A Tomah man is facing multiple charges after being accused of sexually assaulting a child almost two decades ago
Craig Howard Smith was charged Monday and if he is convicted
came to live with the Smith family after her parents separated
she told police that the assaults began and continued for many years
Smith has been released on a 10-thousand-dollar bond and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing in June

(WEAU) - Tomah police say an attempted homicide suspect is now in custody
Tomah Officers received information that 30-year-old David Hintz of Tomah
the Monroe County Combined Tactical Unit searched the home and found several people at the home
It was indicated that Hintz was likely inside the home
Authorities attempted to communicate with Hintz
Hintz was not cooperative but was eventually taken into custody
Online court records show Hintz is charged with attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide
aggravated battery-intend great bodily harm
Tomah police say this case is in relation to the case/arrest of Justin Novak.
police received reports that a stabbing victim was dropped off at Tomah Health around 10:15 p.m
The victim had serious injuries and was taken to another hospital for more intensive care
Tomah police say the stabbing happened on Kilbourn Avenue in Tomah
Tomah Police were led to an address on Carol Kay Street in Tomah where a suspect was found and taken into custody
The suspect was identified as Justin Novak of Tomah

Tomah police say they are trying to arrest a suspect in that area
(WEAU) - A bullet was found in Tomah Middle School Friday
Tomah Middle School administration was made aware that one rifle bullet was found in a boys' restroom
Tomah Middle School students were placed on a brief hold
Law enforcement was contacted and began an investigation
There was no known threat to any students or faculty
Tomah Area School District said bullets were found in a high school boys' bathroom
Tomah police said a bullet was found in a bathroom at Tomah Middle School
(WEAU) - Officials are investigating a fire at a home in Tomah
According to a press release from the Tomah Fire Department
the Tomah Fire Department was informed of a structure fire that occurred at 415 Elm Street
The press release says fire officials responded to the scene and learned that a fire took place in the home and self-extinguished itself
There were no signs of anything on fire when officials arrived
a family member of the owner stopped by to check on the home when the family member noticed there had been a fire that occurred in the home
No one had been at the home in the last two days
The Tomah Fire Department says it is not sure when the fire occurred over the 48-hour period
Fire investigators found the area of origin in one of the bedrooms
(WEAU) - Tomah police are providing an update to the Jan
City of Tomah Investigators have identified a juvenile male responsible for the incident on Jan
This incident involved locating a single bullet in a bathroom
This case will be referred to Monroe County Human Service-Youth Justice
Tomah police say there have been two other incidents involving a bullet(s)
one at Tomah High School and another at the Tomah Middle School
Those cases are open and actively being investigated
