Listeners can imagine riding along with Waldon down some gravel track in far Western Kentucky and builds the song around her relationship with her trusty 1988 Jeep and the contemplations that keep her company as she drives Waldon has no concerns about her “authenticity” or being perceived as dyed-in-the-wool country; she’s been exactly who she is her entire life She leverages this confidence to take up a tired radio trope – the quintessential truck song – and turn it into something earnest It’s a perfect song to take into the summer sipping a cold (soft) beverage out of a glass bottle and blasting Good Country as the miles fly beneath the floorboards “Comanche” is an excellent debutante ball for the upcoming Every Ghost a nine-track album that promises to continue Waldon’s penchant for real original country that’s not too concerned about being mainstream or outlaw “legit” or “poser.” The Kentucky native doesn’t make music or write songs for that reason About finding a thread that feels grounded she untangles plenty of simple and resonant songs that straddle alt-country but even a moment with the lyrics shows the subjects it turns over are much more complex and in-depth This kind of creative work isn’t the only thing she’s been hauling Every Ghost finds the artist challenging herself and growing beyond the sonics “There’s a lot of hard-earned healing on this record,” Waldon shares via press release “I’ve put in the work not only to better myself and leave behind bad habits but I’ve come to find compassion for who I was and that’s a major part of this album.” Waldon’s music has always been honest but Every Ghost still feels like the dawning of a new era Where that honesty and confidence are underpinned by a fresh sense of ease and a trust in herself Like the trust she has in her reliable old friend acting chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission named Sam Waldon as the acting director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement which investigates securities law violations The current acting director of enforcement according to an announcement made earlier this month.  Uyeda was named acting chairman on January 21 Paul Atkins has been nominated by President Donald Trump to succeed Gary Gensler as chair but has yet to be confirmed Uyeda named the following acting senior SEC staff members:  “These talented individuals are committed to protecting the investing public building trust with American companies and market participants and promoting capital formation,” Uyeda said in a statement.   Want the latest institutional investment industry

Waldon’s defense has asked Circuit Judge J Kevin Abdoney to consider his intellectual disabilities before imposing a sentence of either life in prison without parole or the jury’s recommendation: death by lethal injection On Jan. 31, the same jury convicted Waldon of two counts of first-degree murder for killing the Hendersons a crime that sent shock waves across Lakeland The prominent Lakeland couple had been stabbed 23 times with a large kitchen knife missing from a butcher block in their home Waldon also was convicted of burglary of a dwelling with assault assault and battery while armed with a firearm grand theft of a motor vehicle and tampering with physical evidence Waldon’s defense team asked the judge to declare him ineligible for a death sentence because he was intellectually disabled The prosecution countered with a request for the judge to dismiss the defense motion the defense said its expert would provide testimony that at the time of the crimes Waldon was under the influence of extreme mental and emotional disturbance; was unable to appreciate the criminality of his conduct or to conform to the requirements of the law; and that other mental health factors in Waldon's background would mitigate against the imposition of the death penalty If Waldon is found to have an intellectual disability Florida statutes would make him ineligible for a death sentence Waldon was present in the Bartow courtroom during the most recent Nov 6  hearing when Abdoney agreed to allow the prosecution an expert who will review Waldon's mental health findings Abdoney repeatedly asked him to seriously consider it The mitigation would have included evidence about Waldon's background and assessments that may have convinced the jury of an intellectual disability and potentially changed their recommendation After Waldon's trial had started earlier this year the defense filed a report from forensic neuropsychologist Hyman Hirsch Eisenstein that showed Waldon had suffered several head injuries scored low on IQ tests and never finished high school among other indicators he could be intellectually disabled the prosecution named Gregory Pritchard as their expert The back and forth comes as a resumption of Waldon’s Spencer hearing is scheduled for Jan which may be too soon for both sides to make their case for or against an intellectual disability 13 to gauge the progress in the case and address additional issues A Spencer hearing allows any final details about the case to be presented to the judge prior to imposition of the sentence the first half of the Spencer hearing was held when the defense expert first testified and gave evidence for an intellectual disability The Eisenstein report found several factors that could determine Waldon's disability Waldon had a verbal IQ of 60 and performance IQ of 60 with his full-scale IQ at 56 Average intelligence on IQ tests is usually in the 90 to 109 range “56 is today what we refer to as the intellectually disabled range.”   an attorney and blogger at Tracking Florida’s Death Penalty “There is no brightline IQ cutoff for determining ID the Court considers 3 factors,” citing Oats v Subaverage intellectual functioning;  Significant limitations in adaptive skills;  And manifestation of the condition before age 18.And citing a 2016 case “[I]f one of the prongs is relatively less strong a finding of intellectual disability may still be warranted based on the strength of the other prongs."  The recent case in which a judge decided to impose life instead of death occurred in Sumter County Ronnie Brown was charged with first-degree murder for allegedly beating and raping a retired beloved Air Force veteran who had befriended him and his wife and actually helped take care of Brown’s wife before she passed as well,” she wrote But she also reported on several other death penalty cases where the courts did not side with the defense on this issue, including appeals to the U.S. Supreme. Court Details of Waldon's intellectual disability were presented by his defense at the first half of a Spencer hearing, according to a LkldNow report in August Eisenstein said he had spent 18 hours interviewing Waldon and another 50 hours questioning his family members and reviewing Waldon’s legal Waldon and his family gave Eisenstein the details of “a fractured childhood of physical and emotional abuse” from his stepfather as well as his “abandonment by his biological father,” LkldNow reported Waldon was tested because he was failing his classes at Lakeland Highlands Middle School and found to have an IQ similar to a person age 7 “Even though he met the criteria for intellectual disability the school psychologist and staffing committee opined that Marcelle would be best assisted by being placed in this specific learning (disability) program rather than the educably mentally handicapped program,” Eisenstein said Waldon failed the seventh grade and transferred to Kathleen Middle School and after his grades improved he was later placed into regular classes at Kathleen Senior High School and failed out of school Eisenstein also said his work history showed he was unable to hold a steady job he had suffered multiple head injuries from childhood through his high school years Some resulted in hospital visits for treatment and such injuries “can lead to brain damage and health issues.”   Waldon's family also told Eisenstein his sister and a girlfriend reported Waldon had severe psychiatric issues from his teen years and heard voices telling him to kill people as well as hallucinations He was in and out of local and state mental health facilities and previously incarcerated While both types of institutions prescribed psychiatric medications and treatments he stopped taking the medications on release His family also reported odd issues with his hygiene He continuously talked to himself and laughed inappropriately Waldon has a history of alcohol abuse and drug use “His statement to you was that he didn’t do it Waldon’s defense had never asked the Eisenstein to determine whether Waldon was insane He told the court he believes Waldon is sane but his capacity to understand what he was doing was impaired A prosecutor's rebuttalAssistant State Attorney Michael Nutter asked Eisenstein if he had read the police affidavit containing a narrative and a list of the charges you are unaware of any potential steps that the defendant took to avoid apprehension?” Nutter asked you’re unaware that he tried to burn down the crime scene using the microwave bomb … And you’re unaware that he burned one of the victim’s cars … and you’re unaware that he deleted incriminating evidence of his cell phone?”  Eisenstein answered “correct” to all the questions Nutter asked: “And deleting evidence is evidence that someone knows that what they did is wrong?”  Game Recap: Baseball | 4/5/2025 6:15:00 PM Thanks for visiting — A 17-year-old boy was Ireland's best local journalism The 100th anniversary of the playing of the Herald Cup took place on Friday had become the traditional home for the playing of the final on Good Friday The playing of this game over the Easter period changed when the South Devon-based teams playing in the football pyramid were fixtured to play over the Easter weekend effectively putting the pitches out of bounds to grassroots finals the South Devon Football League Cups Committee have had to put the playing of the Herald Cup Final further into the back end of the season The other hurdle the Committee are faced with is that most of the pyramid clubs only have a short window of opportunity for pitch maintenance which impacts the availability of these grounds for South Devon League Cup Finals the SDFL are extremely grateful to Newton Abbot Spurs for offering their facilities to host some of the league’s prestigious end of season fixtures And what an evening at the Rec in a Herald Cup Final to remember a game that had everything you would expect from the jewel in the South Devon League crown six yellows and a partisan crowd that turned out to be Waldon Athletic’s 12th man in their moment of need It was also a game of two halves and the first belonged to Waldon who peppered the Kingsteignton goal but Ellis Rattue was equal to what came his way Jacob Knapman had a couple of early chances and was a real threat in front of goal for the Torquay team The spectators only had to wait 17 minutes for him to receive the ball on the edge of the box and a powerful shot was parried by the Kingsteignton ‘keeper The Rams defence seemed to stand still whilst Knapman followed up and thrashed the ball into the goal to give Waldon the lead The game continued to be end-to-end with the Torquay side having the best chances Knapman went close again in the 23rd minute and you felt a second goal now would give Kingsteignton a mountain to climb The next big talking point was in the 40th minute when a Waldon defender put in a poor challenge on Kelsey Leech inside the penalty box and the referee did not hesitate in pointing to the spot The same Kingsteignton player got up and grabbed the ball The crowd had hardly settled down from the penalty miss when two players went for a high ball and the Kingsteignton player went to ground holding his head As the referee had stopped play for the injury he spoke to his assistant and they agreed it was dangerous play by the Waldon player Ashley Grimes who was shown the first red card of the game the second half started with the Rams on the front foot and it was them who were peppering the Waldon goal who would go on to win the man of the match award from Torbay Clearance Services a simple challenge for the ball turned into a moment of madness for Waldon midfielder Liam Mckendrick who received a red card for violent conduct and the Torquay side were down to nine players All Kingsteignton needed was a goal and they would surely go on to lift the trophy The support for Waldon was fantastic and whilst they had some wobble moments manager Steve Breed made some changes and brought on fresh legs They settled into playing with just the nine and one of those changes was the introduction of South Devon League stalwart Sean Finch who seemed to give his team a lift and the game changed in the 71st minute when a rare Waldon attack resulted in a poor challenge inside the box and the referee awarded his second penalty of the evening Jacob Knapman already knew where the goal was and he stepped forward to slot home his second goal and put the Waldon supporters in dreamland with 19 minutes left to play Next up on the list of moments that excited the crowd was when Waldon’s Louie Roberts received the ball in the centre circle and having no team-mate in front of him to pass it too turned and lobbed the ‘keeper from 40 yards only to see the ball bounce just over the bar Sean Finch then had a great shot palmed over the bar from the edge of the penalty box the experienced Finch was able to slow the game and there were a number of times when he and the ball were in the corner of the pitch The referee blew the final whistle and you could feel what this cup win meant to the Waldon Athletic group who were not perfect on the night but fair play to them they were the better team even with nine players and deserved winners of the 24/25 are incredibly knowledgeable in their respectives fields we do not have any issues contacting and scheduling interviews with administrators but we recently ran into difficulties with Public Safety Director James Waldon and they are available within the next 24-48 hours for an interview a majority of interviews only take 10-15 minutes to complete The Rider News initially reached out to Waldon on Oct 7 via email to discuss the 2023 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report we called Public Safety three times on Oct “I can add a meeting to your calendar to speak with the Director on October 17th If you’re unable to meet with him on October 17 please email me the questions you would like to ask him.”  We were unable to meet at the provided time so we attempted to reschedule via email for Oct we emailed Waldon to follow up and received another response from Grossman Grossman also requested we send interview questions in advance so Waldon had time to prepare.  Once a reporter arrived at the scheduled time they were informed that an interview was never arranged and Waldon had not yet come into the office to prepare The reporter was asked to wait an additional 30 minutes to talk with Waldon once he came in.  Waldon told the reporter that he might be available for an interview at 12:30 p.m. and he would give them a call by 12:15 p.m Waldon called to ask the reporter if the interview could take place at 6 p.m Public Safety informed the reporter he was available and transferred the call to Waldon who expected the interview to be in person Since Tuesday nights are when we assemble the newspaper the reporter was unable to meet Waldon in person.  It is routine for journalists to record their interviews to ensure accuracy when reporting This meant the reporter had to write down each word he said as he spoke When asked to repeat information for clarity Waldon often changed the wording or spoke about another part of the report.  the reporter incorrectly stated numbers from the report after misreading a statistic Rather than providing the accurate statistic Waldon simply stated the reporter was wrong and did not provide clarification until the reporter asked that she played with the bluegrass band Della Mae Born in the bluegrass state of Kentucky and raised on Wyoming’s high plains she was bit by the bluegrass bug early and grew up playing with her family where she began to make a name for herself playing the upright bass Means is also one half of roots duo Sally & George with her husband and collaborator Perhaps the only thing she hasn't done as a bassist artist and side musician after all these years This time her famous friends are backing her up as she steps into the spotlight Produced by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Maya De Vitry the album also features star turns from Billy Strings “I always knew I wanted my first solo album to be bluegrass,” Means explains but I certainly have explored other styles – like with Sally & George – but I kept dreaming of my time in Nashville and how I used to love to host jam sessions and invite my friends and neighbors.” “I didn’t feel like I had to stick with one band for the whole thing,” Means adds “I wanted it to feel like my favorite chili pickin’ parties Two of those friends and neighbours from Nashville are coming over to sing back up on the first taste of the album 'Farm Girl,' as Kelsey Waldon and Rachel Baiman add their unmistakable all-star harmonies to the song A sapphic fantasy about a Wrangler wearing all American farm girl being admired from afar by a guitar picking neigbour the playfully subversive front porch sing-along feels like a breath of fresh bluegrass air blowing in “It's one of those songs that my husband has been sitting on for a few years," Means shared about the new song "It started as a co-write with Mack Leaphart in Nashville When I was looking for songs to put on my record I decided to sing lead and make it a farm girl on girl fantasy My side of the story came from growing up in Wyoming I had a lot of fun turning the chorus into a call and response with different ways to describe a farm girl in the lyrics I tapped some of my oldest gal pals from Nashville Kelsey Waldon and Rachel Baiman to sing harmony we started a band in the early 2010’s called Kryptonite Puss” We unearthed some photos of this mythical supergroup but good luck trying to find any recordings of them It looks like the closest we'll get to Kryptonite Puss is 'Farm Girl.'
