firearms and ammunition in his van told authorities he was planning an attack on a local church
according to a report obtained by The Dallas Morning News
The Fort Worth Fire Department bomb squad responded early Nov
The bomb squad determined three out of eight devices recovered from the back of the van were “destructive,” the report says
The fire department report’s brief narrative marks the first public disclosure of the man’s alleged intentions
which were the subject of an investigation by White Settlement police with support from federal law enforcement agencies
The report does not specify which church the man told authorities he intended to target
Authorities had not publicly identified the man as of Tuesday — one week since he was detained by police

White Settlement police Chief Christopher Cook said the man had been detained at a medical facility since his arrest last week
saying police would do so once he was formally arrested
On Nov. 26, White Settlement police officers were called at about 5:30 a.m
to the 9200 block of Jason Drive after receiving a call from a nearby resident about a “suspicious vehicle” parked on the residential street
who was found sitting in the van’s driver’s seat with a handgun on his lap
was experiencing a “mental health issue,” according to a police news release
Authorities have not provided further details about the nature of the issue
two long guns — including an assault-style rifle — and the explosive devices from the van
Once the man is released from the medical facility and arrested
he will face three charges: possession of a prohibited weapon; unlawful carrying of a weapon; and resisting arrest
What federal charges the man could face was unclear Tuesday
An FBI spokesperson deferred an inquiry to the police
did not provide additional information but said that the agency is working with state and federal authorities to “prosecute to the fullest.”
“Just know that ATF and our partners take all threats of violence seriously and will continue to respond expeditiously to keep the citizens of our streets safe,” Abel said in a statement Monday

a foot pursuit through parking lots and roadways and an arrest
White Settlement police received a 911 call at 9:47 a.m
Friday from a woman who said she had escaped a man who had been holding her hostage for four days
police Chief Christopher Cook said in a news release
The woman told police she escaped from the man’s white Dodge Caravan van in a Walmart parking lot at 6770 Westworth Blvd
Responding officers later saw a van matching that description driving away at a “high rate of speed,” Cook said in the release
The owner and driver of the van was identified as Reginald Jameson
It was not immediately clear whether Jameson had an attorney Friday
Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop at 10:02 a.m
and officers began a pursuit because of the “serious nature of the offense,” Cook said
Cook said Jameson ran a red light and attempted to run a second one at the intersection of Alta Mere Drive and Camp Bowie Boulevard
where the van crashed into two other vehicles
Dashboard camera footage captured by police shows Jameson running on foot from the crash as multiple patrol vehicles circumvent traffic and parking lots to continue the pursuit
a White Settlement police officer exits his vehicle to pursue Jameson on foot
Footage captured by the officer’s body-worn camera shows Jameson attempting to scale a fence when the officer deploys a Taser
The footage shows officers placing Jameson
Jameson remained in Tarrant County jail Friday afternoon
Cook said Jameson would face two misdemeanor charges and four felony charges
including one count of unlawful restraint that exposed a victim to serious bodily injury and one count of family violence/household member by impeding breath and circulation
Jameson was facing one count of parole violation for a domestic abuse case in Wisconsin
whose identity was not disclosed in the release
“This case demonstrates the dangers that exist when officers face violent felons who refuse to give up and flee without any regard to our communities and officers,” Cook said
“We are grateful that no innocent people or officers were seriously injured based upon the dangerous driving actions by this offender and that this victim of the kidnapping will be okay.”

but police say he could see more charges as their investigation continues
It wasn’t immediately clear whether he had an attorney as of Saturday
Police said in a Facebook post that they responded to the home invasion just before 3:30 a.m
Friday at the Oak Timbers Apartments in the 8400 block of Tumbleweed Trail
Surveillance video they obtained shows a man
attempting to open two nearby residential front doors before finding an unlocked one
A woman was asleep inside the apartment and she didn’t know the suspect
The man robbed her at knifepoint and fled on foot with some of her cash and keys
They say the victim also suffered a serious hand wound
but she was able to receive medical attention and leave the hospital later that day
Hours after the incident, police said in a subsequent Facebook post that they were able to identify Avila as a person of interest after finding his dropped phone near the crime scene with its flashlight turned on
They detained him while he was walking around the nearby Westlake Gardens Apartments
suggesting he might have been looking for his phone at the time
they then found more evidence at Avila’s residence linking him to the case — as well as to two felonies unrelated to the home invasion
Avila is still facing just one burglary charge
according to the White Settlement police department
He has since been transferred from White Settlement city jail to Tarrant County jail

Texas — Multiple reports of drones being flown over neighborhoods
federal and military properties in the White Settlement
area Tuesday night have prompted an investigation by police
White Settlement police are working with the FBI
Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the Air Force to determine who was piloting the aircraft and what the flight trajectories were
According to a post on X by White Settlement Police Chief Christopher Cook

Officers saw the drones in no-fly zones and began coordinating with the military to locate the pilot

the City of White Settlement and adjacent areas near federal and military properties are ‘NO FLY ZONES’ due to being a military operation area in the national airspace,” Cook wrote
Cook said that it’s not believed that the drones posed any immediate threat
The sightings in Texas come as concern over weeks of unexplained sightings in New Jersey reaches a fever pitch
the Federal Aviation Administration announced it is temporarily restricting unmanned aerial systems over 22 parts of New Jersey
Maryland and Connecticut have also reported seeing drones in night skies recently
The FAA on Tuesday said the drone sightings are a combination of lawful commercial drones
hobbyist drones and law enforcement drones
as well as fixed-wing helicopters and stars mistakenly reported as drones
The FAA said in a statement that the drones do not appear to present a national security or public safety risk over New Jersey or any other states
The FBI said it has received about 5,000 reports of drone sightings in the last few weeks
