible budgeting and leadership that prioritizes their needs and fees have put unnecessary strain on households while millions of dollars in reserves remain unused As a procurement professional and a mother I understand the importance of smart spending and financial accountability—just like any family manages their budget carefully and ensure that every dollar is spent wisely to benefit our community Our police officers work hard to protect us I see firsthand the dedication and sacrifices they make I will advocate for fair contracts and strong community support to ensure Tinley Park remains a safe place for families I want to help restore trust and bring people together—supporting partnerships and open conversations that make our town feel like home thoughtful approach to leadership that keeps Tinley Park affordable I’m running for Village Trustee to ensure fiscal responsibility and a strong sense of community in Tinley Park and they deserve transparent leadership that prioritizes their needs and wasteful spending have placed an unfair burden on residents and explore tax relief options so Tinley Park remains an affordable place to live growth and development should be done responsibly attracting businesses and creating jobs without placing additional financial burdens on taxpayers Our police officers work tirelessly to protect our community and the resources they need to do their jobs effectively I want to help restore the sense of unity that makes Tinley Park special and bringing back the traditions and events that bring our town together community-focused approach to ensure Tinley Park remains safe and ensuring resources are used efficiently My experience has taught me how to analyze financials and make responsible spending decisions—important skills for ensuring that Tinley Park operates efficiently and remains financially stable Just like any family or business carefully manages its budget our village should do the same by eliminating waste and making smart financial choices that benefit residents contributing to projects like the Remediate 280 committee which focused costs and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely Families should feel confident that their village government is working for them A strong community is also a safe and connected one I want to ensure that our police officers have the resources I believe in rebuilding partnerships and bringing back the traditions and events that make Tinley Park feel like home but it should always benefit residents first—supporting businesses and improving the village without adding unnecessary costs My goal is simple: to help keep Tinley Park a safe and welcoming place for all families to live and thrive I believe fiscal responsibility is essential to ensuring Tinley Park remains an affordable and well-managed community Just like families carefully budget their household expenses our village should be thoughtful and efficient with every dollar spent Residents should never have to shoulder unnecessary costs or hidden fees and tax dollars should always be used in ways that directly benefit the community I support a full financial review to identify inefficiencies and cut wasteful spending along with exploring tax relief options to give families some financial breathing room Growth and development should also be done responsibly—boosting the local economy and creating jobs without placing additional financial burdens on taxpayers A well-managed budget should reflect the priorities of the people ensuring that every investment helps make Tinley Park a stronger Public safety should always be a top priority and our law enforcement officers have not received the support they need to keep our community safe and low morale have made it harder for our officers to do their jobs effectively and this has contributed to a rise in crime Families deserve to feel safe in their homes and we must do more to address these concerns before they escalate further The best way to combat crime is through a strong well-supported police force and an engaged community and the resources our officers need to do their jobs effectively and ensure residents have a voice in public safety decisions A proactive approach—one that combines support for law enforcement with community-driven solutions—is the key to restoring safety and ensuring Tinley Park remains a secure Tinley Park is a wonderful community with great potential for growth but development must be done responsibly and with residents in mind Smart planning can help attract family-friendly businesses and enhance quality of life—but it should never come at the expense of our residents and focused on strengthening our local economy while preserving the character of our town I support revitalizing commercial areas like Oak Park Avenue and 183rd Street to attract businesses that serve families and contribute to a thriving local economy The redevelopment of the Mental Health Center site is a key opportunity to create a well-planned multi-use space that benefits the entire community residential growth should be carefully planned to enhance home values and maintain the high quality of life that makes Tinley Park a great place to live Development should always put residents first ensuring that our community grows in a way that is sustainable and aligned with the needs of the people who call Tinley Park home Tinley Park has a great opportunity for growth but development should always be thoughtful I believe that every decision about development should be made with long-term sustainability One of the most important projects ahead is the redevelopment of the Tinley Park Mental Health Center site this space can become a vibrant hub for families past delays and poor planning have stalled progress leaving an unused site that could have been an asset to the community we need leadership that will ensure this project is completed efficiently with transparency and community input at every step For this redevelopment to truly benefit residents That means partnering with the Park District to expand parks and recreational opportunities while ensuring that business development creates jobs Growth should enhance Tinley Park without creating financial burdens for residents and every decision should be made with accountability and transparency I will bring my experience in strategic planning and financial oversight to make sure this development is handled efficiently and in a way that keeps Tinley Park a Tinley Together including over 18 years at Ann & Robert H dedicating my career to caring for families and advocating for those in need and leadership has prepared me to serve Tinley Park with honesty I have always put people before politics—and as Village Clerk One of the biggest challenges facing Tinley Park families is the rising cost of living While the village holds onto millions in reserves families are being asked to pay more without relief the current administration continues to raise fees and add hidden charges Families shouldn’t have to struggle to afford to live in the town they love That’s why I support rebating property taxes to ease the burden on homeowners and auditing the Water Department to ensure billing is fair and transparent Our police officers have gone more than 700 days without a fair contract or pay raise and staffing shortages have put additional strain on our department Officers who protect our families deserve respect We need to make sure Tinley Park remains a safe we need to restore trust and unity in our community The current administration has divided our town cutting ties with the Park District and canceling cherished traditions like the 4th of July fireworks at McCarthy Park Tinley Park is at its best when we come together as neighbors and friends I will work to rebuild these relationships and ensure government decisions are made openly and honestly—because residents deserve to feel heard The Village Clerk’s Office should be a trusted resource for residents—a place where people can find answers partisanship and division have taken priority over serving the community The role of Village Clerk is not about politics—it’s about trust and making sure residents have access to the information they need I understand the everyday challenges families face—whether it’s managing rising costs or simply trying to get clear answers from local government That’s why I am committed to restoring trust in the Village Clerk’s Office and making it a true resource for residents ensuring that residents can easily access records and feel confident that their local government is working for them—not against them I will always take a family-first approach prioritizing decisions that support the needs of Tinley Park families over politics I will run the office with professionalism and integrity ensuring that people—not political agendas—come first Tinley Park deserves a Village Clerk who listens and puts families at the heart of every decision That’s the kind of leadership I will bring Instead of working together to improve our town the current administration has allowed division and secrecy to take over Transparency in local government is lacking The Village Clerk’s Office should be a resource for residents Families deserve to know where their tax dollars are going.Meanwhile Property taxes and water bills have increased No family should have to guess when it comes to their household budget Perhaps most concerning is how our community has been divided and putting politics before people has only hurt residents Residents should always have access to information taxpayer dollars must be managed responsibly and our community should feel united—not divided we can bring Tinley Park back to the people I am running for Village Clerk because families deserve leaders who listen and accountability so residents feel heard One of my top priorities is easing the financial burden on families by lowering property taxes and reducing unnecessary fees and families should have clarity and confidence in how their money is being managed I will also work to strengthen communication between residents and local government ensuring that everyone has access to clear and I will advocate for fair contracts and better resources for our police officers so they can do their jobs effectively and keep our community safe I want to rebuild trust in local leadership ensuring that decisions are made with honesty and the best interests of Tinley Park families in mind Tinley Park is more than just a town—it’s home and a place where families feel proud to live for generations to come I have been a trusted advocate for families working in high-pressure environments where clear decision-making and accountability are critical and compassion—values that will guide me in serving as Village Clerk I understand the everyday challenges families face—from managing finances to ensuring a safe and supportive community and thoughtful decision-making are all essential to keeping Tinley Park a great place to live and raise a family I deeply care about this town and the people who call it home and service has prepared me to restore trust in the Village Clerk’s Office ensuring that local government is transparent and truly serves the residents of Tinley Park and a neighbor who truly cares about this community My career has been built on advocating for families I am running because Tinley Park deserves better—leaders who listen I have no political agenda—only a deep commitment to serving the people of this town residents should trust that I will always put people first and a place where families feel valued and heard Success as Village Clerk means that every resident feels heard and Tinley Park remains a wonderful place to live and raise a family My goal is to make the Clerk’s Office a true resource for residents—a place where they can find answers A successful term would mean lowering costs for families by securing property tax rebates and auditing water bills to ensure fair pricing and financial relief It also means restoring the community traditions that bring us together like bringing back the 4th of July fireworks and rebuilding partnerships with local organizations to strengthen our town Residents should have easy access to government records and confidence that their local government is working for them I will make sure that Tinley Park families always come first As a dedicated healthcare professional and longtime Tinley Park resident I understand the importance of making every dollar count our local government should do the same—with honesty residents have been asked to pay more while receiving less in return and yet millions of dollars sit unused in reserves the current administration continues to raise fees with no clear explanation I will work to bring fairness and accountability back to Tinley Park’s finances auditing village spending to eliminate waste and fixing water billing practices to prevent unnecessary fees and rising costs we must invest in what makes our community strong—safe neighborhoods Tinley Park deserves leadership that respects hard work and ensures local government is working for the people—not against them I am committed to making sure Tinley Park remains a community where financial responsibility comes first and where every resident feels valued and heard Every family deserves to feel safe in their community—to know their children can play outside and grow up in a town where neighbors look out for one another According to the Tinley Park Police Department crime has increased significantly from 2020-2024 compared to 2017-2020 motor vehicle thefts have more than doubled and robberies and arsons have also increased our police officers have gone 700 days without a pay raise and 365 days without a contract leaving the department understaffed and stretched thin The men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting our town deserve the support and resources they need to keep our community safe I will work to strengthen public safety by ensuring fair contracts for officers and providing the tools they need to do their jobs effectively A strong partnership between law enforcement and the community is key to building trust Keeping our town safe isn’t about politics—it’s about responsibility Families deserve leadership that values public safety and takes meaningful action to protect our community and ensure Tinley Park remains a welcoming and secure place for generations to come responsible development is key to a thriving community—one that supports families Growth should be thoughtful and well-planned bringing new opportunities while keeping our town affordable and welcoming We have an exciting opportunity to revitalize vacant commercial areas like Oak Park Avenue The 183rd and Harlem area and the Tinley Park Mental Health Center site could be transformed into vibrant spaces with parks working in partnership with the Park District and local officials to benefit residents Our 80th Avenue train station can also serve as a hub for economic growth helping local businesses thrive while increasing property values Expanding parks and recreational facilities will give youth sports groups like the Bobcats and Bulldogs the resources they need to succeed making Tinley Park an even better place for families Every decision must be made with transparency and a commitment to preserving the character of our town I will work to ensure that development strengthens our community and protects what makes Tinley Park special and leadership that puts families at the heart of every decision Thoughtful development isn’t just about building new spaces—it’s about creating a community where families thrive Tinley Park has an incredible opportunity ahead with the redevelopment of the Tinley Park Mental Health Center site it can bring lasting benefits for generations to come With strong community input and careful planning rebuild partnerships—especially with the Park District—and ensure that families have a voice in the process A successful plan should include expanded parks giving youth programs like the Bobcats and Bulldogs the resources they need and provide property tax relief for residents every decision must be made with transparency and accountability ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and in ways that truly benefit the community I will fight for responsible development that puts families first and ensures that growth strengthens—not burdens—our town Because our community deserves nothing less and someone who cares deeply about this community and focused on serving others—not politics and making sure development benefits families—not special interests Too much time has been wasted on division and poor decisions Tinley Park deserves leadership that listens and always put families at the heart of every decision—because when we work together 2025 at 11:45 am CT.css-79elbk{position:relative;}A cleanup contractor was fined nearly $40,000 for failing to meet safety criteria during demolition at the Tinley Park Mental Health Center property IL — Village leaders on Tuesday rebuked the Tinley Park-Park District citing nearly $40,000 in fines against a contractor tasked with cleanup at the dilapidated Tinley Mental Health Center land Village Manager Pat Carr pointed out the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's fine for safety violations by a demolition contractor A report detailing the fine lays out that work Omega II LLC performed on a building at 7600 W 24 involving demolition of interior walls coated with lead-based paint disregarded safety protocol found that the contractor did not collect personal samples to determine employees' exposure to lead and did not provide appropriate change areas in turn exposing employees to lead hazards “This involves the safety and well-being of our residents employees and visitors of our great village,” Carr said during the conference “There were three serious violations that were noted that put employees at risk for lead exposure What is really disturbing is the fact that this is all preventable What we know now is that there is zero management oversight on this property.” Carr went on to say that the park district had hired a prominent environmental legal firm and a project manager whose job is to monitor the site Park district officials responded promptly following the conference the park district and Village have been sparring over the property for some time "The contractor responded on the spot—during the OSHA site visit—and put in place safety precautions to remedy the issue," reads their statement We will continue to ensure diligence by the contractor at the site." Carr on Tuesday said in the park district's assuming ownership of the land Village officials with historical knowledge of the property its buildings and infrastructure have essentially been shut out of its future “What’s done is done in relationship to the ownership of this property,” Carr said “And I don’t blame the staff or the park district because unfortunately they have never undertook a project like this The "environmental debacle" comes down to state legislators "have pitted professional staffs against each other .. Carr said that the Village has no say in the processes surrounding the property stating that it's due to Hastings and Rita negating the Village's home rule governance on the land "They weaponized their legislative power to write us out of our own home rule authority," Carr said Legislation advanced eliminated the need for permitting for the project safety measures and more involving contaminants and debris at the property "We just take their word for it," Carr said He then called for state and federal regulatory and investigative agencies to dig into the project "for the protection of our residents Visibly absent from the conference was Mayor Michael Glotz who's running for reelection leading the One Tinley Park slate was a "political stunt packed with false information in the middle of an election season "This press conference was nothing more than sour grapes from an administration that was unable to clean up this site on its own and a sad reflection of the leadership at Village Hall," the statement reads "The fact is that multiple layers of government are overseeing this project and routine documentation and reporting for the government’s review the General Assembly removed the Village’s oversight and allowed the state and federal agencies with expertise to step in." have always been against the park district's ownership and planned overhaul of the property "The Village has always opposed our clean-up efforts and without the help of our legislators to acquire a $15 million grant we would not have been able to clean the site," the statement reads we have made great progress in cleaning the site and making it open land for our community." 1 I am retired after a 40 year successful career in leadership I previously served as President of Pipefitters Local Union #597 where I was responsible for over 10,000 active and retired members overseeing 600 employees across two dual-unit nuclear power plants and I managed $100 million in infrastructure upgrades and maintenance for Illinois' nuclear fleet of power plants My experience in leading large-scale projects and overseeing major infrastructure improvements has prepared me to bring strong leadership Our community is built on hardworking families and a shared commitment to making Tinley Park a great place to live Providing Property Tax ReliefProperty taxes have become a burden on families and homeowners and the village has the means to provide relief Instead of sitting on millions in reserves we should be returning money to the people through a property tax rebate program similar to what other municipalities have successfully implemented Our community deserves leaders who prioritize fiscal responsibility and work to lower costs not those who continue raising taxes while blaming others Fixing Water Bills & FeesBeyond property taxes residents have been hit with skyrocketing water bills and unexplained fees and lawsuits over faulty water meters have left families paying more while receiving no clear answers The village needs a full audit of its water billing system to ensure that families aren’t being overcharged and that taxpayer dollars are managed responsibly Supporting Our Police & Keeping Families SafePublic safety should never be a political issue Our police officers work tirelessly to protect our families yet they’ve gone 700 days without a pay raise and a year without a fair contract leaving our department understaffed and stretched too thin and the resources to do their jobs effectively so that every family in Tinley Park feels safe in their home and community Restoring Trust & Bringing Our Community TogetherOne of the most concerning issues facing our town is division and broken relationships between local leaders and community organizations the current administration has canceled cherished events Tinley Park is at its best when we come together as a community and it’s time for leadership that builds bridges and more united Tinley Park—one that we are all proud to call home I’m running for Mayor of Tinley Park because our town deserves leadership that unites I believe in bringing people together to find solutions and create a thriving community for families and businesses alike led one of Illinois’ most respected trades organizations and overseen major infrastructure projects that power our state reliable energy for Illinois families and have helped shape public policy that prioritizes stability and cost-effectiveness These experiences have reinforced my belief in collaboration and putting people first—values I will bring to the office of mayor This election is about building a stronger and works toward a shared vision for the future and a commitment to the people of Tinley Park I ask for your support to help make that happen but families deserve a local government that prioritizes their needs while millions of dollars in reserves sit unused—funds that should be helping residents families are paying more while receiving less The high cost of living is only part of the problem Water bills have skyrocketed due to hidden administrative fees and frequent billing cycles that mask rate increases residents are left without clear answers on why these costs continue to climb Families shouldn’t have to navigate confusion and uncertainty just to pay their bills—they deserve fair As a father and a leader who believes in accountability I know that trust and transparency are the foundation of good government Tinley Park families work hard to build their futures here and they deserve leaders who will put them first We need a fresh start—one that focuses on affordability we can make Tinley Park stronger for the next generation too many relationships in Tinley Park have been broken—between local leaders and the very people who call this town home Leadership isn’t about division; it’s about bringing people together and making decisions that benefit everyone supportive presence—someone residents can turn to and works toward solutions with fairness and integrity Whether it’s restoring partnerships with the Park District ensuring open communication with residents or working side by side with our first responders and local businesses we need leadership that brings people together Tinley Park deserves a leader who puts families first and make decisions that put families first and taking action that benefits the community as a whole My experience has prepared me to serve as mayor This town is more than just where we live—it’s where we build our futures I want to make sure Tinley Park remains affordable and filled with opportunity for generations to come and making thoughtful decisions that benefit everyone experienced leadership to Tinley Park—prioritizing public safety and ensuring our local government works for the people we can build a brighter future and keep Tinley Park a place we’re all proud to call home Voters should trust me because I have nothing to hide and every reason to serve this community with integrity I’m not a career politician—I’m someone who cares deeply about the families I believe our community deserves leadership that listens and a commitment to doing things the right way and handled millions of dollars with transparency and accountability That is the kind of leadership I will bring to Tinley Park too many decisions are being made without the best interests of residents in mind Property taxes have gone up while the village sits on millions of dollars water bills continue to rise without clear explanations and political games have taken priority over real solutions not divide—leaders who put people over politics I’m not running for personal gain or political power—I’m running because I love this town and want to see it thrive and ensure Tinley Park is led with fairness I will always put residents first—because that’s what leadership should be about success means making Tinley Park a better place for our families to live we know firsthand the challenges families here are facing Raising a family is expensive enough without skyrocketing property taxes and higher water bills The village is sitting on millions of dollars they’ve raised our taxes and tacked on hidden fees to our water bills Success means fighting for a property tax rebate and making sure families can afford to stay in the community we love Keeping Our Families & Neighborhoods Safe Every parent wants to know their kids are safe playing outside and that their home is protected They haven’t had a raise in 700 days and have been without a contract for over a year That’s not how you treat the men and women who keep us safe and resources they need to protect our families and neighborhoods Tinley Park used to be a place where neighbors worked together but this administration has divided our town instead of uniting it They cut ties with the Tinley Park Park District and played politics instead of putting our community first Our kids deserve the same traditions we grew up with and success means bringing people together again and making Tinley Park a place we can all be proud of We’re not running for office to play politics; we’re running because we love this town and want the best for our families and make Tinley Park the best place to raise a family Fiscal responsibility means respecting the hard-earned money of Tinley Park residents and ensuring that every tax dollar is spent wisely our local government must do the same—with transparency property taxes have risen while the village sits on millions in reserves water bills have increased due to hidden fees and confusing rate changes leaving residents frustrated and without clear answers Families shouldn’t have to pay more while getting less and taxpayer dollars must be managed wisely and fairly I will push for property tax rebates to return surplus funds to residents a full audit of village finances to eliminate wasteful spending and lower fees by fixing Tinley Park’s water billing system to ensure fair and transparent pricing Investments should prioritize public safety Just as families make careful financial decisions Every financial choice should be made with the best interests of residents in mind and family-friendly for generations to come I believe that every family deserves to feel safe in their own neighborhood Parents should have peace of mind knowing that their children can play outside putting a strain on both our residents and our police department According to the Tinley Park Police Department’s Annual Crime Summary violent and property crimes have risen compared to the previous four years These aren’t just numbers—they represent families who have been impacted our police officers have been without a pay raise for over 700 days and several experienced chiefs and commanders have resigned or retired Without strong leadership and proper support our officers cannot effectively prevent crime and keep our community safe we can ensure responsible growth that strengthens our economy and makes our town an even better place to raise a family Our village should be a place where businesses thrive families have access to great community resources and taxpayer dollars are spent wisely to create long-term prosperity The future of Tinley Park depends on smart investments and thoughtful planning That means revitalizing key commercial areas ensuring vacant storefronts on Oak Park Avenue and 183rd Street are filled with businesses that truly serve our residents It also means transforming the Tinley Park Mental Health Center site into a multi-use space that creates economic opportunities while expanding parks and recreation for families We must also leverage the 80th Avenue train station as an economic hub Expanding parks and recreational opportunities is another key priority—programs like the Bobcats and Bulldogs deserve better access to fields and facilities so that kids and families can fully enjoy all that Tinley Park has to offer Smart development should generate revenue that reduces the tax burden on families—not increase it Our community deserves leadership that collaborates we can build a thriving future for families attract businesses that add value to our town and create a community that people are proud to call home Tinley Park’s best days are ahead—let’s make them a reality together The future of Tinley Park depends on thoughtful responsible development that enhances our quality of life and keeps our town a wonderful place to raise a family family-friendly asset that benefits our community for generations offering easy access to expressways and the potential to bring new opportunities for businesses past political infighting and mismanagement have led to missed opportunities we need leadership that prioritizes collaboration and the best interests of Tinley Park families the community must have a voice in shaping its future Strong partnerships with the Park District and local organizations will help create parks and family-friendly amenities that serve residents and youth programs like the Bobcats and Bulldogs Any development must also attract responsible businesses that create jobs and provide long-term tax relief for homeowners ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and that development truly benefits Tinley Park families This project is about more than just new buildings—it’s about shaping the future of our community I will ensure this development is done the right way—with smart planning and a focus on what’s best for the families who call Tinley Park home I want the people of Tinley Park to know that I am not a politician—I’m a husband and longtime resident who loves this town and wants to see it thrive and making responsible financial decisions that have had a real impact and ensuring that Tinley Commissioners in the April 1 My husband and I are both educators who work in public school districts during which I have had the privilege of serving as a classroom teacher I have a genuine passion for working with both students and teachers and the greatest reward is witnessing the "lightbulb moments" when individuals of all ages learn new skills Those moments of growth and understanding make every challenge worthwhile and continue to inspire my work every day Safe and Responsible Remediation of the Property Formerly known as the Tinley Park Mental Health Center This property has been a hazardous eyesore in our community for far too long Through collaboration with the State of Illinois and our representatives we have ensured that local tax funds will not be used to clean up this once state-owned land who have been involved with this site since shortly after its closure we are working closely with other governmental agencies to ensure that the remediation process is conducted in the safest manner possible to protect our local residents The Tinley Park Park District has a wide variety of programs for people of all ages My commitment is to continue to provide high-quality recreational programs while expanding these opportunities to ensure an inclusive and exceptional recreational experience that exceeds the expectations of people of all ages Rebuild the Partnership between the Village and the Park District The partnership between the Village and the Park District has unfortunately been strained leading to negative consequences for our residents The discontinuation of agreements such as those for fuel and salt as well as the relocation of the long-standing July 4th celebration are just a few examples of how this breakdown has affected our community The core mission of any government should be to work collaboratively for the benefit of its residents Despite numerous efforts to engage with the Village it has become clear that they are unwilling to cooperate in good faith for the best interests of the residents of Tinley Park Our community needs elected officials who are ready to set aside personal differences and work together for the greater good I am committed to working with all elected officials to ensure that we are moving forward in a way that benefits all Tinley Park residents Maintaining and Improving Current Park District Facilities and Park The Park District has made significant strides in renovating and updating our facilities and parks to ensure they remain inclusive and relevant to the needs of our residents we are able to maximize funding and create exceptional recreational spaces A recent example of this success is the renovation of Buedingen Park It is truly rewarding to see our parks filled with residents enjoying themselves their laughter and smiles a testament to the impact of these improvements I am committed to continuing these efforts to upgrade our parks and facilities and enhance the overall experience for users of all ages the Park District has successfully maintained a 0% tax levy for our residents We have dedicated ourselves to enhancing our facilities and programs without imposing additional costs on the community I remain committed to continuing this approach by prioritizing fiscal responsibility while enhancing the experiences we offer I understand the importance of fostering a strong I live and breathe the Park District programs daily I can personally experience what is working and where improvements are needed listening to the needs and desires of our residents regarding parks and recreation I do not personally know any of the three candidates running against me and the other incumbents I have not seen them present at Park District meetings I have not seen them at any of the events or programs I have attended nor have I heard about their plans or ideas for improving our Park District I believe that in order to make a meaningful impact one must be present to fully understand the experiences of our residents engage with patrons and employees to identify both successes and challenges and maintain an open line of communication with all stakeholders This is the approach I bring to my current role and my continued commitment moving forward Recreation and Wellness for All AgesFiscal Responsibility and Sustainable GrowthTransparency and AccountabilityPublic Safety and Support for First Responders Let's work together to ensure Tinley Park remains a great place to live With 18 years of experience in the education field I have had the privilege of working with people of all ages I hold a Master's Degree in School Leadership which has allowed me to develop strong leadership skills aimed at improving student learning outcomes I have gained valuable insights that I can apply to the parks and recreation field enhancing programming and ensuring that the diverse needs of our community are met Over the past four years as a Commissioner I have worked collaboratively to improve facilities and parks maintain a balanced budget with a 0% tax levy increase and enhance programs for residents of all ages Key accomplishments include securing the Mental Health Center property and a $15 million grant from the State for remediation as well as securing several OSLAD grants to enhance parks such as Buedingen These efforts reflect my ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for all Tinley Park residents Voters should trust me because I am deeply committed to our community and have a proven track record of delivering results I understand the unique needs of Tinley Park hands-on perspective to the issues that matter most and working collaboratively to improve our parks and recreation programs without raising taxes with a background in education and a Master's in School Leadership which allows me to bring strategic thinking and effective collaboration to my work and working together to address the concerns of all residents You can trust that I will continue to advocate for what’s best for our community and ensure that we move forward in a positive direction The accomplishments that would make this term in office a success include the safe remediation of the Mental Health Center property fostering a collaborative relationship between the Village restoring cherished family traditions like the July 4th celebration and continuing the improvement of our parks and facilities These goals reflect my commitment to creating a safer I believe in a fiscally responsible approach to managing taxpayer dollars My priority is to maintain a balanced budget that ensures the efficient use of funds while minimizing the financial burden on residents This means carefully evaluating every expense and seeking innovative solutions to fund necessary projects without raising taxes we can continue to enhance our community while safeguarding the financial well-being of our residents I believe in transparency and accountability when it comes to government spending Taxpayer dollars should be used efficiently with a clear focus on enhancing public services and ensuring the community’s needs are met This will ensure that we continue to provide high-quality services without compromising the financial stability of our community The safety of our community is a top priority and I understand that concerns about crime While Tinley Park has historically been a safe place to live we must remain vigilant and proactive in addressing crime The first step in addressing crime is to ensure that our first responders have the resources and support they need to effectively do their jobs The fact that our police department has not received a pay increase or a new contract for over a year sends the wrong message—that as a community we are not fully supporting the critical work they do every day It’s essential that we provide our police officers with the tools and equipment they need to keep our community safe while also ensuring that they feel valued and supported By ensuring that our first responders are properly compensated and equipped we send a strong message that we stand behind them fostering strong relationships between law enforcement and the community is vital to building trust and collaboration When our officers know that the community fully supports their work they are better positioned to protect and serve us all we need a collaborative approach between local law enforcement Strengthening relationships with our police department and supporting initiatives like community policing can help increase visibility and trust between residents and officers and supporting neighborhood watch programs can also help reduce crime and make residents feel safer combating crime requires both proactive measures and a strong sense of community involvement and I am committed to supporting these efforts to ensure that Tinley Park remains a safe place for all residents My view on the Village’s approach to commercial and residential development is that it should prioritize sustainable growth while preserving the character of our community Development should be thoughtful and intentional ensuring we meet the needs of our growing population while maintaining the quality of life that makes Tinley Park such a wonderful place to live my hope is that one day they will choose to raise their families here too the development we pursue should focus not only on financial stability for our residents but also on creating family-friendly spaces that will attract people of all ages to our community We should aim to foster an environment where families and residents can thrive together for generations to come Community input and collaboration with residents are crucial to ensure that development aligns with the needs and desires of the people who call Tinley Park home I support growth that enhances our town while respecting the values that make it unique there are several key areas for improvement or additions that I believe would be highly valued by residents More Family-Friendly Spaces: Many residents desire more parks and recreational spaces that are designed with families in mind This would not only provide a safe and fun environment for children but also offer opportunities for family gatherings and outdoor activities we would need to prioritize investments in our park district seek out additional funding through grants or partnerships and involve the community in planning these spaces to ensure they meet the needs of all age groups Public Sports and Recreation Programs for Adults: While there are great opportunities for children’s sports and recreational programs adding more activities and leagues for adults could promote wellness across all age groups These programs can be offered in local parks Expanded Public Safety Initiatives: In addition to improving resources for first responders expanding public safety programs such as neighborhood watch or crime prevention education could further reduce crime rates creating emergency preparedness programs to educate residents about handling natural disasters or other crises could make the community safer The key takeaway is that we can achieve these goals without raising taxes for our residents resourceful approach that emphasizes fiscal responsibility and collaboration we can implement a variety of initiatives to enhance our community forming partnerships with the private sector and nonprofits we can fund important projects without burdening taxpayers we can continue to improve our community while maintaining financial stability Working together and leveraging all available resources will ensure we move forward with the best interests of our residents in mind As a lifelong Tinley Park resident and a mother of three I have a personal investment in ensuring our community continues to thrive and be a great place for families to live I am deeply committed to serving the needs of our community with integrity My approach is one of collaboration and listening I believe that in order to make meaningful progress it is essential to actively engage with residents and work together to find practical solutions and community involvement allows me to bring a unique perspective to the table—one that values both fiscal responsibility and the importance of creating opportunities for all members of our community my focus is on improving the quality of life for every resident without raising taxes I am dedicated to working in partnership with all stakeholders to ensure that we build a stronger more inclusive Tinley Park for today and for future generations I ask for your trust and support in this election we will work to continue moving our community forward 2025 at 4:31 pm CT.css-79elbk{position:relative;}Matthew Walsh is seeking to become a Tinley Park Village Trustee in the April 1 Tinley Together I proudly served as a Chief of Police in a suburban municipality and as the former Chief of Police in Tinley Park bringing over three decades of law enforcement experience dedicated to keeping our community safe I focused on fostering trust between law enforcement and residents implementing effective public safety initiatives and ensuring our officers had the necessary resources to protect and serve and leadership has prepared me to serve as a strong and accountable Trustee for Tinley Park One of the most urgent issues facing Tinley Park is public safety and our police officers have been without a contract for over a year and without a pay raise for 700 days the department remains understaffed and overworked putting unnecessary strain on the officers who risk their lives to protect our community We need leadership that will prioritize public safety by ensuring officers receive fair contracts and the resources needed to keep Tinley Park safe Another major concern is the lack of transparency and accountability in local government Residents deserve clear answers about where their tax dollars are going yet the current administration continues to operate behind closed doors I will fight for full transparency in budgeting ensuring that residents have access to the information they need and a voice in their local government economic growth and financial responsibility must be a priority Tinley Park has the potential to revitalize commercial areas like Oak Park Avenue bringing in businesses that serve families and create local jobs The village must also cut wasteful spending and provide financial relief to homeowners I support rebating property taxes to ease the burden on residents and conducting a full audit of village finances to eliminate unnecessary fees and hidden costs I have dedicated my career to serving and protecting this community I understand the challenges of public safety and working with residents to keep Tinley Park secure and accountability has prepared me to bring a steady and professional approach to the Village Board While other candidates have ignored crime concerns and undervalued our police force I will fight for the resources our officers need to do their jobs effectively I will also ensure transparency in government spending and decision-making so residents know exactly where their tax dollars are going A strong and thriving community starts with safe neighborhoods and a well-supported police force but Tinley Park’s leadership has failed to prioritize public safety yet our dedicated police officers have been without a contract for over a year and without a raise for 700 days Instead of providing officers with the resources and staffing they need to keep residents safe leaving law enforcement overworked and understaffed Public safety isn’t the only area suffering from poor leadership—residents are paying more while getting less Instead of transparency and open communication the administration has made financial decisions behind closed doors leaving residents with no clear understanding of how their tax dollars are being spent Perhaps most concerning is how division has replaced collaboration canceling beloved community events like the 4th of July fireworks and misusing village resources for political purposes the administration has weakened the very sense of unity and partnership that makes Tinley Park special I will work to restore trust in local government and ensure that our police officers have the support they need to protect our families strong Tinley Park starts with leadership that listens The safety of our families is my top priority Every parent deserves to feel confident that their children can play outside we must ensure that our police officers are supported with fair contracts and the resources they need to keep our community safe well-supported police department is key to building trust between law enforcement and residents and make sure every family feels protected in their neighborhood I believe that fiscal responsibility is essential for a thriving community Property taxes and water bills should not place an undue burden on families and ensure that taxpayer dollars are used wisely and responsibly we need to invest in the future of Tinley Park by supporting responsible development that brings in businesses I am committed to ensuring that Tinley Park remains a safe I have dedicated myself to public service and community safety As the former Chief of Police of Tinley Park I spent years ensuring the safety of residents fostering trust between law enforcement and the community and managing crisis situations with effective leadership With over three decades in law enforcement I have firsthand experience in public safety operations and policy implementation—skills that are essential for effective governance in Business Administration from Elmhurst College and graduation from Northwestern Staff and Command and the FBI National Academy has further equipped me with strategic planning and decision-making expertise necessary to serve as a responsible Trustee I have always been an active and engaged member of our community As a longtime resident of Tinley Park and a member of the Knights of Columbus I have consistently demonstrated my commitment to service I understand the importance of fostering a safe and thriving environment where families can grow and residents feel a true sense of community I am confident in my ability to serve as a strong and accountable Trustee for Tinley Park I have dedicated a significant portion of my career to protecting and serving the residents of Tinley Park I am not a politician—I am a public servant who has committed my life to improving this community and I will always put the needs of residents ahead of politics While others may have withheld information and failed to provide clear answers I will work to bring transparency and integrity back to local government My decisions will always be rooted in what is best for the people of Tinley Park Trust and accountability will guide every choice I make Success as Trustee means creating safer neighborhoods and providing financial relief for families My top priority is to ensure that our police department is fully staffed and that Tinley Park continues to be a safe place to live and raise a family Our law enforcement officers are the backbone of our community's safety and they deserve the support and resources they need to protect us I will also work to restore transparency in local government ensuring that residents have full access to financial decisions and budgeting processes I will strive to reduce costs for families by cutting unnecessary fees success means that Tinley Park is moving forward with strong leadership Every decision I make will be with the well-being of our families and the safety of our police officers at the forefront I have seen firsthand the importance of responsible budgeting and ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used wisely Fiscal responsibility is essential for keeping Tinley Park a thriving I believe that the primary role of local government is to serve the residents by using their hard-earned money to improve safety not waste it on unnecessary or inefficient spending my goal will be to ensure that every dollar is spent with the best interests of the community in mind This means conducting audits to identify and eliminate wasteful spending ensuring financial transparency in all village operations I will advocate for property tax rebates and work to lower unnecessary fees that place an unfair burden on families I am committed to making sure that every decision is made with fiscal prudence and accountability so that residents can see their tax dollars being put to good use and Tinley Park remains a strong and affordable place to live for all families As a former Chief of Police in Tinley Park I have always been deeply committed to ensuring the safety of our community I worked tirelessly to ensure that our officers had the training and support they needed to keep our neighborhoods safe I recognize that the crime rate in our community has increased in recent years particularly in areas like violent crime and property crime One of the most significant challenges we’ve faced is interference from the current administration there have been instances of direct interference in police operations and investigations which severely impacted the department’s ability to function effectively This interference caused many officers to leave When the administration undermines police leadership it creates an environment of low morale and confusion which affects our ability to combat rising crime I will work to restore the full support of our law enforcement This means ensuring that the police department is fully staffed that officers receive fair and timely contracts and that they are provided with the resources and autonomy needed to do their jobs I will also work to ensure that the police department is not interfered with and that officers have the support and respect they deserve to protect and serve the community effectively we must focus on community policing—building stronger relationships between law enforcement and residents This helps prevent crime before it starts by fostering trust and cooperation I will also advocate for mental health and youth services to address some of the root causes of violent crime When we focus on the well-being of our youth and those in need transparency in how crime is being addressed is essential I will ensure that residents are kept informed about crime trends and the steps being taken to improve safety we can ensure that our town remains a safe welcoming place for families—one that values the hard work of our police officers and fosters a sense of trust and unity I am committed to leading the way in strengthening our public safety making sure that Tinley Park remains a place where families can feel secure in their homes As a Tinley Park resident and former Chief of Police responsible development is the cornerstone of a thriving community—one that supports families and improves the quality of life for everyone not add to the burden that families are already facing We have a unique opportunity to revitalize key commercial areas such as Oak Park Avenue By attracting businesses that serve families The 183rd and Harlem area and the Tinley Park Mental Health Center site present the potential to become vibrant all while collaborating with the Park District and local officials the 80th Avenue train station is a prime location to develop into an economic hub that can attract businesses and make Tinley Park an even better place for families and commuters alike Expanding parks and recreational spaces will ensure that our youth sports programs helping to create a more connected and engaged community growth should always benefit residents first I am committed to ensuring that every development decision is made with transparency and a focus on keeping Tinley Park an affordable I will ensure that development works for the families who call this town home enhancing our community while preserving what makes it special Let’s work together to make sure our best days are ahead As a longtime Tinley Park resident and former Chief of Police responsible development isn’t just about new buildings—it’s about creating safe It’s about ensuring that every decision made today strengthens our community for future generations One of the most exciting opportunities for Tinley Park is the redevelopment of the Tinley Park Mental Health Center site With careful planning and strong community input we can transform this site into a vibrant area that will provide new amenities and enhance the overall quality of life for our residents and ensure that families have a voice in the decision-making process A successful plan will focus on expanding parks and recreational spaces that support our youth programs like the Bobcats and Bulldogs and ensure that the growth benefits our residents Transparency and accountability will guide every decision to make sure that taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly and in ways that directly improve the lives of our families I am committed to promoting responsible development that puts families at the forefront Tinley Park deserves leadership that values growth safer Tinley Park—a place where everyone can thrive I am not a politician—I’m a former Chief of Police and ensuring that development benefits families Too much time has been wasted on petty fights and poor decisions and always put families first—because when we work together 2025 at 10:00 am CT.css-79elbk{position:relative;}Orland and Tinley Park fire officials and local leaders continue to fight rumors of consolidation of the two departments IL — Fire officials and local leaders continue to debunk reports of impending consolidation of Tinley Park and Orland Park fire agencies as the rumor polarizes residents and further politicizes pursuit of one fire district's trustee seats Fueled by what officials have called misinformation on social media and in some candidates' campaign literature the rumors have prompted statements from several local officials the latest by Tinley Park Fire Chief Steve Klotz "You may have heard a rumor that the Tinley Park Fire Department (TPFD) plans to merge with the Orland Fire Protection District (OFPD). I wanted to assure you that there is no basis to these claims," Klotz shared on March 12 "At no time was there any thought of the two departments becoming one nor would any such merger be beneficial to either department the OFPD already has a very capable team of dedicated firefighters who work diligently to protect their community except during those times when we assist one another on automatic and mutual aid responses." Similar statements have come from Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau and Orland Park mayoral candidate Jim Dodge Orland Professional Firefighters Local 2754 said in a release to Patch (the latter group will be referred to as Orland Firefighters from this point) Tinley Park Mayor Michael Glotz in a statement to Patch said a merger would never be supported I have never met or talked to them about merging," Glotz said "It has never even been discussed with the board I would never recommend merging to our board." The spread has been attributed as "politically motivated to disparage the Orland Firefighters and the candidates they have endorsed." six-year seats on the Orland Fire Protection District Board of Trustees are up for grabs Running for the six-year seats are incumbent Beth Damas Kaspar incumbent Commissioner Donald "DJ" Jeffers and Bridget Tolan on the Fiscal Voices for Fire Safety Slate Protecting & Supporting Orland Fire slate A third slate also has two candidates—Mark Mitchell and Paris Stirrat—running for the six-year seats and candidate Steven Troglio running for the two-year one May and Tolan are all vying for the two-year seat Protecting and Supporting Orland Fire slate is publicly endorsed by Orland Firefighters Citing social media pushes and community-contributed pieces on Patch touting plans of a purported merger the matter was brought before the Orland Fire Protection District's Board of Trustees at a meeting in late-February Chief Michael Schofield "publicly took credit for all discussions of possible merger activities," Orland Professional Firefighters IAFF-AFFI Local 2754 said "He further explained that when he brought the idea to the Orland Firefighters He explained that Orland Firefighters has had no interactions with anyone regarding the issue." the board at that meeting unanimously passed a motion for District Spokesperson Ray Hanania to compose a press release negating the rumors talk of consolidation seems to be in tighter focus as a proverbial chess piece on the political board Fiscal Voices for Safety claim to be the sole slate against the proposed merger issuing campaign rhetoric and robocalls saying such—but Together & Supporting Orland Fire rebuke that statement "We would like to express our firm opposition to any proposed merger or consolidation with other departments," the slate said It is deeply disheartening to find that we are being linked to a merger It is equally absurd that anyone would suggest we These claims do not reflect the priorities or interests of our team." Fiscal Voices for Safety allege that plans for a merger originated within the local firefighters union; leadership there says they were drafted by Schofield and shared with them for consideration In an email from Patch seeking his comment Schofield cited his comments at the meeting that "put to rest the consolidation talk rumors." Schofield said Tinley Park had previously approached the Orland Fire Protection District "a few years ago" in an "off the record" conversation to broach the possibility of Orland expanding to encompass Tinley's service area For context: Orland Fire Protection District covers Orland Park and Orland Hills and fielded 12,423 calls for service in 2024 and wanted to get their opinion on that type of off the record comment," Schofield said at the meeting Schofield declined further comment to Patch "it is the Orland Fire Protection District’s policy to not comment on politics "The District’s efforts are focused on being the best Fire District in the state and it has worked hard to achieve the status of Internationally Accredited The District is also one of only a handful in the country that holds an ISO Class 1and Accreditation Our focus is on the fire district and its residents not on politics Schofield had shared a draft proposal with union leadership as recently as December 2024 Union representatives reportedly again denounced the idea to him and publicly any connection to its origins then and now as well as residents William Bonnar and Christopher Evoy Minutes from March 2024 meeting of that committee indicate the group discussed it "could be a good time to discuss expanding and consolidating," noting previous mention of Tinley Park and Mokena Rumors of the merger have circulated in campaign literature again attributing it as the brainchild of union leaders Mayor Michael Glotz labels the chatter and his connection to it as a political attack against him "There has been no thought given to the idea of the two fire departments merging nor would it be beneficial to either department," Glotz told Patch "This is just another political attack by my opponents trying to create division by making something up in hopes that it will stick." Orland Park mayoral candidate Jim Dodge told Patch that a merger would be unwise "This is nothing something that two bureaucracies should do," Dodge said "This needs to be really understood and then put to the voters It’s a purely political question: what are the numbers "I’m not convinced that a merger benefits the people of Orland Park if and when it becomes a real question of public policy absolutely needs to go to a voter referendum At a March 17 Orland Park Board of Trustee meetings Mayor Keith Pekau again said the rumor is not true He noted he'd been approached during early voting by a resident asking why there was not a referendum question regarding the issue "That's because the rumor’s not true," Pekau said It is a rumor being spread to benefit candidates and those that support them and myself have all said these rumors are false If people will lie to you to create fear in order to get you to vote what do you think they’ll do when they get in office Orland Firefighters have called for the rumors to stop especially those attributing supposed plans for a merger to union leadership "The Orland Firefighters have never participated in these meetings or discussions regarding the need for a merger," their statement reads "These shameful attempts to create distrust in the firefighter/paramedics within the Orland community need to stop." Commissioners in the April 1 One Tinley Park The Park District faces several critical challenges: maintaining low crime levels at our facilities We plan to strengthen our partnership with the Village to ensure the safety of our residents while also fostering a close relationship with our police department we will immediately terminate the contract with the current project manager This position should have undergone a request for proposals (RFQ) The cleanup of the TPMHC should be carried out by professionals and it is essential that we develop it in a way that provides lasting enjoyment and generates revenue for future generations and I chose to raise my family here because I love this community and what it has to offer my decisions will be based solely on what is best for the Park District I refuse to let local legislators dictate our actions It is disheartening to witness current commissioners allowing the Park District to become politicized under the influence of Senator Hastings and State Representative Bob Rita I have a deep affection for our Park District and it troubles me greatly that it has been caught in the political fray I consider the current staff to be my friends and neighbors and I will work diligently to prevent such circumstances from occurring again The current board of commissioners has failed the staff and the community by not shielding them from political interference Several residents have voiced concerns about the Dog Park I will propose a town hall meeting with nearby residents to address their complaints and work collaboratively to find solutions Having been a member of the Hazel Crest Park District as both a board member and president for almost eight years I feel my experience will serve the Tinley Park District well I am committed to full transparency and accountability I aim to lead the effort to bring back the fireworks to McCarthy Park in collaboration with my fellow commissioners Together with the Village and Tinley Park residents we will develop the 280 acres in a way that benefits our community which includes resisting unnecessary tax increases allowing taxpayers to keep more of their hard-earned money It is vital to prioritize smart investments that provide value to our residents I will thoroughly review all expenditures related to the TPMHC to ensure we are protected thanks to the efforts of the Village in maintaining safety I believe the current commissioners have not done enough to collaborate with our local police department to prevent vehicle break-ins at the pool I plan to meet with the Tinley Park Police Chief to discuss recommendations for the Park District and the staff have done an excellent job attracting new development they have successfully brought in $500 million in new development More development means more opportunities for real estate tax revenues enabling improved services for our community I feel the village’s approach to both commercial and residential development is the correct approach I served five years active duty with the US Air Force separating as a Captain and went into the US Army Reserves and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel I have worked with many people in both branches of the service without issue both managing and working side by side I have a teaching certificate in Mathematics and I work as an Adjunct Professor at Governors State University I have 2025 at 7:17 am CT.css-79elbk{position:relative;}Tinley Park Mayor Michael Glotz is seeking another term in the April 1 One Tinley Park The most pressing issues facing our Village are keeping crime low Crime is historically low in Tinley Park as a result of our continuous investment in our first responders we have frozen property taxes for two years in a row while still prioritizing smart investments in our Village When it comes to the Tinley Park Mental Health Center with as little cost to the taxpayers as possible we have brought $500 million in development to Tinley Park keeping taxes low for the Village's portion of your bill My experience and preparedness distinguish me from my opponent After 4 years as a Trustee and 4 years as your Mayor I’ve formed relationships with the key stakeholders in our community and have learned how to get things done We can’t elect someone with no experience in elected office who is running with a team of candidates that have deep financial troubles including bankruptcies That’s the last thing we want or need in Tinley Park My 8 years of experience serving the people of Tinley Park qualifies me better than anyone to keep leading our Village with a steady hand The results stand for themself: under Mike Maloney's management of the TPMHC he got a roughly $37,000 fine from OSHA and was issued 6 serious health violations We will keep investing in our public safety and police force continuing to beautify key areas of our Village and finally put the issue of the Mental Health Center to rest by resolving it once and for all I am proud of how we froze village property taxes for two years in a row and brought more jobs to our Village by investing in our businesses We’ve also beautified key areas of Tinley Park such as the Boulevard at Central Station and the redevelopment of Tinley Park Plaza I’m also proud of founding Tinley Park’s first Labor Advisory Board I co-founded the Tinley Park Citizen Volunteer Committee which mobilized volunteers to assist over 10,000 senior citizens I was proudly recognized as the Best Mayor in the Southland for all these and more accomplishments I have kept my word to the voters of Tinley Park and delivered promised results and change brought more opportunity and business to the Village I humbly ask voters for 4 more years so Tinley Park can continue this success My second term will be a success because we will continue to hold the line on taxes This means saying no to unnecessary tax increases so that taxpayers can keep more of their hard-earned money in their own pockets Budgetary responsibility also means prioritizing smart investments that return value to our Village and our residents I recognize the deeply humbling responsibility of handling public funds and using them to the benefit of all taxpayers and we have kept our Village a safe place even as crime has skyrocketed across Chicago’s city lines We have achieved this by hiring dozens of new officers and investing in our police force We will continue to make Tinley Park an even safer place to live by further investing in our first responders to ensure they have all the resources they need to continue keeping us safe I will continue to push for development that benefits our residents This includes bringing more small businesses to our town to create more jobs for Tinley Park as well as supporting reasonable new residential projects while opposing all efforts to build giant ugly high-rises My approach to development will be the same as it always has been: continuing to beautify and revitalize our Village while bringing jobs to Tinley Park all while using taxpayer money responsibly With the endorsements of former Mayors Ed Zabrocki and Dave Seaman I have the trust and confidence of the people who built this Village into what it is I would be humbled to have your trust and confidence as well to finish the job and keep Tinley Park a great place to live 2025 at 11:04 am CT.css-79elbk{position:relative;}David Viglielmo is running for Tinley Park-Park District Board of Commissioners in the April 1 Project Manager/Network Administrator 26 years The most pressing issue at the Park District is the lack of transparency regarding what is happening at the TPMHC and the rates charged for our seniors to use the facilities Residents are confused because nothing is being said about the cleanup the Park District was fined by OSHA for SIX SERIOUS Health Violations Lisa Butler set up a meeting for us to meet with the Village Board to discuss the 4th of July fireworks at McCarthy Park Our team agreed with the Village Board to have the fireworks at McCarthy Park if we allowed the Police Chief and the unified command team to make the safety decisions and not Senators or House Reps who are family members of the commissioners We feel that seniors are struggling to keep up with inflation and rising costs They should be at a lower fee or free with residency I have worked on many construction projects over the years We will all independently decide what’s best for the Tinley Park Park District taxpayers through town hall meetings and public input on large projects We will not let Legislators who do not live in Tinley Park make these decisions for the taxpayers Our team is financially sound without a long history of financial judgments I feel that the current board can't make decisions but are being told how to make them the redevelopment of the TPMHC property will be for the residents of Tinley Park to enjoy I have worked on a lot of Projects over the years and have always put effort into what I am doing on the projects I have been saying all along the Park District needs to keep the residents informed of what is going on with Mental Health Property and there is no fiscal responsibility for the cleanup Crime will always be a battle to keep it down to acceptable levels with the passing of the new safety act The Village officials are doing an excellent job fighting it and keeping crime down They are doing an excellent job in bringing new business in It’s a never-ending battle Especially with so many businesses going out of business The biggest issue with residents is trying to keep the taxes down They try to blame the village for the issues but it’s a county problem I have been a 45-year-old resident of Tinley Park I have seen a lot of growth over the years and just can’t believe how much it’s changed From going to Brementowne Mall as a child to going to going on a bus to Andrew HS in the middle of nowhere 2025 at 4:46 pm CT.css-79elbk{position:relative;}Eric L Schmidt is running for Tinley Park Village Trustee in the April 1 I am an accounting professional for past two decades with extensive experience in budgeting community partnerships to enhance trust and security and policies that ensure public safety remains a top priority so that families feel safe in their homes investing in our community—especially in well-managed and financially strong and a deep dedication to making Tinley Park the best place to live and they deserve leadership that respects their time residents have been asked to pay more while getting less in return Our police officers have been working without a fair contract for far too long and staffing shortages have made it more difficult to keep our neighborhoods secure We need leaders who will prioritize law enforcement and ensure they have the resources they need to protect our families community partnerships have suffered—resulting in a disconnect between the village and create a government that listens to and works for the people I believe leadership should be about collaboration and fiscal responsibility in our village governmen Families in Tinley Park deserve a community that is safe where responsible leadership ensures that every dollar is spent wisely and families have access to strong local programs and businesses I understand the importance of smart budgeting Too many residents feel the strain of rising property taxes while our police officers and emergency personnel face staffing shortages and delayed contracts I will work to eliminate wasteful spending while also ensuring that our first responders have the resources and staffing they need to protect our community Beyond financial responsibility and public safety investing in our community is key to keeping Tinley Park strong I will work to restore partnerships with the Park District and bring back the community events that make our town special responsible development is also essential—we must prioritize attracting businesses that create jobs while ensuring growth preserves the charm and character of our village With practical leadership and a commitment to putting families first and welcoming place for generations to come and commissioner for the Bulldogs Athletic Youth Sports Organization I have spent years working directly with families and young athletes to build strong partnerships and foster a sense of teamwork and community These experiences have strengthened my ability to listen and lead with integrity—qualities that are essential in local government isn’t just about making decisions—it’s about working as a team and always keeping the community’s best interests at heart I have built a career as a financial professional and ensured that resources are used efficiently and responsibly My background in budget oversight and financial planning has given me the skills needed to identify inefficiencies Just as families and businesses must budget carefully our village government should do the same—ensuring that every tax dollar is spent wisely and directly benefits residents Whether it’s advocating for responsible financial policies solution-oriented approach to leadership that keeps Tinley Park financially strong Voters should have confidence in me because I am a dedicated father and financial professional who has spent years working to make Tinley Park a better place for families and local organizations has given me a firsthand understanding of what families need to feel supported and secure I believe that leadership is about listening and always putting the needs of residents above politics Throughout my career in finance and budgeting and ensure financial stability—the same principles that should guide our village government I will always be transparent with residents and advocate for policies that benefit families My goal is simple: to make Tinley Park stronger and more financially secure for future generations Voters can trust that I will serve with integrity and make decisions that put Tinley Park families first—because that’s what leadership should be about Success as Village Trustee would mean that Tinley Park families feel supported—financially I believe leadership is about making responsible decisions that benefit families today while building a strong foundation for the future My priority is to ensure that families see relief from rising costs our police officers have the resources they need to keep us safe and our community organizations and businesses are thriving A successful term would mean that unnecessary fees are eliminated and families are seeing real financial relief It would mean that our first responders are fully staffed and supported so that safety is never a concern and local businesses create more opportunities for families responsible development should enhance Tinley Park without overburdening residents—bringing in businesses that create jobs and contribute to the local economy I want to see a Tinley Park that is financially strong and more connected than ever—where families know they are heard and part of a village that truly works for them. As a financial professional and active member of the Tinley Park community I believe responsible budgeting is key to keeping our town an affordable and well-managed place to live Just like families carefully plan their household expenses Residents shouldn’t have to worry about unnecessary fees or spending that doesn’t directly benefit the community Every tax dollar should be used in ways that improve daily life I support a full financial review to eliminate wasteful spending and explore ways to provide financial relief for families Growth and development should be handled with care and foresight—bringing in businesses that create jobs and enhance our community without adding financial burdens on residents A well-managed budget should reflect what truly matters to the people of Tinley Park—safe neighborhoods and a welcoming place for families to live Keeping Tinley Park a safe and welcoming place for families is something we all care about While our community has always been a great place to live and we need to take steps to ensure that our neighborhoods remain secure I know how important it is for families to feel safe—whether it’s in their homes or out enjoying parks and local businesses we need to make sure our police officers have the resources and staffing they need to do their jobs effectively It’s also important to focus on stronger community connections—encouraging neighborhood watch programs and local partnerships that help prevent crime before it happens Giving kids and young adults positive outlets like sports and recreational activities can also play a big role in keeping them engaged and out of trouble When the community and law enforcement work together Tinley Park is a wonderful place to raise a family and smart growth is essential to keeping it that way I’ve seen how important it is to have vibrant local businesses and strong neighborhoods where families can put down roots and thrive Growth should be thoughtful and beneficial to the people who already live here—bringing in businesses that serve families creating spaces where kids can play and grow and ensuring that home values remain strong We have great opportunities to revitalize key areas like Oak Park Avenue and 183rd Street to attract family-friendly businesses and shops that add to our town’s character and convenience The redevelopment of the Tinley Park Mental Health Center site is also a chance to create something special—a place that includes parks and community-friendly development that benefits residents first Growth shouldn’t be about just adding more buildings; it should be about making our town even better for families we create a Tinley Park where families want to stay and businesses thrive alongside the community Families in Tinley Park want a community that grows in a way that makes life better for everyone I hear from parents all the time about what would make our town even better—more places for kids to play and spaces where the community can come together One of the biggest opportunities we have is the redevelopment of the Tinley Park Mental Health Center site we can create something that truly benefits families—parks and recreational facilities that give kids a safe place to play and support programs like the Bulldogs and Bobcats We also need to breathe new life into areas like Oak Park Avenue attracting businesses that bring more convenience Making this happen starts with listening to the people who live here and making sure that every project adds something valuable to our town When we focus on what makes Tinley Park a great place to raise a family I’m just like a lot of the families here in Tinley Park—a dad a neighbor who wants to see this town continue to be a great place to raise kids and build a life and doing the right thing even when no one’s watching—and I think those lessons apply just as much to leadership as they do to sports and making decisions that put the people you serve first I’m running because I believe in Tinley Park I want to make sure that families aren’t struggling with rising costs that our police and first responders have the resources to keep us safe Tinley Park has always been a town where hard work pays off and families put down roots for generations—and I want to keep it that way there’s no limit to what we can accomplish as a community 2025 at 4:52 pm CT.css-79elbk{position:relative;}Chris Stapleton plays NBC's Today Show Citi Concert Series on The Plaza at Rockefeller Center in September 2024 Stapleton will bring his All American Road Show tour to Tinley Park in June (London Entertainment/Shutterstock)TINLEY PARK IL — Country artist Chris Stapleton will swing into Tinley Park this summer as a stop on his continuing "All-American Road Show" tour Stapleton's 2025 18-location tour will start in February He'll play at Credit Union 1 Amptheatre in Tinley Park on June 27 and June 28 Other special guests on the tour include Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives Kentucky native is known for songs like "You Should Probably Leave," "Broken Halos," and "Tennessee Whiskey." Representative – Claims Division I have been in the healthcare industry for over 15 years The biggest pressing issue our community is facing are the continued tax increases from the counties that our village is situated in My intentions as a board member are to continue the economic growth of our community by supporting local businesses we ensure that residents and entrepreneurs have the resources they need to thrive while maintaining a sustainable budget We are dedicated to building a welcoming environment where people of all backgrounds feel at home and can contribute to our vibrant I bring a unique approach to leadership that distinguishes me in this race My proven record demonstrates my unwavering commitment to our community highlighted by my active participation in both the Marketing Commission and Veterans Commission over the past four years These roles reflect my dedication to a welcoming environment for all I am deeply committed to listening to the concerns of our residents and ensuring that every voice is heard I’ve had the privilege of connecting with many incredible people within our community many of whom have my personal cell number and have shared their appreciation for the accessibility and responsiveness I provide a quick text or a phone call to assist with any questions or need they may have Unlike other candidates who may be influenced by party lines or special interests I prioritize collaboration with the residents of our Village to achieve results that benefit our community not political promises made in Springfield Our campaign is focused on several key issues that are important to the future of our community We are committed to transparency and open communication between local government and residents ensuring that everyone has a voice in decisions that affect their lives we prioritize sustainable development and smart growth to ensure that our Village thrives without compromising the quality of life for future generations We are also focused on supporting local businesses we believe in uniting our community and working together to create a stronger My entire adult life has been dedicated to helping others I was always happy to sign up to chaperone their class field trips organize their classroom parties and help out with their Girl Scout Troops I was happy to assist those that were vulnerable such as our senior community I spent many nights grocery shopping for them picking up prescriptions and sometimes just chatting on the phone if I felt they just needed some sense of companionship There is a lot that comes with the job as being a Trustee being there for our residents in a time of need is and will always be my top priority I have proudly called this community home for nearly 30 years my oldest daughter and son-in-law are raising my two grandchildren here in Tinley Park as well My commitment to our community goes beyond my family — I’m dedicated to ensuring a government that truly serves the people I’m focused on serving our community with integrity Listening to the concerns of our residents and making their voices heard will guide every decision I continue to make Honesty and transparency are at the core of everything I do because I believe they are essential to building trust my primary goal will be to sustain and build on the economic growth we've experienced over the past four years This growth has allowed us to maintain the Village tax levy with no increase for the past two years I have the privilege of working with a great team to see the state-of-the-art Loyola medical campus get developed from start to finish We've also completely transformed the 159th and Harlem corridor attracting numerous new businesses to the area I am also very proud of the approaching completion of Harmony Square This development will be the epicenter of a place for the community to enjoy for years to come and the handling of taxpayer dollars must prioritize efficiency Village funds should be allocated in a way that ensures essential services are provided effectively without wasteful spending Fiscal policy should aim to stimulate economic growth and reduce unnecessary deficits while safeguarding the long-term financial health of our community I am deeply troubled by the lack of consequences for those who commit crimes in our community I firmly believe that real change is needed at both the County and State levels to break the cycle of criminal behavior While our Police Officers do an excellent job protecting us the root issue lies in the failure to properly prosecute criminals and ensure they face appropriate consequences Addressing this failure is crucial to ending the cycle of recidivism that continues to affect our community we have provided more resources to our police department and hired a number of new officers to help protect our families We have always supported requests made from our police department to ensure their safety and strengthen their ability to perform their duties I believe the village’s approach to commercial and residential development should be a balance between promoting growth while preserving the unique character of our town Responsible planning and staying focused on the needs of residents the village can ensure a harmonious blend of modern conveniences all while maintaining the traditional charm of our Village Based on discussions with residents over the years it's clear that there is a growing demand for more family-friendly businesses and restaurants in our area While chain restaurants provide convenience adding more family-oriented dining options would greatly enhance our community With Harmony Square likely to attract many families we have a unique opportunity to capitalize on this by introducing businesses that cater to families such as a Children’s Museum with interactive exhibits or even expanding our music scene with a “School of Rock”-style school there's a noticeable need for more entertainment options for adults such as a small music venue comparable to Joe’s Live or The Salt Shed I have noticed that we have a very active community I’ve been researching some state-of-the art pickleball facilities such as a place called Chicken N Pickle that have locations in AZ & TX pickleball courts and a variety of yard games There is nothing more I love then attending our many local events and seeing the community come together and enjoying a fun I will collaborate with our Business Development department to try to bring some of these ideas to life Our current board and Village staff work diligently to attract new businesses to Tinley Park I have every intention of completing my full term I’m someone who believes in seeing things through to the end and we have some fantastic projects in the works I’m excited to watch them come to life and enjoyed by the residents of Tinley Park I am open to constructive criticism and always willing to learn I make my own decisions and don't allow outside influences to sway them My goal is to see our community come together again just as it was before state politicians got involved and stirred up division Elections can be tough and at times hurtful but I personally choose to focus on the positive achievements of the current board rather than the negativity
