Two of Sydney’s most prestigious private schools will phase out co-education in their junior campuses
bucking the trend of independent schools shifting to having girls and boys taught together
which is co-ed in primary and a single-sex girls’ school from year 7
told parents last week it will stop accepting boys in its junior school
principal Erica Thomas said the school had for years “struggled to secure significant numbers of boys” at its primary campus
despite offering kindergarten scholarships
Kincoppal-Rose Bay told parents last week it will phase out co-education in its junior school
first enrolled boys in its junior school in 1914
Thomas said the final intake of boys entering kindergarten will be in 2028
Private boys’ school Shore has also confirmed it will no longer enrol girls at its preparatory kindergarten-to-year 2 Northbridge campus from next year
Shore’s prep school has been co-ed since 2003
The decisions by the two high-fee schools come amid a rush of single-sex private and Catholic schools switching to co-ed
with all-boys institutions Newington and Cranbrook preparing to admit girls from 2026
Shore principal John Collier says the school will no longer accept girls’ enrolments at the Northbridge kindergarten-to-year 2 campus after years of declining demand
Shore headmaster John Collier said parents are increasingly anxious to enrol their children in a kindergarten-to-year 12 school where they do not need to switch after primary years
Kincoppal and Shore are among a few private schools to offer co-ed in primary and single-sex education in high school
The King’s School runs a co-ed junior campus and boarding school at Moss Vale
“What we’ve seen over many years is the gradual decline [in girls’ enrolments],” Collier said
Collier said the school has fewer than 10 girls enrolled in years 1 and 2 this year
“Parents want a long-term proposition for their daughters
and many are opting for high-quality girls’ schools in this area.”
He said a major concern was having enough girls to have strong social and friendship groups
and that girls’ enrolments had steadily declined over the past decade
the school announced it would stop offering co-ed at its kindergarten-to-year 2 campus
but backlash from parents meant the decision was reversed
there is absolutely no demand for co-education,” Collier said
A Shore spokesperson said the kindergarten-to-year 2 classes will transition to “an all-boys structure” from next year
and the early learning centre will remain co-educational
They said the decision was well-received among parents

the school said its board’s decision to phase out co-education in primary came after “extensive consultation
The final intake of boys entering kindergarten will be in 2028
with the last co-ed year to graduate in 2034
“We are fully committed to the 38 boys who are currently enrolled in kindergarten to year 6
as well as all those who are enrolled to commence in future years,” Thomas said in her letter to parents
“We have made considerable efforts to increase the number of boy enrolments by offering the strongest calibre of teachers
introducing scholarships to attract boy enrolments and endeavouring to build year 7 pathways with a range of schools
increased competition from other schools and the removal of year 7 pathways have contributed to low enrolments of boys and a poor outlook for the enrolment of boys for the foreseeable future
“To secure a high school place in many independent schools
boys are often required to take a place in primary.”
Thomas said the school first enrolled boys in 1914 and male enrolments ranged from less than 10 per cent to 30 per cent during its history
The school now has 280 students in its junior school
Both schools have struggled to reach gender balance in the junior schools, and in 2019, Kincoppal announced it would offer 30 scholarships for children entering kindergarten and years 1
2 and 3 in an attempt to increase male participation
both schools have applied via the state government’s planning portal to increase student numbers
Shore has approval to increase capacity by 450 students as part of campus upgrade plans
but a school spokesperson said its “current ambition is to add only another 26 students

Washington: US President Donald Trump called Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to congratulate him on his election victory
and the two men had a “warm and positive” conversation canvassing trade and the AUKUS security pact
The phone call paves the way for a future in-person meeting
possibly at next month’s G7 meeting in Canada
which Albanese confirmed he would attend as an invited guest

“I thanked him for his very warm message of congratulations,” Albanese said. “We talked about AUKUS and tariffs. We’ll continue to engage
We’ll engage with each other on a face-to-face basis at some time in the future ..
I thanked him for reaching out in such a positive way
“I won’t go into all of the personal comments that he made
But he was very generous in his personal warmth and praise towards myself
and he expressed the desire to continue to work with me in the future.”
shortly after Trump returned to Washington from his weekend home in Florida
Upon disembarking the US Marine Corps helicopter at the White House
Trump praised Albanese when asked by this masthead about the Australian election
“I don’t know anything about the election other than the man that won
Asked about Albanese’s description of Trump’s tariffs as “not the act of a friend”
Trump said: “I can only say that he’s been very
“I have no idea who the other person is that ran against him
we [Albanese and I] have had a very good relationship.”
Trump said he did not know whether he had an impact on the Australian election result
Some analysts have suggested the Coalition’s declining popularity could be partly attributed to an association with the US president and his conservative policies
or voters flocking to the incumbent due to the uncertainty created by Trump
A White House readout of the phone call was not immediately available
and the president had not yet posted about the call on his Truth Social page
as he sometimes does when he speaks to world leaders
Other world leaders who have offered their congratulations on social media include British Prime Minister Keir Starmer
French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney
Canada and Australia are close partners and the most reliable of friends,” Carney wrote on X
“We have the opportunity to build on that relationship and our shared values to the benefit of both our nations
Carney, who took over from Justin Trudeau, won a fourth term for his centre-left Liberal Party last week despite the party being well behind in the polls months earlier
That win was credited in large part to Canadians preferring Carney over his conservative opponent to stand up to Trump’s tariffs and threats
One of Albanese’s key foreign affairs tasks will be to restart trade talks with Washington after the imposition of 10 per cent tariffs on Australian goods
“universal” tariff rate Trump gave to any country
but one that Albanese said had no basis in logic and was not the act of a friend
Australia is one of the few countries with which the US historically enjoys a trade surplus
although there was a deficit in the early months of this year
Negotiations were in effect on hold during the election campaign and caretaker period
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio posted a statement on X after Albanese’s victory
“Congratulations to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on his victory in Australia’s federal election
Australia is a valued US friend and a close partner,” he wrote
“We look forward to continuing to promote freedom and security in the Indo-Pacific and around the world.”

who earned US$1 for the T-shirt she sold on RedBubble
had US$600 removed from her PayPal account without explanation
Alda Curtis, a 63-year-old counselling student from Sydney, set up a Redbubble store as a hobby, including selling a T-shirt featuring an unhappy cat cartoon.
After years of running the store, a single sale of that T-shirt resulted in a US$100,000 default judgment against her for infringing on the trademark of Grumpy Cat late last year. Then Curtis noticed nearly US$600 had been taken from her PayPal account.
Grumpy Cat, also known as Tardar Sauce, shot to internet fame in 2012 due to her permanently grumpy facial expressions that were caused by a permanent underbite and feline dwarfism.

The world of internet stardom moves on quickly, however, and Grumpy Cat’s fame has dimmed since Tardar Sauce died in 2019, aged 7
But the ghost of the frowny feline still haunts anyone trying to sell a product that could be confused with the real Grumpy Cat
The owner of the Grumpy Cat trademark is ever vigilant for unauthorised products sold online
Grumpy Cat Ltd filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against more than 200 online sellers in a US court
They sought damages for products sold on sites such as RedBubble that allegedly infringed on the trademark

the court ruled a default judgment in favour of Grumpy Cat Ltd
The company was awarded damages of US$100,000 per defendant
The sellers have also been restrained from continuing to sell the products identified
forcing the removal from the online stores
Curtis set up a Redbubble store as a hobby while studying counselling in the northern suburbs of Sydney
She first became aware of the Grumpy Cat Ltd case against her two weeks after the default judgment in Ohio
The problem for Curtis was one item she sold: a T-shirt of a frowning purple and yellow cat
She said the sale had been made just before the US lawsuit was launched against her
The T-shirt had sat unsold for years on her site
The design for the T-shirt had been licensed from a design website
titled “Grumpy Cat Pattern Graphic T-shirt”
Curtis earned just over US$1 from the sale
In the six years she had been running her store
Curtis said she had “absolutely no intentions” of infringing the trademark
but I didn’t even cross my mind that was in any copyright infringement or anything like that,” she said
If everyone in the world is going to be not allowed to call [a design] Happy Cat
or whatever it might be … where does it end?”
Curtis discovered US$592.75 was missing from her PayPal account
After multiple attempts to contact PayPal to try to get the money back
Curtis said PayPal referred her to Grumpy Cat’s lawyers
Others across the globe have found themselves in similar situations
There are posts on Reddit asking what to do after finding a default judgment has been made against them
‘Grumpy Cat’ was not even mentioned on my design neither looked my design like their stupid cat,” one poster said

said US trademark law gives courts powers to impose tough damages awards in infringement cases
including statutory damages of up to US$200,000
“Wholesale default judgment proceedings in trademark and copyright cases are a familiar strategy for intellectual property owners,” he said
Free daily newsletterOur Australian afternoon update breaks down the key stories of the day
telling you what’s happening and why it matters
“They can be a useful tool for trademark owners – but they risk imposing very harsh remedies on individual defendants who might have had good defences if they had acted sooner.”
and it was important for anyone served with a complaint to act quickly
“The last thing you want is to be swept up in proceedings against a large group of other defendants
You want to be in the position to raise any defences as early as possible.”
Curtis said it could be a case of what has been termed “SAD Scheme”. In a 2023 Columbia Law Review Forum article, Prof Eric Goldman described the “Schedule A Defendants Scheme” in the northern district of Illinois – where the Grumpy Cat case was filed – targeting online merchants in China, mostly.
Goldman said the scheme allowed rights owners “to extract settlements from online merchants without satisfying basic procedural safeguards like serving the complaint and establishing personal jurisdiction over defendants”.
Goldberg argued the scheme “goes far beyond just curbing online infringement and instead causes substantial harm to innocent merchants”.
Read moreAustralian copyright law expert Fiona Phillips said the US-based PayPal taking the US$592.75 from Curtis’s account was the company enforcing its user agreement
which outlines funds may be taken in response to a court order
“It is an interesting development in the enforcement of IP across national borders and a further reason for people to pay more attention to the terms and conditions,” she said
Curtis is now battling to have the default judgment vacated
lawyers for Grumpy Cat have argued that service was made to Curtis’ Gmail account on 2 May 2024
and have sought to have the motion dismissed on the grounds that Curtis has filed the motion under her name
not in the name of the online seller name she had used
The company also argued that the trademark infringement was due to the name of the product being “Grumpy Cat Pattern Graphic T-Shirt”
Curtis said a search of her inbox shows no email from the lawyers until the first one she received in September
Lawyers for Grumpy Cat offered to settle the case for US$1,000 in an email to Curtis in March
Users on Reddit have reported similar offers
In 2018, Grumpy Cat Ltd won $750,000 in damages from a US coffee company for violating the terms of their agreement to use the cat’s image on a line of iced coffee drinks called “Grumppuccinos”
Grumpy Cat’s owners said the company had “blatantly infringed” their copyrights and trademarks when they began selling roasted coffee and Grumppucino T-shirts featuring Tardar Sauce’s face
As of 2024, it was reported that Grumpy Cat Ltd had filed more than 50 lawsuits related to the use of Grumpy Cat in unauthorised merchandise

Manager Rahul Setia said they offer traditional haircuts
“We’re getting a good response,” said Setia

“We were getting a lot of responses and requests to open here.”
What stands out the most at Lala Ji is the interior of the shop

There’s even a kid’s salon chair that looks like an old-fashioned police car to help with those difficult first-time trims
there are gold stanchions with velvet rope to give a VIP feel
Setia says they’ll be adding a red carpet soon now that there’s no fear of snow on the ground

Nagpal lived in Glace Bay from 2020 to 2022 before moving to Halifax

Although he has a degree in civil engineering

he liked to get a fresh cut to feel confident and wanted to pass that feeling on to others
“I really liked the community and I thought that my future would be staying in Nova Scotia

Arise Racing GT Ferrari pair extend championship lead with perfect weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park…
Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte strengthened their grip on this year’s GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS title race with a clean sweep of victories in last weekend’s second round of the season at Sydney Motorsport Park
26 Arise Racing GT Ferrari 296 GT3 took a straightforward pole-to-win in Saturday evening’s opener under the floodlights
and overcame a success penalty in Sunday’s finale to complete a perfect weekend
It means Evans and Schutte find themselves with a commanding 39-point advantage in the drivers’ standings over Brad Schumacher and Broc Feeney
who remain the only drivers to have beaten the dominant Arise Ferrari pair so far this season
Schumacher was the only driver to threaten the No
26 Ferrari during Saturday’s race as Schutte lost the advantage to the Kelso Electrical-backed Melbourne Performance Centre Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II at the start
Schutte found a way back ahead of Schumacher and had built a solid gap out front by the time he pitted to hand over the car to Evans
who took the checkered flag by a commanding 15 seconds from the No
44 Tigani Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of debutant Thomas Randle and returnee Marcel Zalloua in second place
Feeney had already dropped to third when he took over the No
and at the end of his out lap was passed by Randle in the No
while Jayden Ojeda charged all the way from eighth to claim the final spot on the podium in the No
66 Realta-sponsored Tigani Mercedes-AMG started by Paul Lucchitti
Evans took the start and built a significant lead over second-placed Ryan Wood in the No
who made a significant early pass on the Wall Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 of Tony D’Alberto
The success penalty for victory on Saturday meant that Schutte would emerge behind his opposite number in the No
but it took just ten minutes for Schutte to close down and pass for the lead
Brooks trailed by just under ten seconds at the finish as he banked second place
while the podium was completed by Feeney and Schumacher
with Feeney having been stuck in fourth behind D’Alberto’s Lambo throughout his opening stint
66 Mercedes-AMG started by Ojeda in fourth place
while Brendon Leitch and Tim Miles completed the top five in the No
Renee Gracie took Am class honors in both races running solo aboard the No
catapulting her into the lead of the class standings ahead of Black Wolf Mercedes-AMG pair Shane Woodman and Ben Schoots
The GTWC Australia season continues with the third round at Queensland Raceway on May 30-June 1

Conte Sydney has just opened in Barrack Place in Sydney's CBD and is said to be the world's first negroni bar with over 40 negronis available on their menu including a $1,000 negroni
Along with cocktails there's a menu full of Italian dishes like meats sliced from the Berkel
lobster risotto and meats as well as a Negroni tiramisu (naturally)
Find out more and why you should save it for a special night out
The afternoon of the day we are going to Conte
my Italian neighbour Paolo rings my doorbell
He and his wife Rita are on a walk and stop by
He asks where we are going this evening for my birthday and I tell him
Did you know that Conte is Italian for count or baron," he says making a fancy gesture
Conte is lushly outfitted with tall red velvet curtains
Milanese brand Fornasetti wallpapers and dramatically high 9 metre ceilings
The owners of Conte are couple Raffaelle Lombardi and Victoria Hampshire who first opened Bar Conte in Surry Hills in 2022. Its popularity convinced them that a city venue was the next step. He grew up on the Amalfi Coast and the interiors are her design. The chef and venue partner is Steven De Vecchi with Chef Giacomo Rilievo, formerly of LuMi Dining
We slide into a booth right at the end of a restaurant although many guests head straight to the bar for one of Enzo's cocktails
Upstairs is a private dining space and on the wall is an enormous sized Campari print
a rare piece from 1921 by Leonetto Cappiello
The menu is all Italian from Berkel sliced meats to formaggio plus a raw seafood platter
The bar also has an extensive selection of Italian Vermouth
Their Negroni XIIII with the $1,000 price tag is billed as not just a cocktail but an experience
It is created with Cognac Louis XIII by Rémy Martin
and Cinzano 1757 Vermouth (1970 Vintage) served in a baccarat cut crystal glass
You do have to preorder it and 3 have been sold since the restaurant opened just a few weeks ago
An affordable option to this is the Negroni experience called "Three Shades of Negroni" that we end up sharing
white and red to reflect the Italian flag matched with canapes
Mancino Sakura Vermouth and Green Chartreuse with a tartare of red prawns with pickle jalapeño
The second is "Bianco" with Ilegal Mezcal Joven
Galliano float and Bittermens Hopped Grapefruit with taleggio cheese
The third is "Rosso" with a 15 year single malt
Bittermens Hopped Grapefruit with a garnish of burnt thyme and pink grapefruit with a peaked whisky Lagavulin16 in an atomizer on the side to add smokiness if you so choose
This comes with a timbale of wagyu tartare
But this could definitely make a Negroni lover out of me especially when it is paired with food
The food pairings are a perfect match really enhancing the flavours of the Negronis and I find myself enjoying the distinct flavours of each one
The entrees arrive and we start with the seafood mixed crudo with raw seafood like W.A
Abrolhos scallops and ginger dressing on the side
The ginger dressing makes the raw seafood pop and we really enjoy this sumptuous raw platter fit for a birthday treat
It's also surprisingly quite filling with the enormous raw scallops and scampi as well as sweet amaebi prawns
you do get a 10g/0.3oz tin of caviar and we finish off with caviar bumps with the Black River Oscietra caviar
Our lovely waiter also recommended the Fritto Misto to complement the raw platter for a mix of cold and hot seafood
It's a variety of seafood from tiny school prawns
tiny fish and calamari with a delicious nduja mayonnaise on the side
Make sure to order the house made focaccia that comes out warm with Coratina olive oil and balsamic to make yourself a delicious little sandwich with the fried seafood and nduja mayonnaise
We were tossing up whether to get pasta or meat but we decided on pastas
The busiate pasta is a spiral pasta shaped like a telephone cord served with a tomato based sauce
This is divine and I can see why it is the most popular pasta here
The nduja crumb adds an umami intensity and the prawns add texture to this dish while the pasta is perfectly cooked
As for Mr NQN he loves the lamb ragu pappardelle with a tomato based sauce
The pappardelle is quite thick in texture but the lamb is soft and luscious
The bowl of chips is another recommendation from our waiter
The serving is generous with plenty of shaved pecorino on top
It comes with a truffle oil aioli on the side that truthfully it doesn't really need
A must order is the Negroni tiramisu which we share because we are so full
The pastry chef Martina Goti created this negroni tiramisu that was designed to honour the bar
Pastry chef Ludmila Cittadini describes it as
"Composed of a cream mascarpone Negroni and sponge soaked in a coffee syrup and Negroni." The two pastry chefs tested several recipes to get the perfect balance of flavours
And while the cream is light it also gives the bitterness of the citrus and cocktail a softer edge to it
we head to the bar for a final shot of Rucolino Amaro from Enzo with notes of sweet bitterness and intensity

In another short clip exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com, the blonde beauty could be seen talking to Schwarzenegger when she suddenly pointed towards his mouth.
Sydney let out a laugh as his hand flew to his mouth and a couple moments later she bent forward to make sure that he successfully removed the food bit.
Patrick then snatched out his phone and turned on the camera mode so he could also check for himself.
Afterwards, the pair brushed aside the funny moment and were also seen dancing to music that blasted through the venue.

Schwarzenegger recently starred in the latest season of HBO's The White Lotus - and Sweeney notably took on a role in the show's first season.
Sydney and Machine Gun Kelly were also looking extra chummy at the star-studded party at the MGM Grand.

Sydney's love life has been making headlines ever since her breakup with longtime fiancé Jonathan Davino
The actress split from Davino earlier this year in January
but news of the separation didn't come to light until March
And last month, TMZ reported that the pair have called it quits for good - following a seven-year relationship
'Sydney and Jonathan are not reconciling romantically and they're not getting back together
despite speculation to the contrary,' the outlet reported
she and Davino finally crossed paths during a frosty reunion at their shared Florida property
Sydney had kept her distance - and her smile - leaving no doubt the romance is done
that so-called 'reunion' at her Florida home was anything but romantic
Sydney was simply hosting a gender reveal party for a friend at her oceanfront estate - and Jonathan was only there because he's also friends with the guest of honor
However, a different source told Us Weekly the breakup may not be as final as it seems

the two fueled romance rumors while promoting their rom-com Anyone But You
Glen admitted they leaned into that spark for the film's promo
'I don't have the mental capacity to pull anything like this off
'I had such a wonderful journey with her on this thing
But in terms of actual dating and actually being together?'
'The only reason it made things harder for me to lean into that stuff was that I was going through a very real breakup amidst a promotional tour.'

The Mail on Sunday & Metro Media Group
By DEIRDRE SIMONDS and JAMES VITUSCKA and RUSS WEAKLAND FOR DAILYMAIL.COM
Megan Fox is trying to remain optimistic about having a healthy co-parenting relationship with her ex Machine Gun Kelly following the birth of their first child
Despite the fact her former fiancé was seen getting cozy with newly single actress, Sydney Sweeney, in Las Vegas on Saturday
is holding out hope that MGK will prioritize his family above everything else
A source told the Daily Mail that the actress is desperate for her ex to 'step up in the dad department because she was so excited becoming parents with him and then it all fell apart.'
'She still has hope that he will make sense of it all
because she knows that deep down he is a great father
so she expects him to make this work even if their relationship hasn't,' the insider added
On Sunday, just hours after the Sweeney incident, Fox and rapper MGK were spotted in a car together, attempting to keep a low profile while stocking up on groceries at Erewhon in Calabasas, California
switching with MGK (real name Colson Baker)
to be closer to her newborn in the back of the car

Fox and MGK have dated on-off since 2020, with MGK even proposing in January 2022 with a $340,000 ring made in a thorn-like design, deliberately so Fox would hurt herself if she ever tried taking it off
with the rapper being accused of messaging other women
Then, in a shock twist that same month, Fox announced she was pregnant with Kelly's child in a nude photoshoot
Fox gave birth - to a baby girl - in March
with Kelly proudly announcing the news on his Instagram
The happy news came after Fox revealed in 2023 that she had suffered a miscarriage
a source told People magazine that Fox is not interested in rekindling their famously torrid romance
She won't be getting back together with him,' the insider said
'The relationship is still complicated. They haven't reconciled,' another source told US Weekly
'It's a mix of healing and hard conversations that they have had.'
Kelly had been seen chatting up a storm with Sydney Sweeney
who recently called off her engagement to Jonathan Davino
left fans marveling at how touchy feely they got
Sweeney looked every bit the single blonde bombshell as she posed up with The White Lotus actor Patrick Schwarzenegger and MGK
A source told the Daily Mail exclusively that Fox just wants MGK to 'step up in the dad department because she was so excited becoming parents with him and then it all fell apart'
so she expects him to make this work even if their relationship hasn't,' the insider said
After they were recognized together on Sunday
But that tentative healing has already been tested

co-starring in the 2019 film Big Time Adolescence and also the 2021 film Downfalls High
he and Sydney are tied to White Lotus as they starred in Season 1 and Season 3
Sydney’s recent outing comes in the wake of her halting her wedding to ex-fiancé Jonathan — they were linked in 2018 and got engaged in 2022. TMZ reported earlier this year that Sydney and Jonathan had postponed their wedding until May
Meanwhile, a month later a source revealed to People that "things have been rocky for a long time" between the two
That same month a source confirmed with the news outlet that the pair had officially called it quits
"[Sydney’s] exactly where she wants to be,” the source told People at the time
“Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year
She's all about working right now and very excited about all her projects.”

The GTWC Australia Championship travelled to Sydney Motorsport Park for Round 2
with a headline race under lights on Saturday evening before a second race on Sunday on the agenda
with the Trophy class being represented by the #24 KFC Audi of Matt Stoupas and Gary Higgon
entering an older-spec car for the weekend
The Pro-driver session saw Jaxon Evans put the #26 Arise Racing GT Ferrari on Pole for the second race of the weekend
just ahead of Wall Racing’s Tony D’Alberto in the #93 Lamborghini Huracan
meant that some drivers down the field missed out on setting a representative lap time
including the #66 Realta/Tigani Motorsport Mercedes of Jayden Ojeda and the #44 Geyer Valmont Racing Mercedes of Thomas Randle
it was again the #26 Arise Racing GT Ferrari on Pole
who shared the front row with Am-class competitor Renee Gracie in the #181 OnlyFans Audi
just over a tenth behind the top of the time sheet
Saturday evening’s Race 1 got started under lights
cool but clear evening greeting the competitors and offering near-perfect conditions for GT cars
leaving a 14-car field for the headline race
It was Elliot Schutte in the #26 Arise Racing Ferrari 296 that took the holeshot into Turn 1
as Renee Gracie followed him through from the front row in the #181 OnlyFans Audi
a coming together between the #1 Volante Rosso Aston Martin and the #7 Dayle ITM Audi saw both Liam Talbot and Tim Miles fall to the back of the pack
putting the #888 Kelso Electrical Audi into second
then trying to pass Schutte for the lead at turn 2
before Schutte fought back around the outside of turns 5 and 6 to maintain the lead
then Mark Rosser in the #268 BRM Audi and Sergio Pires in the #55 Geyer Valmont Mercedes completing the top 5
The shape of the race changed with the pit stops
with Schutte handing the #26 Arise Racing Ferrari over to Jaxon Evans with a 20 second lead after the pit stops
The decision not to change tyres meant that while other competitors were suffering trying to get tyres up to temperature
with both Geyer Valmont Mercedes sandwiching the #888 Audi of Feeney
while Peroni’s #268 Audi and the OnlyFans Audi of Gracie were just behind
The Mercedes looked best in the second stint
as Thomas Randle squeezed the #44 Geyer Valmont Mercedes past Feeney around the outside of turn 2
But the biggest mover in the second stint was Jayden Ojeda in the #66 Realta Tigani Motorsport Mercedes: down in 8th after the pit stops
setting lap-record pace on his way to pick off those battling ahead
Ojeda rounded up the battle for second and managed to get onto the tail of the two Geyer Valmont Mercedes
and when George King began to struggle in the #55 and dropped down to 5th
Ojeda was all over the tail of Thomas Randle’s #44 to battle for second
with Randle and Zalloua taking a great second place on Zalloua’s debut in the Pro-Am class
while Schutte and Evans were untroubled at the front
Feeney and Schumacher finished in fourth in the #888 Audi
while King and Pires rounded out the top 5 in the second of the Geyer Valmont Mercedes
Winning Am was Gracie in the #181 OnlyFans Audi
while neither the #1 Volante Rosso Aston Martin
nor the #7 Dayle ITM Audi made significant inroads
RACE 1 RESULT >>
It was a clean start for Race 2 on Sunday Afternoon
with Jaxon Evans leading the field from Pole in the #26 Arise Racing Ferrari
Ryan Wood went into second in the #88 Wolfbrook Audi
while Tony D’Alberto acted as a cork in the bottle in the #93 Wall Racing Lamborghini
with a train of cars struggling to find a move around the third-placed Lamborghini
with Evans holding a 5 second lead prior to the pit stops
but more than 10 seconds over the group from third back
almost offsetting the 15-second time penalty for winning on Saturday
both Jayden Ojeda and Thomas Randle started recovery from their rear-of-the-field starts
with the #66 Tigani Motorsports Mercedes making it back up to 6th thanks to Ojeda
while Randle moved the #44 Geyer Valmont Mercedes into 9th
The whole field dove into the pits right at the end of the pit window
with the #88 Wolfbrook Audi taking the lead thanks to the pit-time penalty for the #26 Ferrari
Steve Brooks took an 8-second lead over Elliot Schutte
whose Ferrari had been returned to the track with fresh tyres
Brad Schumacher exited the pits in third in the #888 Kelso Electrical Audi
but had a big lock-up and ran wide into the grass at turn 2
While Schumacher went about chasing those ahead to recover his position
Brooks had to battle hard to keep Schutte behind
with Schutte easing past the Audi with 7 minutes left
and going on to take a comfortable 10-second victory
Brooks brought the #88 Audi home in second
while Schumacher managed to recover to put the #888 Audi into third
The #66 Lucchitti/Ojeda Realta Tigani Motorsport Mercedes finished in fourth
with Tim Miles and Brendan Leitch rounding out the top 5 in the #7 Dayle ITM Audi
The double victory for the #26 Arise Racing Ferrari is the first ever clean sweep in the GTWC Australia Pro-Am class
with Evans and Schutte overcoming the 15-second additional pit time after winning Race 1 to take a dominant victory in Race 2
clean-sweeping the weekend was Renee Gracie in the #181 OnlyFans Audi
The #24 KFC Audi took home the trophy class

Less than a month after Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino called off their engagement
the Euphoria actress attended Stagecoach with her The Housemaid costar Brandon Sklenar
Sydney Sweeney had a euphoric weekend at Stagecoach
In fact, the Euphoria star was spotted enjoying the music festival in Indio, Calif., alongside her The Housemaid costar Brandon Sklenar
the actors stood among the crowd at Creed’s performance
with Sydney standing in front of Brandon—who maintained a low profile in a hoodie—as they both jammed out to the music
The actors’ night out together comes less than a month after Sydney and ex fiancé Jonathan Davino—who she started dating in 2018—called off their two-year engagement
And while the night out raised eyebrows for some fans online—who speculated something romantic brewing in the comments of the TikTok—Brandon has been dating his girlfriend Courtney Salviolo since 2020
The pair keeps a relatively low profile concerning their romance
but recently stepped out at the premiere for Brandon’s show 1923 in February
Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time Sydney has sparked dating rumors with a costar. In fact, while promoting Anyone But You with pal Glen Powell
she even intentionally fanned the romance rumor flames
“The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry,” Glen, who revealed Sydney spearheaded their flirty exchanges during promotion for the 2023 film, told the New York Times at the time
That’s people wanting what’s on the screen
and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit—and it worked wonderfully.”
Sydney—who produced the rom-com along with her ex-fiancé—gave insight into just how much thought went into her and Glen’s pseudo-affair
“I was probably keeping everybody over at Sony marketing and distribution awake at night because I couldn’t stop with ideas.”
Similarly, in Sydney and Brandon’s upcoming film The Housemaid—which also stars Amanda Seyfried
with her and Sydney serving as executive producers—their characters Millie and Andrew engage in a romantic
For celeb romances that really developed on a set
No stranger to dating co-stars after romances with Sandra Bullock and Rachel McAdams, Gosling fell for Mendes on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines. But the pair have managed to keep their relationship private since they began dating in 2013
The couple have since welcomed two daughters, Esmeralda, 8, and Amada, 6, and Mendes opened up about how ending up with The Notebook star changed her opinion on motherhood
"I was lucky enough to work my bum off for 20 years," the New York & Company designer said on Sydney's Nova 96.9 in October 2020
"I never wanted babies before until I fell in love with Ryan
and then it just kind of worked out to where I was 40 and having my first baby and then I think I was 42 with my second one
so it worked out in that way that I had a career and then I changed my focus to my family."
And she's not ruling out a future on-screen collaboration with Gosling
"I really want to work with Ryan again. My most fun experience was being on set with him when he was directing," she told E! News
"It was really so creatively satisfying being in it together and he's such an amazing director
The singers, who met on the set of The Voice, have been nearly inseparable ever since they first started dating back in November 2015
While Shelton and Stefani both admitted that they had initially bonded over the ending of their respective marriages
it seems as though their love affair had lasting power from the get-go
In an interview with Billboard, Shelton recalled falling head over heels for the singer and how the two ultimately helped each other through their heartache
"Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician?"
After five years of dating, Shelton popped the question in October 2020 and the couple got married in an intimate ceremony in July 2021
the nuptials were "a perfect blend of country and glamour."
"It was as elegant and refined and cool as Gwen is

"We would go out with groups of people from work and slowly each date would go that the groups started getting smaller and smaller until it was just us two

But Ripa revealed the couple almost split before their wedding

he recalled shooting those episodes as his favorite memory from the show

"If you're already attracted to someone

It just created that extra bit that seeped through the lens
Maybe that's what people loved so much."

“We were in Sweden and I came up to watch Sweden take on the United States,” Ali explained
“And your mom was there and she was like ‘Ali
it’s so good to see you!’ And she had baby Cassius
and he was like drooling on me and tugging my hair and I had never seen a more precious baby.”
The two went on to reminisce that their paths crossed in college

“We’ve just gone through so much together,” Sydney added
It looks like Sydney Sweeney simply cannot escape the rumor mill. First, everyone was convinced she was dating her Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell
their press tour chemistry was truly undeniable
But there are only so many times two actors can say they’re just friends before everyone finally listens to them and stops shipping them
I guess the internet must be really hungry for drama, because it’s pretty much 10 seconds of grainy footage of two friends standing next to each other at a concert. Besides, Brandon has been with his girlfriend Courtney Salviolo since 2020
and she commented on his Instagram just this month
So I don’t think there’s anything romantic going on with him and Sydney
All these Sydney relationship rumors started kicking into high gear after Sydney broke up with her longtime partner Jonathan Davino in March 2025. Let’s take a look at Sydney Sweeney’s relationship history to get a full picture of her dating life
Sydney was with her ex Jonathan for about seven years, which is also just about as long as she’s been in the public eye. In 2018, Sydney was just becoming famous for her roles in the Netflix series Everything Sucks and Sharp Objects. And in September 2018, she was first spotted with Jonathan at an Emmys party
Sydney was 20 and Jonathan was 34 when they met
so he seems to have been her only major adult relationship
Sydney and Jonathan got engaged in 2022, but by 2025, she broke things off because she “didn’t feel right” in the relationship
“She’s not ready to settle down,” a source told PEOPLE
“They only lasted for this long because it was hard for her to break it off
They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now.”
So Sydney seems to be in her single girl era
That’s probably why she’s mostly been seen with her co-stars; they’re her co-workers
and that’s who she hangs out with these days
And anyway, when Sydney starts dating again, don’t hold your breath that it will be with a co-star. She told Cosmopolitan she doesn’t date “people in the spotlight.” She said
“I don’t date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way and it’s easiest

two shots ended Sydney’s worst mass murder in more than a decade
As an inquest into the Bondi Junction stabbings continues
the question remains: what more could have been done
When police inspector Amy Scott entered a Sydney shopping centre in pursuit of a man who was stabbing people with a large knife
she did so without a partner or a bulletproof vest
“Because, in my head, I had resigned myself to the fact that I was probably going to die”, she told the New South Wales coroners court this week
It was 3.37pm on 13 April 2024. Four minutes earlier, Joel Cauchi, 40, who had schizophrenia, had begun a stabbing rampage inside the Westfield Bondi Junction shopping mall
The inspector was the first police unit to respond to the initial radio call-out. She had been driving her police car from Bondi beach

Photograph: Mick Tsikas/AAP“I remember the radio operator said … ‘We’re getting multiple calls, multiple stabbings, multiple locations at Bondi Junction Westfield.’ I knew right then that it was very real,” Scott told the state coroner, Teresa O’Sullivan, on Tuesday.
When she arrived at the Westfield, her initial plan was to execute a “dynamic entry”, with other officers entering the centre at multiple points. But running from the shopping centre were people screaming: “He’s killing people, he’s hurting people.”

officers were told they had a 60% to 70% chance of non-survival “and that is if you are partnered up and vested up
as makeshift backup she had Silas Despreaux and Damien Guerot – two French nationals who had become friends since moving to Australia
Guerot arrived in Australia to learn English about 10 years ago and is now a carpenter
Despreaux told Guerot: “Let’s go catch him.”

throwing them down an escalator as he moved up it towards them
Scott told the court that the men told her which way to go
she unclipped her gun and one of the Frenchmen told her: “You’re on your own [without other police]
You have to have your gun ready because this guy is dangerous.”
A short distance from the top of the escalator and with the men behind her
“I’ve got eyes on him … and I’m in foot pursuit,” she radioed
When he stopped about 20 metres ahead of her
She silently signalled to a mother with a pram
then called out “mate” to get Cauchi’s attention
He turned towards her and started sprinting
she told the court that she thought “that he was going to kill me”
Less than six minutes after his rampage began
Cauchi lay motionless outside an art and craft shop
Two of the bullets had hit him; one missed and struck a pot plant
Read moreThat morning, after sleeping rough near Maroubra beach, he picked up his backpack and knife from his rented storage locker, searched Reddit for accounts of the Columbine school shooting, then made his way to Bondi Junction. There, while standing in a queue at a cafe in the sprawling Westfield shopping centre, he took his knife from his bag and, just before 3.33pm, fatally stabbed Dawn Singleton. The 25-year-old bride had been shopping for wedding makeup.
Five seconds later, he stabbed Jade Young, 47, an architect, once, as she stood beside her daughter. She died within minutes. He next fatally stabbed an economics student, Yixuan Cheng, 27, then new mother Ashlee Good, 38, a security guard, Faraz Tahir, 30, and Pikria Darchia, 55.
After being stabbed while protecting her baby, Good was able to contact her mother-in-law who was also in Westfield. She “made her way to assist … and was there to comfort her and her granddaughter in the midst of that fear”, the senior counsel assisting, Dr Peggy Dwyer SC, said.
Young’s daughter used her dying mother’s phone to call her father, who was also at Westfield. On his way to them, he encountered the attacker and “warned others that Mr Cauchi had a knife before running to find his wife”, the court heard.
Free daily newsletterOur Australian afternoon update breaks down the key stories of the day, telling you what’s happening and why it matters
An early assumption was that Cauchi targeted women: of his 16 victims, just three were men. But that theory was debunked by Det Chief Insp Andrew Marks, the police officer in charge of the investigation.
“From the start of his attack, he moved very quickly and he appeared to attack people that were not ready, [who] didn’t know what was happening,” Marks said in court. “I just believe that whoever was in his way … is who he attacked.”
It was clear that the death toll might have been far higher. In 2021, Cauchi had sought and been given initial psychiatric approval for a gun licence – something he did not follow through on, which the court heard was “very, very fortunate”.
The court watched CCTV footage that showed Cauchi, seconds before he was shot, hesitating in front of a man, who appeared to have no idea of the danger he was in.

The level of preparedness for an active armed offender
from security alarms to interagency communication and command
is central to the inquest for which the brief of evidence contains some 50 volumes and on which at least 18 barristers are working
Australia is a country in which mass casualty attacks are rare – the Bondi Junction attack was Sydney’s worst mass murder in more than a decade – and the triage response was perhaps a function of that fact
communications issues also hampered responders’ efforts
Multiple victims spread over three floors of the massive mall, combined with the sheer number of people there on that ordinary Saturday – not to mention its infamously maze-like layout – would have added to the fear and chaos that quickly descended.
Dwyer’s opening address led what has become a theme of the inquest: every witness, and many of the barristers, have begun their words with condolences to those affected. Injuries have been acknowledged as being both physical and psychological.
“The grief of the families who are impacted is raw and deep … and the extent of their loss is truly unfathomable for the rest of us. The inquest is a huge strain on their emotional reserves,” Dwyer said.
As well as many witnesses, the state coroner, too, was affected.
On Tuesday, O’Sullivan stopped proceedings after Whalley was overcome with emotion when recalling how, late in the evening of 13 April, a team of young police officers had not wanted to leave the side of a deceased victim.
“I’m grateful for the break too,” O’Sullivan told him after a five-minute pause, “because I found what you said very moving.”
he told ABC the projected victory was "a win for the ages"
Albanese "has pulled off one of the great political victories since federation,” he said. The results were "absolutely unbelievable"

Former gym owner and alleged drug dealer Sayit Akca tells Four Corners he ‘removed’ explosives threat while denying any involvement in antisemitic attacks
The man alleged to have masterminded a spate of antisemitic attacks in Sydney and a “fake terrorism” caravan plot has denied responsibility – but admits he was involved in having the caravan moved
In January, police discovered a caravan packed with explosives in the outer Sydney suburb of Dural
triggering a massive multi agency investigation
Former gym owner and alleged drug dealer Sayit Akca has told Four Corners he was able to divert the caravan – which he says was being moved between an illicit buyer and seller – and informed the Australian federal police (AFP) about the explosives in an attempt to gain more lenient treatment in the courts
Akca was charged in 2022 with conspiring to import a commercial quantity of illicit drugs and recklessly engaging with the proceeds of crime. He did not attend a scheduled court appearance at Sydney’s Downing Centre local court on 28 September 2023. He is now in Turkey, according to the ABC.

Akca told ABC’s Four Corners he fled Australia after he was charged partly because he feared he was a possible target of other criminals

he had approached authorities to organise a “trade-in” – hoping it would assist his return
He said he did not buy the explosives but directed the driver of the caravan to leave it in a “safe spot” and remove the detonators. He denied any knowledge of a note listing Jewish community targets that New South Wales police alleged was found inside the caravan
“I actually picked Dural and I just told the driver … to just put it in a safe spot,” Akca said
including on a childcare centre and synagogues
In March, police said the caravan was part of a “fake terrorism plot” allegedly orchestrated by organised criminals for personal gain
Police alleged the “con job” was fabricated by organised crime figures for personal benefit and that the undisclosed figures were based in Australia and offshore
The AFP deputy commissioner, Krissy Barrett, alleged in March that: “We believe the person pulling the strings wanted changes to their criminal status but maintained a distance from their scheme and hired alleged local criminals to carry out parts of their plan.”

the plan was the following: organise for someone to buy a caravan
place it with explosives and written material of antisemitic nature
inform law enforcement about an impending terror attack against Jewish Australians.”
The plot was “never going to cause a mass casualty event”
Akca told the ABC this week that he “removed something off the street and gave it to [the AFP]
And then there’s a bunch of other things they’re alleging was me
After supplying the AFP with further information about explosives as part of his bid for leniency
Akca gave up on the hope of returning to Australia
In April, it emerged that a senior NSW police officer signed a non-disclosure agreement when told by the AFP in early February that the motivation of the “mastermind” behind Sydney’s fake terrorism caravan plot was to influence prosecutions.
The AFP said on Monday that it questioned “the motivation of the individual interviewed by Four Corners”.
“That person has been charged by the AFP for an alleged illicit drug importation, which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment,” an AFP spokesperson said.
“That person is also accused of unlawfully leaving Australia while on bail.”
On Monday, NSW police told Guardian Australia: “Operation Kissinger is an investigation by the joint counter-terrorism team (JCTT) comprising members of NSW police force, Australian federal police, NSW crime commission and Asio.
“The NSW police force is committed to preventing and disrupting any threat to the safety and wellbeing of the community and has been working collaboratively with our partner agencies under JCTT arrangements to investigate terrorist activities, since its establishment in 2002.”
NSW police said a number of people connected to the investigation had been charged and were before the courts, and, for “operational reasons”, would not comment further.
Guardian Australia contacted Akca for comment.
