Police in Cape Town have launched a manhunt for unknown gunmen who shot dead a 35-year-old female administrative clerk attached to Kraaifontein SAPS near the Gatesville Mosque in Athlone
Malcolm Pojie says the shooting occurred on Saturday in a nearby parking lot
He says a 56-year-old woman was also wounded and taken to a medical facility for treatment
Pojie says preliminary reports indicate that two armed men attacked the women as they exited their vehicle
Police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder

An administrative clerk from the Kraaifontein Police Station has been killed in a parking lot in Athlone
The shooting incident took place near the Gatesville Mosque yesterday
According to police spokesperson Lt Col Malcolm Pojie
the 35-year-old woman and another female were busy getting out of a vehicle
It’s believed that two armed men had approached them as they were getting out of the car
Police Management in the Western Cape has expressed its shock following the shooting incident in the parking lot next to the Mosque
Lt Col Pojie says the 35-year-old female administrative clerk attached to Kraaifontein SAPS died at the scene
The incident happened about a quarter to two in the afternoon
a 56-year-old woman was wounded and taken to the hospital
Malcolm Pojie says cases of murder and attempted murder will be investigated by detectives attached to the Anti-Gang Unit
2 armed men had accosted the deceased as she and the wounded woman alighted from the vehicle they were travelling in

Police officers from the Anti-Economic Crime and Provincial Counterfeit Goods Task Team have arrested a 42-year-old suspect found in possession of a firearm and ammunition in Kraaifontein
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson
said the arrest took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning
“Members deployed in the Kraaifontein area to curb ongoing gun violence and extortion-related crime acted on information received
which led them to an address where they located the suspect,” said Pojie
they discovered a 9mm pistol and ammunition
and the firearm and ammunition were confiscated.”
Pojie confirmed that the suspect faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and is expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court today

KRAAIFONTEIN - A principal from Kraaifontein in the Western Cape was shot dead outside school grounds.
The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday morning
According to Western Cape police spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk
three unidentified men opened fire on the 54-year-old and a female passenger

two persons stopped at the entrance of an institute of learning at Henzikile Street
"Three unidentified males approached the vehicle and opened fire at them
which led to the death of a 54-year-old male and an injured female who was admitted to hospital," Van Wyk said.
Police the suspects fled the scene in an unknown vehicle
Police said anyone with information on the incident can call the investigating officer Colonel Eddie Clark on 082 469 1531 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111
Meanwhile South African Teacher's Union (Sadtu) secretary Sbongile Kwazi said they were devastated by the incident adding that their call for a safe haven in schools has not been heeded to.

The community of Bloekombos in Kraaifontein say they are still in shock following the fatal shooting of the principal of Ekuthuleni Primary
The 54-year-old was shot in his car on Thursday and his wife was wounded
Counselling is being provided to affected people and learners
“This is not the first person to die at the same spot on this street around the same time
This time I heard the shots inside the shop
I can’t even face anybody because we don’t know who is next,” says one of the residents
“What happened here yesterday really shocked us as the community of Bloekombos
We did not expect this to happen to our principal because he is a man who is well known and loved in the community
We would like the police to up their protection because we do not feel safe.”
Meanwhile, the Western Cape Education Department has strongly condemned the murder of the school principal.
“This is a terrible tragedy for the school and community, and we offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and school community. Our district teams are on the ground providing counselling support and we trust that SAPS will leave no stones unturned in apprehending the perpetrator,” says department spokesperson Bronagh Hammond.

This follows the murder of 54-year-old Ekuthuleni Primary School principal in Kraaifontein on Thursday
Jeffrey Sigudla was shot and killed while sitting in his car outside the school premises
police responded to another shooting incident outside the Fanie Theron Primary School also in the Kraaifontein area
SADTU has condemned Sigudla's killing and called for the protection of educators
Sibongile Kwazi said schools are supposed to be safe havens
"We have always had the call for security guards at schools
most of these incidents are targeted at certain individuals."

Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man was shot and killed outside Fanie Theron Primary School in Windsor Park at Kraaifontein moments after the Bloekombos incident.
Western Cape police spokesperson, Frederick Van Wyk said the motive for the second murder on the day is also under investigation.
"The 41-year-old driver of a white Hyundai vehicle left an institute of learning when an unidentified suspect approached the vehicle and fired several gunshots at the vehicle."
Police have urged anyone with information about the two murder incidents to come forward.

"We hope that he does plead guilty so this can be handled sooner. We would be grateful as a family. We know nothing is going to bring him back but at least we can have closure."
The pre-trial conference will continue in February 2025.

Jeffrey Sigudla is a sad moment for the community
Sigudla was shot and killed while sitting in his car outside the school on Thursday morning
He was shot in the presence of his wife who has also sustained gunshot wounds
She is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital

Siduka has urged the community of Bloekombos to work with the police to ensure the suspects are arrested.
"We can not run away from the fact that our area is having a lot of crime, and it needs us people who are residing here so that we can be able to catch these hooligans that are busy killing our people."
Meanwhile, the School's Governing Body Chairperson, Linda Phito says the murder Sigudla has left a void amongst learners and teachers.
"Law enforcement must fully check what's going on, who is behind the killing of Mr Sigudla."
The Western Cape Education Department was unable to confirm whether the learners would be back in class on Friday after they were sent home early on Thursday.
