Kirkpatrick saying there is "zero tolerance for public officials who violate federal laws—particularly those laws that protect vulnerable children from sexual abuse."
The criminal complaint detailing the allegations against Plonski has not been made public
but Kirkpatrick accused Plonski of committing "one of the most vile and predatory offenses imaginable" while in his state patrol uniform.
"This is abhorrent—to Minnesota as a whole and to our law enforcement community in particular," Kirkpatrick said in a statement
Alvin M Winston Sr., a special agent with the FBI Minneapolis
called the allegations against Plonski "horrifying and a gross betrayal of public trust."
Details are limited, but the investigation included assistance from the Minneapolis Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Shakopee Police Department.
The state patrol says Plonski, who was hired in 2022, has been placed on leave amid an internal affairs investigation.
“The alleged sexual abuse this child had inflicted upon them is truly unbelievable,” Scott County Attorney Ron Hocevar said. “This office will pursue all potential charges and maximum penalties available to us to hold this individual accountable. I wish to thank all of the law enforcement agencies for their excellent work on bringing this individual in to face justice and protecting our residents, particularly our children.”
Plonski was booked into the Sherburne County Jail on May 1.

Search warrants reveal the suspicious actions of two state troopers after a deadly crash in October 2024 on Raleigh's Capital Boulevard
North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper Garrett Macario and Sgt
Matthew Morrison have been under investigation for their response to the crash that killed Tyrone Mason
His death was first reported as a single-car crash
but his family believes that troopers were chasing him
Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman said evidence from the crash investigation -- including video from dash and body cameras -- led her to look closer at the work of Macario and Morrison
and she has since dismissed charges in almost 200 pending cases involving one or both of them
The troopers have been put on administrative leave
the State Bureau of Investigation reviewed footage recorded on the night of the crash by Macario's body-worn camera that showed him first trying to pull Mason over on Capital Boulevard near Wake Forest Road
The camera went on to show Macario calling Morrison to report what had happened
Morrison can be heard asking Macario whether he had called in a vehicle chase on his radio
Morrison told Trooper Macario that the traffic accident was RPD's problem
Morrison then told Trooper Macario not to tell responding Raleigh Police Department Officers that he tried to stop Mason before the traffic accident," the warrant says
"RPD asked Trooper Macario if he was pulling over Mason which led to the traffic accident
Trooper Macario told Officer Urena that he was not trying to pull Mason over and that he came up on the wreck and saw the smoke and debris from the vehicle," the warrant says
The SBI also searched personal cellphones used by Macario and Morrison
Mason's family has retained two high-profile civil rights attorneys to demand answers from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol about the role of the troopers in his death
"From day 1 when they came to me and told me my son died in a single-car accident with no witnesses
I told them that is not true," Mason's mother said
"Someone on the force had to have been chasing my son
"We know something happened here that is more than they are telling us," Attorney Ben Crump
Wake DA Freeman said she was tipped off to the questions about the crash by someone inside the SBI
"All that we ask is everyone come together and get justice for my son
"Our office is currently reviewing the investigation
and it is my hope that this review will be completed in the coming weeks."

DETROIT – The family of a Detroit man killed in a shootout involving Michigan State Police spoke to Local 4 Monday morning
The shooting happened in the 20000 block of Murray Hill, near the Lodge and 8 Mile, just after 4:30 a.m. on May 5, 2025.
According to Michigan State Police, troopers assigned to its auto theft team were involved, and a 23-year-old Detroit man was killed during the exchange of gunfire.
Dameka Gray said she learned that her cousin was shot and killed after her aunt called her screaming.
“I just ran out of the house and ran to her,” Gray said. “He was a sweetheart.”
“Go talk to your people while they’re here,” she said while fighting through tears. “It’s not a good feeling. It’s not.”
Tony Hunter spoke with Local 4 regarding his younger brother’s death.
“He looked up to me, I looked up to him,” he said. “He didn’t do no wrong.”
He said his brother was sitting on the front porch of their home when an unmarked police car pulled up.
“My little brother called my name; he called for me to come out,” Hunter recalled. “As soon as I started running, all I hear is gunshots.”
Hunter said his brother is not the type to pull out a gun and shoot at police. “That’s not my brother. That’s not him,” he said.
“These cops came unmarked, no vests,” he continued. He said police didn’t announce who they were until after they shot at his brother.
“They waited until my little brother was already laid out in the middle of the street to go put a vest on,” Hunter said.
“We’re definitely going to get justice for this,” Hunter’s sister said. “Justice for my brother. Long live my brother.”
The man’s family said he was a night owl, “a protector,” and would often stay up late. “He watches over his family,” a family member said.
During a press conference on May 5, just after 8 a.m., Michigan State Police said troopers were working undercover in the area when the 23-year-old man came out of a house and allegedly shot three times at the troopers.
State troopers returned fire, killing the Detroit man. A trooper was shot in the leg and back.
The trooper shot was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital for treatment. Police told Local 4 the trooper is expected to be okay.

Mayle explained that travelers without a Real ID, enhanced license, U.S. passport or other forms of acceptable identification
"If the answer is no to all of those: I don't have a passport
I don't have a Real ID and I have a trip coming up
we would say expect that you could face extra screening

the medical examiner's office ruled Kevin Graves' death as "undetermined" after their monthslong investigation

Video: Ky. Police Officer's Vest Stops Knife when Suspect Stabs Him
“Your mom is coming up to take your son,” Oswego County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Charles Costello told Miles Dignean
that’s not happening,” Dignean responded
the encounter went from an officer calmly explaining to the man that he needed to take the boy to a physical altercation between Dignean and officers as they tried to take him into custody
It ended with Digean being shot as his 3-year-old son was wailing just feet away
The state Attorney General’s Office Friday released two body camera videos that show the interaction in a garage between Dignean
Deputy Corey Whitney and Trooper Junyla Sabari at about 1 p.m. on March 21
Investigators have said Dignean was shot by Whitney
but they have not said how many times he was shot
Dignean was taken to Upstate University Hospital and was pronounced dead at 2:28 p.m. that day
a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office
The two videos start in the garage at 34 Cook Rd. with Dignean holding his son as Costello explains there’s a court order for him to stay away from the child and they needed to take the boy
Dignean first tries to walk past officers with the child in his arms
but Sabari grabs the boy which triggers the struggle with Whitney
Sabari quickly puts the child down to aid Whitney and the boy wanders closer to the fray
Sabari pulls her taser on Dignean shortly before he grabs a metal object and hits her in the head with it, the video shows. The object was a 7-inch by 17-inch steel C-Clamp that weighed 8 pounds
the toddler can be seen walking behind her toward his father
Whitney’s body camera detaches and falls to the ground and Sabari’s camera is briefly blocked as shots are fired
There is no clear view of the actual shooting in either video
At least two shots can be heard on the videos
Sabari picks up the young child and calls in to report shots were fired
She takes the child over to a workbench in the garage to check on the boy
who inform him he has been shot as he asks for help standing up
One of the deputies continues to point a gun at Dignean as they speak to him
Dignean continues to move on the ground and the deputies warn him to stop moving or they will handcuff him
Sabari’s body camera video clip ends as the deputies are placing the handcuffs on Dignean
Whitney’s body camera clip cuts off at the same time
Deputies have said all three officers gave Dignean first aid
Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse and treated for a minor head injury
The state Attorney General’s Office announced they were launching an investigation into Dignean’s death in late March
The AG opens a full investigation of an incident if its assessment determines that an officer caused or may have caused the death of an individual
The AG will either present evidence to a grand jury and seek an indictment or issue a public report explaining why the office chose not to present evidence to the grand jury
according to an annual report issued by the Office of Special Investigations
The day of his son’s death, Alton Dignean put up a sign near their home that read “the cops just killed my son” in red paint
Alton Dignean told Syracuse.com that police didn’t have to shoot his son

He was booked in the Sherburne County Jail pending a detention hearing
Court filings containing details about the specific allegations against Plonski were not immediately available
Attorney’s Office has zero tolerance for public officials who violate federal laws—particularly those laws that protect vulnerable children from sexual abuse,” Kirkpatrick said in a statement

“Law enforcement officers are sworn to protect the most vulnerable among us — not exploit them
When someone in a position of authority commits such an egregious and despicable crime
