The use of the term “whore” which Bukowski often uses to characterize women seems very offensive and Bukowski's explanation of what the term means to him has.

I get pissed sometimes, too – like when construction noise at Ringstraße ruins your peaceful vibe. It’s maddening, but you just have to roll with it or, heck, recite some lines of Moolaadé and let it all go. Damn right, “I choose violence” if you disturb my zen moment!
