A new club and lounge called the Lions Den Cabaret is moving in
Their social media posts don’t say when it will open
The old business called Electric Blue Cafe closed down last year
Three of its operators were arrested after being accused of prostitution activity and tax evasion
many investigations had shut down the club for periods of time
(WFSB) - Tolland schools have been placed on lockdown
Tolland’s superintendent says a concerning statement was made by a student
and the lockdown was engaged out of an abundance of caution
and school staff are currently on the scene as a protective measure

CT — Work is underway for a new establishment that will take the place of the Electric Blue Cafe in Tolland
"The Blue," as it was known in local circles
it its place will be the Lion's Den Cabaret at 62 Merrow Road in Tolland
according to town records and a large sign on the building
A separate sign clearly indicates "new ownership."
The club is billed as "Connecticut’s premier gentleman's club and cabaret," on social media channels
and it will include "gourmet" food offerings
Tolland Director of Planning and Development David Corcoran told Patch Wednesday that the new business will indeed have a completely new ownership
Building permits have been taken out for the renovations
but not yet secured are endorsements to run as an adult-oriented establishment
Town records show that an entity called B&E Capital Investors Holdings Corp
The change comes in the aftermath of a federal and state raid in March 2023 that left several principles of the establishment with sex- and tax-related charges
manager and a bouncer at The Blue were charged with several crimes in a 12-count federal indictment
Not everyone in town was jumping up and down over the news of its replacement
One longtime resident who requested anonymity simply shook his head and said
Another longtime resident said it's not "fitting" for the area
"It just doesn't make sense," the resident said
"The area has been full of bad business fits
Think about out this — we have had three national championships at UConn over the past three years and this is the exit many people use to head to UConn to see basketball games
we didn't have a drive-through at a Dunkin' there until recently and then we had a strip joint
Now that is being replaced by another strip joint."

CT — Tolland officials are living through an episode of "Leave it to Beaver" and
they want it to end with the beavers simply leaving
In his latest report to the Tolland Town Council
town manager Brian Foley said the local Conservation Commission is researching solutions to solve the ongoing beaver issue that is jeopardizing the manmade dam at Knofla Pond
has identified a company that specializes in beaver management to perform a site visit and identify possible "low-cost" solutions
Foley said the efforts could be offset by grants
but added it was premature to estimate how much they would cost
inside the conservation area that bears the same name
The pond is located on the south parcel of the park and measures 6 acres
The earthen dam creates the pond and an underground spillway allows Cemetery Brook to continue on to Shenipsit Lake
Foley said typical options are excavating the lodges
trapping the beavers and using a "beaver deceiver," which is designed to keep water levels at a range that are manageable for both property owners and beavers
So adopting that plan would rule out the beavers leaving

CT — School officials in Tolland Sunday sent a letter to the school community in an effort to "clarify" that a lockdown last Wednesday at Tolland High School was not because of a direct threat to the public or those inside the building
The letter was signed by Superintendent of Schools Walter Willett and THS principal Thomas Poland
"The lockdown was not initiated due to any threat made by a high school student," the letter read
The lockdown was seemingly caused by something said to someone then shared by someone
"It was enacted out of an abundance of caution in response to a statement made by a student—based on something shared with them by other students—about a high school student," they wrote on Sunday
Willett said in the notice that the school had been placed in lockdown mode because of "a concerning statement" made by a THS student
The lockdown was accompanied by a response from state police and the fire department for "safety" reasons
Added Tolland Town Manager Brian Foley on social media
"This is more of an investigative lockdown
Someone saying something to someone after hearing it from someone then turned into a social media and text chain frenzy over the situation and panicked and speculative comments were running rampant in the aftermath of the notice
One parent said cell phone texts were constant in the household throughout Wednesday evening into the weekend
Willett and Poland then attempted to calm everyone down
they wrote that they wanted "to provide additional information regarding the lockdown at Tolland High School on Wednesday
"The lockdown was not initiated due to any threat made by a high school student
"It was enacted out of an abundance of caution in response to a statement made by a student—based on something shared with them by other students—about a high school student
The Connecticut State Police assessed the situation
The State Police cleared the school to end the lockdown
"The State Police also engaged with the student’s family and confirmed that no weapons were registered to the household
"The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority
We are committed to maintaining a secure environment through established protocols
"We take all reports seriously and will always act in the best interest of student and staff safety

before the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990
according to information provided by the office of Gov
The scope of this project proposes to achieve full ADA compliance on three units
This conversion will not only benefit the tenants who need it most
it will also make the property fully compliant by meeting the minimum 10 percent “Type A” barrier-free handicapped- accessible units’ requirements
The proposed scope of work focuses on ADA improvements
This will be achieved through renovations to the exterior building envelope

Connecticut Housing Commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno said
"Connecticut has both large and small cities that contribute to its unique culture and quality of life
Whether it’s helping families make essential renovations to their homes
ensuring senior living facilities are ADA compliant
or providing a fire truck for increased services
these grants are essential to upgrade and enhance our smaller towns
We’re aware that this funding is crucial and improves the day-to-day-lives of our residents."

Starting pitcher Aidan Bailey pitched a 1-2-3 top of the first and his teammates answered by scoring in the bottom of the first
Andrew Weiss stroked a one-out double and then advanced to third and eventually scored on two passed balls by Tolland to stake the Red Wolves to the early lead

before Hayes got Liam Heaney looking for strike three

2025 at 7:32 pm ET.css-79elbk{position:relative;}A warrant was issued in connection with a wild pursuit - both slow and fast — In Vernon and Tolland
CT — An SUV was so full of pot smoke that a state trooper smelled it two car lengths away at a traffic stop that twice turned into a pursuit over the winter
a state trooper was positioned near the Exit 67 interchange interchange and noticed a Cadillac sport utility vehicle with heavily tinted windows exit the highway
turn south onto Reservoir Road in Vernon and then turn onto Loehr Road in Tolland
The Cadillac slowed down to speeds of 5 miles per hour for a good 15 seconds with the trooper behind it with his emergency lights on
finally activated his public address system and told the derive to "just stop," according to a warrant
The trooper maintained a "safe" distance of two car lengths away
but could still clearly smell marijuana smoke coming out of it when he exited his cruiser
The Cadillac suddenly turned into a driveway and seemed ready to ram the state police cruiser and then brushed it and is headed toward Clarke Road
and eventually drove back onto Loehr and Reservoir and then I-84 westbound before the pursuit was terminated for safety reasons
The Cadillac was then stuck behind a "rolling road block" created by a line of plow trucks
but then managed to get around them and stop sticks put down by troopers before it sped away
The Cadillac was a rental and state police were easily able to get the driver's personal information
engaging police in a pursuit and traffic control signal violations
