He left this life surrounded by his loving wife
to Levi and Virginia Larrabee Hunt in Provo
his life was filled with lessons on resilience
His response to hardships embodied this quote he often shared with his children: “Life is to be enjoyed
David was the fourth of six children and grew up in Centerville
He contracted polio at the age of two and spent much of his childhood receiving care at Primary Children’s Hospital
Part of his care included straightening bones in his feet with braces and aiding his lungs by placing him in an iron lung
His parents were able to visit him once a week
he anxiously watched out the window for their car
only to see them arrive and soon drive away
one of his legs was slightly shorter and weaker than the other
David would jump up and down on that leg to try to strengthen it
and he would have a hard time sleeping because of the pain
David would get choked up as he talked about his dad
trying to take away the pain so that he could sleep
David treasured the strong bond he had with his siblings and parents
Some of his favorite times with them included camping behind Timpanogos and trips to Yellowstone
He also enjoyed their Sunday drives with his grandma Larrabee to the Uinta Mountains
starting his first job at Dick’s Market at the age of twelve
which is remarkable considering the way polio affected his leg
One of his greatest achievements and memories was winning the All-Church Basketball Tournament with his cousin Brian and neighborhood friends
The friendships forged among these boys continued throughout their lives
David threw his heart and soul into serving the people of Houston
as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
After attending BYU and working for Zion’s Bank
he met and quickly fell in love with Diane Richins
Diane knew she wanted to marry David when she watched him play with and care for his nephews and nieces – she had no doubt he would be an incredible father
They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1977 and made their home in West Bountiful
They raised six children and built a beautiful life
They loved the people in their neighborhood so much that
Many of their neighbors became lifelong friends and camping companions
Those friends often accompanied the Hunt family on expeditions to Capitol Reef
which he later bought from his uncles and dad
He loved his customers and took pride in the trust they had in him
worked as his secretary; he appreciated that time with her so much
They loved the opportunity to visit church properties on and around Temple Square
and spraying trees at numerous Forest Service campgrounds
David’s greatest passion was his kids (and later his grandkids)
He loved life and taught them to take pleasure in the simple
but it’s nicer to stay in bed.” He made the perfect pancakes
flipping them when he’d counted 30 bubbles in the batter
which he called “The Devil’s Tool.” He cheered for (and sometimes yelled at) the BYU Cougars
He loved listening to the rain on the roof of the camp trailer and playing late-night Monopoly games by lamplight
If there was an impressive lightning storm in the middle of the night
he would wake everyone up and pull them out of bed so that they could huddle together on the front porch and enjoy it
Every night he made sure that Diane got some alone time—he sat in the upstairs hallway
in between the girls’ and boys’ bedrooms
Everyone would hurry to get ready for bed so they wouldn’t miss “The Lion
and the Wardrobe,” or his original adventures of a young Indian maiden named Little Fawn
David could be found driving up to the family property
He made everything about going up Cottonwood fun
starting with opening the yellow gate at the bottom of the canyon
Hunting and hiking; snowmobiling and four-wheeling; camping with the whole family
or just one lucky kid; pushing the grandkids on the swings and teaching them to drive the four-wheelers—it was his favorite place to be
Countless hours were spent making improvements and making memories
when David became too sick to ride up the bumpy road
his nephew Curt flew him up in one of his helicopters
giving him a view of the mountains he loved so much
David couldn’t understand much of what was going on
but when we told him that Curt was going to take him on a helicopter ride
wanting to put on his shoes and coat so that he wouldn’t miss out on this lifelong dream
his only concern was that all the kids and grandkids got a ride as well
His last trip up Cottonwood was one his family will never forget
but mighty testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and looked for opportunities to help others
and volunteering to be one of the priesthood brethren at girls’ camps when his girls were there
he was thrilled to be able to take several scout groups on high adventure camps
after spraying an apartment for a family that had fallen on hard times
he invited the West Bountiful 5th Ward to donate everything the family needed to furnish their apartment and live comfortably for several months
The response from the ward was overwhelming
he learned that the daughter of an acquaintance of his
He made it his mission that Fall to help her fill her tag
When his children asked him recently what he wanted his legacy to be
David and Diane were able to serve for almost three years as inner-city missionaries
where they helped refugees in Salt Lake City and built incredible friendships
David and Diane honeymooned in Yellowstone and returned with their family at least once a year
These trips always included hiking somewhere new (hoping they would have the trail all to themselves)
They’d wake up early for the chance to spot animals in the Hayden Valley mist
and go out to eat at the Lake Lodge if he could convince Diane to scrap her dinner plans
His retirement dream was to work at the Lake General Store
David enjoyed eating lunch with the “old boys.” He found a love for photography and took countless pictures of wildlife and his grandkids
which he delighted in printing out and sharing with others
He cherished his fishing trips with his brothers and boys
and any opportunity to be in nature with family and friends
He loved building block towers with the grandkids
making popcorn with extra butter and watching Hallmark movies with anyone who would watch with him
He attended as many of his grandkids’ events as possible and was always interested in their lives
He could tell you who got an A on their test
and how potty training was going for the preschoolers
His kids knew that if they didn’t call or visit him during the day
Dad would call them to see how they were doing and get an update on their lives
During his last days—and since--tributes have poured in from those whose lives he touched
We are all so grateful for his example and influence
He is survived by siblings: Richard (Karen)
David’s family would like to thank the Enhabit Hospice Team including Linda
who educated us on hospice and facilitated a smooth transition; his long-time physician
Scott Southworth; his internal medicine doctor
Lisani Estopinan; the Kidney Transplant Team at the University of Utah; and all who cared for him at Lakeview Hospital
always treating him with dignity and respect
We are forever grateful for David’s sister Sherrie
who selflessly donated her kidney five and a half years ago
We also appreciate her husband Dan and their children who wholeheartedly supported that decision
Their invaluable gift gave us more time with him and the chance for several of his grandkids to build memories with a grandpa they would never have met

During every timeout in Friday’s 5A state championship
Bountiful coach Joel Burton reminded his team that a West run was coming
The undefeated Panthers were too good to wilt despite a double-digit second half deficit
“They’re just too good of a team to hold down like that
and the catalyst wasn’t the player Burton expected
Bountiful sophomore guard Maleah Nelson hit back-to-back 3-pointers in a span of 34 seconds — one of which she turned into a four-point play — as her personal 7-0 run helped Bountiful pull away from top seed West 57-47 to secure its third straight state championship
West battled back to take a 41-40 lead early in the fourth quarter
Milika Satuala hit a jumper to put Bountiful back in front 42-41
and Nelson’s 7-0 outburst pushed the lead to 49-41
“The response didn’t necessarily come from the person I was expecting it would
and so I wasn’t surprised she hit those shots either
Nelson finished with a career-high 15 points but admitted it took her a while to settle into the game
but I just stayed focused and looked to play as a team and just had an opportunity that no one really gets,” she said
Satuala led Bountiful with 17 points to go along with her six rebounds
Her poise and calmness under heavy pressure from West’s defense was one of the catalysts to the 3-peat
she was trying to figure out how to be a passer and assist-getter,” said Burton
adding that there was a gradual uptick in her productivity throughout the season
but it’s the one that I wanted to work towards
and I wanted to play a guard since I was little,” Satuala said
all my teammates and coaches and my dad have helped me get to being able to lead the team and control like the tight situations that we get in.”
even after falling behind 26-18 at the half and then 32-21 with 5:15 left in the third quarter
Led by Kylee Falatea’s five points and four more from Tiana Fa
the Panthers cut the deficit to 38-36 by the end of the third and then took that 41-40 lead after a 3-point play from Falatea and a bucket in the paint by Ale Fonoti
Falatea finished with a team-high 16 points for West
Bountiful star Taylor Harvey wrapped up her decorated high school career with nine points and eight rebounds but struggled with her shot
The fact the Redhawks still won by 10 points despite Harvey’s offensive struggles is a testament to the culture Burton has built the past three years
It hasn’t been about necessarily who scores or who’s getting any of the glory
Burton said one of the unsung heroes for Bountiful was Brynna Castleton
who’s defense on Falatea played a key role in holding West to just 35% shooting for the game

CENTERVILLE — Over 8,000 Rocky Mountain Power customers were without power Monday morning after the company said a substation caught fire
Jona Whitesides with RMP said the substation affected by the fire was near Legacy Parkway and Parish Lane
The outage there affected another substation
making the problem more widespread and impacted approximately 8,162 customers in Centerville
Whitesides said the cause of the fire was still being investigated but police said later the fire broke out after an explosion
South Davis Metro Fire said nearby refineries were flaring off gas due to the outage
The flare-offs were all due to normal protocol
A fire at a substation in Davis County caused a power outage for over 8,000 customers on Monday
The fire caused problems at other substations and additionally caused refineries to flare-off gas
“We have dispatched crews to investigate and make repairs,” RMP said
Traffic lights were beginning to be restored just before 9 a.m.
but police said the roads were still chaotic
so now would be a good time to limit nonessential travel,” police said
“Treat all nonfunctional traffic lights as 4-way stops
Please be extra mindful of kids walking to school this morning.”
RMP estimated the time of restoration would be 11 a.m.
although Whitesides said there could be additional delays

Freight and commuter train operators are sounding train horns across the Wasatch Front more frequently than usual
citizens across the region are hopeful it's just temporary
Nearly every railroad crossing from Ogden to Provo
including many previously designated quiet zones
no longer meets Federal Railroad Administration standards after the agency recently updated its quiet zone regulations
Union Pacific and Utah Transit Authority officials confirmed on Tuesday
Quiet zones are designations for which cities can apply
where railroad crossings are safe enough for operators to pass through without using a horn unless they believe there's an immediate threat on the tracks
The federal agency says cities across the Wasatch Front will need to update striping
curbing and other safety measures to retain their quiet zone status
which applied for quiet zone status for multiple cities across the Wasatch Front
UTA and Union Pacific officials said in a joint statement Tuesday
The policy change has prompted more train horns at more intersections at all hours of the day beginning this week
"Rail safety is critical — it only takes seconds for tragedy to strike
… As cities determine how they respond to the (Federal Railroad Administration) findings
UTA and Union Pacific must instruct our operators to sound horns every time we cross these areas," the companies wrote
Many residents — especially those who live near quiet zones — have noticed the change
Davis County residents flooded the Ring app this week to report their experiences
"I live one block from (West Bountiful City Park) and the train whistle sure woke me," one person wrote
"(I) hope that isn't going to be our new normal."
City officials across the region also hope unlimited train horns are not the new normal
Lehi officials said they believe the deficiencies are "minor and don't pose a safety risk."
They added that cities are "working diligently to address the issues" so all previously designated quiet zones can be reestablished as soon as possible
Some of the other impacted cities issued similar statements this week
It remains unclear when the situation will be resolved
but UTA and Union Pacific officials say they plan to help cities get their quiet zones back on track with federal standards
residents will have to deal with more train horns than usual
Jeffrey Thomas Terry unexpectedly left this earth on July 2nd
Jodie) having grown up together in Bountiful
He played football at Woods Cross High School
four wheeling and especially escaping to the mountains any chance he could get with his Great Danes Coach and Roxy
beautiful firecracker named Kate and they were married in the Bountiful Temple on January 21st
He was forever changed when he became a father to feisty Addison Jane (8)
They are his reason for such a valiant fight in life
There are no words to adequately convey his love for them and theirs for him; they will forever adore him.
Jeff worked in heavy machinery and automotive; he knew the meaning of hard work
dirty and calloused hands and the process of identifying a need and fixing it
He truly appreciated all the work friends he made over the years
He served various callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
oftentimes supporting the young men and teaching the youth alongside Kate
His wife Kate is his “person” – his rock
you know he was a skilled handyman who could fix or repair anything
a true blue-collar guy who could do anything with power tools
but don’t ask him to write an essay (spelling was not his forte)
Jeff is the type of person who will give you the shirt off his back – massively generous & dedicated to serving others
He is a helper to his core – always helping at gatherings with dinner
often quietly – doing it without wanting to be noticed
Jeff was the first one to show up when someone needed help – the first responder for family
His loyalty and friendship was unbreakable
the best words to describe Jeff are: helpful
Jeff became an active member of his recovery community
finding a sense of purpose and connection throughout his journey
He was dearly loved at South Davis Recovery Club in Bountiful
but it was never about that for Jeff – he felt that in giving
He selflessly provided service because it is what he loves to do.
Jeff battled long and hard with mental health challenges and depression that ultimately led to his untimely passing
We will miss his earthly presence but are faithful that his heavenly presence will surround us as we move forward in grief
we know that he will be doing everything possible to serve us from the other side
We feel deep peace knowing he is whole and free from suffering and in the arms of our Savior
but our hearts have also been expanding with the outpouring of love & support from family
which is exactly what Jeff would have wanted.
Kate and their two children Addison Jane and Beau Jeffrey.

Utah — Three executive officers of a West Bountiful company have been arrested on multiple human trafficking charges possibly involving hundreds of employees following a six-month investigation
along with Chief Financial Officer Clayton Phillips and Human Resources executive Adam Perea were charged Monday with seven counts of Aggravated Human Trafficking and one count of Pattern of Unlawful Activity following their alleged actions with employees brought into the country from Mexico
The charges allege the landscaping and snow removal company forced employees to live in less-than-desirable company-owned housing while forcing them to pay rent that would be deducted from their pay
while also forcing them to purchase company phones in order to use a company app
"These businesses had applied for approximately 150 H-2B visas
and were bringing migrant workers in from Mexico
That number alone drew some attention," said Leo Lucey
Chief of Investigations with the Utah Attorney General's Office
"We had several of the individuals that had been brought into the country to work come forward with complaints of exploitation."
Employees and witnesses told authorities that any complaints or failure to comply with the company rules would lead to less pay and threats of deportation
Seven adult victims are listed in the charges
all telling similar stories of what occurred after they moved from Mexico to Utah in order to work at Rubicon
While only a small handful of victims provided statements to law enforcement
authorities believe up to 150 company employees have been treated similarly
employees said they were promised 40 hours of work at $20 per hour
with one saying his pay was deducted for "using foul language," according to the charges
An employee said he was paid just $1,400 for four months of work and was relying on churches and food banks to get food and other necessities
Another employee said a group of 7 individuals were provided with rice
and they had to pool money together to buy groceries
Many of the employees say the American Fork and West Valley City homes they were forced to live in by Rubicon had no furniture
with as many as 3 people sleeping on the floor in one room
The victims were allegedly charged up to $350 a month to live in the homes
Rubicon executives allegedly told the employees they could only opt out of the rent deduction policy after 12 months
Perea and Phillips allegedly came to the homes to collect overdue rent
employees said they were not allowed to miss work due to medical reasons
The company executives would allegedly threaten the employees with deportation if they tried to call out of work or attempt to receive medical attention
Some employees said they were not trained on how to drive the snowplows they were expected to use and some didn't know how to drive at all
One Rubicon employee said he was told by executives that he didn't need a U.S
driver's license to use the company vehicles for work
an employee said he was forced to work 24 hours straight with only one 1-hour break
employees were able to show employees the worked hours they had logged
When an employee noticed his pay had been deducted for a crash
the employee confronted Perea and Phillips
telling the men there had been no accident
The executives laughed at the employee before placing him in what he said was a room similar to an interrogation room where the officials blocked the exit and told him "they didn't need people like him who complained
The man's employment was terminated following the incident
Employees were also told they would be deported if they attempted to find employment anywhere else
Witnesses told authorities that Rubicon employees were forced to shove l snow in tennis shoes
traffic laws or how to operate large vehicles
Other witnesses said employees were forced to work on just 1-3 hours of sleep
"you'd be shocked how many illegal things I've done for Rubicon in just the past few weeks."
who are representing the company on behalf of the Ray Quinney & Nebeker law firm
sent FOX 13 News a statement Monday evening:
"We learned today that Rubicon is being investigated by the Attorney General’s Office about its labor practices
Rubicon denies any wrongdoing and has complied in good faith with all applicable laws
Rubicon is cooperating with the investigation and believes it will ultimately be vindicated."
AG Sean Reyes announced that his office expects more arrests in this case
“The treatment of these workers is appalling," Reyes said in a statement
“We intend to prove the victims are innocent people who came to America using a legal immigration process to work hard
we believe they were exploited in subhuman living and working conditions as indentured servants in a labor trafficking scheme.”
According to the West Bountiful Police Department

The falling pillar critically injured Morley
who was taken to the hospital where she later died
One of the other girls in the hammock received minor injuries
The incident happened near 800 West Heritage Point Lane
"We are all saddened by the sudden loss of our sweet Madolin - a kind
and bright young woman who touched countless lives," said Matt Morley
"We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our family

WEST BOUNTIFUL — A man suspected of being involved in the fatal shooting of a man in the parking lot of a Lowe's home improvement store in West Bountiful Friday morning was taken into custody after a standoff with Grand County sheriff's deputies on U.S
Police identified the victim as Zachary Carson
Bountiful dispatch began to receive calls about a shooting that had occurred in the parking lot at 350 N
and officers arrived to find Carson unresponsive in his vehicle after being shot multiple times
The woman identified the suspected shooter as her estranged husband
Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures
but Carson was pronounced dead at the scene
The woman had fled following the shooting and later was met by Bountiful and Centerville police
Investigators learned that the woman and Jackson had been separated for approximately a year and the woman was in the process of filing for divorce
The woman told investigators that Carson had been helping her with divorce paperwork
The pair had met at the parking lot about 7:30 p.m
on Thursday before leaving together in his vehicle
Video footage captured by Lowe's shows Jackson arriving at the parking lot about 2 a.m
on Friday where he circled the parking lot where "it is presumed he locates her vehicle as he then parks across the parking lot away from her vehicle distanced but within view," according to a probable cause statement
A warrant was later obtained for the woman's vehicle where police located a tracking device on her vehicle that she was unaware had been placed there
When Carson and the woman arrived back at the parking lot
she saw a man she recognized as her estranged husband walking from across the parking lot and an argument ensued
The two men began fighting while the woman tried to intervene but was grabbed and pushed against her vehicle
Police later determined that when she was pushed against the vehicle it bruised her arm and left a mark on her back
When Carson protested and "told Jake he couldn't treat her like that
Jake then shot Zachary," the statement added
Jackson then pointed the weapon at the woman and demanded she take him to his son
The woman got into her vehicle and began to leave while her estranged husband "began pounding on the vehicle passenger side door with the handgun in his hand," the statement said
Police located a vehicle suspected of being involved in the shooting and investigators said they were looking for Jake Jackson
who was driving a gray 2014 Chevrolet Silverado
with Utah "In God We Trust" license plate 8K7TA
who they believed might be heading for Emery County
the Grand County Sheriff's Office said it had closed U.S
191 "due to a barricaded homicide suspect" and urged people to avoid traveling south of Moab toward Monticello
The office confirmed the barricade was related to the shooting death in West Bountiful
Officers were able to disable Jackson's vehicle and a SWAT team "utilized less lethal chemical munitions and at least one less-lethal impact round," according to police
Deputies updated the Facebook post at 1:08 p.m.
saying the highway was open and the suspect was in custody
"The investigation is ongoing into possible motives and events leading up to the shooting," police said in a statement
"Our condolences go out to those affected by today's events."
Jackson was booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of murder
threat or use of a deadly weapon in a fight
unlawful installation of a tracking device

Utah (KUTV) — A West Bountiful family is finding healing in an unlikely way
months after losing their daughter in a tragic accident
Wes and Melissa Morley told KUTV 2News in an interview Thursday
they have found some unexpected support from the people who were with them on the worst day of their life
“I have just a really deep appreciation for our law enforcement,” said Melissa
Madolin was the oldest of three children and loved to study
“She was always looking outside herself,” said Wes
where she had just finished her sophomore year
she and some friends were relaxing in a backyard hammock when the rock pillar fell on her
Melissa said she got a call from one of Madolin’s friends and rushed over to the house
she met West Bountiful Police Chief Brandon Erekson who had to ask her to stay back as paramedics worked on Madolin
“It was probably one of the hardest things trying to keep a mother away from their daughter so that that’s not the last image” she saw
Madolin was transported to the hospital where she passed away
the Morleys had a chance to visit Chief Erekson and the other officers who responded and say thank you
They also got to meet the dispatchers who took the 911 call as well as some of the staffers at the hospital
“I just don’t ever think they’ll know on the hardest days that they have is where their compassion shines the most,” Melissa said
“We’ve all been able to come together and heal together,” said Melissa
The Morleys now see West Bountiful's first responders often – at parades
or at the station where they treat each other like family
“That’s actually one of the ways we’ve described her,” Erekson said
“is she’s actually like kind of the department mother.”
The Morleys have also been lifted up by gifts and kindness from friends and strangers alike
but they said the support – from everywhere – has made a difference
“We’ve witnessed a lot of good in the last six months,” Melissa said
SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A 2News investigation into the deadly domestic violence shooting in West Bountiful found that the man police said repeatedly pulled the trigger killing Zachary Carson recently had domestic violence and other violent charges dismissed
2News Chief Investigative Reporter Wendy Halloran did some digging and discovered that West Jordan City prosecutors gave Jake Thomas Jackson a plea deal in a domestic violence case in May of this year
he got into an argument with his wife's brother
he pulled a gun out in front of their young son
and his wife tried to keep him from confronting her brother with the weapon
The probable cause affidavit shows Jackson got into an argument with his brother-in-law and his wife Angelica could hear it from the driveway of their home
she saw her husband and her brother arguing very close to each other
The couple's young son was crying on the stairs
Angelica told West Jordan Police officer Alan Salijevic that her husband was being "aggressive" which led her to believe that he was going to assault her brother if she didn't separate them
She separated them but then Jackson went into the bedroom where his wife and son were
That's when the document shows Jackson heard his brother-in-law come back into the house again and he grabbed a holstered firearm which was on top of his nightstand and told Angelica
"Tell your brother to get the **** out."
That same document shows Angelica stepped in front of her husband to prevent him from leaving their bedroom with the gun
"The suspect and wife are married and have one child together making this a domestic violence incident
The suspect was found to be in violation of Utah Code 76-5-114 for the commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child due to the suspect's juvenile son being on the stairs during the verbal argument and in the bedroom when the suspect exhibited the firearm in a threatening manner."
Jake Thomas Jackson was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail in the early morning hours of November 15th on the following offenses: Disorderly Conduct
Threat/Use of a Dangerous Weapon in Fight and Domestic Violence in the Presence of a Child
An order to hold without bail shows if he were to post bail in the amount of $2,500 that he would be released with several conditions
"Defendant shall forfeit or refrain from possession of a firearm or other dangerous weapon."
the prosecution supervisor at the West Jordan City Attorney's Office charged him with Threat of Violence - a Class B Misdemeanor
Domestic Violence in the Presence of a Child
also a Class B Misdemeanor and Disorderly Conduct
West Jordan City prosecutors gave him a plea deal on May 30
Prosecutor Sterling Corbett dismissed two charges — Threat of Violence and Domestic Violence in the Presence of a Child - with prejudice
That meant those charges could not be refiled
Prosecutors also amended the disorderly conduct charge to an infraction
to which he pleaded guilty and paid a $160 fine
Jackson was placed on probation under the supervision of the court for six months
they then removed the domestic violence designation from that charge
which made it a non-domestic violence conviction
On Wednesday 2News reporter Arielle Harrison contacted the City of West Jordan in an attempt to find out why the domestic violence designation was removed from its case against Jackson
Late in the day she received a statement from Tauni Barker
the Director of Public Affairs for the City of West Jordan
West Jordan police responded to a non-physical domestic dispute at a residence
the case was referred to the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office for prosecution
West Jordan authorities found insufficient evidence to support charges related to threats with a weapon or domestic violence
Jake Jackson was charged and plead [sic] to disorderly conduct
West Jordan's Victim's Assistance Office offered support to both victims in the original case
offering additional support and seeking assistance in prosecution in the matter
received no response from either victim."
SALT LAKE CITY PROSECUTOR SIM GILL GAVE JACKSON A PLEA IN ABEYANCE IN 2019 ASSAULT CASE
Salt Lake City prosecutors suspended prosecution against him on assault and intoxication charges also involving his wife and ordered him to get treatment instead of prosecuting him

Utah (KUTV) — The people who live near the Holly Refinery in West Bountiful are used to hearing the weekly alarm test on Fridays at noon

West Bountiful Police had posted to social media letting people know it was just a false alarm

The refinery had a false alarm sound on Dec
Hixson said his department is in close contact with refinery officials and will work to alert people in the event of a real emergency
People who commented on the West Bountiful Police Facebook post raised concerns about the false alarms
shouldn’t they halt work till they know what’s going on,” Paul Lloyd wrote
“I just don’t want to wake up to having windows blown out because they just shrugged it off as false alarms.”
Patricia Tomsick echoed those concerns and indicated she would like more information from the refinery about what to do in a real emergency
“Give us pamphlets or a paper on what to do in case something happens,” Tomsik said
Holly publishes a “citizenship report” on its website, which includes a section about emergency response.
West Bountiful Police posted to their Facebook page Friday night to say that refinery officials had contacted them to tell them they found the problem with the false alarms and it has been fixed

WEST BOUNTIFUL, Utah (KUTV) — Harsh words from the family of a man who was shot and killed in a West Bountiful parking lot last week
They claim prosecutors knew the alleged gunman had a history of violence

A 2News investigation shows Jackson had been accused of assault in the past
Jackson was booked for misdemeanor assault and intoxication in 2020
Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill confirms Jackson was booked
“He pled guilty to those cases and he went through the plea in abeyance of it
consistent with that prosecution,” Gill said
West Jordan Police were called to Jackson’s home for a “non-physical domestic dispute.” Jackson got into a loud argument with his brother-in-law
and Jackson’s wife reportedly had to separate the two
The case was referred to the DA’s office to be screened for gun brandishing charges
but Gill said there wasn’t enough evidence to support a brandishing charge
he never pointed the gun at anybody and he never flashed the gun at anybody,” said Gill
Carson’s brother posted a comment on KUTV’s article describing Jackson’s criminal history
He believes the West Jordan Police Department should have determined Jackson’s “violent tendencies” should have prevented him from owning a gun
they certainly left the gun in Jake’s possession.”
Gill said officers saw there were weapons in the home
it doesn’t appear that Jackson was a restricted person
Utah Public Health Association Executive Director Carrie Butler said police in Utah aren’t really able to verify if that person has handed over all their guns
"I think some states have a mechanism to create a search warrant to go in and search a home and removes the firearms when somebody becomes restricted
but the state of Utah doesn’t have that,” Butler said
people who commit intimate partner violence are 40 to 60 percent more likely to commit more violent crimes in the future
"You are much more likely to commit a violent offense if you already have committed this interpersonal violence," she said
Gill said it’s nearly impossible to predict which suspects will become more violent
“There are only a very few restrictions on which we can prohibit your access to a weapon," Gill said
The city of West Jordan also issued a statement saying they did offer assistance to Jackson’s wife and her brother after that argument in November
