Ohio (WKRC) - Forest Hills School officials have accepted the resignation of a Turpin High School employee
in the wake of an investigation into inappropriate comments
The investigation began in April
Officials say the incident involved communication with a former student
The results of the district's investigation have been forwarded to law enforcement as well as the Ohio Department of Education
Ohio — Big safety improvements are coming to a busy intersection in Anderson Township
There's often traffic backups at the corner of Clough pike and Newtown Road
"The project actually enables us to address a number of factors
We have typically five to eight accidents a year at this area,” said Steve Sievers
assistant township administrator for operations
it's no secret that the intersection is dangerous
"There's a lot of traffic on Clough," said Anderson Township resident Jan Deckler
A lot of those backups are right next to Turpin High School
"Because traffic can't turn left onto Bartels
it has to turn left onto Newtown to work its way around
It also adds to confusion as well,” Sievers said
One of the upcoming improvements includes a new eastbound left turn lane added at the intersection of Clough Pike and Newtown Road. Another concern on Clough Pike: pedestrian safety
“We have heard for decades from residents in the community about the need for more accessibility,” Sievers said
and it would be great to walk there but I’m not inclined to walk where there's no sidewalks," Deckler said
“The other part of this project is completing the sidewalk network on Clough that would connect the Turpin Hills area into the Clough business district," Sievers said
where residents can see the plans and ask questions
"I know it’s going to be a burden in the short term
but in the long term it's gonna be a great project,” Deckler said

OHIO — As schools celebrate the last day of school before summer break and prepare for graduation
one Forest Hills School District principal is creating a new senior tradition focused on making the school better
Andy Jados is in his first year as principal at Turpin High School
and he asked every senior this school year
to sit down with him for an exit interview
It's something employers often do when someone is leaving a job
“We want to really focus on making that school experience better for all students," Jados said
Questions included what the students' plans are for after graduation and what class they wish was offered at Turpin High School
"One of the questions is who is you — what staff member made the most positive impact on you
What did these staff members do that really affected our students in a positive way
clump them together and share that with our staff," Jados said
JD McManus is one of the seniors who took part in the exit interviews
He's been a student in the district since elementary school and said he found a sense of belonging through theater
So when Jados asked how he would improve Turpin during the interview
his answer had that sense of belonging front and center
“I think just like a problem with any high school is getting more students involved," he said
This was one of the last exit interviews of the year for Jados
so he's heard it all — from cafeteria food suggestions to ways to improve parking
“There definitely have been a few similar to JD’s
about how to get more students involved," he said
“I know we’re well over two thirds of our students are involved in at least some sport
but we want to make sure that we’re reaching all students.”

“We are going to put a group together with teachers and students to look at the student involvement piece," Jados said
He said they'll be compiling the answers from all of the exit interview questions and sharing it will staff too
all in he hopes that when the students get to the end of their time at Turpin

On March 11 the Forest Hills School District sent out an email announcing the “sudden death” of 17-year-old Jacob Suter
the district announced the sudden death of 15-year-old Ben Kimble
Bill Suter said the final farewell to his son and delivered his eulogy
"I never expected to need to prepare a eulogy for my son," he said. "But this experience has reminded us that life is precious and changes in moments
But please know that we are at peace with his decision."

Therapy Pets paid the school a visit on March 15
A public Facebook post by Jane Spencer Pirman said more than 1,000 students stopped by the gym to visit with the pets
shared his obituary online and spoke of the heartbreak for her family
seriously stop and smell the roses tomorrow isn't promised," she wrote on a public Facebook post
A powerful and heartbreaking Facebook post appeared March 19 from Ben Kimble's father
“The last 24 hours has been the most trying of my life
my family has had the good fortune of friends
and the local Turpin HS community to support us through this difficult time,” Kimble's post begins
Kimble wrote about his son's many accomplishments
a state qualified wrestler by eighth grade (after just two seasons)
His Nagel Middle School 200m relay team set a long-standing school record
“He had dreams of playing in college and assured his mom and I that he would take care of us later in life with his NFL career earnings
nor was he about his achievements in the gym.”
The father also spoke of his son’s “big heart.”
“He bonded with kids with special needs and he didn’t tolerate bullies,” Kimble wrote
I was proud that he stood for many of the righteous traits we all aspire to
Ben also struggled with anxiety and depression,” Kimble shared in his post
“He fought to hide these things and squirrel them away like so many other things (he was a pack rat)."
The post continues and talks about the challenges of the weeks ahead
“I’m not certain how to properly grieve
and I’m sure you are at a loss of words to share with me
I’ll make it through because of and for my family,” he wrote
Kimble concluded his post by encouraging people to take time to speak with their children and their children’s friends and other young people
Suicide is a leading cause of death for children and everyone needs to know they are loved

Senior Night began Friday for the Walnut Hills High School basketball team with family introductions and a photograph by the student section
It ended with the Eagles cutting down the nets
Though they had already clinched the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, Walnut Hills lost their unblemished league record because somebody forgot to tell Turpin to avoid the spotlight

Coach Josh Slonim's Spartans spoiled the celebration with hustle
defense and a flurry of 3-pointers that put the game out of reach at halftime
Turpin was up 30 and Walnut Hills coach Ricardo Hill had all but benched his starting lineup
The fourth quarter was spent watching the clock drain as Turpin won convincingly by 21 points
"They played with a lot of energy and a lot of focus and we didn't," Hill said
That's the team we've been building to all year long
We've been up and hard but we've had that in us
Brady Hardewig did what Brady Hardewig is capable of and when he plays like that
Hardewig had 20 points in addition to 8 rebounds and 5 steals on the night
He's a 6-foot-1 junior who was ECC first team as a sophomore and has combined this season with Covington Catholic transfer Colin McHale to provide the Spartans with more than 30 points per game
11 boards and a team-high 5 assists.
They also managed to hold highly-recruited Walnut Hills 6-foot-9 inch sophomore Tyler McKinley to 7 points and just a field goal along with a pair of rebounds
McKinley had 22 points and 11 rebounds in a Walnut Hills' 53-50 victory Jan
Turpin is now 18-4 with their only losses coming to Walnut Hills, Winton Woods, Moeller and Anderson. A loss to La Salle in December was reversed to a forfeit due to an ineligible player.
They played all of the Greater Catholic League–South with the exception of St
they defeated Division I Southwest District top seed Elder for the second time in as many years
"We're going to win a sectional," Hardewig said
We can score 70 a game and we can lock you down to 40."
McHale had his own share of daggers on the night and seniors Deven Marathe
Jack Selfridge were also locked in on the night
Junior Clark Helgason added effective bump-and-run coverage utilizing his Spartan football skills.
"The rivalries run pretty deep over here," McHale said comparing Ohio and Kentucky basketball
getting a big win like this is going to be big for us
We're going to make a great run in the tournament."
Motivation for Walnut's EaglesAs for Walnut Hills
Hill believes the strain of winning 20 straight games and the energy spent around Senior Night took its toll on his Eagles
Most coaches don't care for the term "good loss" but Hill admits there could be some ammunition in watching the tape of this one
"Sometimes you need something like this to go into the tournament and just refocus yourself," he said
"This will definitely get our guys' attention
We'll go back to the drawing board and we'll be ready."
McKinley has now been held below double-digits in back-to-back games
Max Poynter and junior Javion Bostic were all below their season averages with the Eagles scoring a little more than half of their team average (68)
Hill is not discouraged going into their opening tournament game Friday with Talawanda
"I feel really good about this team and about our chances," Hill said
Maroon vs. purple, part II?Though a No. 9 seed, Turpin entered the bracket of No. 1-seed Elder, setting up a possible rematch. First things first: they'll have to defeat the Mason/Edgewood winner Monday, Feb. 21, to get to a game with Elder (who would have to beat Oak Hills) on Friday
"The city is so deep and talented," Slonim said
They didn't have their point guard (Sean Keller) when we played them
I'm not for a second thinking they're going to look the same when we play them a second time if we get there
it's about us and focusing on how we can get better at things and build off what we did vs. Walnut Hills
That was the best defensive game we've played all year by a mile."
Forest Hills School District Superintendent Larry Hook announced Andy Jados will be the next Turpin High School principal Friday
Hook will recommend Jados to the school board for approval next week
Jados will replace David Spencer, who served as Turpin's principal for eight years. Spencer announced he was leaving the district in May for a job with Loveland City Schools
FHSD news: 'This behavior is unacceptable and is not tolerated.' Turpin staff member resigns
Jados will be a wonderful addition to Turpin High School and the Forest Hills School District," Hook wrote in a Friday morning note to district staff and families
"His focus on making student-centered decisions and building positive relationships will reinforce the continually high educational standards that we value and enjoy in FHSD."
Jados is coming to Turpin from Big Walnut High School in Sunbury
where he's been principal for the past eight years
He has more than two decades of administrative experience and also worked as a social studies teacher at the middle and high school levels
According to a 2015 article from The Delaware Gazette
Jados also served as principal at Franklin Heights High School in Columbus and assistant principal in Westerville
where he was named the state's Assistant Principal of the Year by the secondary principals' association
He was a dean in Pickerington and taught high school social studies in Hilliard
Hook said the district went through a rigorous interview process involving staff
administrators and family and community feedback
"Thank you to everyone who was involved in this important decision for your continued support of students and education," Hook wrote
Community members can meet Jados at an open house event Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m
Each week we compile local real estate records so you can find out what property is selling for in your neighborhood
We also have a local database page with restaurant inspections

Parents, students and educators in the Forest Hills Local Schools have been focused this year on lawsuits filed over critical race theory and diversity
Financial challenges prompted district officials to consider consolidating Anderson and Turpin high schools – an idea now on hold as officials weigh putting a levy on the May ballot
But an unrelated, big-money suit filed against Forest Hills five years ago over a $23 million construction project at Anderson High School is heating up
despite the impact it could have on the school district’s budget and how special meetings are conducted
Here are five things to know about the lawsuit:
A Hamilton County Common Pleas Court judge has scheduled a jury trial in July 2023 for the suit brought by Performance Construction of North Bend
the general contractor of the work at Anderson High
What's the beef?Performance sued the Forest Hills Board of Education and others in 2019 after the school district fired it from a renovation and expansion job at Anderson High School
Forest Hills said it let Performance go because the district was unhappy with the quality and pace of the company’s work
Performance said Forest Hills fired it to conceal the fact that the district was responsible for delays and overspending
Performance also said Forest Hills did not want to pay the company what it was owed and that the district fired Performance after a series of school board meetings that violated Ohio’s Open Meetings Act
To put it plainly: millions of dollars. Performance originally asked for $8 million in its lawsuit. It sought an additional unspecified amount of money when it filed an amended suit in 2020 with the Open Meetings allegations.
presiding Judge Tom Heekin narrowed the number of allegations Forest Hills will face at trial to breach of contract and violations of the Open Meetings Act
Heekin tossed out other accusations in the lawsuit such as and unjust enrichment
potentially lessening Forest Hills’ financial liability should it lose the suit
Still in play is a breach-of-contract claim Forest Hills filed against Performance after the company sued the school board – even though the school district ultimately rehired Performance to finish the work at Anderson High
The claim will be part of next year’s trial
Forest Hills and its insurance company agreed in November 2021 to pay about $2.2 million to settle a lawsuit filed by a subcontractor that cleared and prepared the construction site at Anderson High School
J&D Rack Co. of Green Township had sued Forest Hills, Performance and others in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court in 2018
Forest Hills agreed to pay Rack $1.28 million
The school district also agreed to pay Performance $969,678 so Performance could pay what it owed its subcontractors
material suppliers and laborers for their work on the project
Forest Hills’ payment to Performance in the Rack case did not absolve the district of the claims it faces in the 2019 lawsuit filed by Performance and set for trial next year
Hamilton County Judge Robert Ruehlman put a lawsuit filed in common pleas court by another subcontractor on the Anderson High project on hold because the case was in arbitration
Performance and an insurance company earlier that year for $117,500 in unpaid work
B&J Electrical filed a notice of dismissal in court
The summer session of athletic director musical chairs is in full swing.
three local high schools named new athletic directors
The day after Keith Pantling was board approved Monday at Little Miami
Turpin announced the return of Tony Hemmelgarn
and Oak Hills introduced longtime teacher and coach Ben Hageman as its new athletic director.
Hemmelgarn spent the last two years as athletic director at Oak Hills
but when Eric Fry resigned from Turpin in June
Hemmelgarn knew it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up
"We've lived in the (Forest Hills) district for 20 years," Hemmelgarn told The Enquirer
"I was the athletic director at Turpin for 15 years and a school board member in Forest Hills for three years
my son was hired there probably a month ago
so it's just a great opportunity to be a part of my family's life every day and go back to a place I love."
Hemmelgarn stepped away and tried a new career in the business world
only to realize that his true passion was high school athletics.
"I got out and into the business world and what I learned through that is I love being a high school athletic director," Hemmelgarn said
"At the time I decided that was my calling the Oak Hills opportunity was available and I went to Oak Hills
I've never been more energized and I've never loved what I do more
I never would have thought Eric (Fry) would have left when he left
When it happened it was just really a no-brainer."

is a first-time athletic director who's entering his 20th year working in Oak Hills Local School District.

I strive to continue to build upon the academic and athletic opportunities that are available and provide the best possible experiences to our students," Hageman said in a press release

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A Turpin High School teacher has resigned after an investigation found that he had inappropriate communication with a former student
Forest Hills School District Superintendent Larry Hook said
The news was announced in an email sent to Forest Hills families and staff members on Thursday
Hook said the school board accepted the male teacher's resignation
which will be approved at Wednesday night's Board of Education meeting
The investigation into the teacher found they had communication with a former student
but the teacher had zero involvement with current Forest Hills students
"Although I am limited in what information I can disclose about personnel matters
I wanted to share as many details as I could with our district community," Hook said
It's currently unclear if the teacher has been charged with any crimes
The allegations first came to light in April 2023
the teacher was reported to local law enforcement and the Ohio Department of Education
obtained some of the Snapchats the teacher allegedly sent a teenage girl
She provided WCPO with copies of these messages
The Snapchats feature a man appearing to be shirtless who wrote "I got a month to flirt with ya" and "hope you don't mind but this old guy has some 'ideas' when we hang out." It appeared the messages had been re-shared by more than one user before Ferreira was made aware
Ferreira called the communication "disgusting."
During Wednesday night's meeting Ferreira criticized the district for not firing the teacher
"Turpin and the Forest Hills School District had a responsibility to their female students," said Ferreira
Every week I'll be posting on my social media to my over 100,000 followers about Turpin High School and Forest Hills School District i will get justice for these victims."
Hook also called the behavior "unacceptable" and said the school district will not tolerate it
"We work tirelessly to foster a safe and secure learning environment for students
staff and our entire community," Hook said
"The district takes all allegations of this nature seriously and works to investigate the matters fully to ensure we respond with appropriate actions."
WCPO is not naming the teacher at this time because he has not been arrested and he still has yet to be charged with any crime
the spokesperson for the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office
previously said the department was aware of the allegations
but an official report wasn't filed with authorities as they were working to determine the "legitimacy of the allegations."
Turpin High School's principal of eight years is leaving the district for Loveland City Schools, according to a Wednesday letter from Forest Hills Superintendent Larry Hook
David Spencer will take over as Loveland High School principal for the 2023-24 school year
pending final approval from the Loveland board of education next week
“I’m excited to be a part of Tiger Nation! I’m looking forward to supporting the students and staffand contributing to the many great things that lie ahead for Loveland High School,” Spencer said in a Thursday news release from Loveland City Schools
Primary election results: Voters approve tax levies in Forest Hills, Loveland and Franklin school districts
Spencer has supported the education and growth of thousands of students in our community," Hook wrote in the Wednesday note to Forest Hills families and staff
Spencer has been a valuable part of Forest Hills School District and has had a positive impact that will be felt for many years to come."
Spencer served the Forest Hills School District for 19 years, initially as an assistant principal at Turpin High School. In 2015 he stepped in as principal and led the high school to a U.S. News and World Report top 10 ranking just last year
Spencer will leave Turpin at the end of this school year
Forest Hills is immediately beginning the search process for Turpin's next principal
Loveland City Schools' board of education will meet Tuesday to approve Spencer's new role
There's the steady but hushed sound of traffic on Martin Luther King Jr
Boulevard; birds bicker in the bare trees overhead
The faint odor of smoke from someone's Saturday afternoon barbecue rides a mild spring wind
Children weave lazy figure-eights on their bicycles as they cruise the streets
and you get a much different picture of the neighborhood
The "pop pop" of gunfire figures constantly in the background
the people inside prowling for rivals or out-racing the police
Children and the elderly stay inside for safety
the current president of the neighborhood association
The neighborhood is loosely bounded to the east and west by Old Savannah Road and 15th Street
Turpin and 15th streets are the other boundaries of the neighborhood
kids were free to roam the streets of rural Augusta
One parent was all it took to keep an eye on the children
Clark didn't believe her son at first when he came home to visit from Atlanta and said drug dealers were gathering in her neighborhood
But she couldn't ignore the groups of young men standing on the street corners
Neither could she overlook the prostitutes trolling Martin Luther King Jr
Boulevard when she returned from Eastern Star meetings late at night
As violence followed in the wake of the drugs
Clark's son urged her to move somewhere safer
Clark didn't have the funds or the motivation to relocate
"I worked all my life to retire peacefully in my own neighborhood."
Clark showed up at the first meeting to check it out and was appointed secretary when she walked in the door
it was the beginning of her long history with the association
Clark was one of a handful of people whom Turpin Hill residents would call to make a complaint
no one called the cops because they were afraid of retaliation
The next step was the addition of golf carts to the neighborhood watch
A flashing yellow light on top of the cart alerted criminals of the crime watch member's approach
Clark said groups of thugs would see the yellow light on top of the golf cart and scatter to another corner
"They called me the 'neighborhood lady,' " Clark said
Going out into the night unarmed in an area that
resembled a war zone could have spelled death for volunteers
said none of the neighborhood patrol members were afraid
"Things had gotten so bad that somebody had to have some bravery," he said
Clunky cell phones also helped cut into the crime rate
Clark was watching the news one morning in the '90s when she heard that former President Bill Clinton was supplying neighborhood watches with the phones
and within a few weeks the phones were here
That allowed crime watch members to phone the sheriff's office immediately when they saw something happening
The climax of what Fryer calls the "bloody '90s" was the death of Rosa Barnes
an 83-year-old great-grandmother who was the victim of a drive-by shooting
and the people inside opened fire on Barnes' gray house on the 1000 block of Eighth Avenue
but Barnes was killed instead as she put her grandson to bed
The house's facade still bears the old bullet holes
The outcry from the community was fierce and transcended racial boundaries
A vigil for Barnes was attended by ministers and residents of mostly black neighborhoods
but also by white people from across town in the National Hills area
it was a validation that he was not alone in his search for peace in Turpin Hill
is that it brings people back together again
It's a return to the early 20th century mentality of neighbor looking out for neighbor
The biggest coup for the neighborhood watch was building the Carrie J
Mays Family Life Center on Grand Boulevard
providing a place after school for children and activities for senior citizens
The danger of patrolling a once-violent neighborhood couldn't outweigh Clark's sense of civic duty
She draws strength from a quotation from civil rights hero the Rev
Martin Luther King Jr: "If I can help somebody as I pass along
If I can cheer somebody with a word or song
If I can show somebody he's traveling wrong

CINCINNATI — It's a sport you wouldn't expect to see on the list of extracurricular activities at a school
but Forest Hills School District students were lining up — even auditioning — to become part of the Forest Hills esports team
Esports — short for electronic sports — refers to online competitive gaming
a growing hobby with its own formal leagues
Forest Hills' team will compete against others from across Ohio in games like "Super Smash Brothers" and "Overwatch."
"We know that video games sometimes are looked at as something that might be not purposeful
so we wanted to make it purposeful," said technology teaching and learning support specialist Adam Samuels
The Forest Hills esports team is made up of 25 Turpin and Anderson High School students who all have different interests in life
Turpin High School freshman Jordan Hardt wants to become a doctor
and said that being part of the esports team can help him get there in more ways than one
it's more about finite movements and making sure that it's really miniscule," said Hardt
and you just have to have that steady hand."
Hardt added that playing these video games competitively against others helps him learn about overcoming defeat
students have the chance to get scholarships from participating
we have different colleges reaching out to players and to us as coaches," said Samuels
"There are scholarships upwards of $8,000 a year
so there are some big scholarships out there
A couple of players have already had coaches reach out to them from those colleges."
The team engages in many career-connected activities and skills
ranging from graphic design to public speaking
Many of the computers the team competes on were built by students
increasing the chances of scholarship opportunities as well
"We wanted them to engage in skills that could help them be successful in their future," added Samuels
we have students using Illustrator to do graphic design
and we have them getting into marketing and the commentary kind of thing with a streaming we do online."
esports will be the second most viewed professional sport with 84 million viewers
is that other more mainstream sports come at a cost
"A lot of students we've noticed with sports and physicality
those are barriers to not wanting to participate in sports potentially," said Samuels
"We know costs are high now with pay to play
so esports is an opportunity we can offer at a low cost
giving students possibly their first experience of doing team sports."
Students have been home and social distancing due to COVID-19
but they are ready for the club to start back up next school year
society is trying to learn to accept the fact that this is the next sports that we will have," said Turpin High School senior Maura Cueto
"It's interesting to see how people will react."
ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- While most districts in the tri-state have headed back to school, Forest Hills Schoolsare wrapping up a major construction project before kids enter the classrooms
Anderson High School has been going through a total renovation for more than a year.
“A lot of the classrooms didn’t have flooring or ceilings so that we could get a head start as we’ve started this summer,” Forest Hills Assistant Superintendent Mike Broadwater said
Many of the classrooms are ready for students
new electric and this is a building built in 1960,” Broadwater said
New technology to the school includes wiring the rooms for presentations and and tablets
and air conditioning throughout the building
“We’ve got all new access points so that we’ve got a more robust system where we can put about 60 to 70 devices in one room,” Broadwater said.
The renovations to Anderson High School also added a weight room for student athletes and others
Turpin High School saw some renovations which included increased security.
“Every single school now has a security vestibule where we can lock down any intruder that may not be warranted to be in the building,” Broadwater said
Turpin also added more security cameras keeping an eye on the hallways
and security cards for staff entering the building
The school’s new gym is expected to be finished by October.
Turpin High School health teacher Larry Chialastri resigned under threat of termination this week after the school district investigated Snapchat messages he sent to at least one former student − a girl who graduated in 2022 − and a coworker
His conduct is under review by the state for possibly violating the rule against soliciting or engaging in an inappropriate relationship with someone who was a student in the preceding 12 months
"I got a month to flirt with ya," Chialastri typed in a Snapchat message to a former student
Screenshots of these messages were included in Chialastri's personnel file
which The Enquirer obtained Friday through an Ohio Open Records Act request
"Hope you don't mind but this old guy has some 'ideas' when we hang out," another message to the recent graduate reads
Education: 1 in 4 high school seniors at this Boone County school have associate degrees
The district's resource officer was alerted and shown screenshots of the communications
but the officer "did not believe that the matter was something that law enforcement would get involved with
absent additional facts," the district wrote to the state education department when reporting Chialastri's misconduct
Chialastri worked at Turpin for nearly two decades
most recently as a health and physical education teacher and the assistant boys’ varsity soccer coach
He’s also worked with the school’s Link Crew
The Forest Hills School Board accepted Chialastri's resignation at Wednesday's school board meeting
but Forest Hills spokesperson Josh Bazan told The Enquirer Chialastri will remain on paid administrative leave until then
“He will not be returning to the classroom or work in any manner,” Bazan said in an email
The Enquirer has reached out to Chialastri for comment
School records confirm Chialastri was the employee placed on administrative leave in mid-April
when Forest Hills vaguely alerted parents to an investigation "to address information that is circulating social media ..
involving allegations of inappropriate communication" between an employee and former student
when a Turpin administrator received an anonymous email with photos of a shirtless Chialastri that were allegedly sent to his former student
Turpin students saw and shared the photos through social media
and Human Resources Director Rob Fellows notified Chialastri of the investigation and a fact-finding meeting the next day
said she had known Chialastri since her freshman year and
although she transferred after her sophomore year at Turpin
continued to hear from Chialastri intermittently
she said he sent her a Snapchat message on her 18th birthday
in November of her senior year of high school
that said "Happy birthday hot stuff." That's when she blocked Chialastri from the social media platform
The girl's mother told the district she'd been cautious of Chialastri but never felt she needed to alert school officials
Chialastri said he had talked to the former student earlier that week
because "she was stressed about her final exams."
Fellows wrote that this investigation was closed April 20
District responds to another allegation from health teacher's coworkerOn April 21
the district received another allegation against Chialastri − this time from a fellow employee
told administrators that Chialastri sent her a text message earlier in the school year that said there was too "much talent in that body to fail," referencing her leadership skills
He then sent her a cartoon GIF of a person being handcuffed to a bed frame and wrote: "Make sure (redacted) takes good care of you tonight."
The woman said she didn't respond to this message but that it made her uncomfortable
Chialastri submitted his letter of resignation April 27, through attorney William Steele
which was approved by the school board this week
Chialastri cited "personal reasons." But in Forest Hills' report of misconduct to the state education department
Fellows noted Chialastri resigned under threat of termination and may have engaged in conduct "unbecoming to the teaching profession."
Superintendent Larry Hook told Chialastri he is not to communicate with district staff or students or be physically present on district property through the end of July
Previous incidents: Chialastri reprimanded in 2021 for 'culturally insensitive' commentThis wasn't the first time Chialastri was reprimanded
In March 2021 he received a letter of official written reprimand for two instances that “were offensive to some individuals.”
Chialastri spoke in an Asian dialect “when discussing a restaurant experience.” The comment was “culturally insensitive,” the letter reads
Around the same time Chialastri made at least one student feel uncomfortable by using the phrase “get down your pants” during a health discussion “about a guy taking advantage of a girl.”
“We have had prior discussions regarding conversations in the classroom that were reported as inappropriate or caused students to feel uncomfortable,” outgoing Principal Dave Spencer wrote to Chialastri in the letter
“I strongly recommend that you recognize the seriousness of this and take steps to eliminate these types of issues in the future.”
stating he teaches sensitive subject matter and sometimes uses comedy "to help with the tension."
"Considering the topics I teach and the number of students I see per year
there will always be things somebody finds offensive or uncomfortable," Chialastri wrote
Forest Hills filed a misconduct report against Chialastri on May 2
The Forest Hills School District board of education voted to ban Turpin High School's Diversity Day from occurring during school hours or through school or taxpayer resources during a special meeting Sunday afternoon
Turpin, located in Anderson Township, serves more than 1,000 students in the Forest Hills School District. According to U.S. News & World Report
more than 90% of Turpin students are white
Sunday's motion to postpone Diversity Day again, made by newly elected board member Bob Bibb
Board member Leslie Rasmussen refused to vote.
Rasmussen said the board's previous postponement for Diversity Day was made because other board members said they were concerned about the "process" by which the event was formed
The event has been held for more than five years at the suburban Cincinnati high school.
"You all lied," Rasmussen said during the meeting
Racial Diversity Awareness Day at Turpin traditionally includes a series of activities
video clips and breakout sessions with guest speakers that focus on history
This year the event was scheduled to included guest speakers from the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
Back2Back Ministries Cincinnati and Cincinnati's Citizen Complaint Authority
School board president Linda Hausfeld read from parent emails during Sunday's board meeting. Community members were upset about Diversity Day, she said, because some teachers were offering students extra credit for attendance. Others wrote they did not want taxpayer dollars to support curriculums related to critical race theory
which four of the newly elected board members ran against in November.
"Voters made it very clear in the November election that we do not want to fund social justice and political programming that is inherently divisive," Hausfeld read from one community member's message
which Hausfeld said came from a Black parent in the school district
reads: "Maybe their hearts are in the right place
but the implementation is completely off-base
"If my multicultural children were eligible for this event
I would opt out," Hausfeld read from the parent's email
One of the activities planned for Diversity Day
included asking students to answer anonymously to questions such as:
I don't understand how this is the business of students
staff or leaders in this exercise," board member Sara Jonas said
"How is this not political and indoctrination to the students?"
said she called Sunday's meeting because she wanted to discuss a way to include Anderson High School students in Diversity Day
She suggested having the event after school or over the weekend.
"It is May," superintendent Scot Prebles said
it might be difficult for the high schools to come together to plan an event that works with both of their schedules before the end of the school year
According to the district calendar
Forest Hills parent Jessica Cunningham was emotional
and will go to Turpin High School eventually
Cunningham said she was "very disappointed" with superintendent Prebles during Sunday's meeting. Prebles is leaving the district for another superintendent position in the Cleveland area next school year
"I feel like he let all of us down today," she said
I have seen him try so hard and to see him
"But we're staying and our kids are staying and our kids have to grow up in this culture," another parent
DeMaria said her children will funnel into Turpin High School
She's also an educator at Archbishop Moeller High School
Once these kind of events go away or are limited
She also said switching the event to an after-school or weekend activity will limit its reach
have extracurriculars or can't get transportation
"Diversity is not a controversial word," DeMaria said
"And learning about somebody else's experience is not controversial."
The motion passed by the board Sunday states Turpin's Diversity Day "shall not proceed during school hours" and "shall not be conducted or further organized during school hours or through the use of school or taxpayer resources." It is unclear if the event will be rescheduled for another time outside of the school day
honoring people who have served in the military is a no-brainer
That’s why Cravens is happy to be working on a committee putting together a new “Veterans’ Wall” at the high school
which is in Anderson Township and part of the Forest Hills Local School District
The wall will feature a 65-inch interactive touch screen with a presentation honoring Turpin High School alumni
faculty and support staff who have served or are currently serving in the military
“Honoring Spartan alumni who have made monumental sacrifices in service
is the least that we can do to show our gratitude,” Cravens said
“Allowing students access to veteran alumni digital profiles who have adorned the same jerseys
frequented the same halls and shared the same esprit de corps for Turpin High school is an easy decision.”
The Veterans’ Wall will be located within a new athletic entrance to Turpin High School
which is undergoing renovations expected to be complete next winter
Organizers would like to finish the wall by April 2019. They are currently are looking for people to honor
The presentation on the Veterans’ Wall will include a photo and a short biography for each person honored
said Turpin High School Assistant Principal Nathan Dumford
“Visitors will be able to search for Turpin veterans based on name
conflicts and service medals received,” Dumford said
Cravens will be honored on the Veterans’ Wall.
Now vice president of operations for a medical organization headquartered in Cleveland
Marine Corps Infantry from 2004 to 2012 as an infantryman platoon sergeant.
“I deployed three times to combat operations in Fallujah
“The honor wall is an important recognition of all Turpin High School faculty
staff and alumni who have served in the military,” Dumford said
“This commitment to our nation should never be forgotten and should inspire courage and dedication for our community and country.”
Private donations will fund the Turpin High School Veterans’ Wall
People can make a tax-deductible donation through the Forest Hills Foundation for Education at http://fhfe.org/turpin-alumni-home/.
people can send checks made payable to “FHFE/Turpin Veterans’ Wall” to Turpin High School
To get a name on the Turpin High School Veterans’ Wall, contact Dumford at TurpinVeterans@foresthills.edu or 513-232-7770
which also is in the Forest Hills Local School District
has had a Veterans’ Wall since 2015.

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Students in the Forest Hills School District walked out of class Wednesday to protest the cancellation of Turpin High School's diversity day
Roughly 350 students walked out of Turpin High School at 9:52 a.m
The students carried signs and chanted mantras like "do better Forest Hills" before heading back into class about 10 minutes after the walkout started
The students walked to the nearby Heritage Unitarian Universalist Church

It's like really hard to like feel and understand and stuff," said Kennan Alcalde
"What it does is it brings people together and you get an insight about how other students learn and how other students days are and like what they're thinking behind the scenes and not what they just show
Anderson High School also held a walkout at 10:25 a.m
the district said it was aware of student demonstrations planned
"The district recognizes and respects the rights of its students to exercise their constitutionally guaranteed rights to assemble peaceably and to express ideas and opinions," the statement says
is to provide a safe and secure learning environment for every student and we will continue with our commitment to maintain a high level of safety for students while on campus."
students will be holding their own student-led diversity day Wednesday afternoon
a senior who helped plan the school-led event
said the students decided the school needed to have a diversity day no matter the board's decision
Mengel will speak to Congress as part of a hearing on free speech
the board's positions exist to help facilitate the education of the kids and what the kids are asking for
which unfortunately means that we have to step up and do the role of leading all of this," Mengel said
students and community members spoke during public comment at the Forest Hills School District Board Meeting
"I'm inspired by your thoughtful and respectful approach and I respect you students on how you handled yourself today," Superintendent Scot Prebles said in the meeting
Thursday to share their experience with Congress at a hearing focused on classroom censorship
an optional event for juniors and seniors that includes activities and guest speakers
More than 300 Turpin High School students participated in a walkout on Wednesday to protest the cancelation of Diversity Day earlier this month
Students gathered at Heritage Universalist Unitarian Church
holding signs calling for promotion of diversity within the Forest Hills School District and to empower students
The walkouts occurred on the scheduled date for Diversity Day
stating that the event would no longer happen during school hours
use school resources or be paid for by taxpayers
the school district announced its cancelation
"At this time, FHSD staff have determined they will not be able to organize an event that meets the newly instituted board expectations before the end of the school year, so it will not be rescheduled for this year," Forest Hill School District Communications Coordinator Josh Bazan said in a statement
Board member Leslie Rasmussen abstained from voting on the issue
saying board members "interfered" with the event citing "critical race theory and social justice" as their reasons for its postponement
Four of the board's newly elected members ran together on a platform opposing critical race theory
On the day Diversity Day was supposed to be held
multiple students passed a megaphone to each other to give speeches and to lead chants
Claire Mengel is a senior at Turpin High School
They thanked the community for the support it's provided students
but expressed disappointment the walkout had to take place because the "(school) board has failed us."
"We should not be here because the board should be doing their jobs and the fact that we're here is incredible
but it is also disappointing because we should be in school doing what we're supposed to do as kids," Mengel said
Johnny Wettengel is also a student at Turpin High School
He thanked the students for making their voices heard and to show the school board that they're "doing a bad job" at representing students
to show them that we support diversity in our school district," Wettengel said
"We are here to show them that we won't just sit down and let them cancel events that matter to us
We are here to show them that diversity isn't political
Mengel said the event's cancelation adds another level of stress to a district dealing with a "mental health crisis," but the community's support has helped during a tough time for students
"Even though the board has power in this situation
the community is standing together and there is so much more support than I've seen anything negative about this," Mengel said
On Thursday
Congressional Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties
The hearing will focus on "the ongoing efforts to prohibit discussion in K-12 classrooms about American history
and to punish teachers who violate vague and discriminatory state laws by discussing these topics."

MASON -After a blustery day that featured a two-plus hour delay due to wet courts
two Greater Cincinnati high schools were left standing to compete in the Division I and II state semifinals Saturday at the Lindner Tennis Center
Turpin in Division I and Indian Hill in Division II will be represented Saturday
Leading the way as the only Tri-State singles semifinalist is Turpin sophomore Caitlin Fisher
Fisher had one of the more exciting Division I first round matches
going three sets to beat Cassie Alcala of Pickerington North
That put her in the second round with the "other" Emily Thomas of Massillon Jackson
7-5 to become Turpin's first singles semifinalist and the first for coach Gail Maundrell
I just tried to play my best and it worked
The day was sweet for Fisher after losing in the first round a year ago
The day was not so sweet for a couple of last year's semifinalists
Defending DI state champion Emily Thomas of Princeton dispatched Alexandra Veskallio of Magnificat 6-1
6-1 but then fell short against Hudson's Molly Sandberg 6-2
Teary-eyed from the emotion and unforgiving wind
Thomas didn't feel 100 percent as she did in 2015 when she won the title
"My ankle has been giving me problems all season," Thomas said
It would've been a lot closer had I been able to run well
I'm not going to take anything away from her
Sophomore Kelli Niehaus of Mount Notre Dame
one of the few players to ever defeat Thomas of Princeton
Her first match against Kayla Pukys of Louisville was easy
the second against Anna Roggenburk of Magnificat didn't go the Cougar's way with a 6-2
Walnut Hills senior Lilly O'Toole saw her prep career come to an end with a 6-2
O'Toole had previously made the state tournament as a freshman and was able to go out on the big stage again
"It's so cool to be able to end my career the same way it began," O'Toole said
It means so much to me that I made it here today
Indian Hill freshman Morgan Coburn beat Olivia Rohrbacher of Sandusky Perkins
In her second round against Nicole Gillinov of Hathaway Brown
it's just a matter of more experience," Indian Hill coach Gary Samuels said
"It was a great first round win against Olivia Rohrbacher who is going to play for Penn State."
fell in the first round to Marissa Madison of Columbus School for Girls
Indian Hill plays the Columbus School for Girls in the Division II Ohio Tennis Coaches Association tournament in Reynoldsburg
Seniors Isabel Cepeda/Amanda Huser downed Skye Harwood/Paige Carmichael of Walsh Jesuit 2-6
6-1 in round one and senior Sneha Kandi/junior Nicole Reid also had a marathon first-rounder with a 6-0
6-3 win over Nora Abdul-Aziz/Belen Balibrea of Perrysburg
The lengthy matches may have wore the Lady Comets down as Kandi/Reid lost to Marian and Anne Zivick of Uniontown Green 6-3
6-1 and Cepeda/Huser fell to Molly Bauer and Ana Lopez of Magnificat
Sycamore freshman Harsitha Kalaiarasan/senior Beverly Liu lost to Hallie Hunt/Alessa Koinoglou of North Canton Hoover
senior Ellie Foster/junior Gabriella O'Connor beat C.C
Patton/Madison Humbles of Notre Dame Academy 6-1
the Lions ladies lost to the Cianciolas of Canfied 6-1
junior Gracey Hirsch/freshman Hayley Hirsch went three sets with Isabella Daverlo/Rebecca Wolf of Hathaway Brown
"The first set and third set we got them and shut them down really quick," Gracey Hirsch said
The Hirsch sisters then drew Savannah Hailey/Helen Hoag of Columbus School for Girls
but first had to wait an unwanted hour for an open court
Gracey was correct as the Hirschs advanced to the Saturday semis winning against the Hailey/Hoag duo that they'll likely see again in the team tournament
"The Hirschs came through a tough three-setter against Hathaway Brown
The red-haired siblings will square off with Claudia Althaus/Carly Cohen of Gates Mills Gilmour Academy
Indian Hill's other doubles entry of seniors Amalia Guzman/Sarah Price lost to Maverick Delp/Sophia Spinnaze of Toledo Central
Both Seven Hills doubles teams fell in round one
with juniors Jillian Blatt/Natalie Choo losing to Althaus/Cohen of Gilmour 6-0
6-0 and senior sisters Alana and Lauren Saggar losing to Michelle Tokman/Anjali Kashyap of Orange
Saturday with temperatures not forecast to reach 50 until around noon

“I like the community,” Turpin said after the recognition at Monday night’s council meeting
“It’s an honor to be a sergeant here.”
of Penn Hills served in the Marines from 2005 to 2009 and reached the rank of sergeant
He then worked part-time as a patrolman for Springdale Township and Oakmont for a couple of years before taking a full-time position in the borough force in 2016
I thought it was the best way I could give back to the community,” Turpin said
“Use some of the stuff I learned in the military (like) serving
Nearly a dozen of Turpin’s supporters
shared a moment outside council chambers before heading off with everyone to celebrate
Police Chief Michael Ford said Turpin is very deserving of the promotion
“He’s very reliable,” Ford said
“He’s great with community outreach and he’s very knowledgeable.”
Turpin is the second in command of the department
“I think Oakmont will be well-served by his dedication and his skills as a police officer,” council President Patricia Friday said
The promotion does come with a bump in pay

The Peach Truck is returning to Cincinnati. The Nashville-based fruit delivery business, which transports farm-fresh peaches from Georgia across the country
is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year
And it will stop at several Greater Cincinnati locations starting next month
Fans of Georgia's state fruit can choose between three Peach Truck products: the company's signature 25-pound box of peaches for $50, a 10-ounce bag of pecans for $15 or a combo package containing two boxes of peaches and two bags of pecans for $110
all peaches arrive within 24 hours of being hand-picked
All products need to be ordered ahead of time online at thepeachtruck.com. There, you can select a time frame to pick up your peaches at one of the Cincinnati tour stops listed below. Alternatively, you can also have items shipped to your house

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP - With a runner-up finish in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference last season
Anderson wrestlers are ready to work for that top spot
Anderson hasn’t won a conference championship in wrestling since 1993
McIntire said the Redskins return 12 starters
so they only have to replace two weight classes
Most notably back for Anderson is senior Cole Cain
who placed sixth at districts and came one win away from reaching state
Trey Lanham and Luke Loebker are also returning district qualifiers
Kevin Stone and Max Berry are all experienced returning starters
“We have a great group of senior leaders and a group of guys that are willing to outwork the guy next to them,” said McIntire
McNicholas will seek to improve in the highly competitive Greater Catholic League-Coed Division after an eighth-place finish last season
Junior Jackson Gear returns after making GCL-Coed first team at 170 pounds
He is a returning state qualifier and is currently ranked eighth in Ohio
Junior Rielly Dowell-Howko made second team at 132
Other returning starters are sophomore Jack Keri
junior Thomas Moore and seniors Reese Jabin and Ken Zhao
“We have seven returning starters with plenty of experience
including one returning state qualifier,” Moore said
“We also have several young up and coming wrestlers with experience to fill the line-up.”
Turpin’s wrestling team will make use of some strong individuals
as well as a nice blend of youth and experience to capture some success this season on the mats
The Spartans will be led by senior Brady Eckert and junior Harry Sand
Eckert was Eastern Cincinnati Conference second team with a fifth-place finish at sectionals last season
Sand was first-team All-ECC and placed runner-up at sectionals to earn a spot at districts
“The team has four seniors and five freshmen so it is heavy on both ends in terms of class breakdown
but it is suffering in total numbers due to lingering football injuries and the like,” said fourth-year head coach Kyle Georg
“I’m really looking forward to seeing senior Al Fehrenbach
return for his last season after his junior season was cut short due to a concussion
I’m also looking forward to seeing junior John McGuire have a breakout season; he has always been a solid wrestler
but hasn’t gotten the top tournament finishes that I know he is capable of.”
One of the tournaments always on Turpin’s radar is the “King of the Hill” tri-match with McNicholas and Anderson Jan
but his team is already showing signs of promise
Miami Valley Christian Academy has two wrestlers who compete with the Mariemont team and follow their schedule
Sophomores Sam Smith and Seth Henderson of the Lions will compete with the Warriors’ squad
First-year Mariemont coach Jim Barr now supervises the MVCA pair
“Seth and Sam make our room better,” Barr said
“Their work ethic and determination will only help them get better
Practicing with Mariemont gets everyone better.”
Smith and Henderson next compete for MVCA against Shroder and Cincinnati Country Day Dec
Walnut Hills should show some improvement after a sixth-place Eastern Cincinnati Conference finish last season
Coach Emmerson Mincy returns five starters
including senior Quinton Mincy who was seventh in Division I at 220 pounds a year ago
The younger Mincy is committed to wrestle at the University of Chicago where he’ll be a pre-medicine major
Senior Demetrius Smith also returns at 160 pounds after being injured last year
In the light-to-middle weights senior Saul Weinstein is back at 138 and sophomore Ike Weyand-Geise will go at 145
Freshman Darren Thomas-Dixon is an up and comer at 152
“We have finally grasped the concept that in order to be a better wrestling program
each individual must be committed to making not only our program better
but making each of our teammates better,” coach Mincy said
his sons and many Walnut Hills wrestlers have seen the Eagles through numerous growing pains since it was returned as a varsity sport seven years ago
we practiced at a gym in a Lockland office park,” coach Mincy said
we practiced at a church that was converted from an elementary school
We then practiced on one end of our junior high gym while we had to grab assorted basketballs as they whizzed by our mats
we didn’t even have a mat of our own to practice on
Despite the sharing of facilities and adversities
Quinton Mincy could make Cincinnati Public School history
He is closing in on 150 wins and is ranked No
He was an AAU All-American at the AAU Scholastic Duals in Hampton
he was third at the Walt Disney World National Duals and champion at the Megatron Duals in Charlotte
he’ll be the first wrestler from the Cincinnati Public Schools to win a state title since Norman Hatchett in the early 1970s,” coach Mincy said
Ahead for Walnut Hills is a home match with Boyle County (Kentucky) Dec
17 and Walnut will take on John Carroll in Washington
With the caliber of talent in the Greater Catholic League South this season
but they’re all experienced and versed in the postseason grind
Senior Connor Yauss is a returning state alternate at 160 pounds
Junior Jack Heyob is a returning district qualifier at 220 pounds
and sophomore James Krusinski returns as a district qualifier at 113 pounds
Senior Paul Hulefeld is also back after reaching districts last year at 182 pounds
Heyob and Hulefeld were second-team All-GCL South last season
Fourth-year head coach Tom Wynn is waiting to see who else can step up on a young team into major roles this season
but these guys are hard workers and have set high standards for themselves.”
The University of Cincinnati recently unveiled its Hero Bearcats campaign
Thirty statues were installed throughout the Tristate
Among those include three statues painted by Villa Madonna Academy High School/Junior High students
"Guard Hard," a tribute to lifeguards
was painted by sophomore Hannah Willmott of Edgewood
Hannah’s statue is located on the Purple People Bridge
"First Bearcat on the Moon," a tribute to Neil Armstrong
was painted by sophomore Trinity Tankersley of Turpin Hills
was painted by senior Vivian Zhuang. It is located at Firehouse Number 15 in Mount Adams
Vivian is an international student from China and lives with her host mom in Park Hills
The Hero Bearcats public art campaign will be on display through September
In recent years, the NFL‘s rule changes have made it easier for players with speed and agility to thrive
Smaller players who may have been pulverized in previous NFL eras can now make an impact in the modern NFL using their quickness and explosiveness
Let’s rank the quickest players in the league based on top game speeds
This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise
Tyreek Hill is the fastest player in the NFL, and he plays on the league’s fastest team, the Miami Dolphins
which is a major reason why they pulled off their blockbuster trade for Hill in 2022
While he “only” ran a 4.29-second 40-yard dash prior to entering the league
Hill’s game speed is significantly faster
As a rookie in 2016, Hill posted the fastest speed in the NFL’s Next Gen Stats database
reaching 23.24 miles per hour on a kick return
and ninth-fastest times of any player in the NFL
eclipsing 21.5 miles per hour on four different occasions
Hill’s speed makes him a perfect fit for Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel’s scheme
His peers clearly believe he’s difficult to stop
1 player in the NFL’s Top 100 over the offseason
Hill led the NFL in receiving yards (1,799) and finished second in receptions (119) while running just the 46th-most routes among wideouts
as his 3.85 yards per route run mark blew the modern record out of the water
While everyone knew Worthy offered blazing speed thanks to his college game film, the Texas product turned heads during the pre-draft process by running the fastest 40-yard dash in NFL Combine history
His 4.21 40-yard dash beat the previous record (4.22) set by John Ross in 2017
MORE: Simulate the NFL Season With PFN’s Playoff Predictor
While Ross failed to live up to expectations after entering the NFL
that doesn’t mean Worthy will disappoint too
he has Mahomes throwing him the ball and head coach Andy Reid designing plays to take advantage of his speed
so don’t be surprised if Worthy contends for Offensive Rookie of the Year honors
McDaniel and Dolphins general manager Chris Grier put all their chips on speed, and it seems to be working incredibly well. Miami’s offense is beyond potent, and De’Von Achane’s efficiency is otherworldly
Despite dealing with injuries throughout his 2023 rookie season
Achane lapped the rest of the league with 7.8 yards per attempt
No other player with at least 100 rushing attempts finished with more than 5.5 yards per carry
The Texas A&M product also posted two of the top six speeds for a ball carrier in 2023
He ran an official 4.32 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine while also achieving a 10.14-second 100-meter dash and a 20.2 200-meter dash in college
Yes, a third Miami Dolphin on this list. In 2020, Raheem Mostert held the top two spots in Next Gen Stats’ speed clocking
running 23.09 miles per hour in Week 2 after hitting 22.73 miles per hour the week before
Both plays resulted in touchdowns of 75+ yards
Mostert bounced around from team to team for his first two NFL seasons before finding a home with Kyle Shanahan’s wide-zone rushing attack. Although he couldn’t stay healthy for the San Francisco 49ers
he never once averaged fewer than five yards per carry
MORE: Pro Football Network’s Top 100 Players of 2024
age is the only thing keeping Mostert from placing a spot higher on the list
there’s a good chance he has lost some horsepower since 2020
Mostert has pointed to his limited wear and tear from his early NFL seasons as a big reason why he’s still able to produce into his 30s
In Week 2 of last season, Mostert managed a top speed of 21.62 mph on a 43-yard rushing touchdown
Mostert also earned his first Pro Bowl nod after rushing for 1,012 yards and totaling 21 touchdowns
DK Metcalf is just unfair
It’s incomprehensible that he managed a 1.45-second 10-yard split
tied for the seventh-best mark in NFL Combine history
In 2021, he famously chased down Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker to prevent a pick-six after an interception, and he reached 22.64 miles per hour on that play. Last year, he hit 22.23 miles per hour on a 73-yard touchdown catch
While he’s primarily used as a kick returner for Dallas
Turpin also gets some touches at wide receiver
posting the league’s fifth-highest speed (21.91 miles per hour) of the year in the process
Listed at only 153 pounds, Turpin is built like a paper clip. But while that weight may present contact-balance issues or limit Turpin’s genuine receiving opportunities, he’s incredibly adept at avoiding significant hits on returns. Recently, Pro Football Network’s NFL staff voted Turpin the best kick returner in the NFL thanks in large part to his ridiculous speed
but too much length can make it nearly anatomically impossible to be an effective coverage defender at the NFL level
However, Riq Woolen is an outlier
His 4.26 40-yard yard dash is tied for the fifth-fastest time ever at the NFL Combine
while his 40-yard interception got him into the top 10 fastest speeds of the 2022 NFL season
DJ Turner II ran the NFL Combine’s fastest 40-yard dash in 2023, putting up a 4.26-second run that is now tied for fifth-fastest in league history. His speed and explosion helped the University of Michigan product climb into the second round of last year’s draft, where the Cincinnati Bengals selected him
Turner will have to fend off fellow ex-Michigan DB Dax Hill for starting corner duties opposite Cam Taylor-Britt
and his speed and recovery ability will be a part of his CB2 argument
The fourth and final Dolphin on our list, Jaylen Waddle is the next-best version of Hill
While teams have consistently tried and failed to find the “next Tyreek Hill,” Waddle is at least similar in the way he moves
FREE: Subscribe to PFN’s NFL Newsletter
Many players are incredibly agile and fast with the ball in their hands
Waddle is like Steph Curry: It’s hard to stick to him whether he has the ball or is running routes because his fluidity and explosiveness are not one-dimensional
Chase Brown only touched the ball 58 times during his 2023 rookie season
but he made the most of his limited opportunities
Facing the Indianapolis Colts in Week 14
Brown took a screen pass from Bengals backup quarterback Jake Browning and scampered for a 54-yard touchdown
He reached 22.05 miles per hour on the play
the second-fastest speed in the NFL last year
Brown will have to compete for carries and catches with Cincinnati free agent addition Zack Moss in 2024
WASHINGTON – McNicholas High School added to the growing list of firsts on its home field at Penn Station Stadium
The Rockets opened the 2014 football season with a 21-7 win over visiting Turpin High School in what was the first-ever Friday night varsity game played on the field
as part of the annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown series
It was the first Friday game on a docket that also included neighborhood rivalries like Elder at Oak Hills and La Salle at Colerain (although the latter was played at Miami University's Yeager Stadium)
"It's always good to go up 21-0," said McNick head coach Mike Orlando
"We had a little room to breath at the end and we needed it."
McNick began the scoring early as senior running back Sean Byrne ran 36 yards off tackle and broke to the right sideline for a touchdown on the opening drive of the game
Byrne finished the game with 131 yards on 21 carries
Rocket senior linebacker Will Kamphuas turned Turpin's second possession of the game into points for McNick with a 68-yard interception return for a score
spring by a Nick Staderman block near midfield
McNick jumped to a 21-0 lead on the second play of the the second period thanks to quarterback Luke Sulken's 14-yard keeper for a score
Sophomore Cole Carmosino converted all three point-after kicks
Turpin scored on Jeff Dedeker's 14-yard catch from Bennie Stoll with a minute to play in the first half
"We across the board self destructed," said Rob Stoll
I thought our defense stiffened up and had a pretty good second half
Turpin drove inside the McNick 30 with about 5:30 left to play
The Spartans faced third-and-11 and called a pass
McNick senior linebacker Elliott Higgins broke straight up the middle and sacked Stoll for a big loss
The Rockets didn't give up the ball the rest of the game
"It's pretty nice when you can just hand off to a kid like Byrne and work the clock," Orlando said
Not only did he put points on the board with a 68-yard interception return
but his second pick of the game thwarted a Turpin drive at the three-yard line early in the fourth period
Playing an afternoon game in the recently warm August weather
temperatures on the turf field topped 100 degrees at kickoff
a bank of clouds rolled in at halftime and obscured the sunset
several players suffered heat-related cramps
even as a the temperature cooled noticeably as the game proceeded
The Turpin-McNicholas game was billed as a return to the old King of the Hill rivalry
McNick had a two-season contract to play the Spartans in a home-and-home series in 2010 and 2011
also includes the return of Anderson to the McNick schedule for the first time since former Rocket head coach John Rodenberg - now at Moeller - dropped both neighborhood schools about a decade ago
there were only five divisions in Ohio high school football - compared to seven now - and the numbers gap between Division I Anderson
D-II Turpin and D-III McNick kept many games from being competitive
5 to face Anderson in the second leg of its King of the Hill renewal
The Spartans go to Anderson to complete the local trilogy Oct.10
listed for the past few months through Turpin Realtors' Far Hills office
"generations," said Realtor John Turpin.Turpin's father
profiled Timberfield in one of their volumes of "New Jersey Country Homes: The Somerset Hills," that chronicled the country estates built in the rolling countryside of Somerset and Morris counties from the 1870s through the Great Depression
The books were published by Mountain Colony Press in Far Hills.John Turpin said the antique home
is a "great house," in a "gorgeous" location at 95 Old Dutch Road in Bedminster Township. And
the property carries a "wonderful provenance."
