NC – An 83-year-old woman has been found dead after a fire burned through a home in Waxhaw The Union County Sheriff’s Office says firefighters were called to the burning home on Whispering Wind Road just before 10am on Monday Firefighters were able to quickly put out the flames A second person managed to get out of the home by climbing through a window Paramedics treated them at the scene and then took them to the hospital There’s no word at this time about what caused the fire If you know anything that can help investigators The fire happened around 10 a.m. on Monday, May 5, at a house along Whispering Hollow Lane near Cane Creek Road in Waxhaw Deputies said emergency crews arrived and quickly extinguished the fire; however an elderly resident was found dead inside the home Reports stated a second occupant escaped by climbing out of a window and was taken to the hospital --> Also read: Teen accused of stealing car, gun in Charlotte after avoiding court-ordered placement the person who died in the fire has not been identified and the cause of the fire has not been determined The Waxhaw Historic Preservation Commission has compiled an interactive map of historic places.
