President Cyril Ramaphosa says the Home Affairs on Wheels is going to change the provision of services offered by the department of Home Affairs for the better, across the country. Ramaphosa and the Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi earlier unveiled a newly build state-of-the art offices in Mokopane and 100 new trucks that will extend the reach of the department’s services, especially in remote areas. He says 14 of the trucks will be given to the Limpopo government and will be used to access people in rural areas faster, cheaper and more conveniently. Ramaphosa says in these trucks people be able to apply for a smart IDs, passports, birth, marriage or death certificates on site. He says a total of one hundred trucks will now go into service, adding to the 20 that they rolled out last year. Ramaphosa says they are planning to order at least 100 trucks every year until they reach a total of one thousand. He says the new trucks won’t be moving constantly around the provinces however, they will be available in a village or town at a particular time so that people can know when to go there.
