really good opportunity to not just give money The Orem Giving Machine group partnered with the Red Cross to make donations on an international level again this year people can donate items such as goats or chickens including a number of food-based charities such as Community Action Services and Food Bank Other charities involved are United Way; Eye Care 4 Kids; the Alpine House which helps fortunate because we have a number of great charities that are well-run and really do a good job here locally in Utah Valley,” Seastrand said because there are so many good ones to choose from.” The process of getting the Giving Machines up and running on an annual basis is a meticulous one The first step is identifying and selecting the charities and “getting them up to speed,” Seastrand explained there are legal documents and contracts to work through and with a fairly significant amount of donations you want to make sure that everything is wrapped up and locked in well with the charities,” Seastrand said the most difficult task for new cities is finding a place to put the machine In places unfamiliar with the Giving Machines because business owners are often skeptical of this thing go and we’ve got a wonderful team of individuals,” Seatrand said but it’s still a great joy and privilege to be able to do it.” The Giving Machine program has grown dramatically in recent Eisgruber ’83 called Justice Sotomayor a “trailblazing student” and an “extraordinary jurist” in a University statement announcing the renaming She has served as an Associate Justice since 2009 — the first justice of Hispanic heritage and the third woman in Supreme Court history In her time as an undergraduate at Princeton Justice Sotomayor was a co-chair of the student group Acción Puertorriqueña y Amigos a member of the student-faculty Committee on Discipline and served on the governance board of the Third World Center although the Board of Trustees declined to alter the statue on the basis of Witherspoon’s views on slavery or ownership of enslaved people.  The building is currently undergoing minor changes University Spokesperson Jennifer Morrill said that new signage and a dedicatory plaque will be added to the building Additional changes include “improvements to the bluestone entry plaza and replacement of the canopy fascia,” Morrill wrote in a statement to the ‘Prince.’ This work will be completed over the next few weeks the campus-facing entrance to the University Store is closed and the doors opening to University Place and the Admission Information Center are the only points of entry meaning students must often walk around the building to purchase food Editor-in-Chief of the Princeton Legal Journal wrote to the ‘Prince’ about her excitement for the renaming of 36 University Place “Justice Sotomayor is an incredible example to all Princeton students but particularly students interested in pursuing a legal career,” she wrote.  the specific choice of building was surprising.  “I think that she could probably get a better building,” Ella Anderton ’28 told the ‘Prince.’ “Of all the buildings it is kind of strange they picked the U-Store.” Beatrice Cassidy ’28 also acknowledged Sotomayor’s influence on American politics and felt that it was time for more buildings to be named after her She described the selection of 36 University Place as “a bit random.”  many students see Sotomayor’s name as a powerful reminder of Sotomayor’s successful career after Princeton.   “I believe the naming of Sonia Sotomayor Hall will serve as a powerful reminder to students of Justice Sotomayor’s career as a truth-seeker and advocate for justice and the role that Princeton played in shaping her path to the highest court in the land,” Kraybill said Tess Weinreich is a senior News writer for the ‘Prince’ from Washington She typically covers University operations She was formerly a Managing Editor for the ‘Prince’ Devon Rudolph is an associate News editor and staff Sports writer for the ‘Prince.’ Please direct any corrections to corrections[at]dailyprincetonian.com · April 8 The City of University Place will welcome The Essential Pantry to University Place with a ribbon cutting on Friday April 18 from 11 am-noon at their 3550 Market Place W There are so many great places to live in Houston that it helps to have an expert on your side The Neighborhood Guide presented by Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty gives you insider access from the agents who live and work there providing in-the-know info about your possible new community The City of West University Place is a small town with a big heart West University Place has evolved into a neighborhood that continues to be one of the most loved areas in Houston has contributed to a consistent increase in property values Kasteena Parikh is genuinely passionate about West University Place and worked in real estate there for over 20 years As a proud Houston native and real estate expert her mission is to go above and beyond for her clients "The small-town feel and city services drew me to the area," she says "We have our own police and fire departments and green space make West University Place unique." fast-selling Greenwich Village condoLawsuit claims construction manager CNY Residential “inept” Listen to this article00:001xArgo Real Estate made headlines with its fast-selling luxury condo project at 64 University Place Not so quick was the construction to actually finish the building according to a lawsuit filed by Argo against its construction manager The developer in the complaint alleges CNY Residential which it agreed to pay over $38 million for its work didn’t properly oversee its subcontractors leading to delays in the building receiving its Temporary Certificate of Occupancy The developer is seeking at least $13 million in the lawsuit claiming defective work Construction was initially slated to start in Dec at which point the building would receive its TCO and the building did not receive all its TCOs until this past November The delays were due to CNY’s inability to manage its subcontractors The complaint lays out a domino effect of delays citing an example where two subcontractors’ dilly-dallying in installing glass and the building’s rear facade held up rear scaffolding which led to delays in roof and courtyard work which was originally planned to take 90 days Argo also took issue with the work quality stating that it “was deficient and incomplete and performed with total disregard for professionalism and workmanship.” SIGN UPThe developer blamed some of the delays on an allegedly sparsely attended worksite which it attempted to mitigate with an overtime program to no avail Argo alleged that in speaking with the subcontractors about a lack of attendance during a four-month period in 2024 “it became apparent” that the low worker turnout was due to CNY not paying its subcontractors despite receiving money from Argo CNY also refused to release accounting records and the developer ended up paying some subcontractors out of pocket CNY did not respond to a request for comment Despite the alleged turmoil on the job, 64 University Place had no problem raking in residents. Look at how many years it took for Oasis Hotel Downtown in Singapore to be covered in its vines which were planted AFTER constructing the tower… He means that it will never look like the rendering much like every other building with vines portrayed in this country For a project of this quality in Greenwich Village I’m more than confident it will live up to its intended look in the renderings And way to take a jab at Singapore with your cranky cantankerous and rambunctious attitude (as usual) Really shows your small-minded personality and your inability to think beyond your physical and mental capacity to see the world And how convenient you kept your mouth shut about the 9/11 memorial comment; too much of a coward to give the same level of hatred and hostile apathy are you If those are not clear examples of vine-covered buildings in New York City then I don’t know what to tell you Mayor Kenny other than TAKE A FUCKING HIKE around Manhattan if you lack the will to go outside the country or read about other buildings and cities So a comparison of a building or city outside a America is dismissed but an example of the 9/11 memorial’s landscaping (which FYI does have vines in case you never visited the site) gets no mention from you? I f*cking double dare you to speak and respond to that if you think you’re so smart “Who gives a crap about Singapore?” Mayor Kenny albeit in an aggressive and extremely shuddered tone & lack of perspective and degrading tone is deplorable and as trashy as TMZ Grow up and learn to create an open dialogue instead of causing a row like you always do Just comment once and not have the decency to respond back because people proved you wrong I bet you said the same thing when they proposed the 9/11 Memorial showing renderings with all the trees fully grown and critiquing how short and small the newly planted trees were in 2011 Have some respect and patience for the designers and landscapers Slowly but surely University Place disappears And the feeling of a neighborhood is diminished Are you seriously going to weep over the loss of an insignificant four story brick building over this new project and plenty of undistinguished structures that aren’t worth saving the design is somewhat reminiscent of KPF’s new 520 Fifth Avenue tower maybe cool it on the arched windows for a while So a shorter brick version of Kohn Pedersen Fox’s 520 Fifth Ave… Looks nice This one looks very homey with all of the trees and greenery about the building Yes I can’t wait for them to get to the landscaping phase of construction Wish Michael Young could get photos of that private garden one day Excellent photos with the contrast of light and shadows on the arches 💞 Because those mortar joints are barely noticeable I think you’re right—you can see joints between panels What’s going on with those “keystone” limestone pieces but the cut and paste too thin arches get old Definitely a heck of a lot more attractive than most new construction but it seems far too “busy” of a facade design Too many layers of brick around the windows I hope to see the vines grow in the future There are some really nice buildings around Manhattan that are covered in them like in the village on West 11th Street Just gotta walk around the Instagram and Tik Tok influencers haha emphasizes light and the building’s structural charm: Thanks Yimby should do a follow-up on this building in like two or three years from now and show how much growth of the greenery progressed since the building’s completion ga('send', 'event', 'beautyofblock', 'Impression', 'https://newyorkyimby.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Standard_336x280-100-2.jpg', { nonInteraction: true }); ADVERTISEMENT ga('send', 'event', 'PCRichards Builders Division', 'Impression', 'https://newyorkyimby.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/PCR_Beko_Compact_YIMB_336x280.jpg', { nonInteraction: true }); ga('send', 'event', 'yimby+', 'Impression', 'https://newyorkyimby.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/image.png', { nonInteraction: true }); Follow on Instagram var sb_instagram_js_options = {"font_method":"svg","placeholder":"https:\/\/newyorkyimby.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/instagram-feed\/img\/placeholder.png","resized_url":"https:\/\/newyorkyimby.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sb-instagram-feed-images\/","ajax_url":"https:\/\/newyorkyimby.com\/wp-admin\/admin-ajax.php"}; © COPYRIGHT New York YIMBY® LLC YIMBY IS A REGISTERED TRADEMARK OF NIKOLAI FEDAK / NEW YORK YIMBY LLC West University Place officials made significant changes in the city in 2024 The six options for the civic center include: Kevin joined Community Impact as the Inner-Loop Government Reporter in 2024. The Los Angeles-based firm initiated a U.C.C. foreclosure on the equity interest in the property Arch partners Jeffrey Simpson and Jared Chassen attempted to fire each other and Simpson then went to war against the firm’s main investor Judge Joel Cohen barred Simpson from running the company and placed the Wiener family’s 35 Oak Holdings temporarily in charge “I am left with an abiding sense that whatever Mr Simpson’s talents are as a real estate business person this business is broken at the moment,” Judge Cohen said at one hearing But 88 University Place’s troubles pre-date Arch’s demise WeWork co-founder Adam Neumann partnered with fashion designer Elie Tahari in 2015 to buy the building for $70 million The co-working firm then signed a deal with IBM for the storied company to take 70,000 of the building’s 90,000 square feet The arrangement between Neumann and WeWork came under scrutiny in 2019 as WeWork prepared for an IPO.
