Bill grew up in Newark and for the last thirty years called Cranford his home
He will be eternally missed by his loving wife Gina and “his boys” Ben and Sam
Gina knew Bill was the one the second he leaned over during Mass when the collection basket was being passed and told her not to worry
Bill lit up every room he walked into; and was always “good”
He had a sincere interest in all-things sports – the Mets and the Jets - but his greatest joy was watching his boys play hockey and lacrosse
He was the biggest family man and very proud of his children in everything that they did
He had so much joy to share and kept a positive attitude in “every” situation
He never let you forget he cared and how much he loved you
Bill will forever be remembered as an adoring husband
uncle and friend and ardent supporter of those he loved
but his legacy will live on through stories and memories by those of the lives he touched
Bill was preceded in death by his father William and his mother Anne
his brothers; David (Alison); Robert (Margery)
and sister; Rosanne (Mike); brother in law; Gregory (Patricia) and sister in law; Donna (Ed)
Bill was the adored uncle by his nieces and nephews and his light will continue to shine on through them with countless memories
he will be deeply missed by innumerable lifelong friends and acquaintances
The family of Bill Tipton wishes to extend our sincere thanks to “the circle” for your support and kindness during this difficult time
We are so grateful for your friendship and for always having us
Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday
NJ The funeral Mass will take place on Monday

A federal decision to cut nearly $400 million in AmeriCorps grants is having local consequences
The Tipton-Haynes Historic Site in Johnson City is one of more than 1,000 programs nationwide impacted by the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) decision to slash funding
(WCYB) — A federal decision to cut nearly $400 million in AmeriCorps grants is having local consequences
operated by the nonprofit Tipton-Haynes Historical Association
has relied on AmeriCorps workers since 2014 to help run daily operations
“This program allowed us to staff the site regularly with limited funding,” said Wes Spurgeon
we’re down to just one full-time and one part-time employee
The nonprofit lost three AmeriCorps workers this week after DOGE’s decision took immediate effect
The reduction in staff means fewer guided tours
limited maintenance and less capacity to complete required state documentation
“We have to cut back operations,” Spurgeon said
“Most of the work now falls on one person.”
the Tipton-Haynes Historical Association is using reserve funds to retain two former AmeriCorps representatives through its upcoming field trip season and a summer camp for children in June
everything from maintenance to programming will be stretched thin,” Spurgeon added
Tipton-Haynes is currently seeking community support through donations or volunteer help. Those interested in contributing can find more information by clicking here.
Parker Jefferson, a 6-foot-10 center in the 2025 class, has committed to Gonzaga
The three-star senior out of Inglewood High School (CA) took an official visit to the Zags this week and decided to pledge to Mark Few and the staff while on campus
Jefferson discussed his commitment to Gonzaga with On3
all I was hearing was ‘You’re a Gonzaga type of guy’
“Now that I finally got to get to campus and meet the staff
I look forward to seeing The Kennel rocking this year
and i’m excited to be playing under such an incredible coach in Coach Few
Jefferson was originally committed to Minnesota, but reopened his recruitment earlier this month after the Gophers’ coaching change. Prior to his commitment to Minnesota, he also considered USC.

Jefferson, a native of Texas, is the nation’s No. 150 overall prospect, No. 12 center and No. 20 recruit from California in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
“Parker Jefferson has good size with a frame that projects as he continues to mature. He has good hands, very passer friendly, and can receive passes in traffic. His range extends beyond the three-point line with consistency. The athleticism will be a question, but he is still young with a September 2006 birthday. As he continues to grow, there is a skill and IQ foundation to build on. His mother played at Arkansas.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw

“Everyone knows Parkinson’s is a degenerative disease… But he’s a warrior
and he’s doing what he can to keep going,” Faulkner says
Ever since Judas Priest’s Glenn Tipton announced his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2018, he’s taken a step back from touring
Tipton rejoined his bandmates for a few dates of the Metal Masters tour
emerging during the encore to perform the likes of Metal Gods and Living After Midnight
We went out to Los Angeles for the Grammys
“Everyone knows Parkinson’s is a degenerative disease… I think you can kind of keep it at a certain level
and he’s doing what he can to keep going,” Faulkner continues
And I’ll tell him that the fans asked [about him]
Last year, Tipton spoke out about his health in a Total Guitar interview
“Obviously the drawback for me now is Parkinson’s
and I’ve had to pass a lot of work onto [Faulkner’s] shoulders,” he admitted
“I keep pushing myself because I believe in ‘no surrender’
and I will continue writing and playing for as long as I can!”
Tipton said he “played what [he] could” despite the circumstances
“I am very proud of the whole album [2024’s Invincible Shield],” he added
I think his strongest attribute is his ability to adapt to different styles whilst maintaining his own very strong character
Priest require a guitarist who can shift from out-and-out metal to more melodic tracks.”
Faulkner also spoke to The Aquarian about the Invincible Shield recording process
That’s your duty — if something needs to be done
When Tipton first truly opened up about his diagnosis in 2022 to Guitar World, he said: “It was upsetting, but I wasn’t really shocked because I sort of thought it was Parkinson’s. I probably hoped it wasn’t but the doctor said it was.”
“With the medication and the time zone changes and everything else, I realised it was time to retire – from touring at least,” he explained. “I don’t ever want to compromise Judas Priest. It’s too big a part of my life.”
The world’s leading authority and resource for all things guitar.
Darius Adams, a high four-star prospect in the 2025 class and McDonald’s All-American, has committed to Maryland
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard from La Lumiere School (IN) was originally signed with UConn
but reopened his recruitment earlier this month
chooses Buzz Williams and the Terrapins over Georgetown
Adams is the No. 18 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 7 shooting guard prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Darius Adams discussed his decision to choose Maryland with On3
“Buzz Williams is known for winning at every different program he goes to
He’s develops guards and has off court relationships with his players
Maryland has a great history of basketball and can’t wait to show the fans what I’m going to bring to the table!”
“Darius Adams’ skill base is very intriguing
That is the piece his game is predicated on
Adams has good balance going from finger tips to toes with a consistent release
able to get yo his comfort spots in the half court off two and three dribbles
He will need to continue adding strength and he is a late bloomer physically
He is also someone who continues to add something to their game each time you see them
There will be some defensive questions as he can lose engagement off ball and plays upright at times
There are a lot of translatable pieces to his game and those flashes are become much more consistent.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
According to On3’s Jamie Shaw
Darius Adams is one of the top-10 shooters in the class of 2025

today announced it will further expand its service offerings and depth of talent by combining practices with the Oklahoma City-based law firm of Blaney
The addition of 11 attorneys and five professional support staff is effective October 1
and solidifies McAfee & Taft’s position as one of the region’s largest law firms with 179 lawyers
The combination will also result in adding to the largest full-service banking and financial institutions practice in Oklahoma
who has focused his 47-year legal career on the financial services industry
Hiersche & Odom has maintained a strong banking and commercial lending practice throughout its history while also expanding and adding depth in the complementary areas of complex business and commercial transactions
“This merger is a natural fit for both firms, and it’s a perfect transition into the future for all of us,” said McAfee & Taft managing director Michael Lauderdale
“It allows the Blaney Tipton lawyers to expand and grow their individual practices by accessing and leveraging our substantial resources and client base
and we get the opportunity to add to our bench strength and provide their clients with a full range of legal services
including niche expertise in a number of areas of law
agreed that the combining of firms was a natural fit for them as well
“For a long time I have said that our firm does big firm work in a small firm environment,” said Blaney Tipton managing partner Trey Tipton
to continue doing the big firm work and providing the high levels of service our clients have come to expect
we knew we needed the big firm support that goes along with it – the resources
the deep bench of both lawyers and professional staff
if you look at our respective firm cultures
“We’re excited about the possibilities this combination will provide for both our firm and clients,” said McAfee & Taft Director Josh Smith
“We have followed the growth of their law firm for years
and we have great respect for what they have built
This marks another new and exciting chapter in the 72-year history of McAfee & Taft.”
