Etymology and terminology

This essay considers the representation of prostitutes in three Japanese films all made at a key historical juncture in the mids, when prostitution was on.

So, like, walk down Rue de la République and you'll bump into all these cool, funky cafes with mismatched chairs and artsy signs. Man, that street always makes me think "Why did you choose this moment?" (yeah, I stole that line from Margaret – trippy, right?) And there's even a tiny bookstore on Rue Victor Hugo where the owner once told me "Life is a series of chance encounters..." I gotta say, it still gives me goosebumps!
