has apparently been let go as athletic trainer by the Windsor Locks school administration
CT — Social media is literally buzzing in Windsor Locks and an online petition has been started due to the apparent dismissal of a beloved member of the high school athletic department
Patricia Taylor, known to most student-athletes as Miss Patty, has been the athletic trainer for over seven years at Windsor Locks High School. Though Superintendent of Schools Shawn Parkhurst told Patch Taylor's departure is a "confidential personnel matter that I cannot comment on at this time," a petition calling for Taylor's reinstatement has been formed on Change.org
"As someone who's greatly impacted the lives of thousands of students
Patty's presence in the school community was invaluable
Often spending her afternoon and late evenings at WLHS
Patty was an unsung hero at the school helping students with more than just physical therapy
her abrupt dismissal has distressed many students
we request the school administration to reconsider their decision
reinstating her and recognizing her contribution to the development of our school's athletic department."
Less than 24 hours after being posted Monday
the petition had gathered nearly 850 verified signatures
many from Raider athletes and/or their parents
Among the dozens of comments written in support of the petition are the following

CT — Police have taken to social media to clarify and dispel false rumors about an incident at the Route 75 McDonald's on New Year's Day
"One of our officers was asked what had occurred ..
and a social media conversation loaded with speculation and inaccuracies (very common in the social media landscape)," police wrote on their Facebook page
a person walked into headquarters to report a missing person with a history of self-harm and suicidal thoughts and attempts
The person was walking on Elm Street without shoes and soaked from the rain
She got in the car and requested to go to McDonald's
then jumped out of the moving car when asked if she wanted to go to the hospital to talk to someone
Investigation into her history found local police had just sent her for a psychiatric evaluation on Dec
She was immediately hostile to the officers
then went into the bathroom and locked herself in a stall
but would not communicate about her emotional or mental state
Based on the woman's disheveled appearance
past mental health history and jumping out of a moving car
she was sent to a hospital for another psychiatric evaluation
and refused to cooperate after numerous warnings
officers had to remove the woman from the stall and placed her a stretcher

CT — State environmental officials are advising the public to avoid contact with the Connecticut River in the area south of 249 South Water Street in East Windsor
following the discovery of a major sewer line break
A break in a large sanitary sewer line was located adjacent to the river Thursday
